Abstract: We present a new measurement of the time-dependent CP-violating parameters in B(0)--pi(+)pi(-) decays with 275 x 10(6) BB pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider operating at the Gamma(4S) resonance. We find 666 +/- 43 B(0) --pi(+)pi(-) events and measure the CP-violating parameters: S(pipi) = -0.67 +/- 0.16(stat) +/- 0.06(syst) and A(pipi) = +0.56 +/- 0.12(stat) +/- 0.06(syst). We find evidence for large direct CP violation with a significance greater than 4 standard deviations for any S(pipi) value. Using isospin relations, we obtain 95.4% confidence intervals for the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa quark-mixing matrix angle phi(2) of 0 degreephiv(2)19 degrees and 71 degreesphi(2)180 degrees.

Abstract: CP violation in B--J/PsiK* decays is studied using an angular analysis in a data sample of 253 fb(-1) recorded with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. The flavor separated measurements of the decay amplitudes indicate no evidence for direct CP violation. T-odd CP violation is studied using the asymmetries in triple product correlations, and the results are consistent with the standard model null predictions. The time-dependent angular analysis gives the following values of CP-violating parameters: sin(2phi(1) = 0.24 +/- 0.31 +/- 0.05 and cos(2phi(1)=0.56 +/- 0.79 +/- 0.11.

Abstract: We present the results of continuous microelectrode recordings from individual pallidal neurons in patients with idiopathic torsion dystonia under different levels of propofol anesthesia. Neither the estimated plasma concentration of propofol nor the level of consciousness had a consistent effect on abnormally low neuronal firing rates. Our data support the pathophysiological model of a decreased basal ganglia output in dystonia and argue against a possible pharmacological artifact.

Abstract: We present a precise measurement of the standard model $CP$-violation parameter $\mathrm{sin} 2{\ensuremath{\phi}}_{1}$, the direct $CP$ violation parameter $|\ensuremath{\lambda}|$, the lifetimes of charged and neutral $B$ mesons and their ratio, and the ${B}^{0}$-${\overline{B}}^{0}$ mixing parameter $\ensuremath{\Delta}{m}_{d}$ based on a sample of $152\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $B\overline{B}$ pairs collected at the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider. One of two $B$ mesons is fully reconstructed in a $CP$-eigenstate or a flavor-eigenstate decay channel. The flavor of the accompanying $B$ meson is identified from its decay products. From the distributions of the time interval between the two $B$ meson decay points, we obtain $\mathrm{sin} 2{\ensuremath{\phi}}_{1}=0.728\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.056(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.023(\mathrm{syst})$, $|\ensuremath{\lambda}|=1.007\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.041(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.033(\mathrm{syst})$, ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}^{0}}=[1.534\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.010(\mathrm{syst})]\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{ps}$, ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}^{+}}=[1.635\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.011(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.011(\mathrm{syst})]\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{ps}$, ${\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}^{+}}/{\ensuremath{\tau}}_{{B}^{0}}=1.066\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008(\mathrm{syst})$ and $\ensuremath{\Delta}{m}_{d}=[0.511\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.005(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.006{(\mathrm{syst})]\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{ps}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. The results for $\mathrm{sin} 2{\ensuremath{\phi}}_{1}$ and $|\ensuremath{\lambda}|$ are consistent with the standard model expectations. The significance of the observed deviation from unity in the lifetime ratio exceeds 5 standard deviations.

Abstract: We report the observation of the radiative decay ${B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{1}(1270{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ using a data sample of $140\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{fb}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ taken at the $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider. We find the branching fraction to be $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{1}(1270{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}\mathbf{)}=\mathbf{(}4.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9(\mathrm{stat}.)\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.9(\mathrm{syst}.)\mathbf{)}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$ with a significance of $7.3\ensuremath{\sigma}$. We find no significant signal for ${B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{1}(1400{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ and set an upper limit $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{1}(1400{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\gamma}\mathbf{)}l1.5\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$ at the 90% confidence level. We also measure inclusive branching fractions for ${B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ and ${B}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{0}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ in the mass range $1\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{c}^{2}l{M}_{{K}^{+(0)}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}}l2\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{GeV}/{c}^{2}$.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the radiative hyperonic B decay B+ --plambdagamma, using a 140 fb(-1) data sample recorded on upsilom(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e+e- collider. The measured branching fraction is [symbol: see text](B+ --plambdagamma) = (2.16(+0.58)(-0.53) +/- 0.20) x 10(-6). We examine its M(plambda) distribution and observe a peak near threshold. This feature is expected by the short-distance b --sgamma transition. A search for B+ --pepsilon0gamma yields no significant signal, and we set a 90% confidence-level upper limit on the branching fraction of [symbol: see textB+ --pepsilon0gamma4.6 x 10(-6).

Abstract: We present a new measurement of CP-violation parameters in B(0)--K(0)(S)pi(0)gamma decay based on a sample of 275 x 10(6) BB pairs collected at the Gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. One of the B mesons is fully reconstructed in the B(0)--K(0)(S)pi(0)gamma decay. The flavor of the accompanying B meson is identified from its decay products. CP-violation parameters are obtained from the asymmetry in the distribution of the proper time intervals between the two B decays. We obtain SK(0)(S)(pi(0)gamma) = -0.58(+0.46)(-0.38)(stat) +/- 0.11(syst) and AK(0)(S)(pi(0)gamma) = +0.03 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.11(syst), for the K(0)(S)pi(0) invariant mass covering the full range up to 1.8 GeV/c2. We also measure the CP-violation parameters for the case B(0)--K(*0)(--K(0)(S)pi(0))gamma and obtain S(K(*0)gamma) = -0.79(+0.63)(-0.50)(stat) +/- 0.10(syst) for A(K(*0)gamma) fixed at 0.

Abstract: We report evidence for B(0) --D(0)D(-) and the first observation of the decay modes B(-) --D(0)D(-) and B(-) --D(0)D(*-) based on a sample of 152 x 10(6) BB events collected by the Belle detector at KEKB. The branching fractions for B(0) --D(+) D(-), B---D(0)D(-), and B--D(0)D(*-) are found to be (1.91 +/- 0.51 +/- 0.30) x10(-4), (4.83 +/- 0.78 +/- 0.58) x 10(-4), and (4.57 +/- 0.71 +/- 0.56) x 10(-4), respectively. Charge asymmetries in the B---D(0)D(-) and B(-) --D(0)D(*-) channels are consistent with zero.

Abstract: The decays ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ are studied for the first time. A significant signal is observed in the ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{*}(2317{)}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ decay channel with $\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{*}(2317{)}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}\mathbf{)}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\mathcal{B}\mathbf{(}{D}_{sJ}^{*}(2317{)}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{s}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}\mathbf{)}=({5.3}_{\ensuremath{-}1.3}^{+1.5}\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.7\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}1.4)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}5}$. No signals are observed in the ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}^{*}(2317{)}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$, ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}(2460{)}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, and ${\overline{B}}^{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{D}_{sJ}(2460{)}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ decay modes, and upper limits are obtained. The analysis is based on a data set of $140\text{ }{\mathrm{f}\mathrm{b}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ collected by the Belle experiment at the asymmetric ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ collider KEKB.

Abstract: We report improved measurements of the partial rate asymmetry (Acp) in B -> h h decays with 140fb^-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. Here h stands for a charged or neutral pion or kaon and in total five decay modes are included: K-+ pi+-, K0s pi-+, K-+ pi0, pi-+ pi0 and K0s pi0. The flavor of the last decay mode is determined from the accompanying B meson. Using a data sample 4.7 times larger than that of our previous measurement, we find Acp(K-+ pi+-) -0.088+-0.035+-0.013, 2.4 sigma from zero. Results for other decay modes are also presented.

263. Infrared Luminosity Function of the Coma Cluster

Abstract: Using mid-IR and optical data, we deduce the total infrared (IR) luminosities of galaxies in the Coma cluster and present their infrared luminosity function (LF). The shape of the overall Coma IR LF does not show significant differences from the IR LFs of the general field, which indicates the general independence of global galaxy star formation on environment up to densities $\sim$ 40 times greater than in the field (we cannot test such independence above $L_{ir} \approx 10^{44} {\rm ergs s}^{-1}$). However, a shallower faint end slope and a smaller $L_{ir}^{*}$ are found in the core region (where the densities are still higher) compared to the outskirt region of the cluster, and most of the brightest IR galaxies are found outside of the core region. The IR LF in the NGC 4839 group region does not show any unique characteristics. By integrating the IR LF, we find a total star formation rate in the cluster of about 97.0 $M_{\sun}{\rm yr}^{-1}$. We also studied the contributions of early- and late-type galaxies to the IR LF. The late-type galaxies dominate the bright end of the LF, and the early-type galaxies, although only making up a small portion ($\approx$ 15%) of the total IR emission of the cluster, contribute greatly to the number counts of the LF at $L_{ir} < 10^{43} {\rm ergs s}^{-1}$., 33 pages, 8 figures, 1 table. Abstract: Spitzer provides substantial advances for studies of external galaxies: 1.) it has the very high sensitivity toward extended, low‐surface‐brightness sources made possible by a cryogenic telescope in space; 2.) the use of large format arrays and projected pixel scales that sample the telescope image well provide substantial improvements in angular resolution compared with previous space infrared telescopes; and 3.) its spectrograph has wavelength resolution well‐suited to extragalactic studies, as well as high performance arrays that provide a major advance in sensitivity. We show how these capabilities are already leading to new possibilities in studying the structure of nearby galaxies. Combined with recent breakthroughs in high quality imaging at other wavelengths, we can anticipate a substantial improvement in our understanding of how different components of a galaxy relate to each other and how their interactions influence galaxy evolution. In addition, Spitzer is advancing our understanding of the behavior of the polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission features, as a function of environment and metallicity. New features are also being discovered due to the high‐sensitivity mapping capabilities of the spectrograph. An additional direction for research with Spitzer arises from its deep survey capabilities and the possibility of testing how the spectral energy distributions of galaxies evolve at large look‐back times.

Abstract: We present ultraviolet, optical, near-infrared, Spitzer mid-infrared, and radio images of 14 radio-selected objects in M 33. These objects are thought to represent the youngest phase of star cluster formation. We have detected the majority of cluster candidates in M 33 at all wavelengths. From the near-IR images, we derived ages 2-10 Myr, K_S-band extinctions (A_K_S) of 0-1 mag, and stellar masses of 10^3-10^4 M_solar. We have generated spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of each cluster from 0.1 micron to 160 microns. From these SEDs, we have modeled the dust emission around these star clusters to determine the dust masses (1-10^3 M_solar) and temperatures (40-90 K) of the clusters' local interstellar medium. Extinctions derived from the JHK_S, Halpha, and UV images are similar to within a factor of 2 or 3. These results suggest that eleven of the fourteen radio-selected objects are optically-visible young star clusters with a surrounding H II region, that two are background objects, possibly AGN, and that one is a Wolf-Rayet star with a surrounding H II region., Comment: 57 pages total; 20 figures; 3 tables under review by ApJS; first review complete

Abstract: We explore the galaxian luminosity-metallicity (L-Z) relationship in both the optical and the near-IR using a combination of optical photometric and spectroscopic observations from the KPNO International Spectroscopic Survey (KISS) and near-infrared photometry from the Two-micron All Sky Survey (2MASS). We supplement the 2MASS data with our own NIR photometry for a small number of lower-luminosity ELGs that are under-represented in the 2MASS database. Our B-band L-Z relationship includes 765 star-forming KISS galaxies with coarse abundance estimates from our follow-up spectra, while the correlation with KISS and 2MASS yields a total of 420 galaxies in our J-band L-Z relationship. We explore the effect that changing the correlation between the strong-line abundance diagnostic R_23 and metallicity has on the derived L-Z relation. We find that the slope of the L-Z relationship decreases as the wavelength of the luminosity bandpass increases. We interpret this as being, at least in part, an effect of internal absorption in the host galaxy. Furthermore, the dispersion in the L-Z relation decreases for the NIR bands, suggesting that variations in internal absorption contribute significantly to the observed scatter. We propose that our NIR L-Z relations are more fundamental than the B-band relation, since they are largely free of absorption effects and the NIR luminosities are more directly related to the stellar mass of the galaxy than are the optical luminosities., Comment: 22 pages, including 6 figures and 6 tables. Abstract: We report the observation of a near-threshold enhancement in the omegaJ/psi invariant mass distribution for exclusive B--KomegaJ/psi decays. The results are obtained from a 253 fb(-1) data sample that contains 275 x 10(6) BB pairs that were collected near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e(+)e(-) collider. The statistical significance of the omegaJ/psi mass enhancement is estimated to be greater than 8sigma.

Abstract: We report the observation of the decay B0--pi(0)pi(0), using a 253 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. The measured branching fraction is B(B0--pi(0)pi(0))=(2.3(+0.4+0.2)(-0.5-0.3))x10(-6), with a significance of 5.8 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties. We also make a measurement of the direct CP violating asymmetry in this mode.

Abstract: The CP asymmetry parameters in the decay B0(B0) → J/ψπ0, were described. The measurement of the CP asymmetry parameters was based on a 140 fb-1 data sample, which was accumulated at the γ(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. It was observed that one neutral B meson flavor was identified by its decay products. The results show values of the CP-violating parameters were found to be of the order of S J/ψπ o = -0.72∓0.42(stat)∓0.09(syst) and AJ/ψπ 0 = -0.01∓0.29(stat)∓0. 03(syst).

Abstract: We report the observation of the radiative decay B+--K1(1270)(+) gamma using a data sample of 140 fb(-1) taken at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We find the branching fraction to be B(B+--K1(1270)(+)gamma)=(4.3+/-0.9(stat.)+/-0.9(syst.))x10(-5) with a significance of 7.3sigma. We find no significant signal for B+--K1(1400)(+)gamma and set an upper limit B(B+--K1(1400)(+)gamma)1.5 x 10(-5) at the 90% confidence level. We also measure inclusive branching fractions for B+--K+pi+pi-gamma and B0--K0pi+pi-gamma in the mass range 1 GeV/c(2)M(K+(0)pi+pi-)2 GeV/c(2).

Abstract: We report a study of the suppressed decays B---[K(+)pi(-)](D)K- and B---[K(+)pi(-)](D)pi(-), where [K(+)pi(-)](D) indicates that the K+pi(-) pair originates from a neutral D meson. These decay modes are sensitive to the unitarity triangle angle varphi(3). We use a data sample containing 275 x 10(6) BB pairs recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e(+)e(-) storage ring. The signal for B---[K(+)pi(-)](D)K- is not statistically significant, and we set a limit r(B)0.27 at 90% confidence level, where r(B) is the magnitude of the ratio of amplitudes |A(B---D 0K-)/A(B---D0K-)|. We observe a signal with 6.4sigma statistical significance in the related mode, B---[K(+)pi(-)](D)pi(-).

Abstract: We report the first observation of the charmless hyperonic B decay, B+-->LambdaLambdaK+, using a 140 fb(-1) data sample recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB (e+)(e-) collider. The measured branching fraction is B(B+-->LambdaLambdaK+) = (2.91(+0.90)(-0.70) +/- 0.38) x 10(-6). We also perform a search for the related decay mode B+-->LambdaLambdapi+, but do not find a significant signal. We set a 90% confidence-level upper limit of B(B+-->LambdaLambdapi+) < 2.8 x 10(-6).

Abstract: The decays B0--D+sJK- and B0--D-sJpi+ are studied for the first time. A significant signal is observed in the B0--D*sJ(2317)+K- decay channel with B(B0--D*sJ(2317)+K-) x B(D*sJ(2317)+--D+spi0)=(5.3(+1.5)(-1.3)+/-0.7+/-1.4) x 10(-5). No signals are observed in the B0--D*sJ(2317)-pi+, B0--DsJ(2460)+K-, and B 0--DsJ(2460)-pi+ decay modes, and upper limits are obtained. The analysis is based on a data set of 140 fb(-1) collected by the Belle experiment at the asymmetric e+e- collider KEKB.

Abstract: We report a search for CP-violating asymmetry in B0-->D(*+/-)D-/+ decays. The analysis employs two methods of B0 reconstruction: full and partial. In the full reconstruction method all daughter particles of the B0 are required to be detected; the partial reconstruction technique requires a fully reconstructed D- and only a slow pion from the D(*+)-->D0pi(+)(slow) decay. From a fit to the distribution of the time interval corresponding to the distance between two B meson decay points we calculate the CP-violating parameters and find the significance of nonzero CP asymmetry to be 2.7 standard deviations.

Abstract: The evidence for direct charged particles (CP) violation in the decay B0→K+ π- was investigated with 253 fb-1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e + e- collider. 275 x 106 BB pairs were used to observe a B→K±π∓ signal with 2140 ±53 events. Mixing induced CP violation in the B sector was established in b → ccs transitions. The result suggests large interference between tree and penguin diagrams and the existence of final state interactions.

Abstract: We report on the first observation of D0/1(2420)--D0pi- pi+ and D+/1(2420--D+ pi- pi+ decays (where the contribution from the dominant known D1--D*pi decay mode is excluded) in the B- --D0/1pi-) and (-)B0--D+/1pi- decays, respectively. The observation is based on 15.2 x 10(7) B(-)B events collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider. We also set 90% confidence level upper limits for the branching fractions of the four following decays: B- --D0/1pi-, D01--D(*0)pi- pi+, (-)B0--D+/1pi-, D+/1--D(*+) pi- pi+, B- --D(*0)2(2460)pi-, D(*0)2 --D(*0) pi- pi+, (-)B0--D(*+)2(2460)pi-, D(*+)2--D(*+)pi- pi+.

Abstract: We present a new analysis of double charmonium production in ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ annihilation. The observation of the processes ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}$, $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c0}$, and $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}(2S)$ is confirmed using a data set more than 3 times larger than that of Belle's previous report, and no evidence for the process ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ is found. We perform an angular analysis for $J/\ensuremath{\psi}{\ensuremath{\eta}}_{c}$ production and set an upper limit on the production of $J/\ensuremath{\psi}J/\ensuremath{\psi}$. Processes of the type ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)(c\overline{c}{)}_{\mathrm{r}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{s}}$ have been observed for the first time; their rates are found to be comparable to those of ${e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}(c\overline{c}{)}_{\mathrm{r}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{s}}$ processes.

Abstract: We present a measurement of the unitarity triangle angle {phi}{sub 3} using a Dalitz plot analysis of the three-body decay of the neutral D meson from the B{sup {+-}}{yields}D{sup (*)}K{sup {+-}} process. The method employs the interference between D{sup 0} and D{sup 0} to extract both the weak and strong phases. We apply this method to a 140 fb{sup -1} data sample collected by the Belle experiment. The analysis uses the modes B{sup {+-}}{yields}DK{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}}{yields}D*K{sup {+-}}, D*{yields}D{pi}{sup 0}, where the neutral D meson decays into K{sub S}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}. We obtain 146 signal candidates for B{sup {+-}}{yields}DK{sup {+-}} and 39 candidates for B{sup {+-}}{yields}D*K{sup {+-}}. From a combined maximum likelihood fit to the B{sup {+-}}{yields}DK{sup {+-}} and B{sup {+-}}{yields}D*K{sup {+-}} modes, we obtain {phi}{sub 3}=77 deg. (+17 deg./-19 deg.)(stat){+-}13 deg. (syst){+-}11 deg. (model). The corresponding 2 standard deviation interval is 26 deg.

Abstract: The Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS) provides long wavelength capability for the mission, in imaging bands at 24, 70, and 160 microns and measurements of spectral energy distributions between 52 and 100 microns at a spectral resolution of about 7%. By using true detector arrays in each band, it provides both critical sampling of the Spitzer point spread function and relatively large imaging fields of view, allowing for substantial advances in sensitivity, angular resolution, and efficiency of areal coverage compared with previous space far-infrared capabilities. The Si:As BIB 24 micron array has excellent photometric properties, and measurements with rms relative errors of 1% or better can be obtained. The two longer wavelength arrays use Ge:Ga detectors with poor photometric stability. However, the use of 1.) a scan mirror to modulate the signals rapidly on these arrays, 2.) a system of on-board stimulators used for a relative calibration approximately every two minutes, and 3.) specialized reduction software result in good photometry with these arrays also, with rms relative errors of less than 10%.

Abstract: The first six months of flight data from the Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS) were used to test MIPS reduction algorithms based on extensive preflight laboratory data and modeling. The underlying approach for the preflight algorithms has been found to be sound, but some modifications have improved the performance. The main changes are scan mirror dependent flat fields at 24 μm, hand processing to remove the time dependent stim flash latents and fast/slow response variations at 70 μm, and the use of asteroids and other sources instead of stars for flux calibration at 160 μm due to a blue "leak." The photometric accuracy of flux measurements is currently 5%, 10%, and 20% at 24, 70, and 160 μm, respectively. These numbers are expected to improve as more flight data are analyzed and data reduction algorithms refined.

Abstract: We have searched for the decay ${B}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\omega}{l}^{+}\ensuremath{\nu}$ ($l=e$ or $\ensuremath{\mu}$) in $78\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{f}\mathrm{b}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ of $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(4S)$ data ($85\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{6}$$B\overline{B}$ events) accumulated with the Belle detector. The final state is fully reconstructed using the $\ensuremath{\omega}$ decay into ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$, combined with detector hermeticity to estimate the neutrino momentum. A signal of $414\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}125$ events is found in the data, corresponding to a branching fraction of $(1.3\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.2\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.3)\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, where the first two errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. The third error reflects the estimated form-factor uncertainty.

Abstract: We present the first evidence of the decay B0 --> rho0 pi0, using 140fb^-1 of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e+e- collider. We detect a signal with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations, and measure the branching fraction to be Br(B0 ->- rho0 pi0) = (5.1 +/- 1.6(stat) +/- 0.9(syst))*10^-6.

Abstract: We report a measurement of CP asymmetry parameters in the decay B0(B (0))--J/psipi(0), which is governed by the b--cc d transition. The analysis is based on a 140 fb(-1) data sample accumulated at the Upsilon(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. One neutral B meson in the J/psipi(0) final state is fully reconstructed for events used in this analysis. The accompanying B meson flavor is identified by its decay products. From the distribution of proper-time intervals between the two B decays, we obtain the following CP-violating parameters: S(J/psipi(0))=-0.72+/-0.42(stat)+/-0.09(syst) and A(J/psipi(0))=-0.01+/-0.29(stat)+/-0.03(syst).

Abstract: We report a fully inclusive measurement of the flavor changing neutral current decay $b\ensuremath{\rightarrow}s\ensuremath{\gamma}$ in the energy range $1.8\text{ }\mathrm{G}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{V}\ensuremath{\le}{E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{*}\ensuremath{\le}2.8\text{ }\mathrm{G}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{V}$, covering 95% of the total spectrum. Using $140\text{ }\mathrm{f}{\mathrm{b}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathrm{1}}$, we obtain $\mathcal{B}(b\ensuremath{\rightarrow}s\ensuremath{\gamma})=(3.55\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}{0.32}_{\ensuremath{-}0.31\ensuremath{-}0.07}^{+0.30+0.11})\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{10}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$, where the errors are statistical, systematic, and from theory corrections. We also measure the first and second moments of the photon energy spectrum above $1.8\text{ }\mathrm{G}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{V}$ and obtain $\ensuremath{\langle}{E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}\ensuremath{\rangle}=2.292\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.026\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.034\text{ }\mathrm{G}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{V}$ and $\ensuremath{\langle}{E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{2}\ensuremath{\rangle}\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\langle}{E}_{\ensuremath{\gamma}}{\ensuremath{\rangle}}^{2}=0.0305\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.0074\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.0063\text{ }{\mathrm{G}\mathrm{e}\mathrm{V}}^{2}$, where the errors are statistical and systematic.

Abstract: The observation of the decay B+→ψ(3770)K+, where the ψ(3770) was constructed in the D0D0 and D+D- decay channels, was reported. The branching fraction for the decay was measured and a 90% confidence level upper limit was set for the decay. Data was collected at the Y(4S) resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider. Candidate π0 mesons were identified as pairs of non-charged-track-associated electromagnetic calorimeter clusters.

Abstract: We report measurements of time dependent decay rates for $B^0(\bar{B}^0) \to D^{(*)\mp}\pi^{\pm}$ decays and extraction of CP violation parameters containing $\phi_3$. Using fully reconstructed $D^{(*)}\pi$ events from a $140 {\rm fb}^{-1}$ data sample collected at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance, we obtain the CP violation parameters for $D^* \pi$ and $D \pi$ decays, $2R_{D^{(*)} \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3 \pm \delta_{D^{(*)} \pi})$, where $R_{D^{(*)} \pi}$ is the ratio of the magnitudes of the doubly-Cabibbo-suppressed and Cabibbo-favoured amplitudes, and $\delta_{D^{(*)} \pi}$ is the strong phase difference between them. Under the assumption of $\delta_{D^{(*)} \pi}$ being close to either 0 or $180^{\circ}$, we obtain $|2R_{D^* \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3)| = 0.060 \pm 0.040(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.019(\mathrm{sys})$ and $|2R_{D \pi} \sin (2\phi_1 + \phi_3)| = 0.061 \pm 0.037(\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.018(\mathrm{sys})$.

Abstract: We report improved measurements of branching fractions for charmless hadronic two-body B meson decays containing an ω meson in the final state. The results are based on a data sample of 78 fb-1 collected on the Y(4S) resonance by the Belle detector. We measure the branching fractions B(B+→ωK+) = (6.5-1.2 +1.3±0.6) × 10-6 and B(B +→ωπ+) = (5.7-1.3 +1.4±0.6) × 10-6. We give 90% confidence upper limits for B(B0→ωK0)

Abstract: The measurements of time-dependent decay rates for B 0(B0) → D(*)∓π ∓ decays and extraction of CP violation parameters containing φ3 were discussed. It was found that a 140 fb-1 data sample, which contained 152 × 106 BB events, was used in the measurement. Charged leptons, pions and kaons were used to identify the flavor of the accompanying B meson. The results show that |2R D*π sin(2φ1 + φ3)| = 0.060 ± 0.040(stat) ± 0.019(syst) can be obtained.

Abstract: The CP violation parameters in Bo → π +π- decay were investigated. The flavor of the accompanying B meson was identified by reconstructing B o→π+π- CP eigenstate. It was observed that the expected sensitivity was optimized using the ratio LR. The study showed that there was a direct CP violation with a significance at or greater than 3.2σ.

Abstract: The CP asymmetry in the B → Xsγ, where hadronic recoil system Xs is reconstructed, was investigated using pseudoreconstruction technique. Negligible contamination from b → dγ decays was observed, which were expected to have larger CP asymmetry. The qq and BB distributions were obtained from off-resonance data and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation. The results show that 50% error is assigned to Gaussian width and to ratio of the Gaussian and ARGUS function for rare B decays.

Abstract: We report the results of a study of charged B decays to the D(+/-)pi(-/+)pi(-/+) and D(*+/-)pi(-/+)pi(-/+) final states using complete D-(*) reconstruction. The contributions of two-body B-->D**pi decays with narrow (j=3/2) and broad (j=1/2) D** states have been determined and the masses and widths of four D** states have been measured. This is the first observation of the broad P-wave D-0*(0) and D'(0)(1) mesons. The analysis is based on a data sample of 65 million B(B) over bar pairs collected in the Belle experiment.

Abstract: We report measurements of the radiative decay B --> K^*\gamma. The analysis is based on a data sample containing 85.0*10^6 B meson pairs collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB storage ring. We measure branching fractions of Br(B^0 --> K^{*0}\gamma) = (4.01 \pm 0.21 \pm 0.17)*10^{-5} and Br(B^+ --> K^{*+}\gamma) = (4.25 \pm 0.31 \pm 0.24)*10^{-5}, where the first and second errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. The isospin asymmetry between B^0 and B^+ decay widths is measured to be \Delta_{0+} = +0.012 \pm 0.044 \pm 0.026. We search for a partial rate asymmetry between CP conjugate modes, and find A_{cp}(B --> K^*\gamma) = =0.015 \pm 0.044 \pm 0.012.

Abstract: We report the first observation of the charmless hyperonic B decay, B+--LambdaLambdaK+, using a 140 fb(-1) data sample recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB (e+)(e-) collider. The measured branching fraction is B(B+--LambdaLambdaK+) = (2.91(+0.90)(-0.70) +/- 0.38) x 10(-6). We also perform a search for the related decay mode B+--LambdaLambdapi+, but do not find a significant signal. We set a 90% confidence-level upper limit of B(B+--LambdaLambdapi+)2.8 x 10(-6).

Abstract: We report a measurement of the branching fraction for the decay B+ --rho(+) pi(0) based on a 140 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. We measure the branching fraction B(B(+) --rho(+)pi(0)) = (13.2 +/- 2.3(stat)(+1.4)(-1.9)(syst)) x 10(-6), and the CP-violating asymmetry A(CP)(B-/+ --rho(-/+)pi(0))=0.06 +/- 0.17(stat)(+0.04)(-0.05)(syst).

Abstract: We present the first evidence of the decay B0--rho(0)pi(0), using 140 fb(-1) of data collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e(+)e(-) collider. We detect 15.1+/-4.8 signal events with a significance of 3.5 standard deviations and measure the branching fraction to be B(B0--rho(0)pi(0))=(5.1+/-1.6(stat)+/-0.9(syst))x10(-6).

Abstract: We report measurements of time dependent decay rates for B0(B(0))--D((*)-/+)pi(+/-) decays and extraction of CP violation parameters containing phi(3). Using fully reconstructed D((*))pi events from a 140 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance, we obtain the CP violation parameters for D(*)pi and Dpi decays, 2R(D((*))pi)sin((2phi(1)+phi(3)+/-delta(D((*))pi)), where R(D((*))pi) is the ratio of the magnitudes of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed and Cabibbo-favored amplitudes, and delta(D((*))pi) is the strong phase difference between them. Under the assumption of delta(D((*))pi) being close to either 0 degrees or 180 degrees, we obtain |2R(D(*)pi)sin((2phi(1)+phi(3))|=0.060+/-0.040(stat)+/-0.019(syst) and |2R(Dpi)sin((2phi(1)+phi(3))|=0.061+/-0.037(stat)+/-0.018(syst).

Abstract: We report the measurement of an inclusive partial branching fraction for charmless semileptonic B decay and the extraction of /V(ub)/. Candidates for B-->X(u)lnu are identified with a novel X(u) reconstruction method based on neutrino reconstruction via missing 4-momentum and a technique called "simulated annealing." Based on 86.9 fb(-1) of data taken with the Belle detector, we obtain DeltaB(B-->X(u)lnu;M(X) 8.0 GeV2/c2)=[7.37+/-0.89(stat)+/-1.12(syst)+/-0.55(b-->c)+/-0.24(b-->u)]x10(-4) and determine |V(ub)|=[4.66+/-0.28(stat)+/-0.35(syst)+/-0.17(b-->c)+/-0.08(b-->u)+/-0.58(theory)]x10(-3).

Abstract: We have searched for the decay B+--omegal(+)nu (l=e or mu) in 78 fb(-1) of Upsilon(4S) data (85x10(6)BB events) accumulated with the Belle detector. The final state is fully reconstructed using the omega decay into pi(+)pi(-)pi(0), combined with detector hermeticity to estimate the neutrino momentum. A signal of 414+/-125 events is found in the data, corresponding to a branching fraction of (1.3+/-0.4+/-0.2+/-0.3)x10(-4), where the first two errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. The third error reflects the estimated form-factor uncertainty.

Abstract: The radiative decay B-->phi K gamma is observed for the first time. The branching fraction for the charged B--->phi K- gamma decay mode is measured to be B(B--->phi K- gamma)=(3.4+/-0.9+/-0.4)x10(-6). The photon energy distribution for the B--->phi K- gamma decay is presented. The signal for the neutral B(0)-->phi K(0)gamma decay mode is not statistically significant and an upper limit, B(B(0)-->phi K(0)gamma)

Abstract: We report the results of a search for B- → J/ ψ Λp based on a data set of 78 fb-1 data collected at the Y(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric e - collider. No substantial signal is found, and we set the branching fraction upper limit Β(- → J/ ψ Λp)
