This research aims to make a bibliometric analysis of action research in the field of educational administration published in scientific journals in the Scopus database. The data in the study were obtained by scanning the Scopus database. The information including the number of authors, year of publication, number of citations, the source from which the article was published was analyzed and interpreted. In the research, 98 publications and 15 sources published between 1968 and 2020 were examined. The most frequently cited names in the articles and the sources that published the most were determined. The majority of the articles are single-authored, and it has been found that the number of citations has increased with the number of articles recently. It has been determined that there are very few action researches in educational administration and they are mostly published in western countries. Activism, professional development, school improvement, and student engagement are motor themes.

The primary objective of the Remote Mentoring of Undergraduate Research Students (ReMentURS) workshop series is to design a remotely available professional development training that will provide rigorous research concept and skills introduction to incoming undergraduate research students. This pilot run eight-week remote learning workshop series includes digital presentations, informational videos, virtual demonstrations, and aligned comprehension checks to foster student mindsets towards becoming independent research scientists. Preliminary assessment of the of ReMentURS program reveals that participants self-report gaining a variety of skills through the series and are likely to use the content in their future course and research laboratories. ReMentURS material can be shared with any undergraduate student who is interested in joining a research group to familiarize them with basic research techniques. Student learning gains will continue to be evaluated throughout the series and this initial assessment will be used towards the betterment of the future workshops.

Reviewing the literature is an important part of academic work, as it helps readers see what has come before, what has and has not worked, and situates the author's place in the ongoing discussion. Accepting this view, extensive reading literature often points to Day and Bamford (1988) as identifying Kelly (1969) as crediting Palmer (1921) as the first to apply the term extensive reading (ER) in L2 pedagogy. At the time of Day and Bamford and Kelly's publications, a reference to Palmer was a worthy seminal identification as literature searches were not aided by today's more powerful electronic databases. Utilizing more modern search tools (Archive.org, Google Books, JSTOR, Project Gutenberg, Google Books) and the archival works they provide, we extend the discussion by offering a more complete history of the term for researchers to draw from. Specifically, we (a) explore early L1 uses of the term and (b) point to three new L2 seminal benchmarks: the earliest (1) use of the term (2) intensive/extensive distinction; and (3) definition found to date. We then (c) continue our discussion up through today's modern definitions of the term. Directions for future studies are also discussed.

Critical Discourse Studies (CDS) has increasingly served to examine the content of textbooks. Given momentum by critical social inquiry pertaining to textbook content, this study looks at peer-reviewed literature drawn from three scholarly databases (JSTOR, ERIC, and SAGE; cross-referenced with searches on Google Scholar) that use CDS for those investigations. Reviewing the selected literature, this study asks: What are the most represented approaches of CDS used for examining textbooks? What contextual themes appear to draw the most attention? In what fields of study are the examined textbooks situated? How do these emergent themes appear to be connected? What areas of research appear lacking in the collected literature? The findings illustrate that, while the methods of CDS and types of textbooks examined are diverse, the lion's share of contextual attention and critical utility appears to be given to foundational approaches to CDS and textbooks used for English language teaching. Further research directions on textbooks from a CDS perspective are discussed.

The system for measuring the quality of education (SIMCE) is a standardised evaluation that provides results on the academic achievement of Chilean students, while also including indicators of personal and social development. Through a mixed analysis of variables extracted from these indicators, the purpose of this research study is to build a measurement system to assess the favourable and unfavourable emotions of students who took the test in 2018. To contextualise this work, a systematic literature review was carried out synthetising scientific evidence concerning emotions and the interactional context of the classroom. Through a methodological transposition, a qualitative theoretical model epistemologically grounded on radical constructivism was validated quantitatively. This transposition resulted in the construction of three indices of favourable and unfavourable emotions: motivation arising from interaction, exclusionary interaction and interactional context. The results show favourable and unfavourable emotions for learning are a variable in the SIMCE indicators that can be used to understand student academic achievement, confirming existing empirical evidence regarding the explanatory and predictive value of emotions in students' performance. These results highlight the potential benefits of expanding on this type of research to improve the quality of Chilean education based on the resources already available in the current evaluation system.

This article systematically reviews 35 empirical articles on the topic of networks and career advancement into academic leadership positions. Our objectives in this systematic review are to clarify: (1) the functions that networks fulfil; (2) the outcomes of these functions in terms of career advancement; and (3) whether networks are likely to result in more or less career advancement for women compared to men. Four databases were searched using the PRISMA (preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses) approach to select eligible studies published between 1990 and 2019. We distinguish three different functions that networks may fulfil: operational, developmental and strategic. Mixed results are found for the operational and developmental network functions, while the results suggest that the strategic function contributes to career advancement, particularly for men. The reason for this can be found in the masculine academic context. Our findings implicate that a solution involving equal network opportunities needs to be taken up by the academic community as a whole. To further develop the research field, we call for: (1) more consistent conceptualisation; (2) more attention to the multiple functions of networks and networking behaviour; and (3) more advanced study designs.

Dyslexia is one of the most studied learning disorders. Despite this, its biological basis and main causes are still not fully understood. Electroencephalography (EEG) could be a powerful tool in identifying the underlying mechanisms, but knowledge of the EEG correlates of developmental dyslexia (DD) remains elusive. We aimed to systematically review the evidence on EEG correlates of DD and establish their quality. In July 2021, we carried out an online search of the PubMed and Scopus databases to identify published articles on EEG correlates in children with dyslexia aged 6 to 12 years without comorbidities. We follow the PRISMA guidelines and assess the quality using the Appraisal Tool questionnaire. Our final analysis included 49 studies (14% high quality, 63% medium, 20% low, and 2% very low). Studies differed greatly in methodology, making a summary of their results challenging. However, some points came to light. Even at rest, children with dyslexia and children in the control group exhibited differences in several EEG measures, particularly in theta and alpha frequencies; these frequencies appear to be associated with learning performance. During reading-related tasks, the differences between dyslexic and control children seem more localized in the left temporoparietal sites. The EEG activity of children with dyslexia and children in the control group differed in many aspects, both at rest and during reading-related tasks. Our data are compatible with neuroimaging studies in the same diagnostic group and expand the literature by offering new insights into functional significance.

Through a meta-analysis, this study examines how effective particulate nature of matter (PNM)-based intervention studies are at improving academic performance. Well-known databases (e.g., ERIC, Springer Link, Taylor & Francis, and ScienceDirect) were used to look for the PNM-based intervention studies via specific keyword patterns. Also, a manual search of related journals and dissertations was conducted to find any missing papers. Subsequently, this meta-analysis included 66 papers (44 dissertations, 21 articles, and one proceeding) published from 1992 to 2022. All statistical data from the papers were initially inserted into an Excel sheet and then imported into comprehensive meta-analysis (CMA) statistics software to calculate Hedges' g values. The findings indicated that the overall effect-size for the random-effects model was 0.90, which means that the PNM-based intervention studies have a large effect for academic performance. Furthermore, it was revealed that moderator variables, namely educational level and type of intervention, positively affected participants' PNM-based academic performance (p = 0.05). In light of the findings, it can be concluded that the PNM-based intervention studies are effective at improving the participants' academic performance. Moreover, given the findings regarding educational level, it can be deduced that K-8 students are able to learn the fundamental features or dimensions of the PNM. Since the meta-analysis includes few extreme values, further research should be undertaken to test the effectiveness of the intervention types on academic performance. Furthermore, the current study excluded a notable number of papers because they lacked sufficient data; therefore, science researchers should take care to include sufficient data or effect-size value for their papers to facilitate dissemination, generalization and comparison of their results.

Purpose: By reviewing policies on higher education for international students, this article aims to investigate the change of social-historical context, policy issue, and policy solution and provide implications for policymaking. Design/Approach/Methods: The study used qualitative text analysis. One hundred and twelve policy papers were collected from the PKULAW database and the Ministry of Education official website. Deductive categories were constructed under themes like social-historical context, policy issue, and policy solution separately. Findings: Four stages have emerged from the text analysis. The policy focus witnessed a shift from openness to expansion and then to quality. The policies made by the central government changed a lot accordingly. China is increasingly active in higher education internationalization and eager to make the education for international students an attractive brand with high quality. To realize this target, policies should be made based on different types of international students. Additionally, it is necessary that policies provide detailed guidance and accelerate capacity building in all majors. Originality/Value: This study contributes to existing knowledge of higher education for international students in China by providing qualitative policy text analysis, and the insights gained from this study may be of assistance to policymaking in the future.

Many traditional Information Systems (IS) programs are either redesigning current courses to incorporate business/data analytics or expanding curricular offerings to include business /data analytics; our IS program chose the former route to meet the demand (from employers) for business/data analytics. In that transition, a traditional systems analysis and design (SA&D) course was redesigned to focus on the procedures and skills needed to perform business/data analytics; this required changes to the focal topical areas. In 2017-18, curricular changes transitioned a traditionally focused database systems analysis and design course to incorporate business/data analytic skills. This paper focuses on the course redesign and the new business/data analytic topics, activities, and technologies; we highlight the important shifts created to the topical areas of this course. The paper emphasizes the rationale and student outcomes generated.

The article aims to examine theoretical and practical relationships between academic excellence and competitiveness in university education. The survey was conducted among university employees. Evaluation of each factor was carried out using the five-point Likert scale. The highest and statistically significant assessment was received for the following factors: the growth of graduates' salaries (4.08, 3.89, 4.16), the number of foreign students (4.01, 4.44, 4.56), the amount of extra-budgetary income of universities from various types of activities (4.12, 4.27, 4.56), and the number of publications in indexed databases (3.69, 4.63, 3.81). Several factors with the closest assessments among all the respondents were identified. Besides, very low estimates of the quality of state participation in maintaining competitiveness and academic excellence in universities were revealed. The paper unveiled how the general theoretical correlation of competitiveness and academic excellence is realized in the practice of educational systems' public administration. Furthermore, the study disclosed the indicators used to assess universities' activities in the context of competitiveness and academic excellence. The author believes that the use of competitiveness category in describing the purpose of the academic excellence program is justified. The study identified several significant factors in improving academic performance and competitiveness that affect the position of universities in Russia and developing countries in international rankings. The example of the Russian Academic Excellence Project demonstrated that the provision by the authorities of an artificial competitive advantage to specific universities negatively affects the level of competitiveness of other Russian universities.

STEM education is applied to raise individuals having 21st-century skills based on the integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This paper aims to present the overall effect of STEM education on students' academic achievement by analyzing 64 research findings obtained from 56 quantitative studies published between 2014 and 2021. Relevant studies were identified from the databases of scholarly publications such as ERIC, Web of Science, EBSCOHost, Google Scholar, SCOPUS, ProQuest, CHE Thesis Center. The sample was then meta-analytically examined using the CMA program. Education level, duration of the application, disciplines, and publication type were determined as moderator variables. The results showed that the effect of STEM education on students' academic success was statistically higher (g= 1.150) in the random-effects model. A heterogeneous distribution was obtained from the sample. Further subgroup analyzes using Analog ANOVA revealed that disciplines (Qb= 921.394; p= 0.000), and publication type variables were statistically significant (Qb= 7.229; p= 0.007). With respect to the disciplines, the effects of STEM education showed the largest effect size of 1.156 in the discipline of science. Regarding the publication type, national studies were presented the largest effect size of 1.155.

Our paper focuses on delineating and scoping international Women's Sheds, a movement that has emerged within the past decade, mainly in Australia, Ireland and the UK. It addresses two main research questions. Firstly, what is the origin, distribution, nature and intent of Women's Sheds internationally to March 2021? Secondly, how might Women's Sheds be located within a typology inclusive of Men's Sheds and a range of community development models? We employed a systematic search via the internet in 2020-21, followed up by attempted email or phone contact to publicly reported Women's Sheds and like organisations internationally. In the process, we created a publicly shareable blog including a database of 122 existing, previously active, developing or planned Women's Sheds and like organisations to 13 March 2021. We identify four nations where self-identified Women's Sheds have operated or commenced within the past decade: Australia (61), the UK (30), Ireland (28) and New Zealand (3), particularly during the five years between 2014 and 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic seriously curtailed this previous momentum and development after March 2020. We identify some similarities but also important differences between Women's and Men's Sheds. We propose a typology that accounts not only for the different ways in which Women's Sheds operate and women participate within their communities but also the different ways in which they locally collaborate (or not) with Men's Sheds in different countries. We conclude that Women's Sheds have largely been created by women in order to claim the shed as a positive female gendered space, in order to create an alternative community of women's hands-on practice. Team project-based learning (TPBL) combines two learning techniques: 1) project-based learning (PBL) and 2) teamwork. This combination leverages the learning outcomes of both methods and places students in a real work situation where they must develop and solve a real project while working as a team. TPBL has been used in two advanced database subjects in Jaume I University (UJI)'s Computer Science degree program. This learning method was used for four years (academic years from 2018/2019 to 2021/2022) with positive outcomes. This study presents the project development, which includes teamwork formation, activities, timetable, and exercised learning competencies (both soft and specific). Further, the project's results were evaluated from three different perspectives: 1) teamwork evaluation by teammates; 2) students' opinions on the subject and project; and 3) subject final grades.

Previous research has revealed that distributional information obtained from child-directed speech could be informative for children when they are learning grammatical categories. Frequent frames are distributional units proposed by Mintz and explored by researchers in many languages with different typologies. This study investigated two parent-child corpora from the CHILDES database to determine frequent frames in Persian child-directed speech. To do so, a number of frequent frames in the two corpora and more specifically those which contained complex verbs were analyzed in detail. The results indicate that the accuracy of frequent frames in Persian (0.54) with some specific typological features is lower than that of English (0.91) at the word level due to the flexibility of the basic SOV order at the sentence level in Persian. It was also found that Persian frequent frames mostly included complex verbs. This evidence, along with the results of frames in categorizing words at this level, indicates that the accuracy of the frames is also affected by the fact that the subject position of verbs is mostly left vacant in Persian as a pro-drop language. That is why the non-finite forms of the verbs were taken into account when a verb was a part of the frames. The results also revealed that grammatical categories which mostly appeared in the context of frames were verbs, while the target words were nouns and adjectives.

An intraverbal assessment was administered to older adults with aphasia, using a hierarchy of questions that required increasingly complex verbal discriminative stimulus control. Five categories of errors were defined and analyzed for putative stimulus control, with the aim to identify requisite assessment components leading to more efficient and effective treatments. Evocative control over intraverbal error responses was evident throughout the database, as shown by commonalities within four distinct categories of errors; a fifth category, representing a narrow majority of errors, was less clear in terms of functional control over responses. Generally, questions requiring increasingly complex intraverbal stimulus control resulted in weaker verbal performance for those with aphasia. A new 9-point intraverbal assessment model is proposed, based on Skinner's functional analysis of verbal behavior. The study underscores that loss or disruption of a formerly sophisticated language repertoire presents differently than the fledgling language skills and errors of new learners, such as typically developing children and those with autism or developmental disabilities. Thus, we would do well to consider that rehabilitation may require a different approach to intervention than habilitation. We offer several thematic topics for future research in this area.

With the improvement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs, online learning has become a viable means for teaching and learning. Nonetheless, online learning is still facing various challenges. The challenges include lack of support and loneliness experienced by learners. Adaptive online learning is one of the means that researchers are proposing to support learners and reduce the loneliness they experience in online learning. Research in adaptive online learning has been on the rise. Though there are several review studies that have attempted to provide summaries of research and development happening in this area, there is still lack of a comprehensive and up-to-date review that looks at the aspects of adaptive online learning systems in terms of the learner characteristics being modelled, domain model, adaptation model, the various techniques used to achieve the various tasks in those models and the impact the adaptive online learning has on learning. This study therefore was initiated in order to fill this gap. The study was carried out using a systematic literature review methodology. A total of 59 articles were used in the study, drawn from six databases namely Science direct, IEEE explore, ACM, Emerald, Springer and Taylor and Francis. The results indicate that: the most used learner characteristic is learning style even though the use of learning knowledge is on the rise; there is a rise in the use of machine learning algorithms in learner modelling; learning content is the most common target for adaptation; rules is the most utilized method in the adaptation model; and most adaptive online learning have not been evaluated in terms of learning. There is therefore a need for evaluation of the developed adaptive online learning and more studies that utilize more than one learner characteristic as the basis for adaptation and those that use machine learning.

Expected yield rates are essential to a survey's data collection plan, as they inform requisite sample sizes to meet the survey's objectives. Given an overall expected yield rate for a self-administered mail survey, this short take describes a simple method for using the Census Planning Database to assign differential yield rates to lower-level geographies within the study area.

Professional identity impacts the workforce at personal, interpersonal and profession levels however there is a lack of reviews of professional identity research across practising health professionals. To summarise professional identity research in the health professions literature and explore how professional identity is described a scoping review was conducted by searching Medline, Psycinfo, Embase, Scopus, CINAHL, and Business Source Complete using "professional identity" and related terms for 32 health professions. Empirical studies of professional identity in post-registration health professionals were examined with health profession, career stage, background to research, theoretical underpinnings and constructs of professional identity being extracted, charted and analysed using content analysis where relevant. From 9941 studies, 160 studies across 17 health professions were identified, with nursing and medicine most common. Twenty studies focussed on professional identity in the five years post-entry to the workforce and 56 studies did not state career stage. The most common background for the research was the impact of political, social and healthcare reforms and advances. Thirty five percent of studies (n = 57) stated the use of a theory or framework of identity, the most common being classified as social theories. Individual constructs of professional identity across the research were categorised into five themes--"The Lived Experience of Professional Identity"; "The World Around Me"; "Belonging"; "Me"; and "Learning and Qualifications." Descriptions of professional identity are broad, varied, rich and multi-layered however the literature is under theorised with current theories potentially inadequate to capture its complexity and make meaningful contributions to the allied health professions.

Researchers and practitioners are paying increasing attention to blockchain's potential for resolving trust, privacy, and transparency-related issues in smart education. Research on educational blockchain is also becoming an active field of research. Based on 206 studies published from 2017 to 2020, we identify contributors, collaborators, applications, and research topics using topic modeling and bibliometrics. Results indicate that currently, studies on the educational blockchain are mostly published in computer science conferences, with few in educational technology journals. Asian countries/regions (e.g., China and India) and institutions (e.g., University of Raharja) are active in this field. Countries/regions and institutions from the same regions tend to have close collaborations. Blockchain is mainly used to facilitate online testing and learning, education data mining and analytics, resource sharing, educational record verification and authentication, data management and storing, administration management, education/discipline of children, and college crowdfunding. Based on the results, we highlight the need to integrate artificial intelligence to enhance scalability and security and to facilitate justification and personalization of blockchain solutions based on accumulated big data to capture abnormal behaviors. This study assists researchers and practitioners in understanding educational blockchain research and becoming aware of the hot topics and future directions.

Microteaching and reflection remains an important technique that pre-service student teachers can use to practice their teaching in a safe environment. However, improvements in teaching are not guaranteed without the support and feedback from peers. Previous studies suggest that a learning community supported by information technology promotes improved pedagogical decisions. This study aimed to examine whether virtual learning communities can facilitate student teachers' reflection upon their teaching practice. A video database with both text- and voice-comment functionalities was designed to facilitate the process of giving peer feedback and improve the quality of teaching practice. Student teachers' experiences in using the video database were collected through a questionnaire survey and feedback recorded within the database. Findings indicated that student teachers demonstrated a better understanding of concepts and theories relevant to the teaching of the chosen language skill area. While only some student teachers reflected on their reflective teaching practice more effectively with voice-comment features, most of them did peer evaluation of relevant principles and techniques used in their microteaching. Although feedback on the comment functionalities was divided, student teachers trusted that the microteaching videos with their own reflection and peer feedback were good evidence of their learning outcomes. Future research should examine what types of peer feedback in virtual learning communities may work more effectively in enhancing the quality of reflective teaching practice.

Addressing Sorensen and Tuma's resource-reward theory, we explored teacher attrition from an economic perspective. The study aimed to explore the extent to which teachers' resources and terms of employment correlate with attrition behavior. In a sample of 10,340 Israeli K-12 teachers it was found that many beginning teachers who left the profession were relatively highly educated. Although the literature stresses teachers' intrinsic motivation for choosing their career, the findings, in line with earlier empirical studies, suggest that job rewards do play an important role in teachers' career decisions. Moreover, the current findings suggest that at lower salary levels, the rewards-attrition association differs by teacher higher-education level. That is, the attrition rates of highly-educated teachers drop more sharply as salary increases, as expected by the theory. Some explanations and policy recommendations are made.

Open pedagogy has been touted by advocates as a promising expansion of open educational resources because it involves shifting from making resources accessible to impacting the practice of teaching. The allure of the term coupled with its promise to bring greater innovation to pedagogy has led to its widespread use at conferences and publications. However, as the concept has gained increasing levels of popularity, it has also sparked considerable debate as to what it means. For example, how is open pedagogy distinct from other forms of pedagogy such as critical or cultural? What does it mean to practice open pedagogy? Without a clear understanding of its meaning, establishing a solid research foundation on which to make claims about the impact of open pedagogy approaches is difficult. Accordingly, this article argues that the current debate signals the need for the development of robust analytical frameworks in order to construct a cohesive body of research that can be used to advance it as a field of study. To do this, the authors review the literature and identify common characteristics within it. The authors then propose a five-part framework that encourages the long-term sustainability of open pedagogy.

The aim of this research is to examine articles and thesis studies in the field of authentic learning approaches and applications in education in the last 10 years and to reveal the trends in this context. In the methodology part of the research, meta-analysis method was used. Meta-analysis studies refers to the critical review and integration of the findings of separate studies. For the purpose of the study, a total of 111 pieces of research, published between 2010 and 2021 and selected by purposeful sampling method were analyzed. Databases used in this research are Eric, IEEE Xplore, Ebsco, Springer, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Sciences. Authentic learning approaches and applications in education throughout the world were examined under 16 criteria. These criteria were: "databases," "journal name," "year of publication," "country," "institute," "number of authors," "research area," "method," "education level," "number of sample," "data collection method," "number of references," "analysis techniques," "research trends." These data were interpreted based on percentage and frequency. As a result, authentic learning approaches and application are integrated in many fields such as ICT, engineering, network learning technology, nursing, curriculum and instruction, geography, medicine and more.

We present a systematic review of the literature on the use of multiuser virtual environments (MUVE) on the development of pragmatic competence in second language (L2) learners. Specifically, we reviewed studies examining the potential of L2 pragmatic development through synthetic immersive virtual environment (SIE) and massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs). Although a small but growing number of research has identified MUVE as a beneficial context for L2 pragmatic development, there are only a few review studies that have critically assessed this body of work (Sykes & Dubreil, 2019; Reinhardt & Thorne, 2020). Our review of 16 studies examined the affordances that digital game worlds provide for developing pragmatic competence. Specifically, we sought to answer four research questions: 1. Which aspects of L2 pragmatic learning have been examined in game-mediated contexts? 2. Which types of research paradigms have been used? 3. Which types of research methods have been implemented and finally what are the major findings? Results indicated that previous research has identified the potential of MUVEs for promoting learners' pragmatic awareness and production as well as interactional skills. This review concludes by identifying gaps in the previous literature as well as potential areas for future research.

We investigated how the opportunity to learn (OTL) with different types of mathematics tasks are related to mathematical literacy and the role of perceived control in the relationship between OTL and mathematical literacy. The structural equation modeling was applied to the data of 1,649 Korean students from the PISA 2012 database. OTL with the four different types of tasks -- algebraic word problems, procedural tasks, pure mathematics reasoning, and applied mathematics reasoning -- were measured via student survey on how often they have encountered each type of task in their mathematics lessons and tests. The results showed that OTL with the procedural tasks was likely to increase mathematical literacy directly and indirectly through internal perceived control. Engaging in the applied reasoning tasks is positively related to external perceived control, but negatively to mathematical literacy.

This paper presents a study of correlation between subjects of Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Electronics/Power) at Universiti Teknologi MARA(UiTM) Cawangan Terengganu using Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The analysis was done to see the effect of mathematical subjects (Pre-calculus and Calculus 1) and core subject (Electric Circuit 1) on Electronics 1. Electronics 1 is found to be a core subject with the history of high failure rate percentage (more than 25%) in previous semesters. This research has been conducted on current final semester students (Semester 5). Seven (7) models of ANN are developed to observe the correlation between the subjects. In order to develop an ANN model, ANN design and parameters need to be chosen to find the best model. In this study, historical data from students' database were used for training and testing purpose. Total number of datasets used are 58 sets. 70% of the datasets are used for training process and 30% of the datasets are used for testing process. The Regression Coefficient, (R) values from the developed models was observed and analyzed to see the effect of the subject on the performance of students. It can be proven that Electric Circuit 1 has significant correlation with the Electronics 1 subject respected to the highest R value obtained (0.8100). The result obtained proves that student's understanding on Electric Circuit 1 subject (taken during semester 2) has direct impact on the performance of students on Electronics 1 subject (taken during semester 3). Hence, early preventive measures could be taken by the respective parties.

The TheatreWorks of Southern Indiana case examines the requirements of a local community theatre group as it strives to incorporate and leverage database technology in a unique non-profit performing arts setting.

When referring to peace, peacebuilding, and peace education, among others, some similarities and differences among them appear. Although some consider ELT as a peripheral field regarding peace construction, diverse enunciation modalities profile this interest. Inquiring into "what, where, when and who," I analyzed 55 articles and 36 presentation abstracts for this qualitative study to unveil what is understood as peace construction in ELT. This revision presents six tendencies. Gaps and opportunities of research action for teachers are synthesized. Time/space coordinates of enunciation modalities in peace construction are displayed. I describe who the teachers behind some studies might be, regarding their locus of enunciation. Conclusion remarks around the diverse nature of peace construction are discussed, as representing those links between imagined separated fields.

The use of technology in education has become an urgent necessity and is no longer a luxury. This is evident through the attachment of students to their tablets, mobile phones, and other forms of various technologies. Therefore, educational institutions, especially universities and higher education institutions, must think according to the age variables and their requirements by providing interesting and attractive educational environments that suit the interests of students. In this context, several strategies based on the employment of modern technology have appeared in the educational process, perhaps the most prominent of which is called the flipped classroom. This paper aims to introduce a proposed model for employing databases in the flipped classroom learning environment at Saudi universities, based on the integration between database and instructional design models where the transition to a flexible and effective virtual learning environment suits the growing and changing needs of students; it also reviews the concept of the flipped classroom and its features in improving the teaching and learning process, as well as reviewing the database concept, its components, characteristics, and roles in developing the educational system.

Machines produce and operate using complex systems of metadata that need to be catalogued, sorted, and processed. Many students lack the experience with metadata and sufficient knowledge about it to understand it as part of their data literacy skills. This paper describes an educational and interactive database activity designed for teaching undergraduate communication students about the creation, value, and logic of structured data. Through a set of virtual instructional videos and interactive visualizations, the paper describes how students can gain experience with structured data and apply that knowledge to successfully find, curate, and classify a digital archive of media artifacts. The pedagogical activity, teaching materials, and archives are facilitated through and housed in an online resource called Fabric of Digital Life (fabricofdigitallife.com). We end by discussing the activity's relevance for the emerging field of human-machine communication.

Blended learning is a set of pedagogical strategies and practices that are closely related to the emergence of new technologies in society and in higher education. They are characterized by a combination of face-to-face and online learning that integrates a variety of materials in the teaching and learning process. The aim of our research was to analyze scientific production on this topic using two prestigious international databases: Scopus and Web of Science (WOS). A bibliometric study was conducted on 508 papers, and content analysis was performed on 119 openly accessible publications. Results show that blended learning is being applied in all scientific and professional spheres. This learning model is praised for its positive impact on motivation and learning effectiveness, as well as for promoting student autonomy. With respect to content, it is worth noting that many authors observe that methodological success is related to cultural context and access to devices and materials. Furthermore, it is suggested that greater methodological diversity is preferable to a single hegemonic approach. In short, the present paper contributes to the educational community by shedding light on how blended learning is being implemented and its impact on higher education.

What are missing in the U.S. education policy of "college for all" are supporting data and indicators on K-16 education pathways, i.e, how well all students get ready and stay on track from kindergarten through college. This study creates synthetic national longitudinal education database that helps track and support students' educational pathways by combining two nationallyrepresentative U.S. sample datasets: Early Childhood Longitudinal Study- Kindergarten (ECLS-K; Kindergarten through 8th grade) and National Education Longitudinal Study (NELS; 8th grade through age 25). The merge of these national datasets, linked together via statistical matching and imputation techniques, can help bridge the gap between elementary and secondary/postsecondary education data/research silos. Using this synthetic K-16 education longitudinal database, this study applies machine learning data analytics in search of college readiness early indicators among kindergarten students. It shows the utilities and limitations of linking preexisting national datasets to impute education pathways and assess college readiness. It discusses implications for developing more holistic and equitable educational assessment system in support of K-16 education longitudinal database.

Research is one of the key pillars in the teaching and learning situation in any university in the world. However, the approach to research varies from one university to the other. The purpose of this study was to find out how the level of awareness and satisfaction, the challenges and extent of use of open access resources impact research productivity of faculty in *Dartum University. A quantitative survey research method was adopted. A sample size of 62 full-time lecturers and 134 part-time lecturers was selected for the study using a stratified simple random sampling technique. The findings revealed that research productivity is low despite the high level of awareness and satisfaction with open access use. Again, the findings showed that faculty members use open access to a considerable extent and point out some challenges associated with open access use. It was concluded that there is a very weak but significant influence of open access use on research productivity in Dartum University. It is recommended that African universities, and in particular Dartum University, establish or patronise institutional repositories which support open access.

We present the process of developing a taxonomy of key terms for Mathematics Education. We build on the existing taxonomy of key terms that has been used in an open access document repository. Additionally, we took into account terms that have been established in encyclopedias of the discipline and the frequency of use of keywords in specialized journals that were indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. We made a review of synonymy between these terms and the terms of the existing taxonomy. We included in our proposal the terms that are relevant given their frequency of use in the journals. We removed from the existing taxonomy the terms that are little used in practice. The new taxonomy is organized in six main categories: approach, educational level, foundations of Mathematics Education, research in Mathematics Education, pedagogical notions and mathematical content. This proposal was validated in three phases by researchers, innovators in Mathematics Education, and editors of specialized journals and experts who lead associations and events in the discipline.

This research aims to 1) Develop a common framework for artificial intelligence in higher education (AAI-HE model) and 2) Assess the AAI-HE model. The research process is divided into two stages: 1) Develop an AAI-HE model, and 2) Assessment the model. The sample consists of five experts chosen through purposive sampling. The data is analyzed by means and standardized deviations statistically. The research result shows that 1) the AAI-HE model consists of seven key components which are 1.1) User Interactive Components and Technology of AI, 1.2) Components and Technology of AI, 1.3) Roles for Artificial Intelligence in Education 1.4) Machine Learning and Deep Learning 1.5) DSS Modules 1.6) Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Education, and 1.7) AI to enhance campus efficiencies, and 2) The result of the assessment of the AAI-HE model is rated as absolutely appropriate overall.

Distributed Leadership is a conceptual and analytical approach to understanding leadership that is focused on interactions between leaders and those they lead with the goal of driving instructional improvement and improving student outcomes by developing high-quality teaching and an educational culture that enables all students to thrive. This article provides an overview of the state-of-the-art research available on distributed leadership. As new social and educational demands emerge, leadership responses need to be reformed at all school levels to ensure a school's ability to provide a high-quality education. These transformations must be promoted from within each school center. The author describes and covers a deep review of the literature between 1981 and 2020. The source data for this research, (321 articles), is derived from SCOPUS, Biblometrix Studio, and VOSviewer. The terms and their clusters were illustrated on graphs, and density maps were utilized. General recommendations are provided and challenges are identified for the incorporation of DL changes into the management of schools. The findings show that the literature refers explicitly to DL, wherein there are a number of interesting insights provided by theoretical articles. A conclusion is given with recommendations for further multidisciplinary research at the intersection of the fields in order to show the holistic landscape of this field. The purpose of this study is to examine scientific publications about Geography Education in terms of bibliometric indicators. Case study method, one of the qualitative research methods, was applied in this study. The scanning range of bibliometric data obtained from the WoS database generated by Clarivate Analytics covers the dates between 1975 and March 2020. The bibliometric analysis technique was conducted in the study. As a result of the analyses, it was revealed that 559 of 64,874,978 studies registered in the WoS database between 1975 and 2020 were the studies related to Geography Education. It was also observed that 196 (35.06%) of these records were in the education / training research category. Through the analyses, it was concluded that the most common type of publication related to Geography Education was the articles with a total number of 196. Moreover, it is seen that approximately 106 of the published articles have been published during the years between 2016 and 2020. This rate indicates that the educational researches related to Geography Education have increased in recent years. In addition, at the end of the analyses, it was comprehended that there are 330 different authors contributing to the related field. It was determined that a total of 535 different keywords were utilized in 196 articles, and the most effective journal was the "Journal of Geography and Environmental Education". Besides, it is observed that the researchers from 25 different countries have published some articles that contribute to the field. In this regard, the most active country is the United States, and it is respectively followed by Britain, Australia, and Turkey. That Turkey with 18 articles takes place at the 4th rank among the 25 different countries indicates that some comprehensive studies related to this field are carried out.
