Abstract

It is widely known that some soils have strong levels of disease suppression and prevent the establishment of pathogens in the rhizosphere of plants. However, what soils are better suppressing disease, and how management can help us to boost disease suppression remain unclear. Here, we used field, greenhouse and laboratory experiments to investigate the effect of management (monocropping and rotation) on the capacity of rhizosphere microbiomes in suppressing peanut root rot disease. Compared with crop rotations, monocropping resulted in microbial assemblies that were less effective in suppressing root rot diseases. Further, the depletion of key rhizosphere taxa in monocropping, which were at a disadvantage in the competition for limited exudates resources, reduced capacity to protect plants against pathogen invasion. However, the supplementation of depleted strains restored rhizosphere resistance to pathogen. Taken together, our findings highlight the role of native soil microbes in fighting disease and supporting plant health, and indicate the potential of using microbial inocula to regenerate the natural capacity of soil to fight disease. © 2023, The Author(s).

Previous studies have found that the severity of cyberbullying incidents is one of the important factors affecting decisions to intervene. However, little is known about the mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this effect.Purpose: The current study explored the effect of the severity of cyberbullying incidents on bystander intention to intervene on social network sites (SNSs) among college students (Experiment 1), the mediating role of feelings of responsibility (Experiment 2) and the moderating role of empathy (Experiment 3).Patients and Methods: We presented cyberbullying incidents with different levels of severity through scenarios including fictive Weibo news reports and comments. Participants were exposed to a fictive cyberbullying incident and asked to complete a questionnaire including measures of the variables of interest.Results: Our results showed that the severity of incidents positively affected bystander intention to intervene through the mediation of feelings of responsibility. Empathy moderated the effect of incident severity on bystander intention to intervene.Conclusion: The results of the current study help to understand the behavior of bystanders in cyberbullying and they provide a practical reference for intervention in cyberbullying incidents.Keywords: cyberbullying, bystander, incident severity, intention to intervene, social network sites

230. Prestoring lithium into SnO2coated 3D carbon fiber cloth framework as dendrite-free lithium metal anode

Abstract

For several decades, the promise of implementing of lithium (Li) metal anodes has been regarded as the ‘‘holy grail’’ for Li-based batteries. Herein, we have proposed a facile design of a carbon fiber cloth (CFC) framework coated with SnO2nanoparticles through a hydrothermal process, which served as a reliable host for prestoring molten Li to produce a CFC@SnO2@Li composite anode. XRD, TEM, HRTEM, XPS and different electrochemical characterizations were carried out. Owing to the synergetic effects of the 3D conductive CFC and the coated lithiophilic SnO2nanoparticles, the designed CFC@SnO2@Li electrodes can buffer the volume changes and reduce the local current density, thus suppress the Li dendrites during cycling. Consequently, the CFC@SnO2electrodes showed a high and stable CE of 98.6% for 1000 cycles at a current density of 1 mA cm−2(1 mAh cm−2). What is more, at a high current density of 5 mA cm−2and a high areal capacity of 5 mAh cm−2, the symmetric cell displayed relatively low overpotential and long cycling lifetime of 1600 h. The results confirm its great potential as lithium metal anodes in practical battery applications.

Abstract

The results of physical fitness test in China has indicated that the aerobic capacity of Chinese undergraduates has persistently decreased at a low level in the past 35 years. Given the fact that the evaluation index system is the "baton" "weather vane" and" booster" for incentive, reform and development, so this study for the first time and based on the validity, by the methods of logical analysis and experimental argumentation, examines the evaluation index system on aerobic capacity for Chinese undergraduates, and then finds that the aerobic capacity evaluation of 1000/800-metre-run for Chinese undergraduates was not only single, but also lack of system, process and validity; accordingly, based on modern psychology and behaviour sciences, this work innovates constructs a diversified, differentiated, real-time and dynamically advanced Sudoku intelligent evaluation index system for Chinese undergraduates' aerobic capacity, which is created by the evaluation indices and standards of whole-process, hierarchical aerobic performance and the highly-validated 12-minute-run aerobic capacity. Abstract

Microplastics affect the sorption of heavy metals by soils and alter their migration and transformation in soils. In this paper, the changes in the soil adsorption performance of cadmium (Cd) in the presence of polyethylene microplastics (PE-MPs) with different particle sizes (13, 48, 150 μm) were investigated, to explore the related mechanisms with the help of scanning electron microscopy-X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results showed that the effect of PE-MPs on soil adsorption of Cd2+ was manifested as inhibiting the adsorption of Cd2+ and promoting the desorption of Cd2+; this effect was more obvious when the dose of PE-MPs was higher or the particle size was larger. Regardless of the presence or absence of PE-MPs, the sorption process of Cd2+ by soil was more consistent with quasi-secondary kinetics and the Freundlich model, indicating that the processes were multilayer sorption controlled mainly by chemisorption. The adsorption mechanism of Cd2+ by soil is mainly surface complexation and precipitation. PE-MPs can cover the active sites on the soil surface and interfere with the interaction of Cd2+ with oxygen-containing functional groups in the soil, thus weakening the chemisorption of Cd2+ by soil. It can be seen that PE-MPs can enhance the mobility of Cd in soil and increase the risk of Cd pollution to the soil ecosystem. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

All solid-state electrolytes have the advantages of good mechanical and thermal properties for safer energy storage, but their energy density has been limited by low ionic conductivity and large interfacial resistance caused by the poor Li+ transport kinetics due to the solid–solid contacts between the electrodes and the solid-state electrolytes. Herein, a novel gel polymer electrolyte (UPP-5) composed of ionic liquid incorporated metal-organic frameworks nanoparticles (IL@MOFs) is designed, it exhibits satisfying electrochemical performances, consisting of an excellent electrochemical stability window (5.5 V) and an improved Li+ transference number of 0.52. Moreover, the Li/UPP-5/LiFePO4 full cells present an ultra-stable cycling performance at 0.2C for over 100 cycles almost without any decay in capacities.
