Utilizing the scales theory of electromagnetic theory, the anisotropic dielectric material is reconstructed into an isotropic medium. The analytic expressions of scattering field and the scattering breadth for an anisotropic material cylinder are first presented. Their validities are checked theoretically. The influences induced by the dielectric constant tensor etc. on the scattering breadth are simulated. The results show that the scatterings both in the forward direction and vertical direction to the incident direction are strong. The dielectric constant in the polarizing direction has a biggish effect on scattering field. The mechanism of results is presented.

Equivalent rotation of tree can change the cost-effective of tree operation, which can reduce operating complexity of tree elements by consuming a little space. Through analyzing rotation transformation between any two binary trees deeply and introducing PRAM model, a kind of rotation transformation parallel algorithm about binary tree based on PRAM model is put forward in the paper. The algorithm parallel process is described and verified with an application instance in detail.

It is utilized the morphology filter and self-adaptive genetic algorithm to present the morphology filter with selfoptimized genetic algorithms (MFGA) for detecting IR image signature of the target. According to training the structuring element from original image data, some constraint conditions such as the prior knowledge and statistics laws , we summarize a judgment rule on finding out the best of structuring elements. As two special applications about IR image signature of the detections, one is detected solid thruster plume IR image and the other is weak-small infrared target under complex background. Compared the experimental results of the MFGA with those of the morphology filter (MF), we find that the MFGA has high convergence speed, greatly enhanced the Signal Noise ratio of target detection and effectively detecting target from complex background. And the experimental results and methods have a great significance in aerial forecasting and space defense.

Interstitial cell migration through extracellular matrix is a hallmark of the inflammation response, tumor invasion, and metastasis. We have established a stable zebrafish transgenic line expressing enhanced GFP under the lysozyme C promoter for visualizing and measuring primitive macrophage migration in vivo. We show that tissue-resident primitive macrophages migrate rapidly through extracellular matrix to the site of acute injury induced by tail transection. Mechanistically, the specific inhibition of JNK, but not p38 and ERK, dramatically abolished the chemotactic migration in a dose-dependent manner, suppressing the trauma-induced recruitment of phosphorylated C-Jun transcription factor to proximal AP-1 sites in the promoter of matrix metalloproteinase 13 (mmp13), a gene specifically expressed in primitive macrophages during embryogenesis and required for the interstitial migration. Furthermore, dexamethasone suppressed the trauma-induced JNK phosphorylation and macrophage migration accompanied by simultaneous up-regulation of mkp-1, a well-known phosphatase capable of inactivating phosphorylated JNK. The results indicate that the JNK-Mmp13 signaling pathway plays an essential role in regulating the innate immune cell migration in response to severe injury in vivo.

The EEN (extra eleven nineteen) gene is one of the fusion partners of mixed-lineage leukemia, located on chromosome 19p13. Here we cloned two een genes (designated as eena and eenb) in zebrafish, which are assigned to linkage groups 8 and 2, respectively. Whole-mount in situ hybridization assay showed that eena and eenb have overlapping but distinct expression patterns during embryogenesis. Ubiquitous or targeted overexpression of eena, but not eenb, into wild-type or transgenic embryos (green fluorescent protein-labeled myeloid progenitors) induced a significant proliferation and ectopic distribution of myeloid progenitors in the yolk sac. Using a morpholino antisense gene knockdown approach, we showed that the number of myeloid progenitors and their downstream mature myelomonocytic cells was significantly decreased in the eena- deficient embryos. Mechanistically, overexpression of eena selectively stimulated ERK phosphorylation and increased the level of transcription factor c-Fos in vitro and in vivo, whereas eena lacking the Src homology 3 domain completely abolished these effects. Furthermore, a MAPK/ERK kinase (MEK) inhibitor, PD98059, blocked the eena-induced cell proliferation and activation of ERK signaling. The results suggest that eena plays an important role in the development of the myeloid cell through activation of the ERK pathway and may provide a valuable reference for future studies of the role of EEN in leukemogenesis.

The laser scattering characteristic of spheroidal interstellar dust moving with a high speed is investigated numerically. The coordinate and vector transformations have been presented to establish a theoretic basis for studying the laser scattering of a moving spheroidal interstellar dust. The laser differential scattered section (DSS) of a moving spheroidal interstellar dust is explained by the electric and magnetic field from Mie scattering theory in detail. Assuming the laser length of 2.2 mum, we had computed the ratio of the laser DSS of the moving spheroidal interstellar dust to that of the static interstellar dust, which changes with radii and scattering angles of the particle. The numerical results showed that the laser DSS of the moving spherical particle is tightly connected with its speed and scattering zenith angle. If a spheroidal interstellar dust moves with high speed, it has a strong forward scattering .The speed of the moving spheroidal interstellar dust is higher, the laser DSS value is larger. If a spheroidal interstellar dust moves with a low speed, the Influence of a high-speed spheroidal interstellar dust's movement on its scattering characteristics will be neglected.

Speech endpoint detection continues to be a challenging problem particularly for speech recognition in noisy environments. The most popular existing detection method is the simple energy detector which performs adequately for clean speech. Problems arise in noisy environments for low energy phonemes at the endpoints. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm based on the theory of fractals and chaos, which is used widely in nonlinear time series analysis techniques. In this proposed method, we applied KC computation complexity into the speech endpoint detection, to achieve excellent overall results. In particular this method is able to reliably detect the onset and offset of speech even for low SNR.

The magnetic field of spherical particle is deduced under plane wave incidence according to the Mie scattering theory in this paper. Built coordinate systems, one coordinate system relatively moves along y- axle from another static coordinate system. The spherical particle lies in the moving coordinate system. The coordinates and vectors' transformation are presented to establish a theoretic basis for studying the laser scattering of a particle because of moving effect. The scattering amplitude function and differential scattered section of moving spherical particle are given by the electric and magnetic field from Mie scattering theory. We obtain the differential scattered section of a spherical particle with arbitrary velocity. Under 1.06 mum laser wavelength, we compute the differential ratio between the laser differential scattered section (DSS) of moving dielectric spherical particle and that of the static medium spherical particle change with their dimensions and speeds. The numerical results show that the laser DSS of moving spherical particle is smaller than that of static spherical particle, the speed of the moving particle is higher, the laser DSS of the moving particle is smaller, the refractive index of particle is a marked factor to impact the laser DSS of moving medium spherical particle.

Resistin is a newly identified adipocyte secreted hormone belonging to a cysteine-rich protein family. It is expressed in white adipose tissues in rodents and has also been found in several other tissues in human. Insulin, glucose, many cytokines and anti-diabetic thiazolidinediones are regulators of resistin gene expression. Resistin was firstly proposed to be involved in insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Recently, it was found to be relevant to inflammation and inflammation-related diseases like atherosclerosis and arthritis.

Resveratrol (3,5,4'-trihydroxystilbene) (RV) is a constituent of grape seeds with anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities. In this study, we examined the capacity of RV to modulate the function of G protein-coupled chemoattractant receptors, which play important roles in inflammation and immune responses. RV, over a non-cytotoxic concentration range, inhibited chemotactic and calcium mobilization responses of phagocytic cells to selected chemoattractants. At low micromolar concentrations, RV potently reduced superoxide anion production by phagocytic leukocytes in response to the bacterial chemotactic peptide fMLF, a high affinity ligand for formylpeptide receptor FPR, and A beta42, an Alzheimer's disease-associated peptide and a ligand for the FPR variant FPRL1. In addition, RV reduced phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK1/2) and the activation of nuclear factor NF-kappaB induced by formylpeptide receptor agonists. These results suggest that the inhibition of the function of chemoattractant receptors may contribute to the anti-inflammatory properties of RV. Thus, RV may be therapeutically promising for diseases in which activation of formylpeptide receptors contributes to the pathogenic processes.

Mucinl (MUC1) promoter has been cloned from the 5' flanking region of the MUC1 gene in breast carcinoma, functionally characterized and applied in gene therapy of breast and esophageal carcinoma. In the present study, we amplified a 786 base pair (bp) MUC1 promoter by two-step nest PCR, and identified the activity and tumor-specificity using an enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) gene as a reporter gene by fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry analysis in Panc-1, primary normal pancreatic (PNPC), and cervical cancer HeLa cell lines. Subsequently, the human somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (hSSTR2) gene driven by MUC1 promoter was cloned into the pAdTrack to produce recombinant adenovirus AdMUC1-hSSTR2. The anticancer effect of AdMUC1-hSSTR2 was determined in Panc-1. The results demonstrated that there was no AdMUC1-hSSTR2-induced apoptosis, but a significant cell proliferation inhibition even without somatostatin (SST) analogue Octreotide, involved in the up-regulation of the cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitors p21 and p27. Moreover, the anticancer effect could not be augmented by the addition of Octreotide, revealing a mechanism that was independent from induction of Octreotide. Therefore, this adenovirus system can be used as a novel, potent and specific tool for gene-targeting therapy in the MUC 1 positive pancreatic carcinoma as shown in Panc-1.

In this study we developed the transposon-mediated shuttle vector 'Hanpvid', which composed of HaNPV (Heliothis armigera nuclear polyhedrosis virus) genomic DNA and a transposon cassette from Bacmid of Bac-to-Bac system. Hanpvid replicates in E. coli in the same way as Bacmid and retains infective function in cotton bollworm cells (Hz-AM1). Using Hanpvid we constructed a recombinant virus, which could infect Hz-AM1 cells and generate recombinant HaNPV (rHa-Bar) containing the barnase gene, a ribonuclease gene from Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. Since the expression vector carrying barnase gene cannot replicate in the absence of barstar, a specific inhibitor of barnase, we constructed a new cotton bollworm cell line (AM1-NB) using the marker rescue method. In AM1-NB barstar was integrated into the cellular chromosome to sustain the replication of rHa-Bar. To screen out recombinant HaNPV for potential use as biopesticide, Hz-AM1 and AM1-NB cell lines were infected with rHa-Bar, respectively. The results obtained indicate that Viral progenies in AM1-NB were 23 and 160 times greater than those in Hz-AM1 48 h and 72 h after infection, respectively. With additional insertion of the polyhedron gene from AcNPV (Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus) into the Hanpvid genome, rHa-Bar regained the polyhedron phenotype and its pest-killing rate greatly improved. Toxic analysis showed that the lethal dosages (LD(50)) and the lethal time(s) (LT(50)) of rHa-Bar were reduced by 20 % and 30 %, respectively, compared to wt-HaNPV in the third instar larvae of cotton bollworm. This study shows that in AM1-NB barnase can be effectively produced and used as pest-killing agent for the biological control of cotton pests.

Inhibition of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) has lead to important pharmacological tools to treat atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) has emerged as a central negative regulator of RAS by degrading angiotensin (Ang) II to generate Ang-(1-7).

Based on the orthogonalities of the vector wave functions, the expressions of scattering fields are developed as the particle in the zero order field and in the first order fields of x, y, and z, respectively. A general relation between the expansion coefficients of scattering field and incident field is presented. Taking the elliptical beam for example, the scattering property of a particle in beam is investigated. After analyzing the effects of the beam waist, irradiating distance, etc. on scattering property, the validity of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated. Results show that the beam waist may improve the particle identification property and the particle has a strong scattering both in the forward direction and in the backward direction. The method proposed is simple and is a new way of researching the scattering from particles in electromagnetic beams.

Based on laser radar equations, a Doppler shift model of a laser pulse beam scattered by a rotating arbitrary convex target is reported in this paper. The boundary relations between an incident pulse beam and the detected area elements are analyzed by geometric methods. The Doppler shift characteristics of the rotating cone and cylinder are discussed and the difference between the laser pulse beam and the plane wave scattered from the same rotating target is compared accordingly. Numerical simulations show that the Doppler shift is tightly relevant to their dimensions, speeds, and so on. In the same incidence conditions, the pulse beam and plane wave have difference peak values and the same Doppler shift bandwidth. If the waist radius of the pulse beam is larger, the peak value is higher, and the Doppler shifts are proportional to the speed of the rotating target. By virtue of our theoretical model, we probe into the scattered characteristics of the Doppler shifts of a laser pulse beam, which would benefit target identification in national defense.
