Jinping Neutrino Experiment (Jinping) is proposed to significantly improvemeasurements on solar neutrinos and geoneutrinos in China Jinping Laboratory -a lab with a number of unparalleled features, thickest overburden, lowestreactor neutrino background, etc., which identify it as the world-bestlow-energy neutrino laboratory. The proposed experiment will have target massof 4 kilotons of liquid scintillator or water-based liquid scintillator, with afiducial mass of 2 kilotons for neutrino-electron scattering events and 3kilotons for inverse-beta interaction events. A number of initial sensitivitiesstudies have been carried out, including on the transition phase for the solarneutrinos oscillation from the vacuum to the matter effect, the discovery ofsolar neutrinos from the carbon-nitrogen-oxygen (CNO) cycle, the resolution ofthe high and low metallicity hypotheses, and the unambiguous separation on Uand Th cascade decays from the dominant crustal anti-electron neutrinos inChina.

The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 kton multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator detector, was proposed with the determination of the neutrino mass hierarchy (MH) as a primary physics goal. The excellent energy resolution and the large fiducial volume anticipated for the JUNO detector offer exciting opportunities for addressing many important topics in neutrino and astro-particle physics. In this document, we present the physics motivations and the anticipated performance of the JUNO detector for various proposed measurements. Following an introduction summarizing the current status and open issues in neutrino physics, we discuss how the detection of antineutrinos generated by a cluster of nuclear power plants allows the determination of the neutrino MH at a 3-4σ significance with six years of running of JUNO. The measurement of antineutrino spectrum with excellent energy resolution will also lead to the precise determination of the neutrino oscillation parameters sin2θ12, Δm212, and | Δmee2 to an accuracy of better than 1%, which will play a crucial role in the future unitarity test of the MNSP matrix. The JUNO detector is capable of observing not only antineutrinos from the power plants, but also neutrinos/antineutrinos from terrestrial and extra-terrestrial sources, including supernova burst neutrinos, diffuse supernova neutrino background, geoneutrinos, atmospheric neutrinos, and solar neutrinos. As a result of JUNO's large size, excellent energy resolution, and vertex reconstruction capability, interesting new data on these topics can be collected. For example, a neutrino burst from a typical core-collapse supernova at a distance of 10 kpc would lead to ∼5000 inverse-beta-decay events and ∼2000 all-flavor neutrino-proton ES events in JUNO, which are of crucial importance for understanding the mechanism of supernova explosion and for exploring novel phenomena such as collective neutrino oscillations. Detection of neutrinos from all past core-collapse supernova explosions in the visible universe with JUNO would further provide valuable information on the cosmic star-formation rate and the average core-collapse neutrino energy spectrum. Antineutrinos originating from the radioactive decay of uranium and thorium in the Earth can be detected in JUNO with a rate of ∼400 events per year, significantly improving the statistics of existing geoneutrino event samples. Atmospheric neutrino events collected in JUNO can provide independent inputs for determining the MH and the octant of the θ23 mixing angle. Detection of the 7Be and 8B solar neutrino events at JUNO would shed new light on the solar metallicity problem and examine the transition region between the vacuum and matter dominated neutrino oscillations. Regarding light sterile neutrino topics, sterile neutrinos with 10-5 eV2 < Δm412 < 10-2 eV2 and a sufficiently large mixing angle θ14 could be identified through a precise measurement of the reactor antineutrino energy spectrum. Meanwhile, JUNO can also provide us excellent opportunities to test the eV-scale sterile neutrino hypothesis, using either the radioactive neutrino sources or a cyclotron-produced neutrino beam. The JUNO detector is also sensitive to several other beyondthe-standard-model physics. Examples include the search for proton decay via the p → K+ + ν decay channel, search for neutrinos resulting from dark-matter annihilation in the Sun, search for violation of Lorentz invariance via the sidereal modulation of the reactor neutrino event rate, and search for the effects of non-standard interactions. The proposed construction of the JUNO detector will provide a unique facility to address many outstanding crucial questions in particle and astrophysics in a timely and cost-effective fashion. It holds the great potential for further advancing our quest to understanding the fundamental properties of neutrinos, one of the building blocks of our Universe.

The ever-evolving mesoscopic scale optical imaging systems facilitate the new discoveries in the neuroscience research. They excel at providing a complete view of the long projections of a single neuron across the whole brain. Although the preparation protocols and the optical imaging systems are rapidly evolving, there are still some noise and artifacts interfering downstream data processing and analysis due to the defects in the imaging system or during the sample preparation. A specific denoising procedure is usually developed for one optical imaging system as a post-processing measure. However, the development of the optical imaging systems usually follows in an incremental manner. It would be better to adapt the denoising model to the new optical imaging system than training a denoising model from scratch. In this paper, the proposed learning schema and practice learn a new denoising model for a new optical imaging system based on the existing denoise models and bootstrap a denoising model without the ground-truth denoising labels. We achieve this through a CycleGAN based model and the fact that the optical imaging systems usually produce images both from the signal area and the fixture area. The experiments show that our proposed procedure can provide a comparable denoising performance against other state-of-the-art denoising methods for several optical neuroimaging datasets.

In order to effectively simulate the process of random propagation of hydraulic fractures in fractured shale reservoirs, a new method of random propagation of hydraulic fractures based on the finite element mesh embedded with zero-thickness cohesive elements is proposed. This new method is based on the topological data structure of element nodes and the splitting mode of mesh nodes. The accuracy and effectiveness of the random propagation method are verified by comparing with the analytical solution of KGD model and two kinds of laboratory experiments. Meanwhile, the influences of horizontal in-situ stress difference and reservoir heterogeneity on the process of random propagation of hydraulic fractures are evaluated by running numerical examples. The results show that: (1) the new method makes up for the deficiency that the cohesive element built-in ABAQUS platform can not effectively simulate the random propagation of hydraulic fractures; (2) under a higher horizontal in-situ stress difference condition, the stronger the heterogeneity of a shale reservoir is, the easier it is to reopen a high-angle natural fracture intersecting with hydraulic fractures. The proposed method can accurately describe the random propagation behavior of complex hydraulic fractures, and thus provide a novel means for numerical simulation of naturally fractured shale reservoirs.

Abstract Background Osteoarthritis is a disabling disease, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. Increasing evidence has indicated that Chinese herbal medicine including Eucommia ulmoides (EU) and Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae (RAB) have potential in the treatment of osteoarthritis, and this is associated with their multi-target and multi-link action characteristics. Although their potential anti-arthritic activity has been reported, the exact mechanism of EU-RAB action in osteoarthritis remains unexplored. Therefore, this study explores the mechanism of EU-RAB against osteoarthritis using network pharmacology and molecular docking technology. Methods Public databases including TCMSP、BATMAN-TCM、OMIM and Genecards were used to predict the bioactive ingredients and putative targets of EU-RAB against osteoarthritis. Enrichment analysis was performed to expound the biological functions and associated pathways of the hub targets. Cytoscape software was used to construct a “compounds-targets-pathways” network for elucidating the comprehensive molecular mechanism of EU-RAB against osteoarthritis. Molecular docking was used to verify the correlation between the main active ingredients and hub targets. Results Network pharmacological analysis of EU-RAB in the treatment of osteoarthritis, identified 50 active ingredients including quercetin, kaempferol, wogonin, and baicalein with important biological effect. A total of 68 key targets were screened, including IL-6, EGFR, MAPK8, etc., and they were found to be enriched in a series of signaling pathways, such as apoptosis, TNF, MAPK, PI3K/AKT, and IL-17 signaling pathways. Moreover, molecular docking analysis showed that the main ingredients were tightly bound to the core targets, further confirming the anti-arthritic effects. Conclusion Based on network pharmacology and molecular docking analysis, the present study provides insights into the potential mechanism of EU-RAB in osteoarthritis after successfully screening for associated key target genes and signaling pathways. These findings further provide a theoretical basis for further pharmacological research into the potential mechanism of EU-RAB in osteoarthritis.

- Abstract
The core-collapse supernova (CCSN) is considered one of the most energetic astrophysical events in the universe. The early and prompt detection of neutrinos before (pre-SN) and during the supernova (SN) burst presents a unique opportunity for multi-messenger observations of CCSN events. In this study, we describe the monitoring concept and present the sensitivity of the system to pre-SN and SN neutrinos at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector currently under construction in South China. The real-time monitoring system is designed to ensure both prompt alert speed and comprehensive coverage of progenitor stars. It incorporates prompt monitors on the electronic board as well as online monitors at the data acquisition stage. Assuming a false alert rate of 1 per year, this monitoring system exhibits sensitivity to pre-SN neutrinos up to a distance of approximately 1.6 (0.9) kiloparsecs and SN neutrinos up to about 370 (360) kiloparsecs for a progenitor mass of 30 solar masses, considering both normal and inverted mass ordering scenarios. The pointing ability of the CCSN is evaluated by analyzing the accumulated event anisotropy of inverse beta decay interactions from pre-SN or SN neutrinos. This, along with the early alert, can play a crucial role in facilitating follow-up multi-messenger observations of the next galactic or nearby extragalactic CCSN.

The China Dark Matter Experiment (CDEX) is located at the China Jinping underground laboratory (CJPL) and aims to directly detect the WIMP flux with high sensitivity in the low mass region. Here we present a study of the predicted photon and electron backgrounds including the background contribution of the structure materials of the germanium detector, the passive shielding materials, and the intrinsic radioactivity of the liquid argon that serves as an anti-Compton active shielding detector. A detailed geometry is modeled and the background contribution has been simulated based on the measured radioactivities of all possible components within the GEANT4 program. Then the photon and electron background level in the energy region of interest (<10^-2 events kg-1 day-1 keV-1 (cpkkd)) is predicted based on Monte Carlo simulations. The simulated result is consistent with the design goal of CDEX-10 experiment, 0.1 cpkkd, which shows that the active and passive shield design of CDEX-10 is effective and feasible., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, 4 tables, submitted to Chinese Physics C

The CDEX Collaboration has been established for direct detection of light dark matter particles, using ultra-low energy threshold p-type point-contact germanium detectors, in China JinPing underground Laboratory (CJPL). The first 1 kg point-contact germanium detector with a sub-keV energy threshold has been tested in a passive shielding system located in CJPL. The outputs from both the point-contact p+ electrode and the outside n+ electrode make it possible to scan the lower energy range of less than 1 keV and at the same time to detect the higher energy range up to 3 MeV. The outputs from both p+ and n+ electrode may also provide a more powerful method for signal discrimination for dark matter experiment. Some key parameters, including energy resolution, dead time, decay times of internal X-rays, and system stability, have been tested and measured. The results show that the 1 kg point-contact germanium detector, together with its shielding system and electronics, can run smoothly with good performances. Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) are the candidates of dark matter in our universe. Up to now any direct interaction of WIMP with nuclei has not been observed yet. The exclusion limits of the spin-independent cross section of WIMP-nucleon which have been experimentally obtained is about 10^{-7}pb at high mass region and only 10^{-5}pb} at low mass region. China Jin-Ping underground laboratory CJPL is the deepest underground lab in the world and provides a very promising environment for direct observation of dark matter. The China Dark Matter Experiment (CDEX) experiment is going to directly detect the WIMP flux with high sensitivity in the low mass region. Both CJPL and CDEX have achieved a remarkable progress in recent two years. The CDEX employs a point-contact germanium semi-conductor detector PCGe whose detection threshold is less than 300 eV. We report the measurement results of Muon flux, monitoring of radioactivity and Radon concentration carried out in CJPL, as well describe the structure and performance of the 1 kg PCGe detector CDEX-1 and 10kg detector array CDEX-10 including the detectors, electronics, shielding and cooling systems. Finally we discuss the physics goals of the CDEX-1, CDEX-10 and the future CDEX-1T detectors., Comment: 36pages,39 figures

294. Constraints on anomalous $tcZ$ coupling from $\bar B \to \bar K^* \mu^+ \mu^-$ and $B_s \to \mu^+ \mu^-$ decays

In this paper, we analyze the possible anomalous $tcZ$ coupling effects in the $b \to s $ mediated decays $\bar B \to \bar K^* \mu^+ \mu^-$ and $B_s \to \mu^+ \mu^-$. After exploiting the available experimental data, the combined constraints on the anomalous coupling $X_{ct}^L$ are derived. It is found that, the bound on the magnitude $|X_{ct}^L|$ is dominated by the branching ratios of these two decays. Furthermore, one sign-flipped solution is excluded by the longitudinal fraction of $\bar B \to \bar K^* \mu^+ \mu^-$ at the low dilepton mass region. After considering the combined constraints, for general complex coupling $X_{ct}^L$, the predicted upper bound on $\mathcal B (t \to cZ)$ are compatible with that from the recent CMS direct search. In particular, for the case of real coupling $X_{ct}^L$, the upper bound reads $\mathcal B (t \to cZ)<1.0\times 10^{-4}$, which is much lower than the current CMS bound but still accessible at the LHC. With improved measurements at the LHC, the colser correlations between the $t \to cZ$ and $b \to s$ mediated (semi-) leptonic decays are expected in the near future., Comment: 23 pages, 9 figures, 2 tables. v3: effects due to the width difference \Delta\Gamma_s added, numerical results and figure.3 and 4 slightly changed, main conclusions of the paper remain the same, matches published version in JHEP
