244. Temperature tunable infrared optical parametric generation based on periodically poled MgO:LiNbO3 crystals.

Abstract

By using a short-pulse field, periodically poled grating (A = 29 μm) was successfully fabricated in a 1.0 mm-thick MgO:LiNbO3 (mole fraction of doped MgO is 5%). A high-repetition-rate optical parametric generation (OPG) based on periodically poled MgO:LiNbO3 (PPMgLN) was pumped by a 1.064 μm acousto-optically Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser. With 3 W of input pump power, 44 mW of output signal power was obtained at a conversion efficiency of 1.5%. Tunable infrared (IR) output from 1.4538–1.4750 μm was also obtained by tuning the temperature of PPMgLN, which is 45°C–160°C. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

249. Simplified transformation circle theory in analyzing a laser resonator

Abstract

Transformation circle theory is simpler than other methods for analyzing laser resonators. In our analysis only σ circles and simple mathematical knowledge are used to analyze the stability and calculate the parameters of the laser resonator, which further simplifies the transformation theory. The results agree well with the well-known matrix theory. Two- and three-mirror (including a thermal lens) laser resonators are used as examples to present the stability formula and the Gaussian beam dimensions at the mirrors. Furthermore, we apply the commonly used example in which the laser medium is close to the cavity mirror.

250. Influence of composition on the photorefractive centers in pure LiNbO3 at low light intensity

Abstract

The influence of composition on the photorefractive effect in pure LiNbO3 crystals at low light intensity was investigated. The experimental results indicate that different defects dominate the photorefractive centers of pure LiNbO3 with various compositions. Bipolarons are considered to be responsible for the enhanced photovoltaic field in reduced near-stoichiometric LiNbO3, and their bulk photovoltaic constant κ is estimated to be ∼6.95×10^−32 m^3/V. Q polarons (composed of two bipolarons) are introduced to explain the photorefractive effect of congruent LiNbO3 at both low and high light intensities.
