The possibility of manufacturing high-octane gasolines and winter diesel fuel with a low n-alkane and aromatic hydrocarbon content from high-sulfur petroleum distillates with an endpoint under 350°C in one stage was demonstrated. The octane number of the gasolines is regulated by the mass feedstock space velocity. The design and parameters of the IHEP–JINR neutrino detector, the largest experimental setup at the U-70 accelerator (IHEP, Protvino), is described. The organization of the on-line data-acquisition system and the off-line software is outlined. The main characteristics of the detector are presented. The excitation of a Langmuir plasma wave by a monoenergetic electron beam for which resonant interaction conditions hold is investigated within a hydrodynamic description of the plasma. It is shown that parametric and modulation effects lead to the formation of nonlinear stationary waves with a low-frequency soliton-like envelope in the plasma. The behavior of electrons in the field of the wave packet formed by Langmuir waves with different phase velocities is investigated. A search has been performed for weakly interacting neutral light scalar and pseudoscalar particles in a proton beam dump experiment. No positive signal is observed. Limits on the mass and life-time of these particles are set in the frame of the Standard Model and its minimal supersymmetric extension. The Higgs particle of the SU ×U Standard Theory is excluded for masses in the range 1 MeV< m<80 MeV at 95%CL. Limits on the Peccei-Quinn like axions are derived. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

2,4-D in plants very rapidly undergoes various transformations and its predominant metabolic pathways and rates vary with different plant species. In bean and soybean plants major 2,4-D metabolites are 4- O-Β-D-glucosides of 4-hydroxy-2,5-dichloro- and 4-hydroxy-2,3-dichloro-phenoxy-acetic acids; in addition, considerable amounts of N-(2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetyl)-L-aspartic and N-(2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetyl)-L-glutamic acids are accumulating in them. Among 2,4-D metabolites in cereals there prevailed 1- O-(2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetyl)- Β-D-glucose while the glycoside of 2,4-dichlorophenol prevailed in strawberry plants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The Mo/Al
2 O3 catalysts for propene metathesis were prepared both via anchoring Mo complexes of various nuclearities and by conventional method of impregnation. The catalysts from metal complexes were found to be active in metathesis at ambient temperature after reduction with H2 or CO at 400–500°C. The average oxidation state of Mo in the activated catalysts was determined with regard to oxygen consumption needed for oxidation of the reduced Mo species to Mo6+ .- Published

New catalysts for olefin metathesis are obtained upon interaction between rhenium trisacetylacetonate and ?-Al
2 O3 surface. After high temperature treatment in flows of O2 and N2 and addition of organometallic compound as a cocatalyst the activity of the resulting catalyst exceeds that of known Re/Al2 O3 catalysts prepared by impregnation. The catalysts exhibit maximal activity at a cocatalyst surface concentration of 3 × 10-7 mol/m2 . Further increase of the cocatalyst concentration leads to deactivation.- Published

- Abstract
The results of total cross section measurements for theνμ,interactions with isoscalar target in the 3 – 30 GeV energy range have been presented. The data were obtained with the IHEP-JINR Neutrino Detector in the “natural” neutrino beams of the U-70 accelerator. Neutrino fluxes were obtained by averaging the spectra, based on the calculations with the use of the experimental data on secondary particle yields from the target and muon fluxes measurements in 9 gaps of the muon filter, as well as the spectra determined from quasi-elastic events and spectra defined by extrapolating differential distributiondσ/dyin the regiony=0. The significant deviation from the linear dependence forσtotversus neutrino energy is determined in the energy range less than 15 GeV.

We report cross-section measurements of the final-state muon kinematics for νμ charged-current interactions in the NOvA near detector using an accumulated 8.09×1020 protons on target in the NuMI beam. We present the results as a double-differential cross section in the observed outgoing muon energy and angle, as well as single-differential cross sections in the derived neutrino energy, Eν, and square of the four-momentum transfer, Q2. We compare the results to inclusive cross-section predictions from various neutrino event generators via χ2 calculations using a covariance matrix that accounts for bin-to-bin correlations of systematic uncertainties. These comparisons show a clear discrepancy between the data and each of the tested predictions at forward muon angle and low Q2, indicating a missing suppression of the cross section in current neutrino-nucleus scattering models.

- Abstract
We present the results of a search for vμ → v e oscillations in the NOMAD experiment at CERN. The experiment looked for the appearance of ve in a predominantly vμ wide-band neutrino beam at the CERN SPS. No evidence for oscillations was found. The 90% confidence limits obtained are Δm2 < 0.4 eV 2 for maximal mixing and sin2(2θ) < 1.4 × 10-3 for large Δm2. This result excludes the LSND allowed region of oscillation parameters with Δm2 ≳ 10 eV2. © 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Measuring observables to constrain models using maximum-likelihood estimation is fundamental to many physics experiments. The Profiled Feldman-Cousins method described here is a potential solution to common challenges faced in constructing accurate confidence intervals: small datasets, bounded parameters, and the need to properly handle nuisance parameters. This method achieves more accurate frequentist coverage than other methods in use, and is generally applicable to the problem of parameter estimation in neutrino oscillations and similar measurements. We present a measurement of the polarization of $\alam$ hyperons produced in $\nu_\mu$ charged current interactions. The full data sample from the NOMAD experiment has been analyzed using the same $\vo$ identification procedure and analysis method reported in a previous paper~\cite{NOMAD-polar} for the case of $\lam$ hyperons. The $\alam$ polarization has been measured for the first time in a neutrino experiment. The polarization vector is found to be compatible with zero.

The cross section of neutrino-induced neutral-current coherent π0 production on a carbon-dominated target is measured in the NOvA near detector. This measurement uses a narrow-band neutrino beam with an average neutrino energy of 2.7 GeV, which is of interest to ongoing and future long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments. The measured, flux-averaged cross section is σ=13.8±0.9(stat)±2.3(syst)×10−40 cm2/nucleus, consistent with model prediction. This result is the most precise measurement of neutral-current coherent π0 production in the few-GeV neutrino energy region.

Results from the $\nu_{\tau}$ appearance search in a neutrino beam using the full NOMAD data sample are reported. A new analysis unifies all the hadronic $\tau$ decays, significantly improving the overall sensitivity of the experiment to oscillations. The ``blind analysis" of all topologies yields no evidence for an oscillation signal. In the two-family oscillation scenario, this sets a 90\% C.L. allowed region in the $\sin^22\theta_{\mu\tau} - \Delta m^2$ plane which includes $\sin^22\theta_{\mu\tau}\ \ 3.3\times10^{-4}$ at large $\Delta m^2$ and $\Delta m^2 0.7$ eV$^2$/$c^4$ at $\sin^22\theta_{\mu \tau}=1$. The corresponding contour in the $\nuenutau$ oscillation hypothesis results in $\sin^22\theta_{e\tau}\ \ 1.5\times10^{-2}$ at large $\Delta m^2$ and $\Delta m^2 5.9$ eV$^2$/$c^4$ at $\sin^22\theta_{e \tau}=1$.
