Abstract

The kinetics and mechanism of the reaction of SIV (SO32−+HSO3−) with a ruthenium(VI) nitrido complex, [(L)RuVI(N)(OH2)]+ (RuVIN, L= N,N′-bis(salicylidene)- o-cyclohexyldiamine dianion), in aqueous acidic solutions are reported. The kinetic results are consistent with parallel pathways involving oxidation of HSO3− and SO32− by RuVIN. A deuterium isotope effect of 4.7 is observed in the HSO3− pathway. Based on experimental results and DFT calculations the proposed mechanism involves concerted N−S bond formation (partial N-atom transfer) between RuVIN and HSO3− and H+ transfer from HSO3− to a H2O molecule. Abstract

Background Accumulating evidences demonstrate that abnormalities in whole blood viscosity (WBV) have been implicated in insulin resistance which may lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, epidemiological studies exploring the association between WBV and NAFLD were not available. Objective Our objective was to evaluate the association between WBV levels and risk of prevalent NAFLD. Design This was a cross-sectional population-based study performed in Shanghai, China. Patients A total of 8673 participants aged 40 years or older were included. Measurements WBV was calculated from haematocrit and plasma protein concentration, at a shear rate of 208-1 s, by a validated equation. NAFLD was diagnosed by hepatic ultrasound after the exclusion of alcohol abuse and other liver diseases. Insulin resistance (IR) was assessed by homeostasis model assessment (HOMA-IR). Results The overall prevalence of NAFLD was 30.2% in this population. With the increase of WBV level, participants have larger waist circumference (WC), more severe insulin resistance and the prevalence of NAFLD increased significantly with elevated WBV quartiles. Compared with those in the lowest quartiles, adults in the highest quartile of WBV levels have higher prevalence of NAFLD (adjusted odds ratio 1.77, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.48 2.13) and IR (2.72, 95% CI 2.26 3.27). Conclusions Elevated WBV is associated with prevalence of NAFLD and IR in middle-aged and elderly Chinese population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Knowledge of phosphorus (P) components in water is vital to understanding the biogeochemistry of the P cycle, but little information is available about P, especially organic P components in water. We used solution P nuclear magnetic resonance technology (P NMR) to characterize the classes of dissolved and particulate P compounds, as well as their spatial variation, in eutrophic Lake Taihu, Eastern China. Results showed that orthophosphate and monoesters were the dominant components in dissolved and particulate P. The main difference between the classes of dissolved and particulate P compounds was that phosphonate was detected in dissolved P, whereas pyrophosphate was mainly found in particulate P. The proportions of various classes of P compounds in particulate total P were relatively stable, which may be partly attributed to phytoplankton. In dissolved total P (DTP), the proportions of orthophosphate and monoester varied substantially and were significantly correlated with DTP concentration. According to the source of P and the ratios of dominant classes of P compounds in dissolved and particulate P, the dissolved orthophosphate may be substantially influenced by pollution sources, and other P compounds are mainly controlled by biological transformation processes. Abstract

Background: The molecular bases for parathyroid carcinomas present in conjunction with sporadic primary hyperparathyroidism are not fully elucidated. Gene copy number variations (CNVs) play an important role in tumorigenesis. The aim of the current study was to explore whether the CNVs of specific tumor-associated genes are involved in parathyroid carcinogenesis. Methods: A multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification method was used to compare differences in copy number in 39 common tumor-associated genes among 7 patients with parathyroid carcinoma and 14 age- and sex-matched subjects with parathyroid adenoma. Results: It was shown that amplification of CCND1, a gene encoding cyclin D1, was more prevalent in parathyroid carcinomas than in adenomas (71 vs. 21 %, p = 0.056). This result was confirmed quantitatively by real-time polymerase chain reaction. Expression of CCND1 mRNA level was significantly higher in carcinomas than in adenomas ( p = 0.003). Western blot and immunohistochemical analysis also demonstrated higher expression of CCND1 in carcinoma specimens than in adenoma samples. Conclusions: It is thus inferred that gain in copy number of CCND1 is implicated in the molecular pathogenesis of parathyroid carcinoma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

5-10nmPt-Ag nanoparticles were synthesized by Water thermal reduction, pluronic F127 and tetraethyl Orthosilicate (TEOS) have been used to synthesized mesoporous SiO2 template. Pt-Ag nanoparticles have been absorbed onto the surface of mesoporous SiO2. Finally, PtAg/mesoporous SiO2 nanocomposites have been modified on the surface of glass carbon electrode to prepared electrochemcial sensor which used to detect 2,4,6-dinitrophenol. In order to optimize experimental conditions, the synergistic reaction, buffer solution has been studied. The result show, when the potential at-0.404V, 2,4,6-dinitrophenol could be determined with a detection limit of 0.163μmol/L and linearity between 0.49-1667μmol/L . This sensor has high sensitivity, good reproducibility and stability.

Abstract

The article discusses a research on the expression of P26- P40 fusion protein of Mycoplasma ovipneumonia (Y-98) and its immunogenicity. It was cloned by polymerase chain reaction based on gene sequence of P30 and P46 of Mycoplasma Hyopneumoniae. It mentions that with the help of western blotting, it was concluded that all the proteins had good reactionogenicity and it gives the foundation for preparing genetic engineering vaccines for prevention and treatment of Mycoplasma ovi pneumoniae.
