Genomic profiling revealed the identity of at least 5 subtypes of DLBCL, including the MCD/C5 cluster characterized by aberrations in MYD88, BCL2, PRDM1 and/or SPIB. We generated mouse models harboring B cell-specific Prdm1 or Spib aberrations on the background of oncogenic Myd88 and Bcl2 lesions. We deployed whole exome sequencing, transcriptome, flow- and mass cytometry analyses to demonstrate that Prdm1- or Spib-altered lymphomas display molecular features consistent with pre-memory B cells and light zone B cells, whereas lymphomas lacking these alterations were enriched for late light-zone and plasmablast-associated gene sets. Consistent with the phenotypic evidence for increased B cell receptor signaling activity in Prdm1-altered lymphomas, we demonstrate that combined BTK/BCL2 inhibition displays therapeutic activity in mice and in five out of six relapsed/refractory DLBCL patients. Moreover, Prdm1-altered lymphomas were immunogenic upon transplantation into immuno-competent hosts, displayed an actionable PD-L1 surface expression and were sensitive to anti-murine-CD19-CAR-T cell therapy, in vivo.

A complete tunability electromagnetic simulation model for the Ba$_{0.6}$Sr$_{0.4}$TiO$_3$ (BST), with 𝜀𝑟 ≈ 2000, and Mg$_2$B$_2$O$_6$ (MBO), with 𝜀𝑟 ≈ 7, composites is proposed here. The model is based on electrostatics, to simulate the effects of bias fields distribution in the composite varactor at the unbiased state to create the biased state for all volumetric mixture compositions. A bulk-ceramic varactor approach is chosen for the fabricated varactors. Varactors are fabricated with different volume compositions of BST and MBO, ranging from 10 to 100 vol-% of BST. Simulated results of the varactor model are then verified with the measured results of the varactor. The simulated and measured tunability shows considerable discrepancy at room temperature, which leads to Curie temperature 𝑇$_𝐶$ investigation of the fabricated varactors. It has been observed that a shift in 𝑇$_𝐶$ is directly proportional to the discrepancies in the simulated and measured tunability. After incorporating the 𝑇$_𝐶$ shifts in the model, the results show close proximity between measured and 𝑇$_𝐶$ -shifted simulated tunabilities with differences being reduced from around 32% to 2% for 80 vol-% BST varactor.

There is increasing evidence that honeybees (Apis mellifera L.) can adapt naturally to survive Varroa destructor, the primary cause of colony mortality world-wide. Most of the adaptive traits of naturally varroa-surviving honeybees concern varroa reproduction. Here we investigate whether factors in the honeybee metagenome also contribute to this survival. The quantitative and qualitative composition of the bacterial and viral metagenome fluctuated greatly during the active season, but with little overall difference between varroa-surviving and varroa-susceptible colonies. The main exceptions were Bartonella apis and sacbrood virus, particularly during early spring and autumn. Bombella apis was also strongly associated with early and late season, though equally for all colonies. All three affect colony protein management and metabolism. Lake Sinai virus was more abundant in varroa-surviving colonies during the summer. Lake Sinai virus and deformed wing virus also showed a tendency towards seasonal genetic change, but without any distinction between varroa-surviving and varroa-susceptible colonies. Whether the changes in these taxa contribute to survival or reflect demographic differences between the colonies (or both) remains unclear.

The composite system Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3/Mg3B2O6 (BST/MBO) was investigated in regard to the influence of sintering temperature and composition on the dielectric properties. Dilatometry measurements were carried out at up to 1200 °C. At 1050 °C, all composites with an MBO content of 22.0 vol% or more showed densities over 90 % of the theoretical value. An in-situ XRD study was conducted at up to 1200 °C. The formation of Mg2TiO4 was detected starting at 1120 °C. These data sets were used to make a set of compositions ranging from 17.8–79.7 vol% MBO. At 1050 °C, the element distribution at the BST/MBO interfaces was investigated via EDX and ToF-SIMS. It was observed that titanium migrates from the BST into the MBO, mostly in the interface region. The microstructure of the different compositions was determined via SEM and image analysis. Traces of a third phase were found even for samples sintered at 1050 °C. The dielectric properties of the samples were measured at 13.56 MHz and compared to the expected behavior from the literature. It was found that compositions in the middle of the spectrum showed reduced permittivity, loss, and tunability, resulting in an overall increase in the material quality factor when compared to the chosen model. This was attributed to the passivation of the BST at the interfaces.

In the field of printed electronics, electronic components such as varactors are of special interest. As ferroelectric materials, Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 (BST) and poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE)) are promising compounds to be used in functional inks for the fabrication of fully inkjet-printed dielectric layers. In BST/P(VDF-TrFE) composite inks, the influence of the particle and crystallite size is investigated by using different grinding media sizes and thermal treatments at varying temperatures. It was found that with an increasing particle and crystallite size, both the relative permittivity and tunability increase as well. However, the thermal treatment which impacts both the particle and crystallite size has a greater effect on the dielectric properties. An additional approach is the reduction in the dielectric layer thickness, which has a significant effect on the maximal tunability. Here, with a thickness of 0.9 µm, a tunability of 29.6% could be achieved in an external electric field of 34 V µm−1.

We introduce a new seismic event detector that applies signal analysis in the frequency domain while searching matches coincidences at neighbouring recording stations. Unlike for the template matching based methods and the supervised and some unsupervised machine learning based methods, no a priori waveform information is needed for our Adaptive 6-Dimensional Floating-search Multi-station Seismic-event Detector (A6-DFMSD). Recording of transient absorption microscopy images requires fast detection of minute optical density changes, which is typically achieved with high-repetition-rate laser sources and lock-in detection. Here, we present a highly flexible and cost-efficient detection scheme based on a conventional photodiode and an USB oscilloscope with MHz bandwidth, that deviates from the commonly used lock-in setup and achieves benchmark sensitivity. Our scheme combines shot-to-shot evaluation of pump–probe and probe–only measurements, a home-built photodetector circuit optimized for low pulse energies applying low-pass amplification, and a custom evaluation algorithm based on Fourier transformation. Advantages of this approach include abilities to simultaneously monitor multiple pulse modulation frequencies, implement the detection of additional pulse sequences (e.g., pump–only), and expand to multiple parallel detection channels for wavelength-dispersive probing. With a 40 kHz repetition-rate laser system powering two non-collinear optical parametric amplifiers for wide tuneability, we find that laser pulse fluctuations limit the sensitivity of the setup, while the detection scheme has negligible contribution. We demonstrate the 2-D imaging performance of our transient absorption microscope with studies on micro-crystalline molecular thin films.

Sodium-ion batteries (SIB) are considered as a promising alternative to overcome existing sustainability challenges related to Lithium-ion batteries (LIB), such as the use of critical and expensive materials with high environmental impacts. In contrast to established LIBs, SIBs are an emerging technology in an early stage of development where a challenge is to identify the most promising and sustainable cathode active materials (CAM) for further research and potential commercialization. Thus, a comprehensive and flexible CAM screening method is developed, providing a fast and comprehensive overview of potential sustainability hotspots for supporting cathode material selection. 42 different SIB cathodes are screened and benchmarked against eight state-of-the-art LIB-cathodes. Potential impacts are quantified for the following categories: i) Cost as ten-year average; ii) Criticality, based on existing raw material criticality indicators, and iii) the life cycle carbon footprint. The results reveal that energy density is one of the most important factors in all three categories, determining the overall material demand. Most SIB CAM shows a very promising performance, obtaining better results than the LIB benchmark. Especially the Prussian Blue derivatives and the manganese-based layered oxides seem to be interesting candidates under the given prospective screening framework.

We demonstrate that the photoconductance of colloidal PbS/MAPbI3 quantum dots in nanoscale gold electrode gaps shows a consistent power law dependence of the photocurrent on the light intensity with an exponent slightly below 0.7. The gap sizes are between 25 and 800 nm and by scanning photocurrent microscopy we evidence the strong localization and high reproducibility of photocurrent generation. We probe different flat-faced and pointed electrodes for excitation light in the red and near infrared spectral range and laser irradiances from 10(−2) to 10(2) W cm(−2).
