The research was carried out as part of a vast project to combat failure in university studies, the provision of guidance and mentoring for students entering the university for the first time, with a view to improving the services offered. First, it was meant to verify the content validity of a self-assessment questionnaire of one's own study habits (ASU 2021) built and validated more than twenty years ago. The questionnaire invites the student to answer not about what he feels he should do, but about what he actually does. Depending on the study difficulties highlighted by the test, laboratory meetings were arranged to plan orientation activities for students of the last two years of secondary school 2nd grade. For the activities were involved 284 students of the Degree Course in Primary Education in Palermo.

OBJECTIVES To assess community pharmacists' knowledge, attitude and practice towards oral health care in Asir region, Saudi Arabia. METHODS A prospective cross-sectional study was carried out using a self-administered structured questionnaire, targeting 254 community pharmacies across the Asir region. The questionnaire consisted of four domains: demographics, knowledge, attitudes and practice related to oral health care. Statistical analysis was performed using Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0. RESULTS Of the 254 pharmacists, 202 respondents completed the survey, yielding a response rate of 79.5%. Almost two-thirds (66%) of the community pharmacists exhibited good knowledge, 65% possessed a positive attitude, and 55% perceived a good practice towards oral health care. Community intravenous therapy is well-established in most regions of the UK. Although there are national good practice recommendations detailing the service provision of outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (OPAT), examples of extended service delivery of other therapies are limited. This article describes the development of a community IV therapy service through integration with acute and primary care teams. IV therapies delivered in addition to antimicrobials safely outside of the hospital setting are also discussed with scope for future areas of development explored. The benefits of care closer to home for patients during the global COVID-19 pandemic are examined, as well as the potential for widening the whole gamut of practice for already established NHS community services through the development of integrated working in a local care organisation.

In the 21st century, providing accessibility for all to all products and platforms including cultural and literary products is one of the most important fields of study embraced in translation and interpreting studies, media accessibility studies and others. With governments and international organs like the UN and EU working towards full accessibility, it falls to multidisciplinary teams to produce accessible versions of such products and furthermore to provide road maps, guidelines and examples of good practice. The following article outlines a project undertaken with these priorities and concerns. In response to requests from parents with D/deaf children and the wishes of the author N. Neydim, work began on the translation and the intermedial adaptation of the Turkish children’s books series Selim’in Maceralari (2011) in May of 2019. The project was completed and the video-books are currently available online. The initial aims of the project were, to raise awareness about children’s literature in Turkish among preschool and early primary school age Deaf children and to provide these children with the Turkish sign language video-book versions of the author’s works. The following article details the design and implementation of the project, the project cycle, profiles of the interpreting team, technical and design concerns, and options and decisions about the interpreting process to provide an example for similar endeavours and a platform for sharing insight on the issues inherent to the project.

Context-aware systems are becoming increasingly mainstream as more and more technology allows real-time collection of daily life data and it is more and more affordable to provide useful services to citizens in various situations of need. However, developers in this field are not well supported. Naturally we have inherited a number of methods and tools from past software engineering efforts to create previous computing systems. However the most recent generation of systems dominated by sensing supported context-awareness integrating a variety of data sources and with a higher expectation of personalized services delivered at the right time, place and in the right form, are not well supported. Developers need more guidance and support to pinpoint those valuable contexts and to work out ways of detecting them and activating the right services associated with these contexts. Our community has reported on various systems they created however not much is emerging in a way of a methodology, a standard, a transferable body of advice and guidance which can help teams next time they need to develop a new system. In this article we explain a couple of complementary methodologies which we have tried and tested through development of different context-aware projects. We argue these are of practical usefulness and provide an initial valid point of discussion for our community to create evolved versions of these which can be tested more widely to identify good practice in the area.

Este trabalho objetivou avaliar as condições higiênico-sanitárias de 54 propriedades rurais e o conhecimento de ordenhadores sobre as doenças transmitidas pelo leite para orientá-los sobre sua profilaxia. Em cada propriedade foi realizada uma inspeção visual e a aplicação de um questionário para identificação de pontos críticos a serem atacados em protocolos de Boas Práticas. Entre as propriedades avaliadas todas apresentaram falhas no aspecto higiênico-sanitário. Do total de entrevistados, 43% disseram que o consumo de leite pode causar doenças, mas desses, grande parte não soube citar o nome de duas (86,05%). Entre os que afirmaram que o consumo deste alimento pode acarretar agravos, 23,26% citaram a Brucelose seguido de alergia; 11,63%, intoxicação alimentar e diarreia, 6,98% respectivamente; Tuberculose e verminoses, 2,33% cada. Sobre as medidas preventivas, 63% informaram conhecê-las, no entanto, desse total, a maioria, 95,24%, não soube indicar três delas. Considerando que 70% dos entrevistados possuem baixa escolaridade, este fato pode contribuir para a não implementação de protocolos de profilaxia contribuindo assim para a produção de leite de má qualidade.

Socrative es una herramienta digital de evaluación formativa que permite al docente crear itinerarios de aprendizaje a través de preguntas, introducir feedback que aparezca inmediatamente al responder y conocer el progreso de los estudiantes. En este artículo se expone una experiencia docente para la enseñanza de contenidos relacionados con las actividades físicas en el medio natural (AFMN) en el grado en Ciencias de la Actividad Física y del Deporte. Se fomentó el aprendizaje y la autorregulación a través de cuatro formas de feedback. Se recogieron datos sobre la percepción de la herramienta por parte de 30 estudiantes que la utilizaron en varias ocasiones a lo largo de la asignatura. Se empleó el cuestionario sobre la experiencia de buena práctica de la Red de Evaluación Formativa y Compartida en Educación (REFYCE), basado en el cuestionario validado sobre metodología y evaluación en formación inicial de profesorado (Castejón Oliva, Santos Pastor, & Palacios Picos, 2015), junto a dos preguntas abiertas. Los resultados mostraron una gran satisfacción con esta actividad de aprendizaje, correlacionada con su valoración sobre la ayuda que recibieron de sus compañeros. Se presentan implicaciones pedagógicas relacionadas con la creación de grupos de alumnos para la realización de la actividad y sus distintos niveles, la dificultad, orden y naturaleza de las preguntas, el tipo de feedback introducido y el diseño de la tarea para un correcto andamiaje que fomente la autorregulación del aprendizaje. Abstract. Socrative is a formative assessment digital tool that allows the teacher to create learning itineraries through questions, introduce feedback that appears immediately when answering, and check the students' progress. This article presents a teaching experience for the instruction of contents related to physical activities in the natural environment in the degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences. Learning and self-regulation were encouraged through four forms of feedback. Data were collected on the perception of the tool by 30 students who used it on several occasions throughout the course. The questionnaire on good practice experience of the Spanish Network for Formative and Shared Evaluation in Education, based on the validated questionnaire on methodology and assessment in initial teacher training (Castejón Oliva et al., 2015), was used together with two open questions. The results showed high satisfaction with this learning activity, correlated with the appreciation of the assistance students received from their peers. Pedagogical implications are presented related to creating groups of students to carry out the activity and its different levels of performance, the difficulty, order and nature of the questions, the type of feedback introduced and the design of the task for a correct scaffolding that promotes self-regulated learning.

Background: With the rise in cases of Lassa fever in recent times in West Africa, the healthcare setting continues to pose significant risk especially among healthcare workers (HCWs) for diseases like Lassa fever that are transmitted via contact with blood and other body fluids. We therefore assessed the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of infection prevention and control (IPC) one year after an outbreak of nosocomial transmission of Lassa fever in the study hospital. Methodology: A cross-sectional study of HCWs was conducted in Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, a tertiary hospital designated for Lassa fever treatment in southeast Nigeria. A total of 631 HCWs selected by systematic random sampling were surveyed using self-administered questionnaire to determine the KAP of IPC. Data analysis was done with EPI INFO version 7.2 and Microsoft Excel 2016, and Chi square statistic was used to examine relationship between variables at 5% level of significance. Results: Only 287 (51.1%) of the 562 respondent HCWs had good knowledge of IPC, 442 (78.6%) had good attitude towards IPC, and 268 (47.7%) had good practice of IPC. Socio-demographic predictors of IPC knowledge included being a medical laboratory scientist (AOR=0.5; 95% CI=0.29-0.83; p=0.009), tertiary education level (AOR=7.0; 95% CI=1.11-44.60; p=0.038), and work experience of ≥ 7 years (AOR=2.3; 95% CI=1.47-3.57; p

For women with a singleton or a multiple pregnancy in situations where active neonatal care is appropriate, and for whom preterm birth is anticipated between 24 and 34 weeks of gestation, one course of prenatal corticosteroids should ideally be offered 18 to 72 h before preterm birth is expected to improve outcomes for the baby. However, if preterm birth is expected within 18 h, prenatal corticosteroids should still be administered. One course of corticosteroids includes two doses of betamethasone acetate/phosphate 12 mg IM 24 h apart, or two doses of dexamethasone phosphate 12 mg IM 24 h apart. In women in whom preterm birth is expected within 72 h and who have had one course of corticosteroids more than a week previously, one single additional course of prenatal corticosteroids could be given at risk of imminent delivery. Prenatal corticosteroids should not be offered routinely to women in whom late preterm birth between 34 and 36 weeks is anticipated. In addition, prenatal corticosteroids should not be given routinely before cesarean delivery at term. Neither should prenatal corticosteroids be given "just in case". Instead, prenatal steroid administration should be reserved for women for whom preterm birth is expected within no more than 7 days, based on the woman's symptoms or an accurate predictive test.

Empowering teachers as instructional designers strengthen the link between theory and good practice. The purpose of the research is to explore two teachers’ experiences about a professional development (PD) program. The PD includes a one academic year program with the aim of developing teachers’ instructional design knowledge and skills using Understanding by Design model as reference. Teachers’ instructional designs improved in terms of UbD design principles and they reported change in their attitudes and teaching practices after the fourth cycle. Continuous discipline-specific feedback and trust bond based on prolonged communication underlined as major elements of PD that facilitated teacher change.

BackgroundThrough the health extension package, Ethiopia had practiced infant and young child feeding. However, infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practice has been poor. Hence, in this study, the knowledge, attitude, and practice of the mothers/caregivers on infant and young child feeding were assessed.MethodsA cross-sectional study was carried out among 486 mothers/caregivers from Assosa Districts in the Assosa Zone of Benshangul Gumuz Region, Western Ethiopia. A semi-structured interviewer-administered questionnaire was used. To isolate independent predictors for good knowledge, good practice, and favorable attitude of the mothers/caregivers related to child feeding, multivariable logistic regression analyses were performed.ResultsOut of 486 study participants, 456 (93.8 %) of mothers had good knowledge, 432 (88.9 %) had a positive attitude, and 380 (78.2 %) mothers had good practice of IYCF practice recommendations. Furthermore, age of mothers, educational status of the mother, place of delivery, father’s educational status, father’s involvement & support, previous knowledge about IYCF, discussion with their husband about IYCF, and ANC follows up were significantly associated with mother’s knowledge on IYCF recommendation.ConclusionsOverall mothers had good knowledge and a positive attitude about IYCF practices. To support IYCF practices, behavior change communications intervention strategies should be introduced in mothers to bridge the gap between knowledge and practices.

The baby victim of a shock is not always diagnosed at the time of his first visit to the emergency room. The recommendation for good practice in situations of shaken baby syndrome, published in July 2017 by the French National Authority for Health, helps in the diagnosis and management of these infants by health care providers. When this diagnosis is made, the baby's care pathway is generally long and punctuated by multiple examinations.

The International Radiation Protection Association, IRPA, promotes the worldwide enhancement of professional competence, radiation protection (RP) culture and practice by providing benchmarks of good practice, as well as encouraging the application of the highest standards of professional conduct, skills and knowledge for the benefit of individuals and society. Enhancing public understanding of radiation and risk is highlighted by experiences from past emergencies, including the accident at Tokyo Electric Power Company's (TEPCO) Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in 2011 and the following post-disaster recovery, as one of the most important challenges, and this challenge is common across almost all public interfaces regarding radiation and risk. To this end IRPA has been continuing a Task Group activity for Public Understanding since 2013. After a series of workshops in various regions of the world, the IRPA draft guidance was developed and issued for consultation of the Associate Societies in 2019. Through these processes, IRPA received a lot of helpful comments and suggestions. IRPA finally published 'Practical Guidance for Engagement with the Public on Radiation and Risk' on the IRPA website in October 2020. The objective of the guidance is two-fold. Firstly, it is to enthuse all of us in our profession to become more active public advocates for RP. Secondly, it is to provide information, experiences and techniques to help us to become more effective and comfortable in this challenging task. This paper provides a key summary of the published IRPA guidance.

Nowdays, COVID 19 is still health problem in many countries in the world including Malaysia and Indonesia. The number of confirmed cases remains high. An effort to resolve the Covid 19 problem, both Indonesian and Malaysian governments had been taken preventive strategies to break the chain of transmission through the implementation of health protocol including using a mask, keeping a physical distance from another people at least 2 meters and washing hands as often as possible with running water. However in reality, there are many people had not implemented yet health protocol properly. This activity using cross sectional survey with the purpose of this activity was to analyze knowledge and behavior of community in facing COVID 19 in Malaysia and Indonesia. The results showed that in Medan, Indonesia. Out of 203 respondents, half of respondents (59.1%) had good knowledge regarding Covid 19, as much as 21.2% with fair knowledge and 19.7% had poor knowledge. While most of respondent had good practice (72.9%) and 27.9% had bad practice in applying health protocols to prevent the covid transmission. In Malaysia, out of 317 respondents aged 18 years and more, 78.9% of respondents had knowledge regarding symptoms of Covid 19, as much as 69.1% of respondents had knowledge regarding cause of the disease, 71.6% had knowledge about transmission of the disease. Most of them (96.3%) had good practice to preventive measures for Covid 19, only 6.3% of respondent had not implemented preventive measures. To prevent the transmission of covid 19 in future time, it is necessary to identify knowledge and behaviour of community and then followed by socialize regarding the disease to increased knowledge of community regarding the disease and apply new norm to prevent transmission of the disease.

Background: Cooperative learning plays a vital role to equip the nursing students with overall needed qualities and skills that suggest clear adoption and effective implementation from clinical nurse educators. Aim: To determine efficacy of instructional program on clinical nurse educators' implementation of cooperative learning at Faculty of Nursing. Subjects and method: A quasi experimental study design was used. Setting: Study was conducted at Faculty of Nursing, Tanta University including all seven academic nursing departments. Subjects: All available (n=80) clinical nurse educators included nursing demonstrators and assistant lecturers enrolled at Faculty of Nursing, Tanta University. Three tools were used; Tool I: Clinical nurse educators’ perception regarding cooperative learning implementation Questionnaire. Tool II: Knowledge questionnaire about cooperative learning implementation. Tool III: Cooperative learning implementation observational checklist. Results: Pre-instructional program, majority (83.7%) of clinical nurse educators had low perception level regarding cooperative learning implementation. Majority (88.7%) of clinical nurse educators had poor knowledge level preinstructional program, while post-instructional program high percent (77.5%) of them had good knowledge level and 96.0% of them showed good practice level. Conclusion: Postinstructional program most of clinical nurse educators had good knowledge level with significant improvement compared to pre-instructional program. Also, majority of them showed good practice level regarding implementation of cooperative learning in clinical sessions. Recommendations: Conduct in-service training programs and workshops for qualifying and encouraging clinical nurse educators for using cooperative learning in their clinical sessions

Summary Regenerative medicine has great potential. The pace of scientific advance is exciting and the medical opportunities for regeneration and repair may be transformative. However, concerns continue to grow, relating to problems caused both by unscrupulous private clinics offering unregulated therapies based on little or no evidence and by premature regulatory approval on the basis of insufficient scientific rationale and clinical evidence. An initiative by the InterAcademy Partnership convened experts worldwide to identify opportunities and challenges, with a focus on stem cells. This was designed to be inclusive and consensus outputs reflected the diversity of the global research population. Among issues addressed for supporting research and innovation while protecting patients were ethical assessment; pre-clinical and clinical research; regulatory authorization and medicines access; and engagement with patients, policy makers, and the public. The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) identified options for action for sharing good practice and building collaboration within the scientific community and with other stakeholders worldwide., Highlights • An inclusive IAP study examined global stem cell opportunities and challenges • Great potential leads to concerns for evidence base in unregulated clinics • Also concerns for premature regulatory approval without sufficient evidence • Recommendations for responsible research and innovation and collaborations, In this article, Fears and colleagues describe an inclusive global initiative by the InterAcademy Partnership examining stem cell opportunities and challenges.
