ASPARTATE aminotransferase , *NON-alcoholic fatty liver disease , *HEPATIC fibrosis , *FIBROSIS , *ALANINE aminotransferase - Abstract
Several noninvasive biological scores were developed to predict liver fibrosis (LF) in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We aimed to assess the correlation between AST to Platelet Ratio Index (APRI), Fibrosis 4 (FIB-4) Index and BARD score vs. Transient Elastography (TE), in a group of NAFLD patients. We conducted a prospective study, which included 74 patients with NAFLD, (mean age 54.5 ± 11.6 years, 49.4% female). All patients were evaluated clinically (Body mass index- BMI, waist circumference), by serum markers (aspartate transaminase-AST, alanine aminotransferase -ALT, platelets count, gamma glutamyl transferases- GGT, triglycerides), as well as by TE (FibroScan Compact M 530). Based on specific formulas, we calculated APRI, FIB-4 index and, BARD, scores [1]. To discriminate advanced fibrosis (F≥3) by means of TE, we used the cut-off value of 9.7 kPa [2]. Out of 74 patients with NAFLD, 10.8% (8/74) patients had advanced fibrosis based on TE measurements. Using APRI cut-off <2 (100% patients) to rule out advanced fibrosis, we found a NPV of 91.7%. A weak, but significant correlation between liver stiffness (LS) assessed by TE and APRI score was found (r=0.31, p<0.0001). Using FIB-4 cut-off <2.6 to rule out advanced fibrosis (91.2% - 68/74 patients), we found out a NPV of 92.8%. FIB-4 score was weakly correlated to TE measurements, but statistically significant (r=0.20 , p=0.006). Regarding BARD score, 36.4% (27/74) of patients had a BARD score <2, used to rule out advanced fibrosis, with a NPV of 100%. APRI, BARD and FIB-4 can rule out advanced fibrosis. These simple scores could be the basis for evaluation on LF in order to evaluate the need for further investigations [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bu amaçla toplamda on iki saz şairinin on dört videosu incelenmiştir. Söz konusu videolarda mizah, korona virüs ve onun yarattığı sosyoekonomik etkiler üzerine kuruludur. Mizahın güldürme, iğneleme, alaya alma, rahatlatma ve eğitme işlevlerinin tespit edildiği örneklerde saz şairleri salgın günlerinde toplumun sesi olmaya çalışmıştır. Şairler salgın döneminde mizahın imkânlarını kullanarak dinleyici kitlesinin bir yandan kıssadan hisse almasını diğer yandan da hoşça vakit geçirmesini sağlamıştır., The Bards, who continued the Ozan-Baksı Tradition and witnessed the age in which he lived, tried to follow the current status by sharing their poems about the Coronavirus on new performance platforms. The Bards, who created their poems, which are the places of the memory, by using hundreds of years of experience of the Turkish culture and civilization and touching on current issues in these poems, sometimes used the subtleties of humor and made the listeners laugh, think or be amused. The purpose of the present study is to determine and is to make an analysis on the functions the use of humor in the poems about the Coronavirus shared by the Bards on YouTube between March-December 2020. For this purpose, fourteen videos of twelve bards were examined. These videos, humor is based on the Coronavirus and its socioeconomic effects. In the examples where humor, sarcasm, ridicule, comforting, and educating functions were found, the Bards tried to be the voice of the society during the pandemic days. These poets also made use of the possibilities of humor during the pandemic period, allowing the audience to have a share of the story on the one hand, and have a good time on the other.

The relationship between women and classical antiquity, its texts, artefacts, and study, has been fraught to say the least; the discipline of Classics has often been defined by the exclusion of women, in terms of their education and their ability to contribute to debates more generally. However, we are currently in the middle of an astonishing period when women are laying more of a claim to the discipline than ever before. This article examines three recent novels by women which take on the cultural weight of the Homeric epics, Iliad and Odyssey, to explore the possibilities of a ‘new song’ that foregrounds female characters. The novels experiment with different narrative voices and are self-conscious about the practices of story-telling and of bardic song. Their awareness of their challenge to and contest with Homeric tradition renders their ‘new songs’ fragile as well as precious.

- Abstract
Artificial intelligence has lately proven useful in the field of medical genetics. It is already being used to interpret genome sequences and diagnose patients based on facial recognition. More recently, large-language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT have been tested for their capacity to provide medical genetics information. It was found that ChatGPT performed similarly to human respondents in factual and critical thinking questions, albeit with reduced accuracy in the latter. In particular, ChatGPT's performance in questions related to calculating the recurrence risk was dismal, despite only having to deal with a single disease. To see if challenging ChatGPT with more difficult problems may reveal its flaws and their bases, it was asked to solve recurrence risk problems dealing with two diseases instead of one. Interestingly, it managed to correctly understand the mode of inheritance of recessive diseases, yet it incorrectly calculated the probability of having a healthy child. Other LLMs were also tested and showed similar noise. This highlights a major limitation for clinical use. While this shortcoming may be solved in the near future, LLMs may not be ready yet to be used as an effective clinical tool in communicating medical genetics information., (© 2023 Wiley Periodicals LLC.)

- Abstract
Background Large language models (LLMs) have emerged as powerful tools capable of processing and generating human-like text. These LLMs, such as ChatGPT (OpenAI Incorporated, Mission District, San Francisco, United States), Google Bard (Alphabet Inc., CA, US), and Microsoft Bing (Microsoft Corporation, WA, US), have been applied across various domains, demonstrating their potential to assist in solving complex tasks and improving information accessibility. However, their application in solving case vignettes in physiology has not been explored. This study aimed to assess the performance of three LLMs, namely, ChatGPT (3.5; free research version), Google Bard (Experiment), and Microsoft Bing (precise), in answering cases vignettes in Physiology. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted in July 2023. A total of 77 case vignettes in physiology were prepared by two physiologists and were validated by two other content experts. These cases were presented to each LLM, and their responses were collected. Two physiologists independently rated the answers provided by the LLMs based on their accuracy. The ratings were measured on a scale from 0 to 4 according to the structure of the observed learning outcome (pre-structural = 0, uni-structural = 1, multi-structural = 2, relational = 3, extended-abstract). The scores among the LLMs were compared by Friedman's test and inter-observer agreement was checked by the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Results The overall scores for ChatGPT, Bing, and Bard in the study, with a total of 77 cases, were found to be 3.19±0.3, 2.15±0.6, and 2.91±0.5, respectively, p<0.0001. Hence, ChatGPT 3.5 (free version) obtained the highest score, Bing (Precise) had the lowest score, and Bard (Experiment) fell in between the two in terms of performance. The average ICC values for ChatGPT, Bing, and Bard were 0.858 (95% CI: 0.777 to 0.91, p<0.0001), 0.975 (95% CI: 0.961 to 0.984, p<0.0001), and 0.964 (95% CI: 0.944 to 0.977, p<0.0001), respectively. Conclusion ChatGPT outperformed Bard and Bing in answering case vignettes in physiology. Hence, students and teachers may think about choosing LLMs for their educational purposes accordingly for case-based learning in physiology. Further exploration of their capabilities is needed for adopting those in medical education and support for clinical decision-making., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist., (Copyright © 2023, Dhanvijay et al.)

- Abstract
Introduction: Artificial generative intelligence (AGI) and large language models (LLMs) have gained significant attention in healthcare and hold enormous promise for transforming every aspect of our life and urology is no exception., Materials and Methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature search of electronic databases and included articles discussing AGI and LLMs in healthcare. Additionally, we have incorporated our experiences interacting with the ChatGPT and GPT-4 in different situations with real case reports and case constructs., Results: Our review highlights the potential applications and likely impact of these technologies in urology, for differential diagnosis, prioritizing treatment options, and facilitating research, surgeon, and patient education. At their current developmental stage, we have recognized the need for concurrent validation and continuous human interaction necessary to induce inverse reinforced learning with human feedback to mature them to authenticity. We need to consciously adjust to the hallucinations and guard patients' confidentiality before their extensive implementations in clinical practice. We propose possible remedies for these shortcomings and emphasize the critical role of human interaction in their evolution., Conclusion: The integration of these tools has the potential to revolutionize urology, but it also presents several challenges needing attention. To harness the full potential of these models, urologists must consistently engage in training these tools with their clinical sense and experience. We urge the urology community to actively participate in AGI and LLM development to address potential challenges. These models could help us in unleashing our full potential and help us achieve a better work-life balance.

For his last novel, Cameroonian writer Richard M. Keuko, drew inspiration from African traditions and, chiefly, from epic narratives originating in Central Africa that continue to spark great interest in local communities. The protagonist of the story fleshes out the specific traits of the epic hero, which is why the narrator, following suit the ancient bards’ tradition, emphasizes his courage, strength, pride and moral superiority. Further features such as the dialogic structure of the text –which enables the narrator to address the reader directly– and the inclusion of a number of oral texts, rally this work with the epic genre.

- Abstract
The purpose of the article is to argue the essential kinship between the rock culture of the last half of the 20th century and Western European romanticism of the 19th century and to point out correspondent analogies and typological parallels. Methodology. The study involves a comparative method as the main research tool. The methods of historical and systematic analysis are also of great importance in the process of finding common essential characteristics of the cultural phenomena in question. The Scientific Novelty of the research lies in the very fact of matching and comparing rock culture and music romanticism of the 19th century with including in the comparative analysis such aspects as artistic and historical situation, the thematic spectrum of the works of art, type of artist's personality, the specificity of the music language. Conclusions. The similarity of the two cultural phenomena, Western European romanticism, and rock, can be explained firstly by the resemblance of the social and historical situation, the key traits of which are great revolutionary upsurge with the further tough reaction that provokes frustration. The art, produced by the historical situation, has following typological treats: connection to the national liberation struggle, clearly expressed youthful world-view and corresponding emotional excessive emotionality, the domination of introvert and depressive type of artist, clearly traced bard characteristics with the appropriate specificity of musical and literature language. AšuƗ/aşık/aşıq (from the Arabic `āshiq, or lover) is a skilled bard's composite performing art-- a unity of prose narrations, songs, instrumental accompaniment, and appropriate gesture. Of sixteenth-century Turkic origin, the art spread over a vast area covering modern Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, and further. In the mid-eighteenth century Sayat`-Nova, the best-known Armenian ašuƗ, was active in Tiflis (modern Tbilisi), the capital of Eastern Georgia. His songs were written in at least three languages--Armenian, Georgian and Azerbaijani--and won praise for their ardent emotion and artistic perfection. But despite his importance in Near Eastern culture, two issues in Sayat`-Nova studies have rarely been studied. First, fully appreciating Sayat`-Nova requires contextualizing his work within the developing Armenian ašuƗ tradition and the international ašuƗ/aşık/aşıq tradition in the Near East. Second, the history of Sayat`-Nova studies as a field and its growing popularity in relation to twentieth-century Armenian nationalism and Soviet cultural policies demands attention as well. Focusing on these neglected issues will enable a richer understanding of Sayat`-Nova's place in the history of the ašuƗ/aşık/aşıq tradition as well as his relation to the elevated poetic traditions in South Caucasia, the Armenian ašuƗs’ contribution within the broader matrix of the early modern Turkic aşık/aşıq tradition, and the evolution of a distinct ašuƗ tradition in the Armenian language. At the same time, exploring his posthumous adoption as a cultural icon will provide insight into the history of scholarship and of mass culture both in South Caucasia and for Armenians worldwide.

This article aims to present an analytical survey of various aspects of narrative mediation in the action-fantasy TV-series Xena: Warrior Princess, by discussing a number of structural, verbal as well as visual devices that justify the qualification of Xena as “art television”. What is particularly unique to this series is the manner in which Xena’s heroic exploits have reached the modern viewer, namely by means of the “scrolls” produced by Xena’s sidekick and bardic companion Gabrielle. Consecutive sections discuss and illustrate the role of Gabrielle as storyteller and narrative mediator, the function and presentation of her “scrolls”, the use of intertextual or remediating as well as regendering narration of familiar narratives from myth and history, and some of the narrative problems Gabrielle is made to encounter, such as writer’s block, writerly self-doubt and the power of the word taking over from “reality”.

Background Although liver biopsy remains the gold standard for the diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease [NAFLD], many non-invasive markers of liver fibrosis have recently been proposed and assessed as surrogates of liver biopsy. Aims and objective To evaluate the degree of liver fibrosis by different non-invasive fibrosis scoring systems and to compare each non-invasive fibrosis scoring system with histological fibrosis stage. Materials and methods The study population consists of consecutive patients with biopsy proven NAFLD. Complete medical history was taken and physical examination was done in all patients along with appropriate biochemical evaluations. NAFLD fibrosis score, BARD score, BAAT score and APRI score were calculated and each score was compared with histological fibrosis staging. Results The study population consisted of 60 patients having mean age 39.73 years (SD 9.62, range 17–63 years) including 51 (85%) males and 9 (15%) females. On histology fibrosis was present in 68.3% (41/60) patients. Out of 60 patients 41 had fibrosis and among them 17, 22, 2 patients had grade 1, 2, 3 fibrosis respectively and no one had grade 4 fibrosis. 61.67% (37/60) had definite NASH. Comparing the fibrosis of histology with the noninvasive scoring systems, the sensitivity and specificity of NAFLD fibrosis score were 5.56% and 100% respectively. BARD score had 45.83% sensitivity and 80.55% specificity. The sensitivities of BAAT score and APRI score were 0% and 29.16% respectively and the specificities were 100% and 97.22% respectively. Conclusion The noninvasive scoring systems like NFS, BARD, BAAT, and APRI are not sensitive enough to detect fibrosis but highly specific to include fibrosis if scores are more than cut-off values in our cohort, however they cannot replace liver biopsy. Newer more efficient non-invasive scoring systems have to be devised for the Indian NAFLD population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HEMORRHAGE , *CEREBRAL ischemia , *WARFARIN , *BLOOD coagulation , *IMMUNOSTAINING - Abstract
Background and purpose Oxidative stress has been reported to be a main cause of neuronal cell death in ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI). Nuclear factor-erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is an important factor involved in anti-oxidative responses. We previously reported that bardoxolone methyl (BARD), an Nrf2 activator, prevented damage induced by IRI. In this study, we investigated the effect of BARD on hemorrhagic transformation in the context of blood brain barrier (BBB) protection. Methods Mice received pre-treatment with warfarin (4.0 mg/kg, p.o.). IRI was subsequently induced 18 h after the warfarin administration by transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) for 6 h. BARD (0.06, 0.2, 0.6 or 2.0 mg/kg) or saline was injected intravenously immediately after reperfusion. The infarct volume, neurological score, intracranial hemorrhage volume, and BBB permeability were evaluated 24 h after MCAO. The survival rate and behavioral functional recovery were evaluated for 7 days following IRI. Furthermore, the effects of BARD on BBB components were investigated by western blotting and immunostaining analysis. Results BARD suppressed warfarin-mediated increases in the intracranial hemorrhage volume without affecting the infarct volume. BBB permeability was also suppressed by administration of BARD. Western blotting showed that BARD increased expression of BBB components such as endothelial cells, pericytes, and tight junction proteins. Furthermore, immunostaining showed that BARD induced localization of Nrf2 to endothelial cells and pericytes. Conclusions BARD suppressed the exacerbation hemorrhage caused by warfarin pretreatment and ameliorated BBB disruption by protecting endothelial cells, pericytes, and tight junction protein expressions. These results indicate that Nrf2 activators may be an effective therapy against hemorrhagic transformation caused by anticoagulant drugs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
[Background & Aims] Non-invasive scoring systems (NSS) are used to identify patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) who are at risk of advanced fibrosis, but their reliability in predicting long-term outcomes for hepatic/extrahepatic complications or death and their concordance in cross-sectional and longitudinal risk stratification remain uncertain., [Methods] The most common NSS (NFS, FIB-4, BARD, APRI) and the Hepamet fibrosis score (HFS) were assessed in 1,173 European patients with NAFLD from tertiary centres. Performance for fibrosis risk stratification and for the prediction of long-term hepatic/extrahepatic events, hepatocarcinoma (HCC) and overall mortality were evaluated in terms of AUC and Harrell’s c-index. For longitudinal data, NSS-based Cox proportional hazard models were trained on the whole cohort with repeated 5-fold cross-validation, sampling for testing from the 607 patients with all NSS available., [Results] Cross-sectional analysis revealed HFS as the best performer for the identification of significant (F0-1 vs. F2-4, AUC = 0.758) and advanced (F0-2 vs. F3-4, AUC = 0.805) fibrosis, while NFS and FIB-4 showed the best performance for detecting histological cirrhosis (range AUCs 0.85-0.88). Considering longitudinal data (follow-up between 62 and 110 months), NFS and FIB-4 were the best at predicting liver-related events (c-indices>0.7), NFS for HCC (c-index = 0.9 on average), and FIB-4 and HFS for overall mortality (c-indices >0.8). All NSS showed limited performance (c-indices <0.7) for extrahepatic events., [Conclusions] Overall, NFS, HFS and FIB-4 outperformed APRI and BARD for both cross-sectional identification of fibrosis and prediction of long-term outcomes, confirming that they are useful tools for the clinical management of patients with NAFLD at increased risk of fibrosis and liver-related complications or death., [Lay summary] Non-invasive scoring systems are increasingly being used in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease to identify those at risk of advanced fibrosis and hence clinical complications. Herein, we compared various non-invasive scoring systems and identified those that were best at identifying risk, as well as those that were best for the prediction of long-term outcomes, such as liver-related events, liver cancer and death.

- Abstract
Noninvasive methods are increasingly used for the assessment of liver fibrosis. Two categories of markers include serum-based markers (biologic properties) or ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging–based techniques that use the principles of elastography (physical properties) to indirectly assess liver fibrosis. Serum markers can be either direct or indirect markers of the fibrosis process. Common elastography-based studies include vibration-controlled transient elastography, point shear wave elastography, and 2-dimensional shear wave elastography and magnetic resonance elastography. A common theme among all techniques is the inability to accurately differentiate between minimal or moderate stages of fibrosis but superior performance in identifying subjects with cirrhosis or normal liver parenchyma. Noninvasive markers may also serve as prognostic tools to course the natural history of chronic liver disease as well as identify cirrhotic patients at highest risk of future decompensation. Further research is needed to identify the role of noninvasive markers in following asymptomatic individuals, especially in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND Non-invasive fibrosis scores are not yet validated in the newly defined metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). AIM To evaluate the diagnostic performance of four non-invasive scores including aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI), fibrosis-4 index (FIB-4), body mass index, aspartate aminotransferase/alanine aminotransferase ratio, diabetes score (BARD), and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease fibrosis score (NFS) in patients with MAFLD. METHODS Consecutive patients with histologically confirmed MAFLD were included. The discrimination ability of different non-invasive scores was compared. RESULTS A total of 417 patients were included; 156 (37.4%) of them had advanced fibrosis (Metavir ≥ F3). The area under receiver operating characteristic curve of FIB-4, NFS, APRI, and BARD for predicting advanced fibrosis was 0.736, 0.724, 0.671, and 0.609, respectively. The area under receiver operating characteristic curve of FIB-4 and NFS was similar (P = 0.523), while the difference between FIB-4 and APRI (P = 0.001) and FIB-4 and BARD (P < 0.001) was statistically significant. The best thresholds of FIB-4, NFS, APRI, and BARD for diagnosis of advanced fibrosis in MAFLD were 1.05, -2.1, 0.42, and 2. A subgroup analysis showed that FIB-4, APRI, and NFS performed worse in the pure MAFLD group than in the hepatitis B virus-MAFLD group. CONCLUSION APRI and BARD scores do not perform well in MAFLD. The FIB-4 and NFS could be more useful, but a new threshold is needed. Novel non-invasive scoring systems for fibrosis are required for MAFLD.

In the article the author analyzes “Parlando” — a collection of original texts by Miroslaw Czyzykiewicz, intended for stage performance with guitar accompaniment or accompanied by more than one instrument. The linguistic form given to poems-songs by the author does not allow them to be treated as typical products of pop culture [1]. The collection of poems accompanied by original drawings, full of antinomies on the linguistic level, is at the same time coherent on the level of the presented world. It is the paradox of existence: immersed in his own work, Czyzykiewicz seems to balance between a self-destructive lifestyle and the saving power of art. The analysis of “Parlando” aims to show the wealth of literary means used by the author and the coherence of the poetry programme that has been consistently implemented for many years. Accordingly, the publishing concept of the collection will be analyzed.

The purpose o the article is to analyze the phenomenon of the author's song 50-60s of the twentieth century, as a means of cultural expression. The research methodology consists of the application of systemic, semiotic chronological, historical, and cultural methods for the most specific and reliable coverage of the features of cultural expression of the 50-60s with the help of the figurative and symbolic content of the author's song. The scientific novelty of the work consists in an attempt to analyze the means of cultural expression of the performers of the author's song of the 50-60s and their influence on the culture as a whole. Conclusions. The author's song from the beginning of its existence is a means of self-expression by means of a figurative and symbolic response to environmental events or irritants that disturb not only the author but also affect the interests of the broad masses of society. Thus, the performer of the author's song appears as the spokesman for not only his experiences but also the delegate of cultural, public opinion about those or other events., Мета роботи.

All NSS showed limited performance (c-indices, [Conclusions] Overall, NFS, HFS and FIB-4 outperformed APRI and BARD for both cross-sectional identification of fibrosis and prediction of long-term outcomes, confirming that they are useful tools for the clinical management of patients with NAFLD at increased risk of fibrosis and liver-related complications or death., [Lay summary] Non-invasive scoring systems are increasingly being used in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease to identify those at risk of advanced fibrosis and hence clinical complications. Herein, we compared various non-invasive scoring systems and identified those that were best at identifying risk, as well as those that were best for the prediction of long-term outcomes, such as liver-related events, liver cancer and death., This study has been supported by the EPoS (Elucidating Pathways of Steatohepatitis) consortium funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Program of the European Union under Grant Agreement 634413 and the Newcastle NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. US intelligence analysts must weigh up relevant evidence to assess the probability of their conclusions, and express this reasoning clearly in written reports for decision-makers. Typically, they work alone with no special analytic tools, and sometimes succumb to common probabilistic and causal reasoning errors. So, the US government funded a major research program (CREATE) for four large academic teams to develop new structured, collaborative, software-based methods that might achieve better results. Our team's method (BARD) is the first to combine two key techniques: constructing causal Bayesian network models (BNs) to represent analyst knowledge, and small-group collaboration via the Delphi technique. BARD also incorporates compressed, high-quality online training allowing novices to use it, and checklist-inspired report templates with a rudimentary AI tool for generating text explanations from analysts' BNs. In two prior experiments, our team showed BARD's BN-building assists probabilistic reasoning when used by individuals, with a large effect (Glass' Δ 0.8) (Cruz et al., 2020), and even minimal Delphi-style interactions improve the BN structures individuals produce, with medium to very large effects (Glass' Δ 0.5–1.3) (Bolger et al., 2020). This experiment is the critical test of BARD as an integrated system and possible alternative to business-as-usual for intelligence analysis. Participants were asked to solve three probabilistic reasoning problems spread over 5 weeks, developed by our team to test both quantitative accuracy and susceptibility to tempting qualitative fallacies. Our 256 participants were randomly assigned to form 25 teams of 6–9 using BARD and 58 individuals using Google Suite and (if desired) the best pen-and-paper techniques. For each problem, BARD outperformed this control with very large to huge effects (Glass' Δ 1.4–2.2), greatly exceeding CREATE's initial target. We conclude that, for suitable problems, BARD already offers significant advantages over both business-as-usual and existing BN software. Our effect sizes also suggest BARD's BN-building and collaboration combined beneficially and cumulatively, although implementation differences decreased performances compared to Cruz et al. (2020), so interaction may have contributed. BARD has enormous potential for further development and testing of specific components and on more complex problems, and many potential applications beyond intelligence analysis.

Alexander Galich is a representative of “The Third Wave” of the Russian emigration, who, however, is less well-known in Poland than other emigrants of this period, like Joseph Brodsky, Sergei Dovlatov or Eduard Limonov. Moreover, in Poland there are no publications devoted entirely to the works of this bard, which cannot be said about other bards – Vladimir Vysotsky and Bulat Okudzhava among others. That is why scientific researches in this area are so important. The main purpose of this article is to show the effects of the forced migration which influence on the poet’s mental condition, his life, the beliefs and, as a result, on the subjects of his works. It should be also noted that Galich’s living in Norway, Germany or France has resulted in the enrichment of the culture of these countries and has influenced on the knowledge of their inhabitants about the realities of life in the Soviet Union. Galich’s songs, mentioned in this article, are about the forced emigration, the life on emigration, the patriotism, the willingness to stay in the homeland, the hope for coming back to the homeland, the dreams of the homeland. All of this has prompted to think about poets and writers who have had to leave their country because of political reasons in Soviet times, nevertheless, theirs lives, development of creative and works are proofs of what is the patriotism of emigrants and how it is possible to raise awareness about the homeland being abroad. Moreover, it is important to note that living abroad has resulted in the idealization of the homeland as well as living on memories only. These issues have been very often raised in Russian works, and the basic dilemmas arising from them are undoubtedly still relevant today.

After the failed expedition of Kinsale (1601-1602), Irish exiles began to define their identity in the Iberian Peninsula. To legitimize their position, they based their rhetoric on the tradition surrounding a “Spanish” origin. Spread by means of medieval chronicles and bards, this discourse and the introduction of their common ‘ancestor’, the mythical King Milesius were the devices used by elites to justify their presence and incorporation within the structures of the Spanish monarchy. Intrinsic social polariza tion was represented in this account and used as a defining and differen tiating aspect. The historicity of this ideological construction was reflected by Castilian authors and accentuated by Irish scholars. Both these writing strategies and the instrumentalization of resources such as genealogies laid the foundations for a shared idiosyncrasy culminating in their Castilian naturalization, Este trabajo se ha realizado al amparo del programa Tomás y Valiente de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid-MIAS (Madrid Institute for Advanced Study), y es resultado del proyecto FAILURE: Reversing the Genealogies of Unsuccess, 16th-19th Centuries (H2020-MSCA-RISE. The ideal bladder-tumour-marker should be rapid, of-fice-based, inexpensive, non-invasive, accurate with high sensitivity and specificity. Aim : Our aim was to compare BTA (Stat) Bard to voided urine for cytology in patients with haematuria in detec-tion of TCC of genito urinary system. In our study of 120 patients (100 males and 20 females) between the age group of 18 to 85 years presenting with haematuria we investigated with BTA (Stat), urine for cy-tology and cystoscopies as an outpatient procedure. Result: Result revealed BTA (Stat) to be 87.5% sensi-tive and 71.4% specific in detecting TCC of urinary blad-der and upper tracts while urine cytology showed 25% sensitivity giving a statistically significant p-value (p< 0.0001) Conclusion: We conclude BTA Stat (Bard) to be a sim-ple non-invasive, rapid and highly sensitive test signifi-cantly superior to urine for cytology in detection of TCC of genitourinary system and should be an adjunctive to cystoscopy in surveillance of bladder malignancy but be-cause of its relatively low specificity cannot replace cys-toscopies.

The present work examines discourses of difference about two historical social identities in Manden (West Africa) using oral and written literary texts of different languages (Bambara, French, German, English) and genres (travelogue, praise song (fasa), epic (maana), novel, fairy tale, song (dↄnkili)), published between the 14th to the 21st century. The difference between horon, the noble, the free, and jeli, the 'handler of the word', is produced and shaped in a highly differentiated way as a complex mode of relation(ship) in a discursive and performative manner. As an improper difference it is formed under the premise of the principle of shame, especially along the attributions made between the generous rewards seeker and the panegyrical requester. The analysed texts, which have the period from the beginning of the medieval Mali empire to the middle of the 20th century as an intradiegetic setting, negotiate the difference according to specific intended effects from an outsider perspective, eg. for purposes of legitimacy of colonial intentions or from an insider perspective, partly politically motivated, in order to valorise one's own cultural heritage or to denounce (historical) grievances. The difference between jeli and hↄrↄn appears in varying ways, with the horon as hero (ŋana, cεfarin), king (mansa, faama), host (jatigi) and the jeli as master-singer/-orator (ŋaara), reputational entrepreneur, client of a jatigi. Literature and Difference are considered both as a rhetorical place of creative negotiation, of strategic (re)creation, through which the respective actors pursue specific interests and thereby participate in shaping discourses and thus realities. The jeli, who is at the same time performer, narrator and protagonist of many narratives, and the horon, determined by his status and his ethos, change as a literary construction depending on aesthetic and ideological strategies.

- Abstract
The article is about the work of the famous Polish poet and singer Jacek Kaczmarski. The author of the article argues that it is not enough to consider the poet as the first bard of Solidarity. The motives of the political opposition were not dominant in his work; his work historically coincided with a situation of political tension. However, Kachmarsky’s work raises and solves universal human problems, including Christian ones. Kachmarsky radically rethinks many traditional Christian postulates, including the figure of the Creator.,

PRESERVATION of historic sites , *HISTORIC preservation , *HERITAGE tourism , *CULTURE & tourism , *HISTORIC sites - Abstract
At the heart of the restoration and development project lies the ambition to make the fort a centre for alpine culture, based on an ongoing dialogue between tradition and modernity. A forum for the understanding and exploration of the Alps of today, with their appeal and contradictions, combined with a perspective on the history and tradition of the area. A cultural project that merges the precision of the scientific and educational mission of its museum with the power of communication offered by the theme park, to allow visitors to discover and learn with fun and excitement. The Fortress of Bard offers visitors privileged access into the heritage of the Valley of Aosta and the lower valley, with the Vallée Culture space, the Info Lounge and the many initiatives related to the Bard/Donnas/Pont Saint-Martin, microsystem, in which Bard plays an integral role.
