This article investigates the L2 English writing of junior secondary students in Spain by analysing their argumentative texts for clausal embedding in nominal groups, or noun phrases. The ability to pack information into nominal groups has been identified in L1 and ESL contexts as crucial to the development of written English, but it is still relatively neglected in EFL syllabuses. Using understandings from systemic functional linguistics (SFL), the students' argumentative texts were examined for their use of clausal embedding in nominal groups, and for the role these expanded nominal groups play in the texts. Student texts were found to use clausal embedding to facilitate presentation and organisation of ideas, but varied in their ability to exploit the potential of the nominal group expansion. Variety was found in both extent of embedding and in control of relevant language resources. It is suggested that teachers could help their students' writing development by focussing on this generally neglected language area, and some suggestions for such help are given.

Field practice is an important part of training geography research talents. However, traditional teaching methods may not adequately manage, share and implement instruction resources and thus may limit the instructor's ability to conduct field instruction. A possible answer is found in the rapid development of computer-assisted instruction ( CAI), a new teaching mode for the Information Age. A 'virtual field trip' is an amalgam of Internet and multimedia techniques with great potential for geography field instruction, as it can arouse students' enthusiasm and immerse them in learning. However, limited by available technology, virtual field trips have disadvantages in terms of content presentation, data organisation, and loss or inadequate representation of spatial information. To overcome the above shortcomings, a map-based, spatially correlated design method was proposed for a CAI system in geography. By integrating spatial information technology ( Geographic Information System, Global Positioning System, remote sensing, etc) and information delivery methods (web services, databases, etc), a WebGIS-based teaching assistant system for geography field practice ( TASGFP) was established, realising an effective spatial management scheme and forming a shared platform for instruction material. Its efficiency was verified through the actual application, although there remains room for improvement. Nevertheless, the TASGFP stands as an effective CAI tool in geography instruction. V diplomski nalogi je predstavljen sistem zemljiške administracije na Norveškem. Podanih je nekaj osnovnih podatkov o Norveški ter zgodovinsko ozadje zemljiškega katastra. Sledi opis organizacije in kompetenc geodetske uprave. Pri tem je poudarek tudi na vlogi občin in zasebnih geodetih pri vzdrževanju sistema zemljiške administracije. Občine in zasebni geodeti so namreč pomembni izvajalci geodetskih storitev tako v mestih kot na podeželju. Zaključni del naloge predstavlja delovanje njihove posebne institucije, tako imenovano komasacijsko sodišče, ki opravi veliko katastrskih storitev – pretežno so te storitve vezane na ruralna področja, toda pri zahtevnejših katastrskih preureditvah izvajajo storitve tudi na urbanih območjih. The thesis presents the land administration system in Norway. In the first part of the thesis, some basic information about Norway and the historical background of the land cadastre is given. It is followed by the presentation of organisation as well as of competences of the state surveying and mapping agency. A special emphasis is given to the role of municipalities and private surveyors in the land administration system. The local communities and private land surveyors are important for the land cadastre by implementing cadastre procedures in the rural as well as urban areas. The final part is dedicated to the special Norwegian institution within the land administration system, i.e. Land Consolidation Court, competent for cadastral services in particular in the rural areas but several complex cadastre land rearrangement are provided by the Land Consolidation Court also in the urban areas.

Syllabus, as one of the most important tools of teaching-learning, must contain necessary contents. A clearly designed, well-presented syllabus with the contents following the best practices in the field is a prerequisite for effective teaching. To analyze the contents of the syllabi of English language development courses of Bangladeshi university English departments, this study prepared a checklist of an ideal syllabus following the relevant literature and theories. The study has found that the contents in those syllabuses are presented in a haphazard way. They cannot the meet most of the criteria of an ideal syllabus in terms of contents. Most of them have only some learning topics or items as contents; and names of some books as materials. Regarding the other aspects like goals and objectives, assessment, rubric, teaching-learning methodologies, types of useful materials etc., the syllabuses present a very poor scenario. In the presentation and organisation, a linear fashion is found seemingly without any grading.

This article reflects the personal experiences of its author: a musician, teacher and current leader in the secondary independent sector. It provides an initial exploration of the link between leadership and musicianship, pivoting on the concept of performance and how specific socialised and embedded skills and experiences developed through musical performance resonate with notions of leadership in education. The intention is to raise awareness of the positive attributes of musicianship which are sometimes lost in the mist of artistic endeavour. Setting technical mastery aside, a raft of experiences, including presentation, formality, organisation, collaboration, a blend of aesthetic and academic enrichment and emotional sensitivity equip a capable musician with skills that transpose seamlessly into the role of leadership. Many of these experiences apply to other artistic fields within education and perhaps this debate will encourage those who appoint leaders to reconsider the attributes of artistic experiences. Bourdieu’s conceptual lens provides a theoretical foundation highlighting habitus and field as useful tools to filter leadership experience in a musical context.

Cet article propose une presentation de l’organisation et du fonctionnement de la medecine d’assurance et de securite sociale en Roumanie. Nous y decrivons le systeme de soins roumain, la structure du reseau de securite sociale, et les activites des differents acteurs de ce systeme. Le recit par Pietro Antonio Adami de sa propre scolarite chez les jesuites de Bologne a la fin du XVIIe siecle offre un exceptionnel exemple de la maniere dont une norme scolaire (ici la Ratio studiorum) peut etre vecue et interpretee du point de vue de l’eleve. Apres une presentation de l’organisation des etudes dans cette ville, l’auteur de l’article analyse les traits de cette scolarite qui ont le plus marque Adami : organisation minutieuse du temps, importance accordee aux pratiques devotionnelles, systeme de notation, de punition ou de recompense, hierarchisation et sociabilite des eleves. A travers ce recit fonde sur une experience individuelle, parait se dessiner en filigrane, a l’interieur du college, une veritable entreprise de civilisation des mœurs.

This chapter focuses on improved access to marine science data, enabling researchers to generate new information and knowledge products. The history of controlled vocabulary developments in marine sciences, from paper publications to the Semantic Web, is explored in detail. This history is being furthered through the publication of Linked Open Data, meaning: the publication of clearly identifiable entities; a simple, universal mechanism for retrieving resources; a generic graph-based data model; and publishing explicit relationships to other resources. Progress towards Linked Open Data for marine science is reported in this chapter. As shown by the Data-Information-Knowledge ecosystem, the approach of “small pieces of data loosely joined” provides presentation and organisation to data, which creates information. The use of query endpoints to integrate this information from multiple locations into a knowledge base, which required active collaboration between cooperative partners to truly generate new knowledge and to address emerging science questions, is described.

La traducción de prospectos medicamentosos supone hoy en día uno de los encargos de traducción científico-técnica más frecuentes, pero de indudable complejidad, debido a la heterogeneidad en la presentación y ordenación de sus apartados. Para ello se torna imprescindible el conocimiento de los rasgos macroestructurales (y textuales) que caracterizan a dichos prospectos. Por ello, llevamos a cabo un análisis macroestructural de un corpus bilingüe constituido por 40 prospectos medicamentosos (20 en lengua española y 20 en lengua inglesa). Los resultados del mencionado análisis revelan tangenciales divergencias macroestructurales en el género biomédico investigado en el par lingüístico antedicho. Consideramos que el conocimiento de estas divergencias macroestructurales de un género complejo como el prospecto contribuye a facilitar su traducción bidireccional: directa (inglés-español) y también inversa (españolinglés). Nowadays, patient information leaflets´ translation is one of the most frequent scientific-technical translation briefs. Nevertheless, it is an undoubtedly difficult task, derived from the lack of uniformity in the presentation and organisation of each section. In order to achieve this task, the knowledge macrostructural (and textual) features of this kind of leaflets becomes essential. That is the reason why we analysed the macrostructure of a bilingual corpus consisting of 40 patient information leaflets: 20 in Spanish language and 20 in English. Our analysis results show striking macrostructural divergences in the biomedical genre researched in the aforementioned linguistic couple. We suggest that the knowledge of the macrostructural differences of a complex text genre such as the patient information leaflet contributes to facilitating its bi-directional translation: direct (English-Spanish) and also reverse (Spanish-English).

In Imāmī legal theory, the akhbār of the Imams form one of the material sources of law, alongside the Qur'ān and Prophetic hadīths. The akhbār are presented in compendia, assembled by Shi'ite collectors in the fourth and fifth century AH/tenth and eleventh century CE, four of which subsequently came to be regarded as "canonical" in Imāmī law. In this essay, I examine the processes at work in the collation of these "canonical" akhbār collections. These processes, I argue, were influenced by an emerging juristic tradition in Imāmī Shi'ism. As Imāmī thinkers became increasingly concerned with fiqh and the elucidation of the Sharī'a, the collectors developed new techniques of selection, presentation and organisation. The akhbār collections became a material source upon which jurists could draw in their fiqh discussions, rather than the law itself. As an example of the processes at work in the collection and presentation of akhbār, I examine the issue of tayammum, ritual purification by sand rather than water.

Within the wider drive in higher education to promote students' use of information and communications technology (ICT) it is assumed that the Internet will be a key application. Popular conceptions of a ‘wired’ generation of students at ease with on-line learning persist through official literature and the media. From this basis, the present paper takes an empirical perspective in students' use of the Internet, via focus group interviews with 77 students in two UK universities, and explores the factors underlying their use (and non-use) of the Internet in university. Four crucial themes were identified, namely: (i) the ways in which students were introduced to using the Internet; (ii) operational problems encountered when using the Internet as an information resource; (iii) treatment of information retrieved from the Internet; (iv) the social element of learning in on-line environments. These factors are examined in detail and discussed in relation to the future presentation and organisation of students' Internet use in university settings.

Povzeli smo vlogo sejmov danes, načrtovanja na sejmu, predstavitev mentorske organizacije Celjski sejem d.d). Ugotovili smo katera orodja marketinškega komuniciranja so najpogosteje uporabljena., tako oglaševanje kot pospeševanje prodaje, odnosi z javnostmi kot tudi sponzoriranje. Podjetje za organizacijo MOS-a uporablja vsa orodja marketinškega komuniciranja .Celjski sejem oglašuje tako v strokovnih revijah, kot tudi na radiu ter televiziji in tudi na panojih. Pri pospeševanju prodaje so pomembni prav popusti, ki jih nudijo tako skupinam kot tudi razstavljavcem, da jim omogočijo nemoteno gibanje po razstavnem prostoru. International trade fair is barometer of activities and business successfulness and he is strenghtening recognizability of Celje and Slovenia.

Bechelor thesis Registration of the French gastronomy in the World heritage List by UNESCO consists of seven chapters. The first part puts mind to the presentation of organisation UNESCO from its foundation to organizational structure and proper activity. The important chapter is problem of the {\clq}qWorld heritage List``, which is dealed by this organisation and it approaches procedural aspects of registration and obligations which are accepted by states on theirs area where the registration entries are situated. The second part deals with French gastronomy in general and also its popularity in the world. The heart of thesis is the presentation of content and genesis of french government to achieve the registration of french gastronomy to {\clq}qIntangible heritage list`` and evaluation of chance of success of this project. The thesis contains the summary in French and a bilingual glossary as well.

Introduction The purpose of the study was to evaluate a recently introduced aesthetic restorative system in respect of: • Presentation and organisation of the package. • Its handling characteristics. • Its polishability. • Shade selection procedures and aesthetic outcome. Material and method The material, Esthet.X Micro Matrix system (Dents-ply), was evaluated by general dental practitioners from a clinical research group known as PEER (Product and Equipment Evaluation and Research). The evaluators were asked to use the material, following manufacturer's instructions, in a variety of cases. A questionnaire was designed specifically for this study and the questions were directed to both the dentists and their dental nurses. The results were analysed statistically and represented in visual analogue scales. Result The material was found to be useful and generally well received. Its use was thought to be technique sensitive but good to excellent results can be achieved. Areas where the evaluators thought the product could be improved were also discussed.

Un colloque organise le 16 mai 2006 au Cercle suedois de Paris par l’Institut francais de l’intelligence economique (IFIE) a reuni trois specialistes venus de Suede et autant de Francais. Leur analyse comparee de l’intelligence economique dans chacun des deux pays devait s’orienter dans plusieurs directions : histoire et emergence de l’IE, presentation et organisation de l’IE etatique, pratique dans les entreprises, et enseignement de l’intelligence economique.
