The aim of this work was to investigate the color change of cotton fabrics with stainless steel yarns incorporated. In order to establish the impact of conductive yarns’ composition properties in the fabric, concentrations and two different dyeing profiles based on direct and reactive dyes chemistry were applied. The success of this novel e-textile design was evaluated colorimetrically with two different dye concentrations as well through various linear electrical resistances to obtain solid statistical conclusions. The dyed samples were colorimetrically evaluated and the electrical resistances of conductive yarns inside the fabric structure were compared and discussed statistically before and after dyeing. The results provided evidence that dyeing has great influence on electrical resistances of conductive yarns used as transmission lines for electro-textile applications. The greatest changes in electrical resistances were observed with samples including thin conductive yarns and untwisted conductive yarn after dyeing processes. Additionally, it can be concluded that the presence of stainless steel conductive threads significantly retards the dyeing processes depending on the dyestuff concentration and weave type, resulting in major color differences, especially when plain weave type is used or the dyestuff concentration is less than 1% for twill and sateen weaves.

Digital replantation is a well-established and increasingly common procedure in specialized hand surgery units worldwide. Replantation after complex trauma is often challenging due to severely injured, small-diameter vessels, especially at the distal level. Digit salvage by arteriovenous anastomosis has been inadequately described in the literature for such cases. The objective of this study was to evaluate the outcomes and complications of arteriovenous digital replantation in complex amputations. We reviewed five cases of digital replantation using a single palmar afferent arteriovenous anastomosis and drainage via a dorsal vein. The postoperative protocol followed our standard replantation protocol. All digits survived with no revision procedures. No major complications were observed. One digit developed partial epidermolysis and one thumb developed marginal skin necrosis, both treated conservatively. The color of the replanted digits was not a reliable monitoring parameter but capillary refill was consistently visible. Microangiography performed four months after surgery demonstrated good digit perfusion. Our results support palmar arteriovenous anastomosis as a reliable alternative in digital replantation if distal arteries are unavailable for anastomosis. The results also suggest that this digit salvage procedure can be carried out at a more proximal level than previously reported.

A new environmental friendly technology was developed for the preparation of highly crystalline binder-free zeolite ZSM-5 granules. It comprises a preparation of amorphous aluminosilicate granules by using inexpensive industrial reactants like sodium water glass and sodium aluminate without the use of organic structure directing agents. Dried aluminosilicate gel was compacted in granules by using sodium water glass as a “pseudo-binder”. Zeolite ZSM-5 granules were prepared by hydrothermal crystallization at 180 °C after 24 h by using lifted set-up reactor in 0.01 M NaOH comprising 10 wt% of amorphous aluminosilicate granules. The influence of crystallization temperature and time, SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 molar ratio of reactants and relationship between the amount of amorphous aluminosilicate granules and NaOH medium during hydrothermal treatment on the crystallization process of granulated ZSM-5 product were monitored and characterized by X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, scanning electron microscope, and N 2 physisorption technique. The presented procedure enabled more than doubled increase of the synthesis product yield, which positively impacts the economy and ecology of the production process.

The purpose of this research was to apply four stable colloidal dispersions, combining di erent TiO2 coreshell nanoparticles, onto polyester fabric, according to exhaustion procedure, in order to enhance fabrics' water and moisture absorption properties. Firstly, all colloidal dispersions were analysed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) and secondly, the morphologies of TiO2 modi ed PES surfaces were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In addition, the superhydrophilic character of brous surfaces was investigated by water contact angle measurement. For this purpose, dynamic tensiometry was employed by measuring the changes in the net force on a surface during the repeated immersion and emersion of a solid into a probe liquid. The obtained results show excellent wettability of TiO2 upgraded PES fabrics depending on the type of applied nano-sized TiO2-hybride.

This study evaluates the long-term clinical outcome and complication rate after digital nerve repair in adults and aims to identify possible prognostic factors of sensory recovery. End-to-end epineural coaptation was performed under magnification. A total of 93 coapted digital nerves were clinically evaluated with a mean follow-up of 3.5 years (range 1–6 years). The mean two-point discrimination was 10.6 mm (versus 4.4 mm for the contralateral side). Cutaneous pressure threshold tested with Semmes–Weinstein monofilaments showed a mean value of 2.7 (versus 2.2 for the contralateral side). Only 2% of our patients developed painful neuromas. None of our patients recovered normal functional sensibility, however, recovery of protective sensation contributed to a high reported level of satisfaction. No correlation was observed between the sensory outcome and age, smoking, mechanism of injury, lesion to or anastomosis of a digital artery, or time of immobilization. The only identified predictor of the result was the surgeon’s level of experience. This highlights the importance of adequate training and practice in the surgical repair of smaller peripheral nerves. Level of evidence: IV

The appearance and hand of end-use fabrics has become more and more important when purchasing textile fabrics. The finishing parameters have complex influences on the large number of changes that occur in fabric properties during finishing processes. This study focused on the influences of different finishing parameters on mechanical and surface properties in order to discover the most appropriate finishing process according to the requirements of fabric handle and appearance. The KES-F system was used to evaluate fabric hand objectively, as well as the mechanical and surface properties of a woven wool fabric. Four finishing processes were selected, which differed in relation to the temperature when drying (T1=160 C, T2=180 C) and processing conditions during autoclave decatizing (T1=95 C, p1=0.4 bar, T2=110 C, p2=1 bar). The effect of the influential parameters inside four different finishing processes on the mechanical properties and hand of a selected woven fabric was evaluated using the analysis of variance. The results show that tensile properties are much more influenced by the belt pressing process while bending and shear properties are influenced by continuous decatizing process, which is the process that mostly improves fabric stability at the beginning of the dry finishing cycle. When the primary and total hand values were observed, it could be seen that applying chemicals during belt pressing had some consequences, the impacts of which could be observed directly in the resulting hand values.

- Abstract
Introduction The management of painful end-neuromas of the superficial branch of the radial nerve (SBRN) remains challenging due to high levels of pain relapse. The novel technique of stromal vascular fraction (SVF)-enriched fat grafting showed continuous pain relief, although failed to prove statistically significant. Besides acting as a mechanical barrier, SVF-enriched fat grafting might also affect the cellular level. The aim of this study was to compare clinical outcomes of SVF to the widely popular intramuscular transposition technique. Patients and methods In this cohort study, 10 consecutive patients treated for painful end-neuromas of the SBRN between 2010 and 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. Microsurgical resection of end-neuromas was performed in all patients. Five patients were treated with subsequent intramuscular transposition into the brachioradialis muscle and five patients received SVF-enriched fat grafting. Five different pain modalities and various predictors were compared pre- and up to 36 months post-operatively. Results In the transposition group, sustained pain reduction was not observed after an initial significant reduction 2 months' post-surgery, resulting in pain relapse at 36 months and comparable to the preoperative assessment. In the graft group, some degree of pain reduction was observed at 2 months after the surgery and proved to be constant in the long-term outcome, although not statistically significant compared to preoperative levels. Conclusion Both SVF-enriched fat grafting and intramuscular transposition failed to prove statistical significant pain reduction in treating symptomatic neuromas of peripheral nerves.

This paper focuses on the Kras/Carso Food Tour to present the challenges of developing a luxury tourism product. The tour's design followed the current strategy of the Slovenian Tourist Board, which defines specific criteria for a luxury experience. Contextualized by the experiential trends in tourism, the paper juxtaposes the bottom-up and top-down perspectives on luxury experiences. The authors argue that mediation by experts familiar with academic discourses and local culture is beneficial for the development of a successful tourism product. The study contributes to the debates on luxury tourism, which have neglected bottom-up perceptions in tourist discourse and overlooked the dilemmas people face when »luxurifying« their traditions and heritage practices. Način, roki in posledice nepravočasnega in nepravilnega grajanja napak v zakonodaji niso enovito urejeni.

Carbon Capture and Storage – CCS) v izbrano globokomorsko slanico Gorgon, kjer smo ugotovili, da dodatek Ar v sistem povzroči zmanjšanje kapacitete shranjevanja CO2. The purpose of the master's thesis was the establishment of instrumentation and the development and application of methods of hanging drops for measuring surface tension and diffusion coefficients in a two-phase system in the vicinity of the critical point. The geometry of the drop was determined with the help of industrial camera Basler and software program Open Drop 1.1. Densities of two-phase systems, which we needed in determining the surface tension and diffusion coefficients, were taken either from the database of NIST or determined by densitymeter Anton Paar DMA 602. The first part of the master's thesis illustrates the use of hanging drop method for determining surface tension of two-phase systems. The method was calibrated for the two-phase system of water/CO2 at isotherms of 25 °C and 45 °C in the pressures up to 200 bar. The results of the calibration of the method showed a good comparison with the literature, which is sufficient for the subsequent measurement of the surface tension, yet unexplored two-phase systems, brine/CO2, the brine/CO2 + 5 vol.% argon and brine/CO2+10 vol.% argon at isotherms of 40 °C, 50 °C, 60 °C, 70 °C and 80 °C in the range of pressures from 50 bar to 300 bar. Surface tensions of the measured two-phase systems were used in determining the storage capacity of carbon dioxide (Carbon Capture and Storage - CCS) in a selected deep brine Gorgon, where we have found that the addition of argon in the system results in a reduction in capacity storage of CO2. In the second part of the master's thesis, we have developed a method for measuring the diffusion coefficients from the geometry of the hanging drop. The method is based on the assumption of pseudostationary state of the system and the mass transfer with an equimolar countercurrent diffusion. The developed method was calibrated for the system water/CO2 at isotherms of 25 °C and 45 °C in the range of pressures from 50 bar to 600 bar and showed good agreement with the literature and theoretical calculations. In order to determine the impact of the addition of salt in a two-phase system of water/CO2, we have, at the same isotherms and pressures, measured diffusion coefficient for the system brine/CO2, where we have found that the addition of salt causes an increase in the diffusion rate in the isotherm of 25 °C, but not in the isotherm 45 °C.

Flax fibres (Linum ussitatissimum) belong to the group of natural cellulose fibres, and their qualities depend on the flax species, fibre/ steam parts' separation methods, pre-treatment, dyeing and finishing. When flax garments need to have top-colour fastness, reactive dyes are used for dyeing. Reactive dyes are simple to use and produce brilliant hues, with good wet-colour fastness due to the covalent bonds between the fibres and the dye. Pre-treatment and bleaching of flax fibres influences their hydrophilicity, physicalchemical, and dyeing properties. The kinetic and thermodynamic nature of a dyeing process also depends on the dye's chemical structure, various technological procedures, and the dyeing parameters. A common problem resulting from reactive dyeing is highly-colourated waste dye-baths that result from dye hydrolysis during the dyeing procedure. Therefore, the presentresearch focused on the influences of two dyeing processes (exhaustion and impregnation) and two reactive dye systems on dye hydrolysis during flax fabric dyeing. The obtained results indicated that the amount of hydrolysed and unbound dyes depends primarily on the type of dye and its chemical constitution, and also on selecting an appropriate dyeing process.

To so navadna breza, navadna lakota, navadni oreh in velika kopriva. Obarvane vzorce volnene preje smo barvnometrično ovrednotili z uporabo barvnega sistema CIE in jih grafično prikazali v CIE a*b* barvnem diagramu. The aim of the research was to study the possibility of using plant dyes for the dyeing of wool yarn, which would later be used for unique knitted and embroidered products. In order to achieve this goal, the extraction of dyes was performed using various plants that are widely present in our area, using mainly yellow, red, brown and green shades. These plants are birch tree, lady's bedstraw root, nut tree and big nettle. To attain a wider palette of colour shades, and superior dye exhaustion and fixation (for better colour fastness), different mordants (i.e. Al, Cu and Fe) were used during the extraction, the dyeing process or after the dyeing (i.e. after-treatment). The liquor ratio of the extraction (different initial dye concentrations) and pH of the extract varied as well. Wool samples were washed after the dyeing and tested for colour fastness during washing at temperature 40 °C. The dyed samples were colourimetrically evaluated using the CIE colour system and graphically presented in the CIE a*b* colour diagram.

In this article, we present findings on the characteristics of community of practice appearing in sustainable education in reference to preserving natural and cultural heritage. Our research originated in the poststructuralist theory of practice and in concepts of social learning. Freire’s learning theory was the basis for establishing the thesis that critical awareness is necessary for sustainable innovation. The empirical section of our research is based on an ethnographical collection of data in three different environments. We analysed cases of connected learning and activities, based both in local community and participants’ needs. All three cases join learning with innovative practices that develop social and environmental well-being. Our results reveal that innovative practices develop in connection with transformative learning: the dialogical linking of scientific and local behaviour and the identity of participants.

The aim of the presented work was to study the effects of TiO2–SiO2 nanoparticles on the hydrophilicity as well as colouration ability of polyester fabric during high-temperature disperse dyeing. Various analytical techniques were employed to characterize three TiO2–SiO2 dispersions with different SiO2 weight percent. In addition, one-bath exhaustion procedure was accomplished by combining TiO2 dispersions and three disperse dyes in two concentrations, respectively. Finally, the dyed/nano-upgraded samples were subjected to artificial UV light with the intention of establishing any undesired photo-fading behaviour of applied dyes on account of TiO2 presence. The results provided evidence of enhanced wettability at low SiO2 content, and on the other hand, pale depth of shade when the nanoTiO2-hybrides were attended, regarding the type of dye and its concentration. Moreover, UV irradiation significantly influenced the hue, brightness, chroma, and colour strength, although the higher SiO2 amount suppressed the photocatalytic activity of nanoTiO2 and thus, diminished the oxidative dye-fading.

The purpose of this study was to assess and compare the durability of TiO2-SiO2 coatings applied in three concentrations onto two lightweight cellulose-based fabrics diverse in the composition against two external factors, repeated washings and prolonged intensive UV irradiation, by observing the changes in surface morphology, investigation of optical properties, and identification of specific molecular vibrations. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) profiles and fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectra implied equal distribution of TiO2-SiO2 nanoparticles over the surfaces of both fabrics after exhaustion procedures, regarding the concentration of colloidal paste and the type of material used, followed by a slight reduction of nanoparticles after twenty washing cycles. Moreover, the newly gained, good to very good UV protective functionality proved the suitability of the employed procedure and the sufficient durability of the selected coatings. Additionally, UV irradiation mainly caused damages to the cotton. Cotton/polyester became yellower under UV, although the application of TiO2-SiO2 protected the material against yellowness.

Many conventions relating to the revitalization, safeguarding and management of cultural heritage require the inclusion of different actors in heritage projects, from the idea and planning stage of a project through its implementation and finally to evaluation of the results achieved. Based on recent studies, local residents (along with experts and decision-makers) have become one of the most important stakeholders in heritage management. However, the so-called integrated approach raises many questions as to how to implement theory in practice, how to coordinate the different interests and views of the actors involved, and how to achieve mutual partnerships, among others. This paper describes some of the informal occasions to build multi-level community networks which were practiced and analysed through different heritage projects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three industrially-prepared (via the sulphate synthesis process) and commercially-available nanoTiO 2 colloidal suspensions were coated on polyester fabric using the conventional pad-dry-cure procedure, in order to enhance fabric functionalities by imparting self-cleaning and UV-protection ability. Various characterization techniques, i.e. transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), and UV/Vis spectroscopy of the suspensions revealed the presence of anatase TiO 2 spherical-shaped nanoparticles of different crystallite sizes, as well as its prominent absorption capacity within the UV region. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was adopted to analyse the morphological structure of nanoTiO 2 -modified PES fabrics. Furthermore, the photocatalytic activity was investigated through the discolourations of red wine and red beet stains under two types of light sources, i.e. direct day light and artificial UV light, by means of a spectrophotometry. The UV-protective properties were also evaluated by calculating the ultraviolet protective factors of individual coated fabric. The obtained results show acceptable blocking properties against UV-rays, as well as the adequate self-cleaning abilities of TiO 2 -modified PES fabrics as governed by the types and concentrations of applied TiO 2 suspension.

The presented case study examined the possibility of using four commercially available compact textiles in small-scale column purifying system conducted in a continuous-flow operation as filters for colour, organic pollutants and salt reduction. Two wastewaters were prepared for the experimental purposes by combining chemically different dyestuffs, auxiliaries and chemicals in order to simulate dye-bath effluents from cotton (reactive) and wool (acid) dyeing, respectively. Treatment of the laboratory-prepared wastewaters was carried out in columns packed with alternating layers of sand and individual compact textile and, for comparison, in a column comprised merely of sand. It was found that both non-woven textiles, either made from polypropylene (PP) or bicomponent PP/polyethylene (PE) yarn with more complex structure and higher total void area, were more suitable for adsorption/filtration of colour and organic pollutants from dye-rich textile wastewaters in comparison to both woven fabrics. The main contribution of the research work presented here was to select and investigate a few commercially available textiles to study their filtration/adsorption potential for salt and total organic carbon (TOC) reduction during wastewater treatment. First, several physical–mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, thickness, weight, density and structural aspect of two woven (polyamide and polyester) and two nonwoven (polypropylene [PP] and PP/polyethylene [PE]) textiles, were determined. Also, the void amount and total void area percentage of textiles were measured, which influence the wastewater flow (clog) and filtration efficiency. With the intention of examining the adsorption ability of the selected textiles, kinetic experiments were carried out in shake-flasks using three commonly-used salts. Afterwards, small-scale column experiments were conducted in a continuous-flow operation to assess the TOC and salt reduction. It was found that both nonwoven textiles (either made from PP or...

In the research work presented here, a Plackett–Burman two-level partial factorial design was adopted as a multivariate strategy to determine the optimum UV/H2O2 process conditions for maximizing the treatment efficiency of dye-rich textile effluents. The influence of wastewater parameters, i.e. type and concentration of dye (C Dye), 100–300 mg/L; concentration of NaCl (C NaCl), 2.5–3.5 g/L; and concentration of urea (C Urea), 5–15 g/L; and the amount of NaOH (C NaOH), 1–2.4 mL/L; as well as the operational parameters, i.e. intensity of UV irradiation (I UV), 1.2–1.4 kW; the amount of H2O2 , 0.7–8.3 mL/L; and treatment time (t), 6–30 min; on the colour and the removal of organic pollutants was investigated. After determining seven variables, laboratory-scale experiments were conducted using two synthetically-prepared wastewaters solutions that were polluted with two structurally different reactive dyes and selected chemicals. The assessment of the UV/H2O2 pilot plant’s performance was by monitori...

No treatment is currently available for these blinding diseases, but promising new options-including gene therapy-are emerging. Arguably, the most prevalent retinal dystrophy is Stargardt disease. In each case, the specific combination of ABCA4 variants (> 900 identified to date) and modifying factors is virtually unique. METHODS AND FINDINGS: We used longitudinal data from early-onset Stargardt patients from the Netherlands (development cohort, n = 14) and the United Kingdom (external validation cohort, n = 18). The composite endpoint was derived from best-corrected visual acuity, fundus autofluorescence, and spectral-domain optical coherence tomography. Weighting optimization techniques excluded visual acuity from the composite endpoint. After optimization, the endpoint outperformed each univariable outcome, and showed an average progression of 0.41 degrees retinal eccentricity per year (95% confidence interval, 0.30-0.52). - Abstract
The purpose of this study was to methodically illustrate and highlight the crucial steps of stromal vascular fraction (SVF)-enriched fat grafting as a novel treatment of symptomatic end-neuromata of peripheral sensory nerves, and in this study, specifically of the superficial branch of the radial nerve (SBRN). Despite a multitude of existing treatments, persistent postoperative pain and common pain relapse are still very common, independent of the procedure assessed. The neuroma is microsurgically excised accordingly to standardized protocol. Instead of the relocation of the regenerating nerve stump in neighboring anatomical structures, such as muscle or bone, a fat graft is applied perifocally and acts as a mechanical barrier. In order to reduce the fat resorption rate and boost the regenerative potential of the graft, the highly concentrated SVF is integrated in the grafting. The SVF is isolated from subcutaneous fat by enzymatic and mechanic separation of the lipoaspirate by a specific commercial isolation system. The SVF-enriched fat graft provides both a mechanical barrier and various biological effects at the cellular level, including improving angiogenesis, inflammation, and fibrosis. Both mechanical and biologic effects help to reduce the disorganized axonal outgrowth of the nerve stump during nerve regeneration and hence prevent the recurrence of painful end-neuromata.

gradbena pogodba v italijanskem pravu ,Contract for Work ,gradba ,Structure ,udc:347.4/.5:69(043.2) ,Building Contract ,gradbena pogodba ,podjemna pogodba - Abstract
This thesis focuses on the main differences between the Slovenian and Italian regulation of the Building Contract concluded among private persons or private undertakings, as regulated in the Slovenian Code of Obligations and Italian Civilian Code. In both regulations the Building Contract is governed in a separate section of each national civil code and is a form of the Contract for Work. Both regulations are alike on all the important aspects and in both regulations, the Building Contract has the character of the obligation of success (result). In each regulation the parties of the contract are the Contractor and the Client, whereas the Contractor undertakes to carry out a certain (construction) work for the Client and the Client is obliged to pay the Contractor specific fee for his work. Italian Civil Code does not define deadline for the completion of the construction work as the essential component of the Building Contract (only price and construction works). According to the said Civil Code the payment must be made at least partially in money and the Building Contract can under certain circumstances be concluded also orally. The Slovenian Code of Obligations sets the written form as the binding form of the Building Contract and construction work, price and deadline as essential components. Slovenian Code of Obligations does not define the same essential components for the Contract for Work, neither does require written form. Based on this I assume that the Building Contract would be valid even if concluded only orally. Both regulations equivalently govern the rights and obligations of both parties, the Contractor and the Client, such as the Client’s right to execute his right to supervise the works and quality control of the materials, deviations from the initial construction plan, the Constructor’s responsibility for defects in a structure, urgent unforeseen works as well as regarding the stipulation of the fee and its changes. The said regulations differ for example in the length of periods during which the Client is obliged to notify the Contractor regarding the defects of the structure. Unlike the Slovenian Code of Obligations, the Italian Civil Code envisages the court as having an important role in replacing the lack of agreement between the parties (for example when parties did not agree on the urgent unforeseen works).

In recent years, the tourism industry is significantly growing on the internet. On the internet, tourists are interested in ratings and comments about tourist spots, which they want to visit and which were already rated and commented upon by other tourists. There are lots of online sources, which provide such ratings, therefore the overview of these ratings is problematic, since we have limited access to each individual source. In order to solve this problem within the thesis, we developed a prototype of a system, which enables a fast overview of ratings of all tourist spots in one place. To further simplify the overview, we categorized the tourist spots. The system is divided into two parts. The first part is a responsive web application for the presentation of data about tourist spots and sites. The second part is a control panel, through which we manage all the data, which are being shown in the main application. The main application also features a search engine to find locations and sites and a display of tourist spots on a map. In addition it offers a more detailed overview of changes of ratings over time. We tested the application on tourist spots from five larger Slovenian towns. Considering that in 25 % of cases the ratings from individual sources differed by more than one, such overview of ratings proved to be useful and meaningful.

PURPOSE: We describe the phenotypes associated with nullizigosity and nine splicing mutations in the ABCA4 gene. METHODS: The study included 19 patients with biallelic null mutations (Group A, nullizygous), 27 with splicing mutations in the homozygous state or in trans with a null mutation (Group B), and 20 with p.G1961E in trans with a null mutation (Group C, control). Ages at onset and visual acuities were determined from medical histories. Area of decreased autofluorescence within a 30° × 30° fundus autofluorescence (FAF) image was measured with the Region Finder (N = 58). Full-field electroretinography (ERG) was performed incorporating the International Society for Clinical Electrophysiology of Vision (ISCEV) standard (N = 40). RESULTS: For groups A to C, the median ages of onset were 6, 8, and 17, respectively. Kaplan Meier survival analysis estimated that 50% of patients reached visual acuity below 20/400 at the ages of 29, 48, and 66 years, respectively. The area of reduced FAF was estimated to increase by 1.5, 1.2, and 0.03 mm2 per year, respectively, and cone-rod dystrophy was present in 10/12, 13/15, and 0/13 of cases, respectively. Splicing mutation c.5714+5G>A was associated with a significantly milder phenotype in comparison with nullizygous patients for all parameters. CONCLUSIONS: Nullizygosity for ABCA4 is associated with early onset cone-rod dysfunction with rapid progression shown by enlargement of central atrophy on FAF, decline of ERG amplitudes with age, and a high risk of reaching legal blindness by the fourth decade. Most studied splicing mutations were associated with a similarly severe phenotype. Estimated rates of progression may facilitate further genotype-phenotype correlations and inform the design of treatment trials.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of secretome from bone marrow derived stem cells (BMSC) on acute lung rejection in rat lung allotransplantation model. Lung allotransplantation was performed from male BN donor to male Fisher F344 rats. Rat BMSC were grown in serum free condition and the supernatant bone marrow stem cells derived conditioned media (BMSC-cm) was collected. Recipients were instilled BMSC-cm intra tracheal every day for 5 days. Group A (n=5) received control media and low dose CsA (2.5 mg/kg bw ip) and group B (n=5) BMSC-cm and a low dose CsA, for 5 days post-transplant. Graft function was assessed by blood gas only from the graft, and tissue was sampled for histological grading of rejection and measurement of wet/dry ratio. All grafts in group B showed improved gas exchange 95.5±63.0 vs 42.7±18.07 mean PaO2 mmHg at day 5. Histological examination revealed moderate to severe rejection in all animals in group A (AIII B1) in contrast to improved histology in group B (IA B0). Moreover the wet/dry ratiowas also reduced in group B 7.18±0.4 compared to 10.4± 1.9 in group A. BMSC secretome is a promising novel method for localized cell based pharmotherapeutic approach for acute rejection in rat lung allograft model.
