251. HDR Environment Map Estimation for Real-Time Augmented Reality

Abstract: We present a method to estimate an HDR environment map from a narrow field-of-view LDR camera image in real-time. This enables perceptually appealing reflections and shading on virtual objects of any material finish, from mirror to diffuse, rendered into a real physical environment using augmented reality. Our method is based on our efficient convolutional neural network architecture, EnvMapNet, trained end-to-end with two novel losses, ProjectionLoss for the generated image, and ClusterLoss for adversarial training. Through qualitative and quantitative comparison to state-of-the-art methods, we demonstrate that our algorithm reduces the directional error of estimated light sources by more than 50%, and achieves 3.7 times lower Frechet Inception Distance (FID). 252. Bounds for the multilevel construction

Abstract: One of the main problems in random network coding is to compute good lower and upper bounds on the achievable cardinality of the so-called subspace codes in the projective space $\mathcal{P}_q(n)$ for a given minimum distance. The determination of the exact maximum cardinality is a very tough discrete optimization problem involving a huge number of symmetries. Besides some explicit constructions for \textit{good} subspace codes several of the most success full constructions involve the solution of discrete optimization subproblems itself, which mostly have not been not been solved systematically. Here we consider the multilevel a.k.a.\ Echelon--Ferrers construction and given lower and upper bounds for the achievable cardinalities. 253. Occams Razor for Big Data? On Detecting Quality in Large Unstructured Datasets

Abstract: Detecting quality in large unstructured datasets requires capacities far beyond the limits of human perception and communicability and, as a result, there is an emerging trend towards increasingly complex analytic solutions in data science to cope with this problem. This new trend towards analytic complexity represents a severe challenge for the principle of parsimony or Occams Razor in science. This review article combines insight from various domains such as physics, computational science, data engineering, and cognitive science to review the specific properties of big data. Problems for detecting data quality without losing the principle of parsimony are then highlighted on the basis of specific examples. Computational building block approaches for data clustering can help to deal with large unstructured datasets in minimized computation time, and meaning can be extracted rapidly from large sets of unstructured image or video data parsimoniously through relatively simple unsupervised machine learning algorithms. Why we still massively lack in expertise for exploiting big data wisely to extract relevant information for specific tasks, recognize patterns, generate new information, or store and further process large amounts of sensor data is then reviewed; examples illustrating why we need subjective views and pragmatic methods to analyze big data contents are brought forward. The review concludes on how cultural differences between East and West are likely to affect the course of big data analytics, and the development of increasingly autonomous artificial intelligence aimed at coping with the big data deluge in the near future.

254. Classification of $\Delta$-divisible linear codes spanned by codewords of weight $\Delta$

Abstract: We classify all $q$-ary $\Delta$-divisible linear codes which are spanned by codewords of weight $\Delta$. The basic building blocks are the simplex codes, and for $q=2$ additionally the first order Reed-Muller codes and the parity check codes. This generalizes a result of Pless and Sloane, where the binary self-orthogonal codes spanned by codewords of weight $4$ have been classified, which is the case $q=2$ and $\Delta=4$ of our classification. 255. A generalization of the cylinder conjecture for divisible codes

Abstract: We extend the original cylinder conjecture on point sets in affine three-dimensional space to the more general framework of divisible linear codes over $\mathbb{F}_q$ and their classification. Through a mix of linear programming, combinatorial techniques and computer enumeration, we investigate the structural properties of these codes. In this way, we can prove a reduction theorem for a generalization of the cylinder conjecture, show some instances where it does not hold and prove its validity for small values of $q$. In particular, we correct a flawed proof for the original cylinder conjecture for $q = 5$ and present the first proof for $q = 7$., Comment: 16 pages

256. The GosipGUI framework for control and benchmarking of readout electronics front-ends

Abstract: The GOSIP (Gigabit Optical Serial Interface Protocol) provides communication via optical fibres between multiple kinds of front-end electronics and the KINPEX PCIe receiver board located in the readout host PC. In recent years a stack of device driver software has been developed to utilize this hardware for several scenarios of data acquisition. On top of this driver foundation, several graphical user interfaces (GUIs) have been created. These GUIs are based on the Qt graphics libraries and are designed in a modular way: All common functionalities, like generic I/O with the front-ends, handling of configuration files, and window settings, are treated by a framework class GosipGUI. In the Qt workspace of such GosipGUI frame, specific sub classes may implement additional windows dedicated to operate different GOSIP front-end modules. These readout modules developed by GSI Experiment Electronics department are for instance FEBEX sampling ADCs, TAMEX FPGA-TDCs, or POLAND QFWs. For each kind of front-end the GUIs allow to monitor specific register contents, to set up the working configuration, and to interactively change parameters like sampling thresholds during data acquisition. The latter is extremely useful when qualifying and tuning the front-ends in the electronics lab or detector cave. Moreover, some of these GosipGUI implementations have been equipped with features for mostly automatic testing of ASICs in a prototype mass production. Abstract: The neutron-rich $^{213}$Pb isotope was produced in the fragmentation of a primary 1 GeV $A$ $^{238}$U beam, separated in FRS in mass and atomic number, and then implanted for isomer decay $\gamma$-ray spectroscopy with the RISING setup at GSI. A newly observed isomer and its measured decay properties indicate that states in $^{213}$Pb are characterized by the seniority quantum number that counts the nucleons not in pairs coupled to angular momentum $J=0$. The conservation of seniority is a consequence of the Berry phase associated with particle-hole conjugation, which becomes gauge invariant and therefore observable in semi-magic nuclei where nucleons half-fill the valence shell. The $\gamma$-ray spectroscopic observables in $^{213}$Pb are thus found to be driven by two mechanisms, particle-hole conjugation and seniority conservation, which are intertwined through the Berry phase.

Abstract: Deep learning (DL) has remarkably impacted several different scientific disciplines over the last few years. E.g., in image processing and analysis, DL algorithms were able to outperform other cutting-edge methods. Additionally, DL has delivered state-of-the-art results in tasks like autonomous driving, outclassing previous attempts. There are even instances where DL outperformed humans, for example with object recognition and gaming. DL is also showing vast potential in the medical domain. With the collection of large quantities of patient records and data, and a trend towards personalized treatments, there is a great need for automated and reliable processing and analysis of health information. Patient data is not only collected in clinical centers, like hospitals and private practices, but also by mobile healthcare apps or online websites. The abundance of collected patient data and the recent growth in the DL field has resulted in a large increase in research efforts. In Q2/2020, the search engine PubMed returned already over 11,000 results for the search term 'deep learning', and around 90% of these publications are from the last three years. However, even though PubMed represents the largest search engine in the medical field, it does not cover all medical-related publications. Hence, a complete overview of the field of 'medical deep learning' is almost impossible to obtain and acquiring a full overview of medical sub-fields is becoming increasingly more difficult. Nevertheless, several review and survey articles about medical DL have been published within the last few years. They focus, in general, on specific medical scenarios, like the analysis of medical images containing specific pathologies. 259. Formally Verified SAT-Based AI Planning

Abstract: We present an executable formally verified SAT encoding of classical AI planning. We use the theorem prover Isabelle/HOL to perform the verification. We experimentally test the verified encoding and show that it can be used for reasonably sized standard planning benchmarks. We also use it as a reference to test a state-of-the-art SAT-based planner, showing that it sometimes falsely claims that problems have no solutions of certain lengths.

260. Efficient Storage Schemes for Desired Service Rate Regions

Abstract: A major concern in cloud/edge storage systems is serving a large number of users simultaneously. The service rate region is introduced recently as an important performance metric for coded distributed systems, which is defined as the set of all data access requests that can be simultaneously handled by the system. This paper studies the problem of designing a coded distributed storage system storing k files where a desired service rate region R of the system is given and the goal is 1) to determine the minimum number of storage nodes n(R) (or a lower bound on n(R)) for serving all demand vectors inside the set R and 2) to design the most storage-efficient redundancy scheme with the service rate region covering R. Towards this goal, we propose three general lower bounds for n(R). Also, for k=2, we characterize n(R), i.e., we show that the proposed lower bounds are tight via designing a novel storage-efficient redundancy scheme with n(R) storage nodes and the service rate region covering R.

261. A Perspective on Machine Learning Methods in Turbulence Modelling

Abstract: This work presents a review of the current state of research in data-driven turbulence closure modeling. It offers a perspective on the challenges and open issues, but also on the advantages and promises of machine learning methods applied to parameter estimation, model identification, closure term reconstruction and beyond, mostly from the perspective of Large Eddy Simulation and related techniques. We stress that consistency of the training data, the model, the underlying physics and the discretization is a key issue that needs to be considered for a successful ML-augmented modeling strategy. In order to make the discussion useful for non-experts in either field, we introduce both the modeling problem in turbulence as well as the prominent ML paradigms and methods in a concise and self-consistent manner. 263. A machine learning framework for LES closure terms

Abstract: In the present work, we explore the capability of artificial neural networks (ANN) to predict the closure terms for large eddy simulations (LES) solely from coarse-scale data. To this end, we derive a consistent framework for LES closure models, with special emphasis laid upon the incorporation of implicit discretization-based filters and numerical approximation errors. We investigate implicit filter types, which are inspired by the solution representation of discontinuous Galerkin and finite volume schemes and mimic the behaviour of the discretization operator, and a global Fourier cutoff filter as a representative of a typical explicit LES filter. Within the perfect LES framework, we compute the exact closure terms for the different LES filter functions from direct numerical simulation results of decaying homogeneous isotropic turbulence. Multiple ANN with a multilayer perceptron (MLP) or a gated recurrent unit (GRU) architecture are trained to predict the computed closure terms solely from coarse-scale input data. For the given application, the GRU architecture clearly outperforms the MLP networks in terms of accuracy, whilst reaching up to 99.9% cross-correlation between the networks' predictions and the exact closure terms for all considered filter functions. The GRU networks are also shown to generalize well across different LES filters and resolutions. The present study can thus be seen as a starting point for the investigation of data-based modeling approaches for LES, which not only include the physical closure terms, but account for the discretization effects in implicitly filtered LES as well.

Abstract: We report on first measurements of branching fractions~($\mathcal{B}$) and CP-violating charge asymmetries~($\mathcal{A}$) in charmless $B$ decays at Belle~II. We use a sample of electron-positron collisions collected in 2019 and 2020 at the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance and corresponding to $34.6$\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We use simulation to determine optimized event selections. The $\Delta E$ distributions of the resulting samples, restricted in $M_{\rm bc}$, are fit to determine signal yields. Signal yields are corrected for efficiencies determined from simulation and control data samples to obtain branching fractions and CP-violating asymmetries for flavour-specific channels. These are the first measurements in charmless decays reported by Belle~II. Results are compatible with known determinations and show detector performance comparable with the best Belle results offering a reliable basis to assess projections for future reach., Comment: 33 pages, 22 figures. Abstract: We present measurements of the first six hadronic mass moments in semileptonic $B \rightarrow X_c \ell \nu $ decays. The hadronic mass moments, together with other observables of inclusive $B$ decays, can be used to determine the CKM matrix element $|{V_{cb}}|$ and mass of the $b$-quark $m_b$ in the context of Heavy Quark Expansions of QCD. The Belle~II data recorded at the $\Upsilon (4S)$ resonance in 2019 and 2020 (March-July), corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $34.6\;\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$, is used for this measurement. The decay $\Upsilon (4S) \rightarrow B \overline{B}$ is reconstructed by applying the hadronic tagging algorithm provided by the Full Event Interpretation to fully reconstruct one $B$ meson. The second $B$ meson is reconstructed inclusively by selecting a high-momentum lepton. The $X_c$ system is identified by the remaining reconstructed tracks and clusters in the electromagnetic calorimeter. We report preliminary results for the hadronic mass moments $\langle M_X^n \rangle $ with $n=1,\dots,6$, measured as a function of a lower cut on the lepton momentum in the signal $B$ rest frame.

Abstract: We present a first measurement of the $\bar{B^{0}} \rightarrow D^{*+} \ell^{-} \nu_{\ell}$ branching fraction using fully reconstructed $B$ meson decays employing the Full Event Interpretation algorithm. Collision events corresponding to an integrated luminosity of \lumi are analyzed, which were recorded by the Belle~II detector operated at the SuperKEKB accelerator complex. We measure$\cal{B}(\bar{B^{0}} \rightarrow D^{*+} \ell^{-} \nu_{\ell}) =4.51 \pm 0.41_{stat}\pm0.27_{syst} \pm0.45_{\pi_s}$, with the first and second error denoting the statistical and systematic uncertainty, respectively, and the third dominant uncertainty is from the slow pion reconstruction efficiency., Comment: 15 pages, 4 figures, ICHEP 2020

Abstract: The evolution of the traditional nuclear magic numbers away from the valley of stability is an active field of research. Experimental efforts focus on providing key spectroscopic information that will shed light into the structure of exotic nuclei and understanding the driving mechanism behind the shell evolution. In this work, we investigate the Z = 6 spin-orbit shell gap towards the neutron dripline. To do so, we employed $^{A}$N(p,2p)$^{A-1}$C quasi-free scattering reactions to measure the proton component of the 2$^+_1$ state of $^{16,18,20}$C. The experimental findings support the notion of a moderate reduction of the proton 1p$_{1/2}$-1p$_{3/2}$ spin-orbit splitting, at variance to recent claims for a prevalent Z = 6 magic number towards the neutron dripline., Comment: 27 pages, 5 figures, 2 tables. 268. Logic-Induced Bisimulations

Abstract: We define a new logic-induced notion of bisimulation (called $\rho$-bisimulation) for coalgebraic modal logics given by a logical connection, and investigate its properties. We show that it is structural in the sense that it is defined only in terms of the coalgebra structure and the one-step modal semantics and, moreover, can be characterised by a form of relation lifting. Furthermore we compare $\rho$-bisimulations to several well-known equivalence notions, and we prove that the collection of bisimulations between two models often forms a complete lattice. The main technical result is a Hennessy-Milner type theorem which states that, under certain conditions, logical equivalence implies $\rho$-bisimilarity. In particular, the latter does \emph{not} rely on a duality between functors $\mathsf{T}$ (the type of the coalgebras) and $\mathsf{L}$ (which gives the logic), nor on properties of the logical connection $\rho$.

Abstract: We present the results of the re-discovery of the decay $B^0 \to \pi^- \ell^+ \nu_\ell$ in 34.6 fb$^{-1}$ of Belle II data using hadronic $B$-tagging via the Full Event Interpretation algorithm. We observe 21 signal events on a background of 155 in a fit to the distribution of the square of the missing mass, $M_{\mathrm{miss}}^2$, with a significance of 5.69$\sigma$, and determine a total branching fraction of (1.58 $\pm$ 0.43$_{\mathrm{stat}}$ $\pm$ 0.07$_{\mathrm{sys}}$) $\times 10^{-4}$.

Abstract: We report measurements of the $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} \ell^{-} \bar{\nu}_l$ and $B^- \to D^{0} \ell^{-} \bar{\nu}_l$ processes using 34.6 fb$^{-1}$ of collision events recorded by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. For the $B^-\to D^{0}\ell^-\bar\nu_\ell$ channel, we present first studies that isolate this decay from other semileptonic processes and backgrounds. We report a measurement of the $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} \ell^{-} \bar{\nu}_l$ branching fraction and obtain ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} \ell^{-} \bar{\nu}_l) = \left(4.60 \pm 0.05_{\mathrm{stat}}\pm0.17_{\mathrm{syst}} \pm 0.45_{\pi_s}\right) \%$, in agreement with the world average. Here, the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and related to slow pion reconstruction, respectively. The systematic uncertainties are limited by the statistics of auxiliary measurements and will improve in the future. We also report differential branching fractions in five bins of the hadronic recoil parameter $w$ for $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} \ell^{-} \bar{\nu}_l$, unfolded to account for resolution and efficiency effects., Comment: 19 pages, 6 figures

Abstract: Tag-side reconstruction is an important method for reconstructing $B$ meson decays with missing energy. The Belle II tag-side reconstruction algorithm, Full Event Interpretation, relies on a hierarchical reconstruction of $B$ meson decays with multivariate classification employed at each stage of reconstruction. Given the large numbers of classifiers employed and decay chains reconstructed, the performance of the algorithm on data and simulation differs significantly. Here, calibration factors are derived for hadronic tag-side $B$ decays by measuring a signal side decay, $B \rightarrow X\ell \nu$, in $34.6$ fb$^{-1}$ of Belle II data. For a very loose selection on the tag-side $B$ multivariate classifier, the calibration factors are $0.65 \pm 0.02$ and $0.83 \pm 0.03$ for tag-side $B^{+}$ and $B^{0}$ mesons, respectively.

Abstract: The reconstruction of tau-pair production, $e^{+}e^{-} \to \tau^{+}\tau^{-}$, from the subsequent 3-prong ($\tau^{+} \rightarrow \pi^{+} \pi^{-} \pi^{+} \bar{\nu}_{\tau}$) and 1-prong ($\tau^{-} \to \ell^{-} \bar{\nu}_{\ell} \nu_{\tau}$, $\tau^{-} \to h^{-} \nu_{\tau}$ or $\tau^{-} \to \pi^{-} \pi^0 \nu_{\tau}$) decays, is presented using 8.8 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data of Belle II at the center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = m_{\Upsilon(4S)}$. The pseudomass technique developed by the ARGUS experiment is used to measure the $\tau$-lepton mass $m_{\tau}$ in the 3-prong $\tau^{+} \to \pi^{+} \pi^{-} \pi^{+} \bar{\nu}_{\tau} $ decay, resulting in $m_{\tau} = 1777.28 \pm 0.75~{\rm (stat.)} \pm 0.33 ~{\rm (sys.)}~{\rm{MeV}/\rm{c}^2}$.

273. An Efficient Sliding Mesh Interface Method for High-Order Discontinuous Galerkin Schemes

Abstract: Sliding meshes are a powerful method to treat deformed domains in computational fluid dynamics, where different parts of the domain are in relative motion. In this paper, we present an efficient implementation of a sliding mesh method into a discontinuous Galerkin compressible Navier-Stokes solver and its application to a large eddy simulation of a 1-1/2 stage turbine. The method is based on the mortar method and is high-order accurate. It can handle three-dimensional sliding mesh interfaces with various interface shapes. For plane interfaces, which are the most common case, conservativity and free-stream preservation are ensured. We put an emphasis on efficient parallel implementation. Our implementation generates little computational and storage overhead. Inter-node communication via MPI in a dynamically changing mesh topology is reduced to a bare minimum by ensuring a priori information about communication partners and data sorting. We provide performance and scaling results showing the capability of the implementation strategy. Apart from analytical validation computations and convergence results, we present a wall-resolved implicit LES of the 1-1/2 stage Aachen turbine test case as a large scale practical application example.

Abstract: We utilize a sample of 34.6 fb$^{-1}$, collected by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric energy $e^+e^-$ collider, to search for the $B^+ \to \phi K^+$, $B^+ \to \phi K^{*+}$, $B^0 \to \phi K^0_S$, and $B^0 \to \phi K^{*0}$ decays. Charmless hadronic $B$ decays represent an important part of the Belle II physics program, and are an ideal benchmark to test the detector capabilities in terms of tracking efficiency, charged particle identification, vertexing, and advanced analysis techniques. Each channel is observed with a significance that exceeds 5 standard deviations, and we obtain measurements of their branching ratios that are in good agreement with the world averages. For the $B \to \phi K^*$ modes, we also perform a measurement of the longitudinal polarization fraction $f_L$., Comment: 19 pages, 6 figures

Abstract: We report on the first calibration of the standard Belle II $B$-flavor tagger using the full data set collected at the $\Upsilon(4{\rm S})$ resonance in 2019 with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider, corresponding to 8.7 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. The calibration is performed by reconstructing various hadronic charmed $B$-meson decays with flavor-specific final states. We use simulation to optimize our event selection criteria and to train the flavor tagging algorithm. We determine the tagging efficiency and the fraction of wrongly identified tag-side $B$~candidates from a measurement of the time-integrated $B^0-\overline{B}^0$ mixing probability. The total effective efficiency is measured to be $\varepsilon_{\rm eff} = \big(33.8 \pm 3.6(\text{stat}) \pm 1.6(\text{sys})\big)\%$, which is in good agreement with the predictions from simulation and comparable with the best one obtained by the Belle experiment. Abstract: We present a search for the direct production of a light pseudoscalar $a$ decaying into two photons with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We search for the process ${e^+e^-\to\gamma a, a \to\gamma\gamma}$ in the mass range ${0.2} \,< m_a < {9.7}\,{\text{GeV/$c$}^2}$ using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $(445\pm 3)\,\text{pb}^{-1}$. Light pseudoscalars interacting predominantly with standard model gauge bosons (so-called axion-like particles or ALPs) are frequently postulated in extensions of the standard model. We find no evidence for ALPs and set 95% confidence level upper limits on the coupling strength $g_{a\gamma\gamma}$ of ALPs to photons at the level of $10^{-3}\,{\text{GeV}^{-1}}$. Abstract: We present a coupling of the Finite Element and the Boundary Element Method in an isogeometric framework to approximate either two-dimensional Laplace interface problems or boundary value problems consisting in two disjoint domains. We consider the Finite Element Method in the bounded domains to simulate possibly non-linear materials. The Boundary Element Method is applied in unbounded or thin domains where the material behavior is linear. The isogeometric framework allows to combine different design and analysis tools: first, we consider the same type of NURBS parameterizations for an exact geometry representation and second, we use the numerical analysis for the Galerkin approximation. Moreover, it facilitates to perform h- and p-refinements. For the sake of analysis, we consider the framework of strongly monotone and Lipschitz continuous operators to ensure well-posedness of the coupled system. Furthermore, we provide an a priori error estimate. We additionally show an improved convergence behavior for the errors in functionals of the solution that may double the rate under certain assumptions. Numerical examples conclude the work which illustrate the theoretical results.

278. EAGLE: Large-scale Vehicle Detection Dataset in Real-World Scenarios using Aerial Imagery

Abstract: Multi-class vehicle detection from airborne imagery with orientation estimation is an important task in the near and remote vision domains with applications in traffic monitoring and disaster management. In the last decade, we have witnessed significant progress in object detection in ground imagery, but it is still in its infancy in airborne imagery, mostly due to the scarcity of diverse and large-scale datasets. Despite being a useful tool for different applications, current airborne datasets only partially reflect the challenges of real-world scenarios. To address this issue, we introduce EAGLE (oriEnted vehicle detection using Aerial imaGery in real-worLd scEnarios), a large-scale dataset for multi-class vehicle detection with object orientation information in aerial imagery. It features high-resolution aerial images composed of different real-world situations with a wide variety of camera sensor, resolution, flight altitude, weather, illumination, haze, shadow, time, city, country, occlusion, and camera angle. The annotation was done by airborne imagery experts with small- and large-vehicle classes. EAGLE contains 215,986 instances annotated with oriented bounding boxes defined by four points and orientation, making it by far the largest dataset to date in this task. It also supports researches on the haze and shadow removal as well as super-resolution and in-painting applications. We define three tasks: detection by (1) horizontal bounding boxes, (2) rotated bounding boxes, and (3) oriented bounding boxes. We carried out several experiments to evaluate several state-of-the-art methods in object detection on our dataset to form a baseline. Abstract: We report on the reconstruction of various charmless $B$ decays from electron-positron collisions at the energy corresponding to the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance collected with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We use simulation to devise optimized event selections and apply them to the full data set collected in 2019, corresponding to 8.7\,fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity. We fit the difference between half of the collision energy and the $B$ candidate energy (in the $\Upsilon(4S)$ frame) for events restricted to a signal-rich range in beam-energy-constrained mass to search for charmless signals. Signal yields of approximately 80, 15, 20, 30, 90, and 160 decays are reconstructed for the channels $B^0 \to K^+\pi^-$, $B^0 \to \pi^+\pi^-$, $B^+ \to K^0_S(\to \pi^+\pi^-)\pi^+$, $B^+ \to K^+\pi^0(\to \gamma\gamma)$, $B^+ \to K^+K^-K^+$, and $B^+ \to K^+\pi^-\pi^+$, respectively. Yields and background contaminations are compatible with those expected from simulation and comparable with those obtained by the Belle experiment. 284. Neural Entity Linking on Technical Service Tickets

Abstract: Entity linking, the task of mapping textual mentions to known entities, has recently been tackled using contextualized neural networks. We address the question whether these results -- reported for large, high-quality datasets such as Wikipedia -- transfer to practical business use cases, where labels are scarce, text is low-quality, and terminology is highly domain-specific. Using an entity linking model based on BERT, a popular transformer network in natural language processing, we show that a neural approach outperforms and complements hand-coded heuristics, with improvements of about 20% top-1 accuracy. Also, the benefits of transfer learning on a large corpus are demonstrated, while fine-tuning proves difficult. Finally, we compare different BERT-based architectures and show that a simple sentence-wise encoding (Bi-Encoder) offers a fast yet efficient search in practice.

Abstract: This document presents the measurement of $B^0$ meson lifetimes using the 2019 Belle II dataset that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of $8.7 \pm 0.2$ fb$^{-1}$. Each candidate is fully reconstructed with hadronic decay final states on the signal side, while the rest-of-event technique allows to infer the decay vertex position on the other (tag) side. $B^0$ lifetime is extracted from an unbinned maximum likelihood fit to the distribution of the difference between the signal side $B^0$ candidate and the tag side decay times. The measured lifetime is $\tau_{B^0} = 1.48 \pm 0.28 \pm 0.06 $ ps, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic., Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: We measure the branching fractions for the decays $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} e^{-} \bar{\nu}_e$ and $\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} \mu^{-} \bar{\nu}_\mu$ using $8.70 \pm 0.09~{\rm fb}^{-1}$ of data collected by the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. Candidate signal decays are reconstructed with the subsequent decays $D^{*+}\to D^0 \pi^+$ and $D^0\to K^-\pi^+$. We obtain the results ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} e^{-} \bar{\nu}_e)$ = $(4.55\pm0.14(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.35 (\mathrm{syst})) \%$ and ${\cal B}(\bar{B}^0 \to D^{*+} \mu^{-} \bar{\nu}_\mu)$ = $(4.84\pm 0.13(\mathrm{stat})\pm0.37(\mathrm{syst})) \%$, in agreement with the world averages. The measurements serve to validate the full chain of detector operation and calibration, data collection and processing, and production of physics results in the case of semileptonic $B$-meson decays., Comment: 17 pages, 2 figures, minor correction added

Abstract: We introduce nominal string diagrams as string diagrams internal in the category of nominal sets. This leads us to define nominal PROPs and nominal monoidal theories. We show that the categories of ordinary PROPs and nominal PROPs are equivalent. Abstract: The $\beta$-decay half-lives of 55 neutron-rich nuclei $^{134-139}$Sn, $^{134-142}$Sb, $^{137-144}$Te, $^{140-146}$I, $^{142-148}$Xe, $^{145-151}$Cs, $^{148-153}$Ba, $^{151-155}$La were measured at the Radioactive Isotope Beam Factory (RIBF) employing the projectile fission fragments of $^{238}$U. The nuclear level structure, which relates to deformation, has a large effect on the half-lives. The impact of newly-measured half-lives on modeling the astrophysical origin of the heavy elements is studied in the context of $r$ process nucleosynthesis. For a wide variety of astrophysical conditions, including those in which fission recycling occurs, the half-lives have an important local impact on the second ($A$ $\approx$ 130) peak.

Abstract: This paper describes the track-finding algorithm that is used for event reconstruction in the Belle II experiment operating at the SuperKEKB B-factory in Tsukuba, Japan. The algorithm is designed to balance the requirements of a high efficiency to find charged particles with a good track parameter resolution, a low rate of spurious tracks, and a reasonable demand on CPU resources. The software is implemented in a flexible, modular manner and employs a diverse selection of global and local track-finding algorithms to achieve an optimal performance.
