This paper is a critical response to the article by professors P.A. Orekhovsky and V.I. Razumov “The Onset of Narcissistic Culture: Consequences for Education, Science and Politics”. The idea of treating Western post-war culture as narcissistic has been expressed in the United States since the 1970s of the XX century, but it will also be relevant in relation to the post-Soviet culture of Russia. Considering the ambiguity of the cognitive metaphor of Narcissus in relation to the described socio-cultural transformations caused by the possibility of an almost arbitrary interpretation of something as narcissism, the article presents its own interpretation of the foundations of narcissistic culture. Following the idea of opposing a narcissistic culture to a culture of service, modern narcissism is viewed not so much as an individual’s selfishness, but as a loss of an object and opportunity for service. Secularism, understood in the spirit of Charles Taylor as the loss of any higher, transcendent, hierarchical ontological concepts, deprives a person of a higher authority that legitimizes any service to something. This means a horizontal ontology of equivalent objects that do not have the highest value in relation to the individual. Post-traditionalism means impermanence, “fluidity” of any institutionalized forms of sociality and their perception, the dynamics of the emergence and decline of which does not allow the individual to find an object of service. A person remains in conditions of “minimal humanism”, which means that this person, having neither a higher reality that determines it, nor the constancy of social institutions, remains for himself the only possible value, a kind of “narcissist against his will”. We also believe that narcissism is not an external, but an internal factor of social processes that constitutes the motives and interests of the participants in these processes. While agreeing with the thesis about the connection between narcissistic culture and postmodernity, we believe that it is not a “young culture” opposite to mass society. On the contrary, narcissistic culture is the culture of a mass society that has gone further along the path of secularism, post-traditionalism and humanism, just as postmodernity is called late, far-reaching modernity by such sociologists as E. Giddens, U. Beck, Ju. Habermas.

У статті розглядається окремий напрям модернізації законодавства про вищу освіту шляхом ім-плементації в чинне законодавства України поняття місцевого замовлення у сфері вищої освіти (місце-вого освітнього замовлення) поряд із державним та/або регіональним замовленням як засобу подолання кадрового дефіциту в місцевих громадах, які зазнають на себе негативні економічні наслідки депресив-ності територій та воєнних дій (окупації, деокупації). У зв’язку з цим пропонується три етапи законо-проєктної роботи з метою побудови гармонійної та взаємопов’язаної системи норм щодо державного, регіонального та місцевого замовлення у сфері вищої освіти. We consider a model of a random media with fixed and finite memory time with abrupt losses of memory (renovation model). Within the memory intervals we can observe either amplification or oscillation of the vector field in a given particle. The cumulative effect of amplifications in many subsequent intervals leads to amplification of the mean field and mean energy. Similarly, the cumulative effect of intermittent amplifications or oscillations also leads to amplification of the mean field and mean energy, however, at a lower rate. Finally, the random oscillations alone can resonate and yield the growth of the mean field and energy. These are the three mechanisms that we investigate and compute analytically and numerically the growth rates based on the Jacobi equation with the random curvature parameter.

Purpose: Most studies characterizing antitumor properties of invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells have used the agonist, α-galactosylceramide (α-GalCer). However, α-GalCer induces strong, long-lasting anergy of iNKT cells, which could be a major detriment for clinical therapy. A novel iNKT cell agonist, β-mannosylceramide (β-ManCer), induces strong antitumor immunity through a mechanism distinct from that of α-GalCer. The objective of this study was to determine whether β-ManCer induces anergy of iNKT cells.Experimental Design: Induction of anergy was determined by ex vivo analysis of splenocytes from mice pretreated with iNKT cell agonists as well as in the CT26 lung metastasis in vivo tumor model.Results: β-ManCer activated iNKT cells without inducing long-term anergy. The transience of anergy induction correlated with a shortened duration of PD-1 upregulation on iNKT cells activated with β-ManCer, compared with α-GalCer. Moreover, whereas mice pretreated with α-GalCer were unable to respond to a second glycolipid stimulation to induce tumor protection for up to 2 months, mice pretreated with β-ManCer were protected from tumors by a second stimulation equivalently to vehicle-treated mice.Conclusions: The lack of long-term functional anergy induced by β-ManCer, which allows for a second dose to still give therapeutic benefit, suggests the strong potential for this iNKT cell agonist to succeed in settings where α-GalCer has failed. Solar Energetic Particle (SEP) events and their major subclass, Solar Proton Events (SPEs), can result in unfavorable consequences to numerous aspects of life and technology, making them one of the most prevalent and harmful effects of solar activity. Garnering knowledge leading up to such events by studying proton and soft X-ray (SXR) flux data to alleviate the burdens they cause is therefore critical for their forecasting. Our previous SEP prediction study, Sadykov et al. 2021 indicated that it may be sufficient to utilize only proton and SXR parameters for SPE forecasts considering a limited data set from Solar Cycle (SC) 24. In this work we report the completion of a catalog of $\geq$ 10 MeV $\geq$10 particle flux unit (pfu) SPEs observed by Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) detectors operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), with records of their properties spanning through SCs 22-24. We report an additional catalog of daily proton and SXR flux statistics. We use these catalogs to test the application of machine learning (ML) for the prediction of SPEs using a Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm. We explore how previous SCs can train and test on each other using both earlier and longer data sets during the training phase, evaluating how transferable an algorithm is across different time periods. Validation against the effects of cross-cycle transferability is an understudied area in SEP research, but should be considered for verifying the cross-cycle robustness of an ML-driven forecast.
