Abstract

The temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity σ, the Hall coefficient R and the thermopower coefficient α in the solid solutions TlIn1-xYbxTe2 (0 ⩽ x ⩽ 0:10) have been investigated in the temperature range of 80-1000 K. The effective masses of electrons and holes have been determined on the basis of the kinetic parameters. It was established that starting from x =0.05 the solid solutions of TlIn1-xYbxTe2 belong to narrow-gap semiconductors having high values of the interaction matrix element. It is shown that the samples of TlIn1-xYbxTe2 in the region of 0:10 ⩾ x ⩾ 0:05 are promising materials for the energy converters operating at high temperatures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

We consider a gas-lift process averaged over time. It is assumed that the gas-liquid mixture formed in the mixing zone on the boundary of the annular space and the oil pool is delivered to the lift via impulsive systems. Since the gas-liquid mixture directed from the mixture zone to the exit of the well is not completely transferred, in order to get the maximum output of the well for the minimum initial volume of the gas, we assume that the volumes of gas-liquid mixture at the entrance and exit of the lift are identical, i.e., impose the conditions of periodicity. We propose an algorithm for the solution of this problem based on the method of finding extrema with the use of numerical quasilinearization and Euler procedures realized in the MATLAB package. The results are illustrated by an example showing that the proposed approach results in a significant increase in the output of the well. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Consideration was given to the problem of optimal control where the initial condition (boundary control) was assumed to be the control action, the object motion obeyed the nonlinear ordinary differential equation having a discontinuity within the interval of definition of the phase coordinates, and the optimized quadratic functional consisted also of the sum of squares of the initial and final conditions with corresponding negative and positive weight matrices. An algorithm to solve this problem of optimization with boundary control action based on the corresponding Euler-Lagrange equations was given. On the basis of a specific example from the petroleum industry, a computational algorithm was proposed to provide the maximal yield of the gaslift borehole cavities with the minimal supply of gas to the mouths of the borehole cavity. This approach enables a maximal delivery of the geological horizon with a sufficiently high speed. Abstract

We have studied both theoretically and experimentally the fundamental problems of light interaction with LC and corresponding forces and torque in LC. We are further developing the method of measurement of laser beams in the near field from the far field patterns that are distorted by propagation of the beam through LC. We have obtained important experimental results on the focusing of various beams into the nonlinear cell retrieval of that information from the nonlinear distortions.
