This study investigated the principals' communication styles and school culture in vocational colleges in Selangor. A total of 244 teachers involved in this study. Data was collected using Google Form due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This study adapted questionnaires known as "Principals' Communication Styles Questionnaire for Teachers" (PCSQT) and Revised School Culture Element Questionnaire (RSCEQ) and employed a correlational research design. The findings revealed that most of the dominant communication styles practiced by the principals at vocational colleges in Selangor was assertive communication style. The results also showed that the level of school culture at vocational colleges in Selangor was high based on three factors which are shared leadership and vision, collegial teaching and learning, and professional commitment. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was used to investigate the relationship between principals' communication styles and school culture. The results showed a moderately significant relationship between principals' communication styles and school culture at vocational colleges in Selangor. In short, when principals are proven to be good role models for teachers, it is also important to enhance on the effective communication with useful tools and application for a highly needed leadership competency to enable them to work with teachers of varying characteristics.

The mosque is the Muslim community's place of worship and education. Regular worship occurs according to a timetable. However, educational activities require quite a long time, so the mosque management schedules learning activities periodically. In addition, mosque congregations have a very high diversity and density of activities, especially mosque congregations in urban areas. The management of urban mosques has difficulty organizing learning consistently because the congregation has difficulty meeting at the same time periodically. This paper offers a solution by teaching with a hybrid learning method between project learning and peer teaching. Projects are created based on the needs of the environment and the congregation. The project development team is formed from worshipers who can work on projects. Other congregants receive knowledge through the project development team when the project is in the process of being created and run. This hybrid learning was experimented with by creating an aquaponics project. Aquaponics is operated with solar electricity. The project development team consists of a congregation of children to parents. The project has successfully transferred knowledge to the project development team members. The project operation attracts non-team worshippers to discuss independently with team members. Some non-team members have developed fish farming independently.

To obtain a more appealing wood coating with lighter color, bleaching treatment was employed. Bleached and unbleached bio-polyurethane (PU) coating was prepared using liquefied bamboo and was applied to rubberwood. The coated wood surface was examined for adhesion, scratch, abrasion, impact, and resistance to common household chemicals. The results revealed that the bleaching of liquefied bamboo exerted mixed effects on the finishing properties of the bio-PU coating. Specifically, the surface coated with unbleached bio-PU coating exhibited noticeably higher levels of scratch and impact resistance compared to the surface coated with bleached bio-PU coating. However, both the adhesion and abrasion properties were found to be similar in both cases. Both bleached and unbleached bio-PU coating exhibited similar resistance to various household chemicals, with exception of acetic acid. This research demonstrated a method for producing semi-transparent bio-PU from bamboo biomass for use in wood coating. Bleaching treatment is feasible to produce light-colored coating without significantly affecting the finishing properties of the bio-PU coating.

Abstract The installation of sand screens in open-hole completions in the wellbore is crucial for managing sand production. The main reason for using standalone screens in open-hole completions is their relatively reduced operational complexity compared to other sand control technologies. However, directly applying the screen to the bottom of the hole can lead to an incorrect screen type selection, resulting in an unreliable sand control method. To address this issue, a sand retention test is conducted to evaluate the performance of a standalone screen before field installation. Nevertheless, current sand retention test setups encounter several challenges. These include difficulties in identifying minimum retention requirements, interpreting results in the context of field conditions, and replicating field-specific parameters. The existing sand retention test introduces uncertainties, such as inaccurately replicating field requirements, inconsistent selection of wetting fluids, flow rates, and channel formation, leading to variations in the choice of the optimal screen using this test. In response to these challenges, this study aims to review the sand retention test and propose an improved sand retention method to overcome these problems. The focus of this article is to provide an in-depth analysis of previous sand retention test setups, their contributions to characterizing sand screens, and the parameters utilized in determining test outcomes. Additionally, this review outlines a procedure to investigate the impact of different particle sizes on screen erosion. Key findings emphasize the importance of using high-quality materials, proper screen design to resist damage and erosion, achieving acceptable natural packing behind the screen, and considering factors such as geology, wellbore conditions, and installation techniques. The analysis reveals that a high quantity of finer and poorly sorted sand increases sand production. The study recommends performing a sand pack test closer to reservoir conditions for better evaluation. Premium sand screens demonstrate the highest retention capacity, followed by metal mesh and wire-wrapped screens. Additionally, geotextiles show potential for enhancing sand retention, and screen design affects erosion resistance and service life.

This article aimed to analyze the consistency of the Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) in using Istiṣlāḥ (public interest) as a method for legal determination when issuing fatwas. There were fatwas where the use of Istiṣlāḥ was very evident with the goal of safeguarding human lives, while in other fatwas, the opposite seemed to be the case. The objective of this study was to analyze the background of the emergence of fatwas and the consistency of MUI in using Istiṣlāḥ. This article is a normative legal study with an usul al-fiqh (principles of Islamic jurisprudence) approach. The data used represented secondary data in the form of Fatwa No. 14 of 2020 and Circular No.: Kep-1702/DP MUI/IX/2020 as the primary legal materials. Other legal materials, such as books and scholarly articles, were also used. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively using the techniques of reduction, display, and verification. The research results indicated the following: first, the emergence of both ijtihad products was caused by two conflicting government objectives; the desire to prohibit gatherings during worship and the desire to allow gatherings during regional elections. Second, these fatwas and circulars demonstrated inconsistency in the use of Istiṣlāḥ. In Fatwa No. 14 of 2020, MUI showed consistency in using Istiṣlāḥ. On the other hand, MUI appeared inconsistent in using the same method even though the primary goals of both ijtihad products were the same, preventing the spread of Covid-19 through mass gatherings.

Site selection is one of the main activities in technical system planning to achieve the best design and location of the power plant. Improper site selection methods tend to increase the construction cost, create difficulties in securing primary energy sources, and cause inefficient electricity distribution. The earlier civil site selection process using the scoring method adopted by several utility companies still had some disadvantages that required improvement. This study aimed to propose and test a civil site selection method based on the economic Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) that combines Geographical Information System (GIS), Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Value Based Decision (VBD) simultaneously and based on the collaborative assessment of several engineers. The study investigated Kupang GEPP 40 MW with five alternative locations using the Expert Choice 11 tool to determine the weight of the criteria, alternative locations rating, and the weight of the cost estimate based on GIS data. The analysis revealed that only alternative 1 and alternative 5 are considered feasible. Alternative 5, Panaf, emerges as the most favorable site for Kupang GEPP with a value of 7.087. Further research has been suggested to include more detailed data for site selection.

A traffic accident is an unexpected and inadvertent road event involving a vehicle with or without other road users that results in human injuries and possibly property damage. This study identifies and analyses the characteristics of Indonesian and Malaysian road traffic incidents. The method used was the identification of crash data coordinates and the Equivalent Accident Number (EAN) score per road segment. Accident characteristics are based on the type of road traffic accident, and collision is the most common type of accident. Speed data of two vehicles, cars and motorcycles, was collected through the test driver method by using the same vehicles for cars and motorcycles and following their normal driving habits. From the analysis results, some factors causing accidents on the Bekasi Narogong Road Section are the lack of traffic signs, road surface conditions, and lack of clear road markings. While on the FT050 Johor federal road, every kilometre per segment and along the segment, motorcycles are faster than cars in terms of speed.

Various studies on F. carica focusing on the analysis and validation of its pharmacological and nutritional properties are emerging. This paper summarizes present data and information on the phytochemical, nutritional values, therapeutic potential, as well as the toxicity profile of F. carica. An extensive search was conducted from various databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and Google Scholar. A total of 126 studies and articles related to F. carica that were published between 1999 and 2023 were included in this review. Remarkably, F. carica exhibits a diverse array of advantageous effects, including, but not limited to, antioxidant, anti-neurodegenerative, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, antiepileptic, anticonvulsant, anti-hyperlipidemic, anti-angiogenic, antidiabetic, anti-cancer, and antimutagenic properties. Among the highlights include that antioxidants from F. carica were demonstrated to inhibit cholinesterase, potentially protecting neurons in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions. The antimicrobial activities of F. carica were attributed to its high flavonoids and terpenoids content, while its virucidal action through the inhibition of DNA and RNA replication was postulated due to its triterpenes content. Inflammatory and arthritic conditions may also benefit from its anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic properties through the modulation of various signalling proteins. Studies have also shown that F. carica extracts were generally safe and exhibit low toxicity profile, although more research in this aspect is required, specifically its effects on the skin. In conclusion, this study highlights the potential of F. carica as a valuable natural therapeutic agent and dietary supplement. However, continued exploration on F. carica’s safety and efficacy is still required prior to embarking on clinical trials, as its role in personalized nutrition and medication will open a new paradigm to improve health outcomes.Keywords: antioxidant, dietary supplement, fig, natural compound, phytochemical

Abstract Background Giant sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCTs) are at risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality due to their high vascularity. Pre-operative embolization of the feeding arteries, prior to complete surgical resection, may assist in minimizing the intraoperative blood loss by occluding these feeding arteries. Case presentation We present a case of a highly vascular giant SCT in a neonate, which was successfully embolized through an endovascular approach prior to surgery. The femoral artery approach was chosen, with access established using a Micropuncture introducer as a sheath. Embolization was performed using a combination of microcoils, Gelfoam slurry, and polyvinyl alcohol particles. The patient developed femoral artery spasm post-procedure, which resolved with the application of a glyceryl trinitrate patch. Conclusions Performing pre-operative endovascular embolization on a giant sacrococcygeal teratoma presents particular challenges, primarily due to the difficulty in assessing small vessels and the potential complications associated with this procedure. Nevertheless, this technique proves exceptionally valuable in helping the surgeon minimize blood loss during surgery, thereby reducing the risks of morbidity and mortality. Comprehensive planning for the embolization procedure is essential, encompassing the identification of potential vascular access points and alternatives, along with careful selection of the appropriate catheter.

Demographic data, chemotherapy and antiemetic regimens, dosages, and patient-related risk factors were collected via direct interviews, medical records, and treatment charts. This study evaluated the consistency of antiemetic practices among non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) patients using the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines. The chi-squared test and regression were used to determine the factors associated with guideline consistency.Results: A total of 251 patients with NHL were recruited for the study; 57.4% were male and 60.6% were aged between 18– 49. Most of the patients received moderately emetogenic chemotherapy (81.3%). The overall consistency with the NCCN guidelines was only 23.9%, with antiemetic drug selection and dosage reported inconsistently in 62.9% and 16.7% of patients, respectively. Furthermore, 62.5% of the patients received an under-prescribed antiemetic prophylactic regimen. Treatment duration, number of chemotherapy cycles, emetogenic risk potential, and overall patient risk, as well as age, sex, and marital status, were significantly associated with guideline inconsistency (p < 0.05).Conclusion: This study revealed a notable gap in the consistency of antiemetic prescriptions among patients with NHL. Inappropriate drug selection, dosing, and under-prescription are common problems. Patient regimen risk factors significantly influenced the consistency of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines. Extreme poverty has become a global issue,and several studies indicate its relationship with disability. So far, there has been limited studies related to extreme poverty in Indonesia. Moreover, spesific segments, such as extreme poverty in persons with disabilities, are increasingly challenging to find. This study examines the effect of disability and other control variables on extreme poverty in Indonesia. The data is derived from the 2020 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas), which surveyed 1,258,328 individuals. The data was processed using STATA 17 software. The method used in this study is logistic regression by observing disability as the primary independent variable and other socio-demographic variables as control variables. Our analysis show that disability has a positive and significant relationship with extreme poverty. Control variables such as residence area, age group, sex, education, number of household members, marital status, and employment sector also play a role in influencing extreme individual poverty. These findings are expected to be able to enrich literature related to disability and extreme poverty in Indonesia as well as to provide input for the government in efforts to eradicate extreme poverty by paying attention to vulnerable groups,especially persons with disabilities.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the physical properties of Indonesian local sheep skin collagen extracted by acid and enzymatic methods. Materials and Methods: Collagen was isolated from Pure Breed Garut Sheep (Ovis aries sp.) skin, 1.5 years old. The skins were obtained from a local slaughterhouse in Cirebon, Indonesia. The solvents used were CH3COOH and three different enzymes: neutrase, alcalase, and bromelain. Results: The highest yields of extracted collagen were bromelain-soluble collagen (BSC), which reached 37.07%. The range of Ph values for all samples started from 4.01 to 4.76. The viscosity values (cP) of acid-soluble collagen (ASC), neutrase-soluble collagen (NSC), alcalase-soluble collagen (LSC), and BSC were 3.42, 3.90, 3.45, and 3.12, respectively. Regarding SDS-PAGE analyses, Garut sheepskin collagen is categorized as collagen type I, which has a molecular weight of about 140.99 to 148.74 kDa for α1 and around 110 to 111.86 kDa for α2. The results of FTIR and DSC analyses for all samples show the same motif with commercial collagen motifs based on the literature. Conclusion: Garut sheep skin has the potential to be an alternative raw material source for producing collagen. Collagen extracted using a combination of CH3COOH and bromelain enzyme showed the most desirable results in almost every characteristic. [J Adv Vet Anim Res 2024; 11(3.000): 722-728]

Effective instruction is a determinant of success in learning Arabic. With it, learning objectives can be achieved more quickly and are more enjoyable, whereas without them, learning objectives will take longer and tend to be boring. Slavin offers a theory in determining whether learning can be assessed as effective or not, namely by Quality of Instruction, Appropriate Levels of Instruction, Incentive, and Time (QAIT). Therefore, researchers want to know whether learning at Madrasah Miftahul Ulum Angsokah Timur Madura is effective or not by analyzing it with the theory offered by Slavin. This research uses qualitative methods and includes field research. The data collection uses interviews and observations which will then be analyzed using the Miles and Huberman models. The results of this research show that learning at Madrasah Miftahul Ulum Angsokah Timur Madura is effective on one side and less effective on the other side based on Slavin theory, namely effective on the incentive and time side and not on the quality and appropriateness side.
