Abstract

BACKGROUND: In the TWILIGHT trial, ticagrelor monotherapy after a short course of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) was shown to be a safe bleeding avoidance strategy in high-risk patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents (DES). AIMS: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of ticagrelor monotherapy after three-month DAPT in patients undergoing PCI, according to DES type. METHODS: In the current sub-analysis from TWILIGHT, patients were stratified into three groups based on DES type: durable polymer everolimus-eluting stents (DP-EES), durable polymer zotarolimus-eluting stents (DP-ZES), and biodegradable polymer DES (BP-DES). Bleeding and ischaemic outcomes were assessed at one year after randomisation. RESULTS: Out of 5,769 patients, 3,014 (52.2%) had DP-EES, 1,350 (23.4%) had DP-ZES and 1,405 (24.4%) had BP-DES. Compared with ticagrelor plus aspirin, ticagrelor monotherapy had significantly lower BARC type 2, 3 or 5 bleeding compared with DAPT; DP-EES (3.8% vs 6.7%; HR 0.56, 95% CI: 0.41-0.78), DP-ZES (4.6% vs 6.9%; HR 0.66, 95% CI: 0.42-1.04) and BP-DES (4.2% vs 7.9%; HR 0.52, 95% CI: 0.33-0.81; p(interaction)=0.76). Ticagrelor monotherapy resulted in similar rates of death, MI, or stroke: DP-EES (4.2% vs 4.3%; HR 0.97; 95% CI: 0.68-1.37); DP-ZES (4.1% vs 3.1%; HR 1.32; 95% CI: 0.75-2.33); BP-DES (3.9% vs 4.2%; HR 0.92; 95% CI: 0.54-1.55; p(interaction)=0.60). In both unadjusted and covariate-adjusted analyses, DES type was not associated with any differences in ischaemic or bleeding complications. CONCLUSIONS: As compared with ticagrelor plus aspirin, ticagrelor monotherapy after a short DAPT duration lowered bleeding complications without increasing the ischaemic risk, irrespective of DES type. We observed no significant differences among DES types.

Abstract

ObjectiveWe investigated the effects of COVID-19 fear on negative moods among college students, and assessed the efficacy of physical exercise behavior as a moderator variable.MethodsThis was a cross-sectional study. Students from three colleges and universities in Shangqiu City, Henan Province and Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province were enrolled in this study, which was performed during the COVID-19 pandemic using an online questionnaire. A total of 3,133 college students completed the questionnaire. Measurement tools included the COVID-19 Phobia Scale (C19P-S), Depression-Anxiety-Stress Self-Rating Scale (DASS), and the Physical Activity Behavior Scale (PARS-3).ResultsDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, the rates of depression, anxiety, and stressful negative moods among college students were 35.5, 65.5, and 10.95%, respectively; there was a positive correlation between COVID-19 fear and negative moods among college students (r = 0.479, p < 0.001), which was negatively correlated with physical exercise behavior (r = −0.4, p < 0.001); the regulating effects of physical exercise behavior were significant (ΔR2 = 0.04, p < 0.001).ConclusionThe rate of negative moods among college students is high, and the fear for COVID-19 is one of the key factors that lead to negative moods. Physical exercise can modulate the impact of COVID-19 fear among college students on negative moods. Studies should elucidate on mental health issues among different populations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Research on spatio-temporal evolution characteristics of water consumption and water utilization structure is significant to integrated management and optimal allocation of water resources. Based on the water consumption data from 1980 to 2019, the spatio-temporal evolution characteristics of water consumption and water utilization structure in Pearl River District were studied by introducing the information entropy and gravity center models. The results show that the water consumption in the Pearl River District increases first and then decreases slightly. The gravity center of water consumption moves first to the east and then to the west. The agricultural water consumption is greatly reduced, and the gravity center moves to the west. Water consumption of other parts increases overall, and the gravity centers move to the east. These variations are consistent with the economic and social development in the Pearl River District. The variations of water utilization structure in the Pearl River District can be divided into two stages, before 2010 and after 2010. In the first stage, the information entropy and equilibrium of water utilization structure increase significantly. The information entropy gravity center of the water utilization structure moves eastward gradually. The variation of water utilization structure in the eastern region is greater than that in the western region. In the second stage, the information entropy and equilibrium of the water utilization structure tend to be stable. The information entropy gravity center of the water utilization structure moves to the west slightly. The water utilization structure is stable. The change in water utilization structure in the western region is larger than that in the eastern region. In terms of population, GDP, industrial added value, and actual irrigated area of farmland, population and actual irrigated area of farmland are the main driving factors for water consumption and water utilization structure changes. The results are helpful to overall understand the variations of water consumption and water utilization structure in the Pearl River District in the past 40 years, which can provide technological support for integrated management and optimal allocation of water resources.
