223. Rational Design of GO-Modified Fe3O4/SiO2Nanoparticles with Combined Rhenium-188 and Gambogic Acid for Magnetic Target Therapy

Abstract

Peanutlike magnetic-fluorescent Fe3O4/SiO2nanoparticles, with an effective dynamic diameter of 180 nm, were synthesized via EuO+doping and coupling of two Fe3O4cores and reassembling through the solvothermal process. Spherical pure Fe3O4/SiO2nanoparticles with an effective dynamic diameter of 230 nm were also prepared for comparison. We designed graphene oxide (GO)-modified core–shell Fe3O4/SiO2nanoparticles as a nanocarrier for loading gambogic acid (GA) following labeling with radioisotope rhenium-188. We also performed GA loading and releasing on GA-loaded magnetic nanoparticles, in vivo biodistribution, and magnetic drug targeting therapy experiments. Results indicated that the GA-loaded magnetic nanoparticles demonstrate a clear pH-dependent drug release behavior, having a higher release rate in acidic environments. The in vivo biodistribution of the magnetic nanoparticles has morphologic dependency, and the peanutlike nanoparticles (PN-Fe3O4) tend to accumulate more in the spleen, lung, and liver than in the spherical nanoparticles (S-Fe3O4). The targeted therapy showed a higher efficacy of PN-Fe3O4in inhibiting tumor cell growth than the nontargeted therapy. The polyethyleneimine (PEI) grafting of PN-Fe3O4with amide bond was also designed to find an effective active targeting antitumor agent considering the fact that the PEI–GO conjugate has a higher GA load efficiency and the convergence effect.

Abstract

Abstract. The cadmium borophosphate compound Cd3[B2P4O14(OH)4] was synthesized under mild hydrothermal conditions. The crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction [triclinic, space group P $\bar{1}$ (no. 2), a = 5.4362(11) Å, b = 8.2190(16) Å, c = 8.3918(17) Å, and α = 111.87(3)°, β = 104.63(3)°, γ = 90.73(3)°, V = 334.29(12) Å3 and Z = 1]. The 3D open framework of the title compound is constructed from BO3(OH) tetrahedra and 2D layers along the [100] direction. The resulting framework contains twisted eight-membered rings that form 1D channels. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

250. Late Quaternary strata and carbon burial records in the Yellow River delta, China.

Abstract

Sediment carbon sequestration plays an essential role in mitigating atmospheric CO increases and the subsequently global greenhouse effect. To clarify the late Quaternary strata and carbon burial records in Yellow River delta (YRD), detailed analysis of benthic foraminifera, total carbon (TC), organic carbon (C), sedimentary characteristics and moisture contents of sediments, was performed on core ZK3, 30.3 m in length and obtained from YRD in 2007. Eight depositional units (designated U1-U8 in ascending order) were identified. A comprehensive analysis method of historical geography and sedimentary geology was used to determine the precise depositional ages of the modern Yellow River delta (MYRD), from which pre-MYRD ages were deduced. The results indicates that the maximum burial rates of TC, inorganic carbon (IC) and Corg occurred in the delta front (U5), and the minimum in the shallow sea (U3). Remarkable high sedimentation rates in the MYRD are responsible for burial efficiency of carbon, with an average rate of C burial reaching 2087±251 g (m yr), and that of IC reaching 13741±808 g (m yr), which are much higher than those of other regions with high contents of C.
