The aim of the study is to develop a scale named Classroom Life Perception Scale (CLPS) for determining the classroom life perceptions of the students toward lessons. The proposal scale, composed of 44 items, was applied to 2 study groups. The group of Exploratory Factor Analysis that aims to determine the psychometric properties especially the construct validity and reliability of CLPS consisted of 462 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The group of Confirmatory Factor Analysis that aims to find out whether the factor structure demonstrated by CLPS was confirmed or not consisted of 282 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. As a result of the analyses, it has been determined that the scale consists of 28 items and it has a structure composed of three factors. The study showed that CLPS is a valid and reliable tool. Using CLPS with other data collection tools on classroom life perceptions of students will contribute to literature.

This study aimed at investigating factors including gender, prior experience of hybrid learning, and computer literacy that affect students' attitudes toward hybrid learning with reference to different learning aspects. The study adopted a survey research methodology using a questionnaire and examined 879 students who had enrolled in hybrid English courses in a university. The finding revealed that all factors had an effect on students' attitudes toward hybrid learning. Gender had an effect on attitudes toward four learning aspects - study management, technology, online interaction, and online learning. Prior experience of hybrid learning had an effect on two learning aspects - technology and online learning; and computer literacy had an effect on attitudes toward every learning aspect and had the most effect on the use of technology. Based on the findings, this study provides guidelines and a useful information base for future course improvement.

This study presents the construction of the Emotional Development Questionnaire (CDE_9-13) and examines its psychometric properties. This questionnaire measures the emotional competence and its five dimensions--emotional awareness, emotional regulation, emotional autonomy, social competence, and life and well-being competence--of boys and girls from 9 to 13 years of age. Its construction followed the guidelines of the International Test Commission. The final version consists of 41 items. The total sample is 1905 boys and girls between the ages of 9 and 13, although partial samples have been used for specific analyses. Various studies have been carried out to demonstrate the reliability and validity of the instrument: the calculation of the reliability coefficient, a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and the correlational comparison of the CDE_9-13 with recognized measures of emotional intelligence, personality, adjustment difficulties, and self-esteem. Likewise, a regression study has been carried out to confirm the incremental validity. The CDE_9-13 is a theoretically well-founded questionnaire with appropriate psychometric characteristics. Therefore, it is considered an optimal tool to assess emotional competence in interventions aimed at promoting mental health and well-being.

Broadly understood, values represent orientation guidelines for daily action, thinking, and feeling. Thus, they affect teachers' everyday work and are among their professional competencies. While general values and some single profession-specific values of teachers (e.g., responsibility) have already been investigated empirically, the current study aims to cover a broader range of profession-specific values by developing and validating the Tübingen Inventory to Measure Teachers' Profession-Specific Value Orientations (TIVO), based on three independent studies with pre-service (Studies 1 and 2; N[subscript 1] = 334, N[subscript 2] = 239) and in-service teachers (N[subscript 3] = 308). The results demonstrate that the TIVO is appropriate to assess four profession-specific values in a second-order model: caring, justice, responsibility, and truthfulness as first-order factors, with fairness as a second-order factor loading on the latter three first-order factors. The results from preregistered experiments and confirmatory factor analysis provide consistent evidence for the construct validity of the TIVO.

Intercultural competence is a crucial element of foreign language education, yet the multifaceted nature of this construct makes it inherently difficult to assess. Although several tools for evaluating intercultural competence currently exist, research on their use in secondary school settings is scarce. This study reports on the development and validation of an instrument intended specifically for use in foreign language literature education. To this end, tangible learning objectives for intercultural literary competence were developed based on five dimensions of intercultural communicative competence (Byram, 1997) and six categories of literary competence (Witte, 2008). These objectives were re-formulated for implementation in a student questionnaire. Using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, the construct validity of the instrument was investigated among a sample of 164 secondary school students in the upper forms (aged 16-19) of pre-university education in the Netherlands. Although the results supported the hypothesized two second-order factor structure, the model fit indices were less favourable compared to the fit indices of an alternative five first-order factor model. Subsequently, correlation and summability analyses were performed to test the reliability of the instrument. Future research and implications are discussed.

The 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) is designed to detect a diagnosable psychiatric disorder and has demonstrated positive psychometric properties in adult populations. Despite these findings, the psychometric properties of the GHQ-12 have hardly been examined with regard to early childhood teachers. This study purposed to examine the factor structure of the GHQ-12 and to assess its psychometric properties vis-à-vis a sample of Korean early childhood teachers. An aggregate of 252 participants completed the Korean version of the GHQ-12 in tandem with other psychiatric measures, including the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). The resulting data were subjected to confirmatory factor analyses to compare the goodness-of-fit of the previously proposed models of the GHQ-12. The three-factor model comprising anhedonia/sleep disturbance, social performance and loss of confidence was found by the goodness-of-fit indices to excellently fit our study sample. The average variance extracted and all factor loadings exceeded the recommended threshold of 0.50; hence, convergent validity was established. The criterion posited by Fornell and Larcker verified the discriminant validity. The instrument evidenced superior reliability evinced by its adequate internal consistency and composite reliability. This evidence allows the assertion that the GHQ-12 may be deployed as a screening tool for the evaluation of general symptoms of psychiatric disorders in Korean early childhood teachers.

The purpose of this research is to develop a scale to determine the perceptions of teachers working in secondary schools related to school safety. Alongside the social actors, the elements involved in achieving the goals of educational activities are important actors in the solution and implementation of the school security problems. Therefore, the actors performed in this way and were want teachers' perception of safety education activities in schools is critical. The research includes a scale development study. Certain steps in the scale of development for secondary teacher's perceptions of school safety were monitored. Reliability and Validity Scale with work related to the development of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyzes were performed. Exploratory factor analysis of the obtained 40-item scale 54.233 discloses % of the total variance. Analyzes showed that reliability coefficients of scale factors ranged from 0.769 to 0.893. These values are enough to pass to the confirmatory factor analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis results showed that SSS is a valid tool to measure teachers' perceptions about school safety. Structures of this study, data collected through school safety scale set Cronbach's alpha was calculated in order to determine the internal consistency. Application in terms of behavior and School Safety "Although low compared to other dimensions of size with 0.61, scale and reliability coefficients ranged between 0.80 and 0.93 for the dimensions have been determined to be highly reliable. Implications for Research and Practice: With the help of the developed scale, relations between school safety perceptions and personal variables, organizational stress, school climate, use of security technologies, occupational burnout and organizational commitment can be examined. Effects of student perceptions of school safety on their academic success can be researched. Similar scales can be developed for parents, administrators, preschool, elementary school teachers, lecturers, and university students.

This article summarizes the exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis results from a sample of (N = 322) school counselors' multicultural competence in three Midwestern states. Findings indicate the factor analytic structure of the original Multicultural Counseling Inventory (MCI) can be revised to a parsimonious 15-item, three-factor model for school counselors. Implications suggest that research with the refined 15-item MCI in other areas and more diverse populations is warranted.

In the current study, the factor structure of an attitude scale was analyzed by using the two different item response theory models that allow modeling nonmonotonic item response curves. The current study utilized the two models to examine whether the two-factor solution of factor analysis may be caused by method effect, or by the failure of the analysis in describing and fitting the dataset because of the monotonicity assumption. This study was conducted on a dataset obtained from 355 undergraduate students who were studying at the Middle East Technical University. The data were obtained by carrying out the Attitude Scale Towards Foreign Languages as Medium of Instruction, which was developed by Kartal and Gülleroglu (2015). The fit of the scale items to the generalized graded unfolding model was examined based on the item response curves, item parameters, item fit statistics and fit graphics. For Mokken scaling, scalability coefficients were calculated, dimensionality analyzes were conducted by using the Automated Item Selection Procedure. The monotonicity assumption was investigated based on the rest-score group methods. The results of the current study revealed that items of the attitude scale fit to the unidimensional models that do not assume monotone increasing item response curves for all items, while the factor analysis suggested a two-factor solution for the data. Researchers are recommended to utilize statistical techniques that can identify any possible violation of the monotonicity assumption and model items having non-monotonic response curves to examine dimensionality of their data.

This work sets out to examine the validity and reliability of the Mathematical Modeling Attitude Scale (MMAS), a instrument measuring teachers' attitude towards mathematical modeling. A cross-sectional survey research was utilised to describe the validity and reliability of the MMAS. The population of the present study focused on Malaysian mathematics teacher in primary and secondary schools (N = 171) and this was achieved using convenience sampling. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and Rasch analysis were utilised in analysing the data in the present work. EFA revealed that the data from the teachers had a four-factor structure: constructivism, relevance and real-life, understanding and motivation and interest. The CFA confirmed that the model fit indices established the four-factor structure of the first- and second-order model. Although the Rasch analysis generally supported the finding of EFA and CFA, there was still room for improvement in terms of the rating scale and DIF criterion.

In exploratory factor analysis, although the researchers decide which items belong to which factors by considering statistical results, the decisions taken sometimes can be subjective in case of having items with similar factor loadings and complex factor structures. The aim of this study was to examine the validity of classifying items into dimensions with exploratory graph analysis (EGA), which has been used in determining the number of dimensions in recent years and machine learning methods. A Monte Carlo simulation was performed with a total number of 96 simulation conditions including average factor loadings, sample size, number of items per dimension, number of dimensions, and distribution of data. Percent correct and Kappa concordance values were used in the evaluation of the methods. When the findings obtained for different conditions were evaluated together, it was seen that the machine learning methods gave results comparable to those of EGA. Machine learning methods showed high performance in terms of percent correct values, especially in small and medium-sized samples. In all conditions where the average factor loading was .70, BayesNet, Naive Bayes, RandomForest, and RseslibKnn methods showed accurate classification performances above 80% like EGA method. BayesNet, Simple Logistic and RBFNetwork methods also demonstrated acceptable or high performance under many conditions. In general, Kappa concordance values also supported these results. The results revealed that machine learning methods can be used for similar conditions to examine whether the distribution of items across factors is done accurately or not.

The aim of this study is to adapt the Statistics Anxiety Scale (SAS) developed by Vigil-Colet et al. (2008) to Turkish. This study is expected to fill an important gap in the literature since no valid and reliable specific statistics anxiety scale developed or adapted in Turkish for undergraduate students in the literature is available. The sample consists of a total of 439 university students, 258 women and 181 men, studying at Düzce University. The construct validity of the Turkish form of SAS was examined by EFA and DFA. Also, for the criterion validity, a different statistics anxiety scale whose validity and reliability tested was used. As a result of EFA, a three-dimensional structure was obtained as in the structure of the original scale. According to the CFA results, which is the second analysis for construct validity, all fit index results of the model were at an acceptable level. Thus, the CFA results supported the three-factor structure obtained from EFA findings. As a result of the reliability analysis, the Cronbach's Alpha internal coefficients of the SAS and its subscales and, the Guttman and Spearman-Brown internal consistency coefficients of Split-Half Reliability methods were quite high and above the limit of 0.70. For item discrimination, items have good discrimination by obtaining all values above 0.30 lower limit in the results. When the results of the study are evaluated as a whole, the SAS form adapted to Turkish can be used as a guiding scale to measure the statistics anxiety of undergraduate students.

The instrument that assesses teachers' competence on AR methodology is limited. Thus, it is one of the issues concerning evaluating the effectiveness of a professional development program on designing AR projects. It is difficult to determine how much and what teachers have learned in a course or training. Thus, this cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate further the validity and reliability of the Teacher's Competence in Action Research Questionnaire, a seven-factor instrument previously proposed by Cortes, Pineda, and Geverola (2020). This self-report scale was not subjected to confirmatory factor analysis, had less sample size, and had homogenous participants. In the present study, 450 participants, both pre- and in-service teachers and from different teaching specializations, answered the survey. The data were analyzed using the confirmatory factor analysis method through the Maximum Likelihood approach. Four model fit indices recorded satisfactory results (CFI = 0.890; TLI = 0.884; RMSEA = 0.072; SRMR = 0.039), thus, supporting the seven-factor scale. The standardized factor loading, composite reliability, average variance extracted, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient/s of the entire scale and within subscales also provide evidence of the convergent validity and reliability of the scale. There may be an issue in the discriminant validity of the scale, but the conceptual distinctions of each factor as supported by theoretical foundation and arguments provide a principal reason for retaining all the items and factors.

In the current study, the appropriateness of the Mathematics Attitude Questionnaire administered to middle school 8th grade students in the TIMSS 2015 application to the exploratory structural equation and confirmatory factor analysis models was examined. The study was conducted on 6079 students making up the sample of Turkey. In the TIMSS 2015 application, the attitude items are presented under four headings called students' interest in mathematics, students' views on engaging teaching in mathematics lessons, students' self-confidence in mathematics, and students' value mathematics. As a result of the investigation of the factor structure of these items, the attitude questionnaire with its 5 factors and 35 items was accepted to be suitable for the Exploratory Structural Equation Model (ESEM). Moreover, invariance of the TIMSS 8th grade mathematics attitude questionnaire depending on gender was investigated at six stages as configural, weak (metric), strong (scalar), strict, variance-covariance, and latent mean invariance through ESEM. It was concluded that the questionnaire satisfied all the invariance conditions.

The purpose of this research is to examine measurement invariance of collaborative problem solving skills measured by PISA 2015 Xandar subtest for Singapore, Norway, and Turkey. The research was conducted with 2990 participants' data obtained from Turkey (1032), Norway (923), and Singapore (1035) on PISA 2015 collaborative problem solving study. In the first part of the study, exploratory factor analysis was performed to obtain the factor structure of the Xandar subtest. Then, the model data fit was checked by confirmatory factor analysis via "X[superscript 2]/df" (3.127), RMSEA (0.027), CFI (0.987) and TLI (0.979) values. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis was used in invariance analyses. The findings show that the collaborative problem solving model met only configural invariance across the countries and has not met the metric, scale, and strict invariance stages. The results show that meaningful comparisons cannot be made between the countries, because the factor loadings, variances, error variances, and covariances differ among countries.

The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool that measures mathematical visualization perceptions for mathematics teacher candidates. Therefore, the type of study is a survey research. Research was carried out with 462 (336 Female, 125 Male) mathematics teacher candidates from a university located in the Eastern Anatolia region Turkey in 2018-2019 spring season. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyzes were performed for the analysis of research data. In the process of development of Mathematical Visualization Perception Scale (MVPS); the preparation of the pool of material, testing of the validity of the scope and appearance, conducting the trial application, ensuring the construction validity, calculating the reliability and establishing the final scale were followed. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, a valid and reliable 5-point Likert-type scale consisting of 42 items, with 6 factors [Additional Drawing (AD), Spatial Thinking (ST), Direction Concept (DC), Relation with Daily Life (RDL), Transition from Algebra to Geometry (TAG) and Transition from Geometry to Algebra (TGA)] was created. Cronbach Alpha internal stability coefficient of these factors was calculated as 0.938. The factor structure of the scale was also confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. As a result of the findings obtained, it was suggested to the researchers who will study in the related field to evaluate mathematical visualization perceptions of mathematics teacher candidates by using related scale with different sample groups or different variables.

The Aurora-a test battery was applied to 520 students who were between the ages of 9 and 12 attending public and private schools in Istanbul to create the Turkish version of the Aurora-a Intelligence Test Battery (Aurora-a_TR), which was developed for children aged 9-12 years based on the Triarchic Intelligence Theory. The three sub-test scores that measured verbal intelligence in the original form were excluded from the analyses since they were not suitable for statistical analysis. The validity evidence of Aurora-a_TR test was obtained by Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Reliability Analyses. The analyses supported the three-factor Triarchic Intelligence Model with strong evidence, which also included the fourteen subtests. It was recommended in this study to re-apply Aurora-a_TR on a different sampling with the tests that were re-adapted into Turkish for 3 verbal content tests, which could not be tested in the present study.

The aim of the study is to develop an achievement test consisting of the questions in verbal intelligence games whose validity and reliability have been ensured and which are in accordance with the learning outcomes of the states of substance and knowing the properties of substance via the five senses taking place in the unit "Let's Know About Substance" in primary school 3rd grade science lesson. In this framework; the games of find with code, anagram, the deleted word, deficient word and word tour being from the verbal intelligence games have been used in the test. Scanning method from quantitative research methods has been used during the development process of the test. Question inventory has been formed by the researchers. Content validity of the test has been carried out by preparing table of specifications and reliability calculations of the test have been carried out upon the data attained from 187 primary school third grade students in different cities of Turkey with random sampling method for the purpose of having a pilot study. The reliability coefficient for Primary School Third Grade Science Lesson "Let's Know About Substance" Unit Verbal Games Achievement Test has been found as ([alpha]) 0.92. Cronbach Alpha The mean item difficulty and distinctiveness indexes of the test have been calculated with the conducted item analysis. Findings show that the developed achievement test is a valid and reliable test. An achievement test consisting of 15 items and three factors as coding games, circle games and word games, in which the distinctiveness of all questions is at sufficient level, which is at a difficulty level close to the average, whose mean difficulty index is at medium level, which is valid and whose points are highly reliable and which has been formed with verbal intelligence games has been developed within the direction of the aim of the study.

This paper introduces and empirically tests the model of tetragonal educational rationality that consists of four interrelated categories: hermeneutic, emancipatory, praxeological, and negational rationalities. Based on a large longitudinal study on primary and middle school students (total N = 1990), we investigated the psychometric properties of the Educational Rationalities Questionnaire (ERQ) and examined relevant correlates, antecedents and longitudinal consequences of the four rationalities. Confirmatory factor analysis corroborated the four-factor structure of the ERQ. Praxeological rationality was more prevalent than hermeneutic rationality, which was accepted more often than emancipatory and negational rationality. Structural equation modeling demonstrated that hermeneutic rationality was primarily driven by participants' academic self-concept in their native language, as well as extraversion, neuroticism, and valuing creativity. Emancipatory rationality was linked to academic self-concept, valuing creativity, and agreeableness, while praxeological rationality was predicted by extraversion, school achievement, and valuing creativity. Finally, negational rationality was inversely linked with several individual characteristics: academic self-concept, agreeableness, and school achievement. Longitudinal analyses demonstrated that negational rationality was associated with lower grades and more negative emotions during lessons, while hermeneutic rationality was associated with school grades improvement. Emancipatory rationality was related to positive emotions felt during classes, yet negatively with grades. We discuss potential reasons and consequences of these findings.

This study aims to review and provide new perspectives for academic goal orientation. The study introduces first chronological history of goal orientation and depicts how goal orientation evolved into a new construct in learning from the discussion on motivational factors. At first, this study isolates goal orientation from motivation and provides novel insights into goal orientation as a separated factor affecting learning. Then, this study provides analyses of the adaptation work of the academic goal orientation questionnaire into the Turkish language. The translated scale was applied to a sample of 729 undergraduate students, 376 (51.6%) of which were female and 353 (48.4%) of which were male students at a state university in Turkey. For the structure validity of the translated scale, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were carried out. Exploratory factor analysis yielded a three-factor structure of thirteen items accounting for 66.5% of the variance. Confirmatory factor analysis results suggested that the tested model of the translated scale yielded satisfactory goodness of fit. The total score of the translated academic goal orientation instrument is reliable (Cronbach's [alpha] = 0.84). The literature and the results from the application of the instrument suggest that the translated instrument offers valuable input into the curricula and syllabi in higher education in addition to providing insights to lecturers about the perceptions of the students towards the courses.

The aim of the study is to adapt Preschool Children's Science Motivation Scale (PCSMS) developed by Oppermann et al. into Turkish and conduct the validity and reliability analyses. This scale is considered important in terms of evaluating the science motivation of preschool children through the science concepts they are familiar with, based on their daily life experiences. The research data were obtained from 303 children attending preschool education in central districts of Adana. The findings of exploratory factor analysis, a two-factor structure named self-confidence and enjoyment consist of 28 items was determined in accordance with the original structure of the scale. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that this two-factor structure showed good fit. Subsequently, the study proceeded to reliability analyses and Cronbach's a and Composite Reliability values were calculated. In consequence of the study, it was seen that the original form of the scale and the goodness of fit and internal consistency values obtained within the scope of the adaptation form coincided. The findings of the study indicate that the Turkish version of the PCSMS is valid and reliable for Turkish preschoolers. This study aimed to adapt the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies for Children Scale (CERQ-k) developed by Garnefski et al. (2007) into Turkish, and to carry out validity and reliability studies of the Turkish version for children aged between 9-12. The research was carried out with 657 students attending a Middle School in Istanbul's Pendik district in 2018. As research instruments, Personal Information Form and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies for Children Scale were used to collect data. According to the result of the confirmatory factor analysis conducted to test the construct validity of the scale, it was concluded that the 9-factor structure was confirmed. In the reliability studies regarding the scale, it was found that the Cronbach's Alpha coefficients for the sub-dimensions were between 0.43 and 0.80 and the total correlation values for the items were between 0.16 and 0.66. It was found that the test-retest coefficient values of the sub-dimensions of the scale ranged from 0.36 to 0.67. Based on the findings obtained, it was concluded that the Turkish version of the Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies for Children Scale is valid and reliable for children between the ages of 9-12.

The purpose of this research is mainly to explore the validity and reliability of PERMA instruments to determine the nature of PERMA for Chinese university EFL students. A total of 309 Chinese university EFL students from 10 universities in Gansu province were investigated. Selected by cluster random sampling, the extracted data from the survey design underwent exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with the use of SPSS version 24 and AMOS version 23 to verify the factor structure of the PERMA. The results of EFA indicate similar structures from prior research and the present study. The CFA results testify that the PERMA instrument is satisfactory for Chinese university EFL students. Therefore, this research indicates that the PERMA of Chinese university EFL students also has a five-factor structure, which implies the perceived PERMA in the Chinese university EFL context to be adequately invariant and is an effective measurement tool supporting the research of Chinese university students' well-being. The findings highlight the significance of validating and confirming the PERMA structure and provide new insights into its application across different cultural contexts.

There has been considerable debate and interest regarding the factor structure of executive functioning (EF). Therefore, the aim of the current study was to delve into this issue differently, by investigating EF and other cognitive constructs, such as working memory capacity (WMC), relational integration, and divided attention, which may contribute to EF. Here, we examined whether it is possible to provide evidence for a definite model of EF containing the components of updating, shifting, and inhibition. For this purpose, 202 young adults completed a battery of EF, three WMC tests, three relational integration tests, and two divided attention tests. A confirmatory factor analysis on all the cognitive abilities produced a five-factor structure, which included one factor predominately containing shifting tasks, the next factor containing two updating tasks, the third one predominately representing WMC, the fourth factor consisting of relational integration and antisaccade tasks, and finally, the last factor consisting of the divided attention and stop signal tasks. Lastly, a subsequent hierarchical model supported a higher-order factor, thereby representing general cognitive ability.

This study aims to develop a measurement tool that can reveal the perceptions of teachers about the artistic sides of their profession. In the study, data were collected from two different groups for exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to determine the construct validity of the scale. There are 442 people in the first study group, consisting of preschool, primary, secondary and high school teachers, and 511 people in the second study group. As a result of EFA, it was determined that the scale had a structure with three factors and 31 items. The variance rate explained by these factors is 67.9%. This construct was validated by CFA. Goodness of fit indices calculated by CFA are as follows: X[superscript 2]/sd= 3.887; CFI=0.912; TLI=0.903, RMSEA=0.068; SRMR=0.072. The Cronbach's Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale is 0.96. As a result, a valid and reliable data collection tool has been developed that can give an idea about how teachers perceive the artistic sides of their profession.

Metacognition inventory supports increased awareness and self-control to improve student's academic success, including physics. However, there are limitations to revealing the Physics Metacognition Inventory (PMI), especially in Indonesia. This study aims to explore and evaluate the psychometric properties of PMI. This survey research has involved 479 students from three high schools in Indonesia. The psychometric properties of the I-PMI were evaluated using a Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Rasch Model approach. The results show that the Indonesian Physics Metacognition Inventory (I-PMI) is collected in 6 constructs from 26 items. The validity, reliability, and compatibility tests have also been analyzed with good results. The five rating scales used have adequate functionality. This research has also presented more comprehensive information about the Physics Metacognition Inventory in the context of Indonesian culture. This study has implications for using I-PMI to assess students' metacognition at the high school level in Indonesia and recommendations for future research.

Social participation represent one of the major outcomes of inclusive education. Students with additional support needs often encountered negative attitudes of social acceptance exhibited by their typically developing peers hindering their social participation in the educational context. This study explored the multicomponent structure of Portuguese children's attitudes toward their peers with disabilities using a modified short form of the Chedoke-McMaster Attitudes toward Children with Handicaps scale (CATCH). In particular, this study aimed to: (1) determine the factor structure of the CATCH; and (2) evaluate the measurement invariance across age and gender. To identify the CATCH factor structure, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted on data collected from 1,038 children aged 8-18 years. Analyses revealed that a modified short form of the CATCH consisting of a 20- item measure with a three-factor structure displayed acceptable fit and internal consistency indices. This model proved to be invariant across groups. The Portuguese-modified short form of the CATCH, in which cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions are represented, has acceptable psychometric properties and the potential to evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs designed to improve children's attitudes.

Although visual creativity in art affects all variables of the learning and teaching process, no measurement tool has been found in the Turkish literature regarding the level of students? visual creativity in art. In this study, a measurement tool was developed to measure visual creativity levels of primary school students in art and evidence regarding the construct validity and reliability of the scale was determined. The research was carried out with 381 primary school students in the 1st and 4th grades of primary school. 48.5% (185) of the students are female and 51.5% (196) of them are male. The scale, whose content validity was provided by expert opinions and literature review, was one-dimensional and had high construct validity based on confirmatory and exploratory factor analyzes. In addition, it was found that the Scale of Visual Creativity in Art had correlation with the perceived visual creativity scale and the scale developed had high criterion validity. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis results showed that the scale is structurally one-dimensional and had a high validity. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the one-dimensional form of the scale is 0.95. In addition, results of item-total correlations of the scale were tested and discussed.

The current study, guided by the cross-sectional survey method, assessed interface design quality, and its predictive ability on E-learners' post-adoption behavior in E-learning course environments. DeLone and McLean's Information Systems Success Model, Khan's E-learning Framework, and Bhattacherjee's Information System Continuance Model formed the current study's theoretical underpinning. Data for the study were collected from 232 E-learners in selected Ugandan higher learning institutions, using a 38-item self-administered questionnaire. Principal Components Analysis produced a four-factor structure of interface design quality that comprised of content interactivity, accessibility design, system navigation, and visual-aesthetics design, which were found to be valid and reliable using Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The Structural Equation Model fit indices revealed that the hypothesised model achieved adequate goodness-of-fit to the data. Regarding the structural relationships, the four factors were found to be statistically significant predictors of E-learners' satisfaction; and in-turn, satisfaction impacted learning agility. The results have clearly aligned with the study's theoretical framework, buttressing existing empirical data on interface designs and end-user post adoption with E-learning interventions. The current study is crucial for making evidence-based pedagogical and design decisions by key E-learning stakeholders for the successful implementation and continued use of digital learning solutions in higher education contexts.

The aim of this study is to adapt the "Perceived Physical Literacy Scale for Adolescents" into Turkish version. The research was designed with the descriptive survey model. Research data were obtained from a total of 585 participants aged between 12 and 19 years. The research was carried out with data obtained from four different study groups in 2019. In the study, language validity was performed with 20, Explanatory Factor Analysis (EFA) 218, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) 300, and reliability (test-retest) analysis with data from 47 participants. AFA and CFA were made to test the construct validity. Pearson Correlation Analysis was used to determine the relationship between factors. For item discrimination, item test correlation and 27% lower-upper group comparison were determined. Convergent and divergent validity analysis were made. Cronbach's Alpha and test-retest analysis were used within the scope of reliability analysis. As a result of EFA, a structure with 3 factors and 9 items was determined. This structure has been verified by CFA. One-dimensional and three-dimensional models were tested for the scale structure, and it was determined that the fit indices of the 3-dimensional pattern were more significant. A positive significant relationship was found between physical literacy, which is a measured feature in the scale, and its sub-dimensions. Reliability analysis results showed that the measuring tool can measure reliably. Descriptive analysis (mean, standard deviation) showed that the perceived physical literacy scale for adolescents is high in general and in its sub-dimensions. Analyzes conducted within the context of the construct validity of the measuring tool show that the perceived physical literacy scale for adolescents is a valid and reliable instrument that can measure. Measurement tool is important in determining the physical literacy of adolescents. Specialists working in the field of physical education and sports can provide the necessary support with appropriate intervention programs in line with the determinants of the physical literacy of adolescents.

In this study, the scale named "Survey of Online Reading Attitudes and Behaviours" developed by Putman (2014) was adapted to Turkish after obtaining the necessary permissions. It was concluded that the scale could be used in Turkish education to determine the attitudes and behaviours of middle school students towards online reading activities. It was observed that the predicted five-factor structure of the scale explained 43.47% of the total variance and maintained the 53 item structure in accordance with the original scale. The internal consistency coefficient is 0.83 for the whole scale; 0.78 for the effect dimension; 0.83 for the cognition dimension; 0.92 for the value dimension; it was calculated as .81 for the self regulation dimension and .789 for the anxiety dimension. The differences between the 27% lower and upper groups were examined in order to ensure the reliability procedures. In the analysis (t([subscript 742])=24.35, p<0.01), statistically significant differences were observed between the lower and upper groups. Subsequently, confirmatory factor analyzes were conducted to examine the compatibility with the original scale. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the fit indices of the scale were in the desired range (TLI=0.90; CFI=0.87, GFI=0.89, RMSEA=0.06). As a result of all the procedures performed for the scale, it was decided that the scale is a tool that can determine the attitudes and beliefs of middle school students towards online reading.

Measuring the quality of classroom-based interactive shared book reading within the early childhood classroom represents a specific dimension of teacher-child interactions that is of great interest to researchers. This interest reflects decades of research demonstrating the benefit of reading to young children in both the home and the classroom. The purpose of this validation study was to conduct a systematic investigation of the psychometric characteristics of a revised version of the Systematic Assessment of Book Reading (SABR-2.2), a measure that examines qualities of teacher talk through observation of classroom shared book reading. Validation of the SABR involved video-based coding of book-reading sessions in pre-k and Kindergarten classrooms (n = 286 teachers and 877 children). Teacher race/ethnicities included: Caucasian (64%), African American (27%), Latino (19%), American Indian/Alaska Native (1%), Asian (4%), and 4% reported their ethnicity as 'other'. Children's race/ethnicity was Caucasian (52.3%), African American (39.7%), Latino (30.6%), American Indian/Alaska Native (1.2%), Asian (5.3%), and 1.5% reported their ethnicity as 'other'. Using the SABR, we coded the frequency of 11 teacher behaviors that relied on explicitly defined behaviors and sets of keywords that indicated the presence of a behavior. Factor analyses yielded a single factor with item loadings between 0.41 and 0.86. Inter-rater reliability estimates were high (i.e., 95%-99%). Test-retest reliability revealed that the SABR factor scores were strongly correlated (r = 0.71) at Fall and Spring. We established concurrent validity with moderate relations with the ELLCO (rs = 0.31-0.50). Predictive validity of the SABR was investigated for 877 children tested at base-line and follow-up. Findings revealed a significant and small association between teachers' SABR scores and gains in children's vocabulary and print knowledge scores. Additional analyses were conducted to examine psychometrics by race/ethnicity.

This study reports on validation of a writing motivation survey and its relationship with a variety of indicators of academic performance of 566 undergraduate students drawn from six US postsecondary institutions. A writing motivation survey was used to capture students' writing goals, confidence, beliefs, and affect. Two research questions are addressed in the study: 1) What is the internal factor structure of the writing motivation survey completed by a broad range of college students? (2) Using this factor structure, how are the subconstructs of writing motivation associated with the outcomes variables of student performance and features of student writing? Our results confirmed a unidimensional structure for confidence and affect, a 3-factor structure for goals, and a 2-factor structure for beliefs. Low level but significant correlations were also identified between motivation and outcome performance measures, as well as between motivation and features of student writing. The study findings yield insights about the relationship between students' writing motivation, college success indicators, and writing domain knowledge. These findings suggest directions for pedagogical interventions targeting both motivation and writing feature use.

The investigation of epistemological beliefs has become important in both pre-service and in-service education of teachers. Different scales have been developed to determine teachers' epistemological beliefs. The same scale yields different results in different cultures especially due to the cultural aspects of education. Therefore, testing the scales in different cultures contributes to their use. Within this framework, the scale developed by Schommer and adapted to Turkish culture by Deryakulu and Büyüköztürk was adapted to Kosovo culture. In the study, whether the Albanian, Bosnian and Turkish versions of the scale support the same factor structure was tested by employing the quantitative research method. First, the Epistemological Belief Scale was translated into Albanian and Bosnian and expert opinion was received. The scale was applied to 200 teachers who serve in schools where education languages are Albanian, Bosnian and Turkish. The scale comprised 35 items and 3 factors. Linguistic equivalence was prioritized, as the study was carried out in Kosovo. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis was employed to confirm the suitability of the three-factor structure of the scale. The analyses were carried out separately for each language and revealed acceptable fit indices. Reliability analysis produced satisfactory results.

Although servant leadership is practiced in higher education (HE), most literature on servant leadership has utilized samples with diverse occupational backgrounds and applied single-level analytic approaches. Recognizing the association between servant leadership and community citizenship behavior, our study investigated the factorial validity of a well-developed multilevel servant leadership model, the SL-28, in the HE context. We grouped 1,864 lecturers from Malaysian institutions into 120 clusters, then estimated a seven-factor second-order servant leadership model at two levels using EQS. Results indicated that servant leadership in academic settings was a single-level five-factor second-order model rather than a hierarchical model. Of the seven hypothesized factors, empirical evidence was not found for two, "emotional healing" and "putting subordinates first." We also investigated the model's consistency with the principles of servant leadership for HE to provide more insight. Finally, practical, theoretical, and methodological implications of the findings and future areas of research are provided.

The Mindset Assessment Profile is a popular questionnaire purportedly designed to measure mindset--an individual's belief in whether intelligence is malleable or stable. Despite its widespread use, the questionnaire appears to assess an individual's need for cognition and goal orientation more than mindset. We assessed the reliability, construct validity, and factor structure of the Mindset Assessment Profile in a sample of 992 undergraduates. The reliability of the Mindset Assessment Profile was questionable ([alpha] = 0.63) and significantly lower than the reliability of the Implicit Theories of Intelligence Questionnaire ([alpha] = 0.94), an established measure of mindset. The Mindset Assessment Profile also lacked convergent and discriminant validity. Overall scores on the Mindset Assessment Profile correlated significantly more strongly with need for cognition than with mindset. Item-level analyses supported this finding: most items correlated weakly or not at all with mindset, and correlated significantly more strongly with need for cognition and learning goal orientation. Exploratory factor analysis indicated that three factors were underlying scores on the Mindset Assessment Profile: need for cognition, mindset, and performance goal orientation. Based on its questionable reliability and poor construct validity, we do not recommend that researchers and educators use the Mindset Assessment Profile to measure mindset.

The aim of this study was to develop and validate a psychometrically-sound instrument to assess students' perceptions about class cohesion. Two studies were conducted. In Study 1, four steps were established: (1) development of the Class Cohesion Questionnaire (CCQ); (2) item selection; (3) item compression; and (4) exploration of psychometric properties. In Study 2, participants were 1504 students from 21 primary and secondary schools. The aim was to confirm the psychometric properties and to create a short version of the instrument (CCQ-SF). In Study 1, the CCQ showed adequate content and construct validity, with a factorial structure of two first-order factors (task cohesion and social cohesion), and adequate internal consistency. In Study 2, the CCQ and CCQ-SF confirmed adequate factorial structure and reliability, discriminant and nomological validity, and showed invariance by sex and educational stage. The CCQ and the CCQ-SF are valid and reliable instruments to measure class cohesion in educational settings.

This study explores beginning teacher candidates' approaches to grading in relation to their broader conceptions of assessment through a survey research design. 248 Canadian teacher candidates responded to two scales: Teachers' Approaches to Grading (TAG) and Teachers' Conceptions of Assessment (TCOA). The results of factor analysis showed that teacher candidates approached grading in relation to four factors: (a) grade consequence, (b) holistic view of assessment, (c) holistic view of learners, and (d) classroom context. Their broad conceptions of assessment are related to three factors: (a) assessment as improvement and accountability, (b) assessment as irrelevant, and (c) assessment as inaccurate. The results of factor structures and intercorrelations within and across the TAG and TCOA scales showed that these beginning teacher candidates approached grading with variable complexity and attention to holistic view of assessment and of learners with an aim to support student learning.

Emotions play an essential role in educational processes. Previous research has mainly dealt with achievement emotions which are experienced in specific situations such as exams or learning situations in mathematics (e.g. enjoyment or anxiety). Some achievement emotions are rather experienced in social contexts in mathematics and are closely related to the self. These emotions such as shame are assumed to be also relevant for mathematics achievement. However, a reliable and valid instrument is missing to measure shame in mathematics. Validity evidence for the newly developed Shame in Mathematics Questionnaire (SHAME-Q) was collected in three studies with pre-service primary teachers. Study 1 investigated the content validity by conducting a systematic expert panel study. Study 2 and study 3 examined with two different samples the factorial structure and relations to other constructs in terms of discriminant (enjoyment) and convergent (anxiety) validity as well as to pre-service teachers' grade in school mathematics, their intention to teach mathematics at school, and gender. The data supported strongly the validity assumptions as well as reliability and parsimony of the instrument. Psychometric limitations of SHAME-Q and applicability of the questionnaire are discussed.

Percentage of uncontaminated correlations (PUC), explained common variance (ECV), and omega hierarchical ([omega]H) have been used to assess the degree to which a scale is essentially unidimensional and to predict structural coefficient bias when a unidimensional measurement model is fit to multidimensional data. The usefulness of these indices has been investigated in the context of bifactor models with balanced structures. This study extends the examination by focusing on bifactor models with unbalanced structures. The maximum and minimum PUC values given the total number of items and factors were derived. The usefulness of PUC, ECV, and [omega]H in predicting structural coefficient bias was examined under a variety of structural regression models with bifactor measurement components. Results indicated that the performance of these indices in predicting structural coefficient bias depended on whether the bifactor measurement model had a balanced or unbalanced structure. PUC failed to predict structural coefficient bias when the bifactor model had an unbalanced structure. ECV performed reasonably well, but worse than [omega]H.

At present, there are no brief, freely-available, informant-report measures that evaluate key challenging behaviors relevant to youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other developmental disabilities (DD). This paper describes the development, refinement, and initial psychometric evaluation of a new 18-item measure, the Open-Source Challenging Behavior Scale (OS-CBS). In a large sample (n = 2004, 169 with ASD, ages 2-17), results of psychometric analyses indicated a clear factor structure (property destruction, aggression, elopement, conduct problems, and self-injury and a general factor with high loadings from all items) based on exploratory structural equation modeling, good scale reliability ([alpha] = 0.66-0.83 for subscales, [alpha] = 0.91 total scale), measurement invariance across demographics, and good construct validity. The OS-CBS is a psychometrically-sound instrument for screening and monitoring intervention progress.

This paper presents the development and psychometric properties of an interpersonal problem-solving inventory for Vietnamese elementary school students (IPSI). The IPSI consists of five subscales: Positive problem-solving behavior; Negative problem-solving behavior; Rational problem-solving behavior; Impulsive behavior; and Avoidance behavior. The scale was administered to a total sample that consists of 730 Vietnamese fifth grade students (age 10-14, M = 10.70, SD = 0.56). Multiple psychometric analyses were utilized including classical test theory (CTT), exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Reliability of IPSI was reported by calculating internal consistency. Findings showed that the IPSI has adequate internal consistency (Cronbach's [alpha] = 0.90; McDonald's [omega] = 0.82). The EFA findings suggested that the IPSI has two-factor structure. The CFA findings indicated that the IPSI has the theory-driven five-factor structure that has the adequate fitness indices (X[superscript 2]/df = 1.369, p < 0.001; GFI: 0.930; TLI: 0.926; CFI: 0.871; RMSEA: 0.032; SRMR: 0.046). These findings suggest that the IPSI is a well-functioning scale with good psychometric properties. Recommendations and weak points of the scale are discussed. Future research and possible improvements are proposed.

Social support perceived by inclusive education teachers is seldom empirically investigated, and there are few tools to measure it. This research aims to develop a valid instrument to investigate inclusive education teachers' social support and to determine the current situation of such support in China. A total of 216 and 367 valid questionnaires from teachers in elementary and junior high inclusive education schools were collected in study 1 and study 2, respectively. The findings indicated that (1) Chinese inclusive education teachers' social support was represented by a four-factor model with high reliability and validity that included professional, emotional, administrative and material support; (2) teachers received mostly emotional support, followed by administrative support, material support, and then professional support; and (3) demographic variables such as age, length of service, academic qualification, training time, and establishment of a school resource room had significant influences on teachers' perceived social support. The study contributes to developing a conceptual framework and measurement instrument for Chinese inclusive education teachers' social support. It provides practical implications for the improvement of current Chinese teacher education programmes and the development of high-quality inclusive education.

The objective was to verify the construct validity and test-retest reliability of the Test of Advanced Movement Skills (TAMS) with an innovative dual-outcome scoring system. Three statistical approaches--confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM), and item response theory analysis (IRT)--were applied to the data collected from 88 participants aged 9-12 years. Furthermore, 10 of them were randomly selected to examine the test-retest reliability by calculating intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). The synthesis of findings from CFA, ESEM, and IRT analyses provides supportive evidence that two- and bi-factor structures demonstrated better model-data fit compared to the one-factor structure. An excellent level of test-retest reliability was confirmed in the TAMS (ICC = 0.96) and anthropometric instruments (ICC = 0.986-0.998). We conclude that a composite score derived from the TAMS is sufficient and practical to measure one's general competence in advanced movement skills during late childhood.

This study aims to validate a data collection tool's psychometric properties to explore whether business management research's relevance is a high-order construct made up of its perceived interest and perceived relevance. The authors conducted a confirmatory factor analysis to validate a two-factor scale. The sample was composed of 148 MBA students from a Peruvian business school. Results showed the appropriate levels of validity and reliability and confirmed the usefulness of this data set for exploring the relationship between perceived interest and relevance. Businesses and schools can replicate the validated tool for reviewing their curricula and teaching practices, exploring the gap between business and management research results and advancing managers' research literacy and evidence-based practice in business education and training.

Purpose: The present study aimed to analyze the entrepreneurial resilience of small and medium-sized businesses among rural women. Design/Methodology: The study was conducted using a survey, and 269 individuals were selected through stratified random sampling. This research was conducted in three stages. First, the Lifespan Resilience Scale-Business was used to identify the factor structure of women's business resilience. Second, the resilience of women entrepreneurs' businesses was analyzed. And third, path analysis was carried out to identify the factors affecting the resilience of women's businesses. Findings: The business resilience of rural entrepreneur women was determined by the following components: external resources, internal resources, innovation, opportunity and adaptation, risk management, and family support. The results of the causal model indicated that the variables of marketing strategy, marketing mix, marketing methods, business communication, business plan preparation skills and supporting policies are effective factors in improving business resilience. Theoretical Implications: To improve the entrepreneurial resilience of rural women, it is necessary to identify the influential factors and their indicators to reduce entrepreneurial failure, analyze the factors that foster resilient behaviors in rural entrepreneurship, and provide contexts that are resistant against changes for women. Practical implications: Holding companies that specialize in agricultural development in Iran play an important role in improving women's entrepreneurial resilience. These companies could empower rural women to overcome barriers and apply new methods through educational and extension programs that are appropriate to changes in technology and the market. Originality/value: This study presents the Lifespan Resilience Scale-Business as a native model for measuring the resilience of rural women's businesses in Fars province of Iran.

Expectancy-value theory mostly focuses on how expectancy and value beliefs are associated with academic achievement. Both expectancy and value beliefs are multidimensional and can be further decomposed into general and specific factors. However, few studies have explored the associations of these general and specific factors with academic achievement and learning strategy use. This study aimed to investigate the bifactor structure of expectancy and value beliefs and investigate the linkages between general and specific expectancy-value factors and mathematics achievement and learning strategy use. Based on the expectancy and value dimensions measured by the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ), bifactor models were used to analyse the data collected from 563 senior secondary school students in China. Three key findings emerged: (1) both expectancy and value beliefs could be disentangled into general and specific factors; (2) general factors were significantly associated with mathematics achievement and learning strategy use; and (3) the specific factors were positively associated with mathematics learning strategy use but not mathematics achievement.
