The dynamic and static properties of structured surfaces have important functions in nature. In particular, wrinkles have important static roles, for example, increasing surface area, but dynamic roles of wrinkles remain poorly understood. Specifically, to understand and utilize the dynamic functions of wrinkles, it is necessary to observe wrinkle formation directly. In this study, a polyion complex (PIC) is formed on a hydrogel surface by electrophoresis, and the process of wrinkle formation through a transparent electrode is directly observed. By quantitative analysis of the wavelength and amplitude of wrinkles, it is found that the wrinkles move randomly in a wavy pattern in the initial stage of growing process. Furthermore, the direction of wavy motion of wrinkles is controlled by the compression of hydrogels in the in-plane direction. The powder X-ray diffraction pattern of the BiS2-based compound Eu3Bi2S4F4, acquired under high pressure, reveals a structural phase transition at 3.55 GPa. Reportedly, Eu3Bi2S4F4 exhibits a metal-semiconductor transition and bulk superconductivity at pressures close to 4 GPa. These transitions are induced by structural phase transition. Organic semiconductors (OSCs), especially small molecule semiconductors, have received increasing attention due to their good designability and variability. Phase transitions and interfacial properties have a decisive influence on device performance. Here, 2-Dodecyl-7-phenyl[1]benzothieno[3,2-b][1]benzothiophene (Ph-BTBT-12) devices are treated with low-power laser annealing, which is able to avoid the influence of the dewetting effect on the hole mobility of organic semiconductor materials. Ultraviolet ozone treatment and self-assembled monolayer treatment can improve the performance and stability of the device. Moreover, after low-temperature thermal annealing, the hole mobility of the device can even reach as high as 4.80 cm2 V−1 s−1, and we tested the optical response of the device to the ultraviolet wavelength and found that its maximum optical responsivity was 8.2 AW−1. Background: Drug-induced interstitial lung disease (DIILD) is a severe adverse event leading to morbidity and mortality. This study evaluated the adverse event indicators of DIILD and time-to-onset profiles following the daily intake of herbal drugs (Scutellariae radix ["ogon" in Japanese], Bupleuri radix ["saiko" in Japanese], and Pinelliae tuber ["hange" in Japanese]) using the Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report database. DIILD was defined in accordance with the Medical Dictionary for Regulatory Activities. Methods: The Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report database contained 830,079 reports published between April 2004 and April 2023. The association between herbal medicines and DILLD was evaluated using the pharmacovigilance index as the reporting odds ratio (ROR), logistic regression models, propensity score-matching techniques, and Weibull shape parameters. Results: The adjusted RORs using multivariate logistic regression models for Scutellariae radix (daily intake), Pinelliae tuber (daily intake), sex (male), age (≥ 60 years), Scutellariae radix (daily intake)*age (≥ 60 years), and Scutellariae radix (daily intake)* Pinelliae tuber (daily intake) were 1.47 (1.36 − 1.59), 1.05 (1.01 − 1.10), 1.45 (1.34 − 1.57), 1.92 (1.74 − 2.11), 3.35 (3.12 − 3.60), and 1.49 (1.46 − 1.53), respectively. DIILD onset profiles were evaluated using the Weibull shape parameter. A logistic plot of daily intake and onset of DIILD was drawn. ROR signals were detected in 32 of 54 herbal medicines, including Scutellariae radix, Bupleuri radix, and Pinelliae tuber. The median duration (days) (interquartile range) to DIILD onset was 36.0 (27.0–63.0) for Saikokaryukotsuboreito, 35.0 (21.0–55.0) for Saireito, and 31.0 (13.5–67.5) for Shosaikoto. The Weibull shape parameter beta (95% confidence interval) values for Saikokaryukotsuboreito, Saireito, and Shosaikoto were 1.36 (1.08–1.67), 1.36 (1.20–1.52), and 1.31 (0.98–1.68), respectively. Conclusions: DIILD demonstrated a dose-dependent to crude drugs. Clinicians should strive for the early detection of DIILD and avoid the inadvertent administration of herbal medicines. Objective: In patients with stable hemodynamic status after an acute coronary syndrome (ACS), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) after preoperative investigations can provide outcomes comparable to those of emergency surgery. However, no established guidelines exist regarding the preparation period before surgery. We report the results of the use of an inpatient cardiac rehabilitation program followed by CABG after an ACS to improve post-operative outcomes and prognosis after discharge. Methods: From 2005 to 2017, 471 patients underwent either isolated or combined CABG at our institution, and of those, the 393 who received isolated CABG were included in the analysis. Twenty-seven patients (6.9%) were admitted with ACS and underwent preoperative rehabilitation before undergoing CABG, with a subsequent review of surgical morbidity and mortality rates. Propensity score matching yielded a cohort of 26 patients who underwent preoperative rehabilitation (group A) and 26 controls (group B). Preoperative characteristics were similar between groups. Results: The completion rate of the rehabilitation program was 96.3%. All programs were conducted with inpatients, with an average length of stay of 23 ± 12 days. All patients completed in-bed exercises, and 85% completed out-of-bed exercises. The 30-day postoperative mortality was 0% in both groups A and B, and the rate of postoperative major adverse cardiac or cerebrovascular events at 12 months did not differ significantly between groups (7.7% vs 3.9%, respectively; p = 1.0). The duration of mechanical ventilation (1.3 ± 0.3 vs 1.5 ± 0.3 days, respectively; p = 0.633), length of intensive care unit stay (4.4 ± 2.1 vs 4.8 ± 2.3 days, respectively; p = 0.584) and length of hospital stay (25 ± 13 vs 22 ± 9 days, respectively; p = 0.378) did not differ significantly between groups. Conclusions: No complications of preoperative rehabilitation were observed, suggesting that it is an acceptable option for patients who experience ACS and undergo CABG. Simple Summary: Interleukin-1 converting enzyme/caspase-1 is a proinflammatory caspase that have been implicated in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disorders, including heart failure and cardiac ischemia. In contrast, the role of the complete deletion of caspase-1 in the aging heart has not been fully studied. In this study, we aimed to understand how a lack of caspase-1 would impact the hypertrophic and apoptotic response in the mouse heart. We analyzed the hearts of ICE knockout mice to test the hypothesis that caspase-1 plays a significant role in cardiac morphology and function. Our study provides evidence that caspase-1 is an essential element in maintaining cardiac heath in aging and eliminating it will lead to hypertrophy, apoptosis, and increased vulnerability to oxidative stress. Interleukin-1β converting enzyme (ICE, caspase-1) is a thiol protease that cleaves the pro-inflammatory cytokine precursors of IL-1β and IL-18 into active forms. Given the association between caspase-1 and cardiovascular pathology, we analyzed the hearts of ICE knockout (ICE KO) mice to test the hypothesis that caspase-1 plays a significant role in cardiac morphology and function. We characterized the histological and functional changes in the hearts of ICE KO mice compared to the Wild type. The cardiomyocytes from the neonatal ICE KO mice showed an impaired response to oxidative stress. Subsequently, the hearts from the ICE KO mice were hypertrophied, with a significant increase in the left ventricular and septal wall thickness and a greater LV mass/body weight ratio. The ICE KO mice hearts exhibited irregular myofibril arrangements and disruption of the cristae in the mitochondrial structure. Proapoptotic proteins that were significantly increased in the hearts of ICE KO versus the Wild type included pErk, pJNK, p53, Fas, Bax, and caspase 3. Further, the antiapoptotic proteins Bag-1 and Bcl-2 are activated in ICE KO hearts. Functionally, there was an increase in the left ventricular epicardial diameter and volume in ICE KO. In conclusion, our findings support the important role of caspase-1 in maintaining cardiac health; specifically, a significant decrease in caspase-1 is detrimental to the cardiovascular system. Neuro-inflammation involves distinct alterations of microglial phenotypes, containing nocuous pro-inflammatory M1-phenotype and neuroprotective anti-inflammatory M-phenotype. Currently, there is no effective treatment for modulating such alterations. M1/M2 marker of primary microglia influenced by Melatonin were detected via qPCR. Functional activities were explored by western blotting, luciferase activity, EMSA, and ChIP assay. Structure interaction was assessed by molecular docking and LIGPLOT analysis. ER-stress detection was examined by ultrastructure TEM, calapin activity, and ERSE assay. The functional neurobehavioral evaluations were used for investigation of Melatonin on the neuroinflammation in vivo. Melatonin had targeted on Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor Delta (PPARδ) activity, boosted LPS-stimulated alterations in polarization from the M1 to the M2 phenotype, and thereby inhibited NFκB–IKKβ activation in primary microglia. The PPARδ agonist L-165,041 or over-expression of PPARδ plasmid (ov-PPARδ) showed similar results. Molecular docking screening, dynamic simulation approaches, and biological studies of Melatonin showed that the activated site was located at PPARδ (phospho-Thr256-PPARδ). Activated microglia had lowered PPARδ activity as well as the downstream SIRT1 formation via enhancing ER-stress. Melatonin, PPARδ agonist and ov-PPARδ all effectively reversed the above-mentioned effects. Melatonin blocked ER-stress by regulating calapin activity and expression in LPS-activated microglia. Additionally, Melatonin or L-165,041 ameliorated the neurobehavioral deficits in LPS-aggravated neuroinflammatory mice through blocking microglia activities, and also promoted phenotype changes to M2-predominant microglia. Melatonin suppressed neuro-inflammation in vitro and in vivo by tuning microglial activation through the ER-stress-dependent PPARδ/SIRT1 signaling cascade. This treatment strategy is an encouraging pharmacological approach for the remedy of neuro-inflammation associated disorders. This study was conducted in Baghdad, Iraq from December 2021 to May 2022. The goal was to determine the effect of Toxoplasma gondii on liver function by examining the relationship between Toxoplasma infection and hormones. One hundred and twenty male patients with Chronic liver disease (CLD) (age:14-75 years) and 120 control males (age: 24-70 years) participated in this study. Serum samples were taken from all individuals and were then analysed for anti-Toxoplasma antibodies. Hormonal tests were conducted for all participants which included (Cortisol, testosterone, prolactin, insulin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone TSH). Biochemical tests included (Prothrombin time PT, international normalized ratio INR and albumin); liver enzymes evaluated were (aspartate aminotransferase AST, alanine aminotransferase ALT, alkaline phosphatase ALP and gamma-glutamyl transferase GGT) and interleukins (Interleukin 13 IL-13 and transforming growth factor TGF). According to the anti-Toxoplasma antibodies results, 32 (26% of the control group) of the participants tested positive for anti-Toxoplasma antibodies, compared to 60 (50%) of the CLD patients. Four sub-groups were formed in response to prior results: Control-Toxoplasma positive, control-Toxoplasma negative, CLD-Toxoplasma positive and CLDToxoplasma negative. The seropositive status of T. gondii did not affect the following hormones: cortisol, testosterone, insulin and TSH while it was related significantly to prolactin. The results of liver enzymes showed that T. gondii positive status was significantly related to all enzymes among CLD patients except the GGT enzyme T. gondii positive status was not correlated with the other biochemical (PT, INR, and albumin) and immunological parameters (IL-13 and TGF). Deficiency of Adenosine deaminase 2 (DADA2) is a monogenic autoinflammatory disease caused by homozygous or compound heterozygous mutations in the ADA2 gene (formerly CECR1 Cat Eye Syndrome Chromosome Region 1). Clinical manifestations of DADA2 are highly variable and include systemic inflammation with fever, early stroke, vasculopathy, immune dysregulation (hypogammaglobulinemia, lymphoproliferation, increased rate of infections), and hematologic abnormalities (pure red cell aplasia, bone marrow failure, cytopenias). The most promising treatments are anti-TNF inhibitors, the only drugs that can prevent the serious consequences of the disease. Early diagnosis is therefore critical. DADA2 can be diagnosed by genetic analysis or functional tests (biochemical diagnosis) that allow the enzyme activity to be assayed. At the Giannina Gaslini Institute, a children's hospital in Italy, a method based on liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry has been developed to measure enzyme activity. Key Clinical Message: The presence of multiple pseudoaneurysms in a patient should prompt investigations for the underlying etiologies including autoimmune and immunosuppressive disease processes. Treatment options include open repair and endovascular stenting. Pseudoaneurysms (also known as false aneurysms) are atypical dilatations or outpouchings from a vessel which are not always contained by the three layers of a normal vessel wall, namely the intima, media, and adventitia. These are distinct from a true aneurysm which has a wall comprising all three layers. The underlying etiology for both true aneurysms and pseudoaneurysm can vary. We present the rare case of bilateral superficial femoral artery pseudoaneurysms, of unknown etiology and a concurrent posterior tibial artery saccular aneurysm in a patient with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection and multiple comorbidities. This was managed using a combination of endovascular covered stent grafts and open surgical repair technique. The patient is doing well on follow‐up a year later with no post‐operative infections. Background This study aimed to evaluate the effect of chitin nanofibers (CNF) produced from crab shells as a medical material for the knee in an osteoarthritic rat model. Methods The effect of intra-articular CNF injection was evaluated histologically among three groups: saline, hyaluronic acid (HA), and CNF injection groups. The Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) cartilage, subchondral bone, synovial, and meniscus scores were used for scoring. Results At 4 weeks, the CNF group had significantly lower scores than the saline group. The Synovial score was lower in HA and CNF groups at 4 weeks than in the saline group. At 4 weeks post-treatment, the thickening of the subchondral bone plate and angiogenesis were significantly reduced in the CNF treatment group compared to those in the saline treatment group (P = 0.02). In Japan, the aging of the population is rapidly accelerating, with an increase in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and those undergoing dialysis. As a result, the number of individuals with cognitive impairment (CI) is rising, and addressing this issue has become an urgent problem. A notable feature of dementia in CKD patients is the high frequency of vascular dementia, making its prevention through the management of classical risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, smoking, etc., associated with atherosclerosis and arteriosclerosis. Other effective measures, including the use of renin–angiotensin system inhibitors, addressing anemia, exercise therapy, and lifestyle improvements, have been reported. The incidence and progression of CI may also be influenced by the type of kidney replacement therapy, with reports suggesting that long-duration dialysis, low-temperature hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation can have a preferable effect on the preservation of cognitive function. In conclusion, patients with CKD are at a higher risk of developing CI, with brain atrophy being a contributing factor. Despite the identification of various preventive measures, the evidence substantiating their efficacy remains limited across all studies. Background: Diagnosing ovarian tumors in dogs can be challenging since the clinical symptoms are often generic. The present case report underscores a rare case in which a suspected unilateral ovarian tumor in a dog was initially identified using ultrasonography and subsequently confirmed to be a luteoma through postoperative histopathology. Case Description: An 8-year and 6-month-old female Maltese dog presented with a 10-day history of vulvovaginal bleeding, hematuria, and decreased appetite. Physical examination revealed only vaginal bleeding, with no other abnormalities. Laboratory examinations showed no abnormalities, while abdominal radiography revealed the presence of cystic calculi as the sole abnormality. Abdominal ultrasound revealed an enlarged right ovary with regular contour and echogenicity, featuring unusual cystic components surrounding the right ovarian parenchyma. Furthermore, irregular thickening with multiple cystic lesions was observed in the endometrial wall of the bilateral uterine horns, indicative of cystic endometrial hyperplasia. Ultrasonographic findings suggested unilateral right ovarian disease. During ovariohysterectomy, the right ovary was slightly larger than the left ovary and adhered to the surrounding mesenteric fat layer and right pancreatic parenchyma. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of luteoma in the right ovary. Three days after surgery, the patient's clinical signs exhibited complete improvement, with the return of normal appetite. Conclusion: This case report highlights a rare diagnosis of unilateral ovarian luteoma based on mild ultrasonographic abnormalities, which was ultimately confirmed on histopathological examination. Despite significant advancements in medical technology, cancer remains the world's second‐leading cause of death, largely attributed to late‐stage diagnoses. While traditional cancer detection methodologies offer foundational insights, they often lack the specificity, affordability, and sensitivity for early‐stage identification. In this context, the development of biosensors offers a distinct possibility for the precise and rapid identification of cancer biomarkers. Carbon nanomaterials, including graphene, carbon nitride, carbon quantum dots, and other carbon‐based nanostructures, are highly promising for cancer detection. Their simplicity, high sensitivity, and cost‐effectiveness contribute to their potential in this field. This review aims to elucidate the potential of emerging carbon‐nanomaterial‐based biosensors for early cancer diagnosis. The relevance of the various biosensor mechanisms and their performance to the physicochemical properties of carbon nanomaterials is discussed in depth, focusing on demonstrating broad methodologies for creating performance biosensors. Diverse carbon‐nanomaterial‐based detection techniques, such as electrochemical, fluorescence, surface plasmon resonance, electrochemiluminescence, and quartz crystal microbalance, are emphasized for early cancer detection. The objective of this study was to determine the optimal extraction conditions for total flavonoids from S. bigelovii using microwave-assisted extraction and to analyze the protective effect of total flavonoids from S. bigelovii on alcoholic liver injury in mice. The optimization of the process conditions for the microwave-assisted extraction of total flavonoids from S. bigelovii was performed using response surface methodology, and an alcohol-induced acute liver injury model in mice was used to investigate the effects of different doses of total flavonoids (100 mg/kg, 200 mg/kg, and 400 mg/kg) on the levels and activities of serum alanine aminotransferase kits (ALT), glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase kits (AST), superoxide dismutase kits (SOD), glutathione peroxidase kits (GSH-Px), and malondialdehyde (MDA). We performed hematoxylin–eosin (H&E) staining analysis on pathological sections of mouse liver tissue, and qRT-PCR technology was used to detect the expression levels of the inflammatory factors IL-1 β, IL-6, and TNF-α. The results revealed that the optimal extraction process conditions for total flavonoids in S. bigelovii were a material-to-liquid ratio of 1:30 (g/mL), an ethanol concentration of 60%, an extraction temperature of 50 °C, an ultrasound power of 250 W, and a yield of 5.71 ± 0.28 mg/g. Previous studies have demonstrated that the flavonoids of S. bigelovii can significantly inhibit the levels of ALT and AST in the serum (p < 0.001), reduce MDA levels (p < 0.001), increase the activity of the antioxidant enzymes SOD and GSH-Px (p < 0.001), and inhibit the IL-1 β, IL-6, and TNF-α gene expression levels (p < 0.001) of inflammatory factors. The total flavonoids of S. bigelovii exert a protective effect against alcoholic liver injury by reducing the levels of inflammation, oxidative stress, and lipid peroxidation caused by alcohol. Introduction: A high-fat/high-sucrose diet leads to adverse metabolic changes that affect insulin sensitivity, function, and secretion. The source of fat in the diet might inhibit or increase this adverse effect. Fish oil and cocoa butter are a significant part of our diets. Yet comparisons of these commonly used fat sources with high sucrose on pancreas morphology and function are not made. This study investigated the comparative effects of a fish oil-based high-fat/highsucrose diet (Fish-HFDS) versus a cocoa butter-based high-fat/high-sucrose diet (Cocoa-HFDS) on endocrine pancreas morphology and function in mice. Methods: C57BL/6 male mice (n=12) were randomly assigned to dietary intervention either Fish-HFDS (n=6) or Cocoa-HFDS (n=6) for 22 weeks. Intraperitoneal glucose and insulin tolerance tests (IP-GTT and IP-ITT) were performed after 20-21 weeks of dietary intervention. Plasma concentrations of c-peptide, insulin, glucagon, GLP-1, and leptin were measured by Milliplex kit. Pancreatic tissues were collected for immunohistochemistry to measure islet number and composition. Tissues were multi-labelled with antibodies against insulin and glucagon, also including expression on Pdx1-positive cells. Results and discussion: Fish-HFDS-fed mice showed significantly reduced food intake and body weight gain compared to Cocoa-HFDS-fed mice. Fish-HFDS group had lower fasting blood glucose concentration and area under the curve (AUC) for both GTT and ITT. Plasma c-peptide, insulin, glucagon, and GLP-1 concentrations were increased in the Fish-HFDS group. Interestingly, mice fed the Fish-HFDS diet displayed higher plasma leptin concentration. Histochemical analysis revealed a significant increase in endocrine pancreas b-cells and islet numbers in mice fed Fish-HFDS compared to the Cocoa-HFDS group. Taken together, these findings suggest that in a high-fat/high-sucrose dietary setting, the source of the fat, especially fish oil, can ameliorate the effect of sucrose on glucose homeostasis and endocrine pancreas morphology and function. The inclusion of tungsten disulphide nanotubes (WS2 NTs) in chitosan, plasticized with glycerol, facilitates the formation of a polyelectrolyte complex. The glycerol interrupts the intramolecular hydrogen bonding between chitosan chains allowing positively charged protonated amines of chitosan to form a complex with negatively charged oxygen ions chemisorbed to the tungsten atoms in defects. These interactions, with the unique mechanical and chemical properties of WS2 NTs, result in a chitosan film with superior properties relative to unfilled chitosan. Even at low WS2 NT loadings (≤1 wt%), the Young's modulus (E) increases by 59%, tensile strength (σ) by 40% and tensile toughness by 74%, compared to neat chitosan, without sacrificing ductility. Addition of highly dispersed WS2 NTs significantly improves the gas barrier properties of chitosan, with a 50% reduction in oxygen permeability, while the addition of both glycerol and WS2 NTs to chitosan effectively reduces the carbon dioxide permeability by 80% and the water vapor transmission rate by 90%. The intrinsic antimicrobial efficacy of chitosan against both Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria is enhanced on inclusion of WS2 NTs. Polyelectrolyte complexation of WS2 NTs and glycerol‐plasticized chitosan provides a cost‐effective, sustainable route to biodegradable films with desirable mechanical, gas barrier properties, and antimicrobial efficacy suitable for food packaging applications. Background: Ileo-ileal knotting is a very rare cause of small bowel obstruction, and only a few reports have been published. Small bowel obstruction (SBO) is one of the most common emergency surgical conditions that require urgent evaluation and treatment and is one of the leading causes of emergency surgical admission. There are many causes of SBO that are known in general surgical practice, and these causes are different in the developing and developed worlds. Clinical presentation: In this article, we present a case of acute gangrenous SBO secondary to ileo-ileal knotting in a 37-year-old Ethiopian female patient after she presented with severe abdominal cramp, vomiting, and abdominal distension of 4 hours duration. The patient was operated on intraoperatively; she had gangrenous small bowel obstruction caused by ileo-ileal knotting. Later, the patient was discharged and improved after 12 days of hospital stay. Conclusion: Ileo-ileal knotting should always be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute small-bowel obstruction. Introduction: Group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) play a crucial role in house dust mite (HDM)-induced allergic inflammation, and allergen immunotherapy (AIT) holds promise for treating the disease by reducing the frequency of ILC2s. Despite significant progress in AIT for allergic diseases, there remains a need to improve the control of allergic symptoms. Methods: We investigated the synergistic effect of the Notch signaling pathway and subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) in treating allergic airway inflammation in mice and their impact on the ratio of ILC2s in lung tissues. This was achieved by establishing the HDM-induced airway allergic disorders (HAAD) model and SCIT model. Additionally, we conducted in vitro investigations into the effect of the Notch signaling pathway on the secretory function of activated ILC2s using fluorescence-activated cell sorting. Furthermore, we explored the coactivation of the Notch signaling pathway with SCIT in vitro by sorting ILC2s from the lung tissues of mice after SCIT modeling. Results: Previously, our group demonstrated that Notch signaling pathway inhibitors can reduce allergic airway inflammation in mice. Notch signaling induces lineage plasticity of mature ILC2s. In this study, we showed that AIT alleviates allergic airway inflammation and suppresses the frequency of ILC2s induced by HDM. Interestingly, AIT combined with a g-secretase inhibitor (GSI), an inhibitor of the Notch signaling pathway, significantly inhibited the frequency of ILC2s, reduced airway inflammation, and suppressed Th2-type responses in a mouse model. Furthermore, lung ILC2s from HDM-challenged mice with or without AIT were treated with GSI in vitro, and we found that GSI dramatically reduced the secretion of type 2 inflammatory factors in ILC2s. Discussion: These findings suggest that Notch signaling pathway inhibitors can be used as adjuvant therapy for AIT and may hold potential treatment value in the cooperative control of allergic airway inflammation during early AIT. We recently reported that transient receptor potential canonical (TRPC) 6 channel activity contributes to intracellular Zn2+ homeostasis in the heart. Zn2+ has also been implicated in the regulation of intestinal redox and microbial homeostasis. This study aims to investigate the role of TRPC6-mediated Zn2+ influx in the stress resistance of the intestine. The expression profile of TRPC1-C7 mRNAs in the actively inflamed mucosa from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients was analyzed using the GEO database. Systemic TRPC3 knockout (KO) and TRPC6 KO mice were treated with dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) to induce colitis. The Zn2+ concentration and the mRNA expression levels of oxidative/inflammatory markers in colon tissues were quantitatively analyzed, and gut microbiota profiles were compared. TRPC6 mRNA expression level was increased in IBD patients and DSS-treated mouse colon tissues. DSS-treated TRPC6 KO mice, but not TRPC3 KO mice, showed severe weight loss and increased disease activity index compared with DSS-treated WT mice. The mRNA abundances of antioxidant proteins were basically increased in the TRPC6 KO colon, with changes in gut microbiota profiles. Treatment with TRPC6 activator prevented the DSS-induced colitis progression accompanied by increasing Zn2+ concentration. Mogamulizumab (MOG) is an antibody targeting the CCR4 receptor, authorized for relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell (PTCL) and cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL). Its adoption in guidelines and endorsement by FDA and EMA established it as a systemic treatment, especially for advanced disease stages due to its comparatively lower toxicity. Clinical trials and real-world evidence have underscored its efficacy in advanced CTCLs, including mycosis fungoides and Sézary syndrome; PTCLs; and adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL), showcasing positive outcomes. Notably, the drug has demonstrated significant response rates, disease stability, and extended periods of progression-free survival, suggesting its applicability in cases with multiple treatment lines. Its safety profile is generally manageable, with adverse events (AEs) primarily related to the skin, infusion-related reactions, drug eruptions, autoimmune diseases, and skin disorders. The latter seem to appear as CCR4 can promote the skin-specific homing of lymphocytes, and MOG is directed against this receptor. While combination with immunostimulatory agents like interferon alpha and interleukin 12 has shown promising results, caution is urged when combining with PD1 inhibitors due to the heightened risk of immune-mediated AEs. Layered BiS2-based superconductor La(O,F)BiS2 can exhibit superconductivity via carrier doping, and its super-conducting properties can be changed by applying hydrostatic or chemical pressure through elemental substitution. Single-crystal LaO0.5F0.5BiS2 exhibits filamentary superconductivity with Tc of approximately 3 K. We found that the partial substitution of Bi with Sn in LaO0.5F0.5BiS2 induces a structural phase transition from the P4=nmm to P21=m structure. Bulk superconductivity with Tc of approximately 6 K emerged near this structural phase transition. We also observed filamentary superconductivity with Tc of approximately 8 K, which was approximately three times higher than that of the unsubstituted sample. BiS2-based superconductor Eu2SrBi2S2.5Se1.5F4 has been investigated to clarify between Tc and crystal structure under high-pressure. The electrical resistivity by Cubic anvil cell and XRD by Diamond anvil cell were measured by generating hydrostatic pressure. In electrical resistivity measurements, Tc increased from 2.05 to 3.22 K at 1.5 GPa and decreased below 2.62 K at 3 GPa. However, under higher-pressure, Tc exhibited a peak again at 4 GPa. These experimental results suggest the existence of pressure-induced multiple superconducting phases in Eu2SrBi2S2.5Se1.5F4. By XRD measurements, we can find that pressure-induced structural phase transitions occur near the pressure in the observation of Tc discontinuities. These results indicate the emergence of new superconducting phases through structural phase transitions. Eu2SrBi2S2.5Se1.5F4 was found to have three superconducting phases up to 12 GPa. Background/Aims: Recent studies have indicated that local inflammatory mediators are importantly involved in the regulation of renal function. However, it remains unknown how such local inflammation is triggered intracellularly in the kidney. The present study was designed to characterize the inflammasome centered by Nlrp3 in the kidney and also test the effect of its activation in the renal medulla. Methods and Results: By immunohistochemistry analysis, we found that inflammasome components, Nlrp3, Asc and caspase-1, were ubiquitously distributed in different kidney areas. The caspase-1 activity and IL-1β production were particularly high in the renal outer medulla compared to other kidney regions. Further confocal microscopy and RT-PCR analysis showed that Nlrp3, Asc and caspase-1 were particularly enriched in the thick ascending limb of Henle's loop. In anesthetized mice, medullary infusion of Nlrp3 inflammasome activator, monosodium urate (MSU), induced significant decreases in sodium excretion and medullary blood flow without changes in mean arterial blood pressure and renal cortical blood flow. Caspase-1 inhibitor, Ac-YVAD-CMK and deletion of Nlrp3 or Asc gene abolished MSU-induced decreases in renal sodium excretion and MBF. Conclusion: Our results indicate that renal medullary Nlrp3 inflammasomes represent a new regulatory mechanism of renal MBF and sodium excretion which may not depend on classical inflammatory response. Cerebral small vessel disease (cSVD) refers to a group of pathological processes with various etiologies affecting the small vessels of the brain. Most cases are sporadic, with age-related and hypertension-related sSVD and cerebral amyloid angiopathy being the most prevalent forms. Monogenic cSVD accounts for up to 5% of causes of stroke. Several causative genes have been identified. Sporadic cSVD has been widely studied whereas monogenic cSVD is still poorly characterized and understood. The majority of cases of both the sporadic and monogenic types, including cerebral autosomal-dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL), typically have their onset in adulthood. Types of cSVD with infantile and childhood onset are rare, and their diagnosis is often challenging. The present review discusses the clinical and neuroimaging findings of monogenic cSVD from the prenatal to adolescent period of development. Camellia chekiangoleosa is an economically important woody plant from the Genus Camellia in Theaceae, and its seed kernels are rich in edible oils of high health value. Yet, little is known about the molecular regulation of growth and development in C. chekiangoleosa. In this study, we characterized the MYB (Myeloblastosis) gene family that was widely involved in plant development and stress responses, and identified 235 members from the C. chekiangoleosa genome. Based on transcriptomic analysis of multiple tissues, we obtained tissue-specific expression profiles of the MYB genes. We found that 37 MYB genes were highly expressed during seed development, and among them, CcMYB33 (GAMYB) was specifically expressed in the seed coat, suggesting that it may be an important regulator. We cloned full-length sequences of the CcMYB33 gene and further analyzed its sequence characteristics and expression pattern. Our results indicated that CcMYB33 is an R2R3-type MYB transcription factor that is closely related to GAMYB genes of Arabidopsis thaliana. We showed that ectopic expression of CcMYB33 in Arabidopsis lines caused pleiotropical developmental defects, including abnormal leaves, fused stamen, and early flowering, among other things. We report a patient suffering from spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) who, following a non-selective lumbar blood patch, returned to his healthcare provider with severe symptoms of neurological deficits. It was subsequently discovered that the aforementioned deficits were due to a bilateral subdural hematoma, and an emergency surgical drainage of the hematoma has been performed. However, the hematoma reformed and potential cerebrospinal fluid leakage was consequently investigated through myelography. Following the diagnostic finding of a venous diverticulum, a selective blood patch was executed in the affected area, and in order to stabilize the hematoma, an embolization of the middle meningeal arteries was performed. β-Hydroxybutyrate (βOHB) is the major ketone in the body, and it is recognized as a metabolic energy source and an important signaling molecule. While ketone oxidation is essential in the brain during prolonged fasting/starvation, other organs such as skeletal muscle and the heart also use ketones as metabolic substrates. Additionally, βOHB-mediated molecular signaling events occur in heart and skeletal muscle cells, and via metabolism and/or signaling, ketones may contribute to optimal skeletal muscle health and cardiac function. Of importance, when the use of ketones for ATP production and/or as signaling molecules becomes disturbed in the presence of underlying obesity, type 2 diabetes, and/or cardiovascular diseases, these changes may contribute to cardiometabolic disease. As a result of these disturbances in cardiometabolic disease, multiple approaches have been used to elevate circulating ketones with the goal of optimizing either ketone metabolism or ketone-mediated signaling. These approaches have produced significant improvements in heart and skeletal muscle during cardiometabolic disease with a wide range of benefits that include improved metabolism, weight loss, better glycemic control, improved cardiac and vascular function, as well as reduced inflammation and oxidative stress. Herein, we present the evidence that indicates that ketone therapy could be used as an approach to help treat cardiometabolic diseases by targeting cardiac and skeletal muscles. Activation of hypoxia‐inducible factor 1α (HIF1α) contributes to blood‐retinal barrier (BRB) breakdown and pathological neovascularization responsible for vision loss in ischemic retinal diseases. During disease progression, mitochondrial biology is altered to adapt to the ischemic environment created by initial vascular dysfunction, but the mitochondrial adaptive mechanisms, which ultimately contribute to the pathogenesis of ischemic retinopathy, remain incompletely understood. In the present study, it is identified that expression of mitochondrial chaperone tumor necrosis factor receptor‐associated protein 1 (TRAP1) is essential for BRB breakdown and pathologic retinal neovascularization in mouse models mimicking ischemic retinopathies. Genetic Trap1 ablation or treatment with small molecule TRAP1 inhibitors, such as mitoquinone (MitoQ) and SB‐U015, alleviate retinal pathologies via proteolytic HIF1α degradation, which is mediated by opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore and activation of calcium‐dependent protease calpain‐1. These findings suggest that TRAP1 can be a promising target for the development of new treatments against ischemic retinopathy, such as retinopathy of prematurity and proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Around 10% of critically ill patients suffer acute kidney injury (AKI) requiring kidney replacement therapy (KRT), with a mortality rate approaching 50%. Although most survivors achieve sufficient renal recovery to be weaned from KRT, there are no recognized guidelines on the optimal period for weaning from KRT. A systematic review was conducted using a peer-reviewed strategy, combining themes of KRT (intermittent hemodialysis, CKRT: continuous veno-venous hemo/dialysis/filtration/diafiltration, sustained low-efficiency dialysis/filtration), factors predictive of successful weaning (defined as a prolonged period without new KRT) and patient outcomes. Our research resulted in studies, all observational, describing clinical and biological parameters predictive of successful weaning from KRT. Urine output prior to KRT cessation is the most studied variable and the most widely used in practice. Other predictive factors, such as urinary urea and creatinine and new urinary and serum renal biomarkers, including cystatin C and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), were also analyzed in the light of recent studies. This review presents the rationale for early weaning from KRT, the parameters that can guide it, and its practical modalities. Once the patient's clinical condition has stabilized and volume status optimized, a diuresis greater than 500 mL/day should prompt the intensivist to consider weaning. Despite significant therapeutic advancements, morbidity and mortality following myocardial infarction (MI) remain unacceptably high. This clinical challenge is primarily attributed to two significant factors: delayed reperfusion and the myocardial injury resulting from coronary reperfusion. Following reperfusion, there is a rapid intracellular pH shift, disruption of ionic balance, heightened oxidative stress, increased activity of proteolytic enzymes, initiation of inflammatory responses, and activation of several cell death pathways, encompassing apoptosis, necroptosis, and pyroptosis. The inflammatory cell death or pyroptosis encompasses the activation of the intracellular multiprotein complex known as the NLRP3 inflammasome. High-density lipoproteins (HDL) are endogenous particles whose components can either promote or mitigate the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. With cardiovascular disease (CVD) being a primary source of global morbidity and mortality, it is crucial that we understand the molecular pathophysiological mechanisms at play. Recently, numerous pro-inflammatory cytokines have been linked to several different CVDs, which are now often considered an adversely pro-inflammatory state. These cytokines most notably include interleukin-6 (IL-6),tumor necrosis factor (TNF)α, and the interleukin-1 (IL-1) family, amongst others. Not only does inflammation have intricate and complex interactions with pathophysiological processes such as oxidative stress and calcium mishandling, but it also plays a role in the balance between tissue repair and destruction. In this regard, pre-clinical and clinical evidence has clearly demonstrated the involvement and dynamic nature of pro-inflammatory cytokines in many heart conditions; however, the clinical utility of the findings so far remains unclear. Whether these cytokines can serve as markers or risk predictors of disease states or act as potential therapeutic targets, further extensive research is needed to fully understand the complex network of interactions that these molecules encompass in the context of heart disease. This review will highlight the significant advances in our understanding of the contributions of pro-inflammatory cytokines in CVDs, including ischemic heart disease (atherosclerosis, thrombosis, acute myocardial infarction, and ischemia-reperfusion injury), cardiac remodeling (hypertension, cardiac hypertrophy, cardiac fibrosis, cardiac apoptosis, and heart failure), different cardiomyopathies as well as ventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation. In addition, this article is focused on discussing the shortcomings in both pathological and therapeutic aspects of pro-inflammatory cytokines in CVD that still need to be addressed by future studies. BiCh2-based layered compounds have been extensively studied as potential thermoelectric and unconventional superconducting materials. For both functionalities, in-plane chemical pressure effects improve their thermoelectric or superconducting properties. In this study, we investigate the effects of in-plane chemical pressure on atomic vibrations of Bi by analyzing lattice specific heat measured at T = 1.9–300 K with multiple Debye and Einstein models for thermoelectric LaOBi(S,Se)2 and superconducting LaO0.5F0.5Bi(S,Se)2. We reveal that in-plane chemical pressure enhances the oscillator number of the Einstein mode corresponding to large-amplitude Bi vibration along the c -axis in both the systems. Advances in cancer treatment have increased patient survival rates, shifting clinical focus towards minimizing treatment-related morbidity, including cardiovascular issues. Since echocardiography allows for a comprehensive non-invasive assessment at all cancer stages, it is well suited to monitor cardiovascular disease secondary to oncology treatment. This has earned it significant attention in the study of cardiac tumors and treatment-induced cardiac alterations. Ultrasound methods--ranging from transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography to ultrasound diagnostic techniques including myocardial strain imaging, myocardial work indices, three-dimensional cardiac imaging--offer a holistic view of both the tumor and its treatment impact cardiac function. Stress echocardiography, myocardial contrast echocardiography, and myocardial acoustic angiography further augment this capability. Together, these echocardiographic techniques provide clinicians with early detection opportunities for cardiac damage, enabling timely interventions. As such, echocardiography continues to be instrumental in monitoring and managing the cardiovascular health of oncology patients, complementing efforts to optimize their overall treatment and survival outcomes. Background: Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is a common sequela of traumatic brain injury. Middle meningeal artery embolization (MMAE) has shown promising results as an emerging minimally invasive alternative treatment. The purpose of this study is to examine the safety and efficacy of MMAE performed in patients with cSDH, acute-on-chronic, and subacute SDH with a traumatic etiology. Background: Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is a common sequela of traumatic brain injury. Middle meningeal artery embolization (MMAE) has shown promising results as an emerging minimally invasive alternative treatment. The purpose of this study is to examine the safety and efficacy of MMAE performed in patients with cSDH, acute-on-chronic, and subacute SDH with a traumatic etiology. Results: In our patient population, 78% (39) either had lesions improve or completely resolved. The sample included 50 patients with a mean age of 74 years old. Statistically significant reductions in lesion size were found from pre- to post-procedure in the left lesions, right lesions, and midline shifts. The left lesions decreased from 13.88 ± 5.70 mm to 3.19 ± 4.89 mm at 3-6 months with P < 0.001. The right lesions decreased from 13.74 ± 5.28 mm to 4.93 ± 7.46 mm at 3-6 months with P = 0.02. Midline shifts decreased from 3.78 ± 3.98 mm to 0.48 ± 1.31 mm at 3-6 months with P = 0.02. No complications were experienced for bleeding, hematoma, worsening SDH, pseudoaneurysm, or stroke. Conclusion: Our pilot study from a single center utilizing MMAE demonstrates that MMAE is successful without increasing treatment-related complications not only for cSDH but also in acute-on-cSDH and SDH with a subacute component. Systemic autoinflammatory diseases are a heterogeneous group of rare genetic disorders caused by dysregulation of the innate immune system. Understanding the complex mechanisms underlying these conditions is critical for developing effective treatments. Cellular models are essential for identifying new conditions and studying their pathogenesis. Traditionally, these studies have used primary cells and cell lines of disease‐relevant cell types, although newer induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)‐based models might have unique advantages. In this review, we discuss the three cellular models used in autoinflammatory disease research, their strengths and weaknesses, and their applications to inform future research in the field. Background: This study aimed to assess the usefulness of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) for older adults with heart failure (HF) who need nursing care and investigate the effect of CR on cognitive function (CF) and basic activities of daily living (BADL). Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study. The study included older adults with HF eligible for long‐term care insurance in fiscal year 2014 (FY2014) as the baseline and followed them up until March 2018. Patients were divided into two groups, CR (+) and CR (−), and the changes in their CF and BADL scores over time for 3 years were investigated. Results: Of the 765 patients included in the study, 36.5% performed CR. BADL scores in the CR (+) and CR (−) groups (mean (SE)) were 5.81 (0.26) vs. 5.87 (0.20) in FY2014, 5.6 (0.28) vs. 5.92 (0.21) in FY2015, 5.72 (0.31) vs. 6.15 (0.22) in FY2016, and 5.64 (0.33) vs. 6.40 (0.25) in FY2017, respectively. BADL scores worsened over time in the CR (−) group but had a trend to inhibit decline in the CR (+) group, and a significant difference was observed between both groups (p = 0.04). Multivariate analysis showed a significant difference in CR as a factor suppressing ADL decline after 1 year (adjusted odds ratios: 0.54, 95% confidence intervals: 0.36–0.82; p = 0.004). However, no significant difference in the CF scores was observed. Magnetic field-assisted drug delivery is a fascinating strategy to transport chemotherapeutic drugs. Ferrite nanoparticles (NPs) of the form MFe2O4 are a good choice for utilization as magnetic nanocarriers. Although many ferrite NPs have been tested for their function as nanocarriers, their nonspecific toxicity must be minimized. In this work, calcium–nickel ferrite nanoparticles (CNF MNPs) coated with dextran– β -cyclodextrin and dextran– β -cyclodextrin–dextran polymers are reported. The synthesized NPs are characterized using XRD, TEM, EDX and XPS. The magnetic properties are investigated by vibrating sample magnetometry. The 20 nm-sized CNF MNPs fall in the size range suitable for cancer drug transport. The magnetic nanocarriers containing the polymers are superparamagnetic. The camptothecin (CPT) loading efficiency is observed as 88%. The in vitro CPT release profiles are sustained, displaying a continuous release for a period of above 45 h. The cytotoxicity studies on A549 cell lines reveal that the CPT-loaded CNF MNPs are active against them and can be used as an anticancer drug carrier. Calcium-nickel ferrite nanoparticles coated with dextran-β-cyclodextrin and dextran-β-cyclodextrin-dextran polymers are synthesized. The magnetic nanoparticles are about 20 nm in size and fall in the size-range suitable for cancer drug transport. The magnetic nanocarriers containing the polymers are superparamagnetic. The anticancer drug camptothecin is loaded on the nanoparticles with a loading efficiency of 88%. The in-vitro drug release is sustained, displaying a continuous release for a period of above 45 hours. Postoperative loss of correction is a concern in cases of distal radius fracture with bone loss after surgery. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the usefulness of a β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) with unidirectional pore structure (Affinos®: Kuraray Co., Ltd, Tokyo, Japan) with internal fixation in patients with bone defects during the correction of distal radius fractures. Thirty-nine patients (40 radii) treated between 2016 and August 2020 were included in the study. There were 8 males and 31 females; the mean age was 70.9 (32–88). The mean postoperative observation period was 14.6 (3.4–24) months. The bone defect that occurred in the surgery was filled with Affinos® and fixed with a locking plate. Radial inclination (RI), volar tilt (VT), and ulnar variance (UV) were evaluated after the operation and at the final observation. The start of absorption and the completion of replacement to the host bone of Affinos® were also evaluated. There were no complications associated with grafts of Affinos®. The mean time of translucent findings around artificial bone was 1.85 (0.5–6) months, and that of complete resorption was 10.6 (1.5–16.5) months after surgery. The mean RI was 21.82° after surgery and 21.16° at final observation. The mean VT was 8.54° after surgery and 8.50° at final observation. The mean UV was −0.3 mm after surgery and 0.5 mm at final observation. Affinos® was resorbed relatively early, and host bone formation was observed. Purpose: This systematic review updates the MASCC/ESMO recommendations for high-emetic-risk chemotherapy (HEC) published in 2016–2017. HEC still includes cisplatin, carmustine, dacarbazine, mechlorethamine, streptozocin, and cyclophosphamide in doses of > 1500 mg/m2 and the combination of cyclophosphamide and an anthracycline (AC) in women with breast cancer. Methods: A systematic review report following the PRISMA guidelines of the literature from January 1, 2015, until February 1, 2023, was performed. PubMed (Ovid), Scopus (Google), and the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews were searched. The literature search was limited to randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. Results: Forty-six new references were determined to be relevant. The main topics identified were (1) steroid-sparing regimens, (2) olanzapine-containing regimens, and (3) other issues such as comparisons of antiemetics of the same drug class, intravenous NK1 receptor antagonists, and potentially new antiemetics. Five updated recommendations are presented. Conclusion: There is no need to prescribe steroids (dexamethasone) beyond day 1 after AC HEC, whereas a 4-day regimen is recommended in non-AC HEC. Olanzapine is now recommended as a fixed part of a four-drug prophylactic antiemetic regimen in both non-AC and AC HEC. No major differences between 5-HT3 receptor antagonists or between NK1 receptor antagonists were identified. No new antiemetic agents qualified for inclusion in the updated recommendations. The effectiveness of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) in patients with cardiovascular disease requiring continuous CR from an acute care hospital to a convalescent rehabilitation hospital is unknown. Therefore, we compared the effect of CR in a rehabilitation hospital for patients with cardiovascular disease with that of those who underwent cardiovascular surgery. Sixty-nine consecutive patients were admitted to two rehabilitation hospitals for CR. Patients were classified by primary disease into two groups: patients with cardiovascular disease (cardiology group, 26 patients) and patients who underwent cardiovascular surgery (surgery group, 43 patients). Clinical information, physical function, cognitive function, activities of daily living (ADL), quality of life (QOL), amount of CR, and length of hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Compared with clinical features, age was significantly higher in the cardiology group (P < 0.001), and the preadmission Barthel index was significantly lower in the cardiology group (P = 0.025). Physical function at the time of transfer was significantly lower in the cardiology group than in the surgery group for the short physical performance battery (P < 0.001), gait speed (P = 0.005), and 6-min walking distance (P = 0.042). No significant difference was found in the amount of CR performed or the length of hospital stay, and no interaction effects were observed in improvements in physical function, exercise tolerance, or QOL. In conclusion, in rehabilitation hospitals, patients with cardiovascular disease were older, had lower preadmission ADL, and had lower a physical function at transfer than those who underwent cardiovascular surgery, but CR improved physical function and QOL to the same extent. Lily (Lilium spp.) is an important horticultural crop, but its use is limited due to serious pollen contamination problems. There are many studies on pollen development in model plants, but few on flower crops such as lilies. Gibberellin (GA) is a large class of hormones and plays an important role in plant vegetative growth and reproductive development. GAMYB is a group of the R2R3-MYB family upregulated by gibberellin, and plays an important role in anther development. Here, we isolated a novel GAMYB, named LoMYB65, from lily, which was closely related to the AtMYB65 and AtMYB33 in Arabidopsis. Fluorescence quantitative PCR results showed that LoMYB65 was mainly expressed in lily anthers. LoMYB65 could be activated by 288 mmol • L-1 GA3 treatment and the LoMYB65 protein was located in the nucleus and cytoplasm, and had transactivation in yeast and tobacco leaf cells. The conserved motif within 226 amino acids of the C-terminal of LoMYB65 contributed to its transactivation. Overexpression of LoMYB65 caused dwarf phenotype, unnormal tapetum development, less seeds of siliques in transgenic Arabidopsis plants, the transgenic plants showed partly male sterile. Simultaneously, silencing of LoMYB65 with VIGS (Virus Induced Gene Silencing) in lily anthers caused unnormal pollen development and reduced the pollen amount. Overexpression of LoMYB65 in Arabidopsis and silencing of LoMYB65 in lily resulted in decreased pollen counts, so we speculate that LoMYB65 may be dose-dependent. Overall, these findings suggest that LoMYB65 may play an important role in anther development and pollen formation in lily. Gastrointestinal cancers (GICs) are one of the most recurrent diseases in the world. Among all GICs, pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the deadliest and continues to disrupt people's lives worldwide. The most frequent pancreatic cancer type is pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), representing 90 to 95% of all pancreatic malignancies. PC is one of the cancers with the worst prognoses due to its non-specific symptoms that lead to a late diagnosis, but also due to the high resistance it develops to anticancer drugs. Gemcitabine is a standard treatment option for PDAC, however, resistance to this anticancer drug develops very fast. The microbiome was recently classified as a cancer hallmark and has emerged in several studies detailing how it promotes drug resistance. However, this area of study still has seen very little development, and more answers will help in developing personalized medicine. PC is one of the cancers with the highest mortality rates; therefore, it is crucial to explore how the microbiome may mold the response to reference drugs used in PDAC, such as gemcitabine. In this article, we provide a review of what has already been investigated regarding the impact that the microbiome has on the development of PDAC in terms of its effect on the gemcitabine pathway, which may influence the response to gemcitabine. Therapeutic advances in this type of GIC could bring innovative solutions and more effective therapeutic strategies for other types of GIC, such as colorectal cancer (CRC), due to its close relation with the microbiome.
