The acquisition of dormancy capabilities has enabled plants to survive in adverse terrestrial environmental conditions. Dormancy accumulation and release is coupled with light signaling, which is well studied in Arabidopsis, but it is unclear in the distant nonvascular relative. We study the characteristics and function on dormancy regulation of a blue light receptor cryptochrome in Marchantia polymorpha (MpCRY). Here, we identified MpCRY via bioinformatics and mutant complement analysis. The biochemical characteristics were assessed by multiple protein-binding assays. The function of MpCRY in gemma dormancy was clarified by overexpression and mutation of MpCRY, and its mechanism was analyzed via RNA sequencing and quantitative PCR analyses associated with hormone treatment. We found that the unique MpCRY protein in M. polymorpha undergoes both blue light-promoted interaction with itself (self-interaction) and blue light-dependent phosphorylation. MpCRY has the specific characteristics of blue light-induced nuclear localization and degradation. We further demonstrated that MpCRY transcriptionally represses abscisic acid (ABA) signaling-related gene expression to suppress gemma dormancy, which is dependent on blue light signaling. Background: As the dominant species of Stomatopoda, Oratosquilla oratoria has not been fully cultivated artificially, and the fishery production mainly depends on marine fishing. Due to the lack of stomatopod genome, the development of molecular breeding of mantis shrimps still lags behind., Methods and Results: A survey analysis was performed to obtain the genome size, GC content and heterozygosity ratio in order to provide a fundation for subsequent whole-genome sequencing. The results showed that the estimated genome size of the O. oratoria was about 2.56 G, and the heterozygosity ratio was 1.81%, indicating that it is a complex genome. Then the sequencing data was preliminarily assembled with k-mer = 51 by SOAPdenovo software to obtain a genome size of 3.01G and GC content of 40.37%. According to ReapeatMasker and RepeatModerler analysis, the percentage of repeats in O. oratoria was 45.23% in the total genome, similar to 44% in Survey analysis. The MISA tool was used to analyze the simple sequence repeat (SSR) characteristics of genome sequences including Oratosquilla oratoria, Macrobrachium nipponense, Fenneropenaeus chinensis, Eriocheir japonica sinensis, Scylla paramamosain and Paralithodes platypus. All crustacean genomes showed similar SSRs characteristics, with the highest proportion of di-nucleotide repeat sequences. And AC/GT and AGG/CCT repeats were the main types of di-nucleotide and tri-nucleotide repeats in O. oratoria., Conclusion: This study provided a reference for the genome assembly and annotation of the O. oratoria, and also provided a theoretical basis for the development of molecular markers of O. oratoria., (© 2023. Ionic liquids (ILs) have been widely used in transition metal-catalyzed processes, but the precise behavior of ILs and catalysts in these reactions is unknown. Herein, the role of ILs and the interaction pattern between Shvo's catalyst and ILs have been revealed with characterization by 1 H NMR and crystallography based on the catalytic hydrogenation of CO 2 . ILs promote the dissociation of Shvo's catalyst and enhance the rate of production of CO. The CO that is produced is subsequently used in the tandem hydroformylation-reduction of alkenes to produce valuable alcohols. In the absence of ILs, formamides can be obtained by N -formylation of most primary or secondary amines.

In recent years, the prevalence of metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) has reached pandemic proportions as a leading cause of liver fibrosis worldwide. However, the stage of liver fibrosis is associated with an increased risk of severe liver-related and cardiovascular events and is the strongest predictor of mortality in MAFLD patients. More and more people believe that MAFLD is a multifactorial disease with multiple pathways are involved in promoting the progression of liver fibrosis. Numerous drug targets and drugs have been explored for various anti-fibrosis pathways. The treatment of single medicines is brutal to obtain satisfactory results, so the strategies of multi-drug combination therapies have attracted increasing attention. Albumin is derived from blood plasma and is the most abundant protein in blood plasma, which has good mechanical properties, biocompatibility and degradability, so albumin is an ideal biomaterial for biomedical applications, and drug-carriers based on albumin can better reduce the cytotoxicity of drug. Currently, there are numerous reviews summarizing the research progress on drug-loaded albumin molecules or nanoparticles. In comparison, the study of albumin-based hydrogels is a relatively small area of research, and few articles have systematically summarized the research progress of albumin-based hydrogels, especially for drug delivery and tissue engineering. A diploid genome in the Saccharum complex facilitates our understanding of evolution in the highly polyploid Saccharum genus. Here we have generated a complete, gap-free genome assembly of Erianthus rufipilus, a diploid species within the Saccharum complex. The complete assembly revealed that centromere satellite homogenization was accompanied by the insertions of Gypsy retrotransposons, which drove centromere diversification. An overall low rate of gene transcription was observed in the palaeo-duplicated chromosome EruChr05 similar to other grasses, which might be regulated by methylation patterns mediated by homologous 24 nt small RNAs, and potentially mediating the functions of many nucleotide-binding site genes. Sequencing data for 211 accessions in the Saccharum complex indicated that Saccharum probably originated in the trans-Himalayan region from a diploid ancestor (x = 10) around 1.9-2.5 million years ago. As the primary type of liver cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) causes a large number of deaths every year. Despite extensive research conducted on this disease, the prognosis of HCC remains unclear. Recently, research has largely focused on extracellular vesicles (EVs), and they have been found to participate in various ways in the development of various diseases, including HCC, such as by regulating cell signaling pathways. However, recent studies have reported the mechanisms underlying the regulation of Wnt signaling by EVs in HCC, primarily focusing on the regulation of the canonical pathways. This review summarizes the current literature on the regulation of Wnt signaling by EVs in HCC and their underlying mechanisms. In addition, we also present future research directions in this field. This will deepen the understanding of HCC and provide new ideas for its treatment.

In recent times, there has been a surge in interest in the impact of diet and physical activity on human health, with the goal of expanding lifespan and enhancing the quality of life. This has Light-emitting diode (LED) to interventions centered on incorporating healthy foods, including fresh sprouts, which are rich in antioxidant compounds and beneficial phytonutrients for human consumption. Various factors, such as temperature, nutritional solution, and types of light quality and intensity, can influence the nutritional value of sprouts. This study evaluates the impact of LED light with red-blue-ultraviolet (6:3:1; R:B:UV) and three levels of intensity (control, 120, and 150 μmol/m 2 s -1 ) on five different sprout species, namely wheat, barley, mung bean, alfalfa, and soybean, after seven days of germination. The research investigates the effects on various parameters, including photosynthetic pigments (chlorophylls a , b , total), carotenoid, activities of antioxidant enzymes such as catalase, superoxide dismutase, and soluble proteins, soluble sugars, starch, vitamin C, and element content such as potassium, iron, and phosphorus. The results indicate that the LED treatments and increasing light intensity significantly improve the physiological and antioxidant properties of edible sprouts, with the 150 μmol/m 2 s -1 treatment producing the most beneficial outcomes. Additionally, increasing light intensity reduces starch content while enhancing the content of photosynthetic pigments, soluble carbohydrates, vitamin C, element concentration, antioxidant enzymes, and soluble proteins. Among the five species of edible sprouts, barley had the highest content of photosynthetic pigments, while soybean and mung beans had the lowest content. Mung beans and alfalfa had the highest and lowest concentrations of potassium and iron, respectively. A novel and green method for the synthesis of 3-thiocyanatobenzothiophenes via electrochemical-oxidation promoted difunctionalization of active alkyne has been developed. In this protocol, inexpensive and easily available potassium thiocyanate was chosen as the thiocyanation reagent, 2-alkynylthioanisoles as the substrates, a variety of 3-thiocyanatobenzothiophenes were obtained in moderate to good yields under oxidant- and catalyst-free conditions. Copper cobalt sulfide (CuCo 2 S 4 ) nanomaterials are regarded as promising electrode materials for high-performance supercapacitors due to their abundant redox states and considerable theoretical capacities. However, the intrinsic poor electrical conductivity, sluggish reaction kinetics and insufficient number of electroactive sites of these materials are huge barriers to realize their practical applications. In this study, a facile two-step strategy to engineer a hierarchical 3D porous CuCo 2 S 4 /MXene composite electrode is presented for enhanced storage properties. This well-constructed CuCo 2 S 4 /MXene composite not only provides abundant active sites for the faradaic reaction, but also offers more efficient pathways for rapid electron/ion transport and restricts the volumetric expansion during the charge/discharge process. When evaluated in a 3 M KOH electrolyte, the CuCo 2 S 4 /MXene-3 electrode exhibits a specific capacity of 1351.6 C g -1 at 1 A g -1 while retaining excellent cycling stability (95.2% capacity retention at 6 A g -1 after 10 000 cycles). Additionally, the solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) CuCo 2 S 4 /MXene//AC device displays an energy density of 78.1 W h kg -1 and a power density of 800.7 W kg -1 . Two ASC devices connected in series can illuminate a blue LED indicator for more than 20 min, demonstrating promising prospects for practical applications. These electrochemical properties indicate that the high-performance CuCo 2 S 4 /MXene composites are promising electrode materials for advanced asymmetric supercapacitors.

Background: Water shortage caused by global warming seriously affects the yield and quality of vegetable crops. β-carotene, the lipid-soluble natural product with important pharmacological value, is abundant in celery. Transcription factor MYB family extensively disperses in plants and plays regulatory roles in carotenoid metabolism and water scarcity response., Results: Here, the AgMYB5 gene encoding 196 amino acids was amplified from celery cv. 'Jinnanshiqin'. In celery, the expression of AgMYB5 exhibited transactivation activity, tissue specificity, and drought-condition responsiveness. Further analysis proved that ectopic expression of AgMYB5 increased β-carotene content and promoted drought tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana. Moreover, AgMYB5 expression promoted β-carotene biosynthesis by triggering the expression of AtCRTISO and AtLCYB, which in turn increased antioxidant enzyme activities, and led to the decreased contents of H 2 O 2 and MDA, and the inhibition of O 2 - generation. Meanwhile, β-carotene accumulation promoted endogenous ABA biosynthesis of transgenic Arabidopsis, which resulted in ABA-induced stomatal closing and delayed water loss. Fluorene (Flu) occurs widely in various environments and its toxicity to organisms is well-known. However, the impact of Flu on complicated biochemical processes involving functional microbial community has been reported rarely. In this study, the facilitation of Flu on the volatile fatty acids (VFAs) generation executed by acidogenic microbial population during sludge acidogenic fermentation (37 °C, SRT = 8 d, pH = 10.0) was investigated. The accumulation of VFAs (particularly acetic acid) increased initially and then declined with the increasing of Flu concentration (0-500 mg/kg dry sludge), which reached a maximum (3211.1 mg COD/L) as Flu content was 200 mg/kg dry sludge. The Flu-enhanced VFAs production was primarily attributed to the shift of hydrolysis/acidification, as well as the corresponding functional microbial community and the activity of enzymes. Based on the metagenomics analysis, the conversion of organic substrates, i.e. amino acid and monosaccharide, into VFAs embraced in hydrolysis/acidification shaped by Flu was constructed at the genetic level. The relative abundances of genes included in aminotransfer and deamination process of amino acid and glycolysis of monosaccharide into VFA-precursors (pyruvate, acetyl-CoA and propionyl-CoA), and the further formation of VFAs were improved due to the Flu presence. Microplastics might affect the nitrogen (N)-use efficiency, crop production, and reactive N losses in agricultural system. However, it remains unclear whether the effects are dependent on crop cultivar. Here, a pot experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of a typical polyethylene (PE) microplastics addition on grain yield and amino acid content, N-use efficiency, ammonia (NH 3 ) volatilization and nitrous oxide (N 2 O) emission, and properties of paddy soil planted with common rice Nangeng 5055 (NG) and hybrid rice Jiafengyou 6 (JFY). The results showed that PE addition significantly reduced the grain yield and total grain amino acid content of hybrid rice by 23% and 1.7%, respectively. In addition, PE addition significantly decreased the N agronomic and recovery efficiencies of hybrid rice by 30% and 27%, respectively. For paddy soil in which hybrid rice was grown, PE addition significantly increased NH 3 volatilization by 72%, but exerted no influence on N 2 O emission. Interestingly, the N 2 O emission from NG+PE treatment was 15% significantly lower than that from NG treatment, which was associated with decreased gene copies of nirK (by 50%) and nirS (by 84%) in NG+PE treatment. Generally, no significant change in soil properties was found as result of microplastics addition regardless of the cultivar. To resolve and reconstruct phylogenetic relationships within Pyraloidea based on molecular data, the mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) was widely applied to understand phylogenetic relations at different taxonomic levels. In this research, a complete mitogenome of Cydalima perspectalis was recorded, and the phylogenetic position of C. perspectalis was inferred based on the sequence in combination with other available sequence data. According to the research, the circular mitochondrial genome is 15,180 bp in length. It contains 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), 13 typical protein-coding genes (PCGs), and a non-coding control region. The arrangement of a gene of the C. perspectalis mitogenome is not the same as the putative ancestral arthropod mitogenome. All of the PCGs are initiated by ATN codons, except for the cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 ( cox1 ) gene, which is undertaken by CGA. Five genes have incomplete stop codons that contain only 'T'. All tRNA genes display a typical clover-leaf structure of mitochondrial tRNA, except for trnS1 (AGN). The control region contained an 'ATAGG(A)'-like motif followed by a poly-T stretch. Based on the mitochondrial data, phylogenetic analysis within Pyraloidea was carried out using Bayesian inference (BI) and maximum likelihood (ML) analyses. Phylogenetic analysis showed that C. perspectalis is more closely related to Pygospila tyres within Spilomelinae than those of Crambidae and Pyraloidea.

Chitinase is a kind of glycoside hydrolase which is widely distributed in nature and encoded by multiple genes to catalyze the decomposition of chitin, which plays an important role in the molting and pathogen defense of crustaceans. However, the research on chitinase in crustaceans is mainly focused on a few species with economic value. In this study, full-length cDNA sequences of the HtCHT1 , HtCHT3 and HtCHT4 genes were cloned from the mudflat crab Helice tientsinensis by RACE, and the sequences were analyzed. The results showed that the full-length 2,229 bp of HtCHT1 gene encoded 627 amino acids, while the full-length 2,191 bp of HtCHT3 gene produced 489 amino acids, and the full-length 3,312 bp of HtCHT4 gene encoded 664 amino acids. Bioinformatics analysis showed that all the obtained chitinase proteins had the glycosyl hydrolase family 18 (GH18) catalytic domain and chitin-binding domain (ChtBD2), furthermore, HtCHT1 and HtCHT4 proteins had signal peptide domains at N-terminal. Phylogenetic analysis showed that different types of chitinase were clustered, and HtCHTs were closely related to chitinases in the Eriocheir sinensis . Expression profile analysis showed that the HtCHT1 , HtCHT3 and HtCHT4 were significantly expressed in hepatopancreas. Furthermore, the expression of three genes was significantly up-regulated in hepatopancreas after the Vibrio parahaemolyticus challenge. These results suggested that HtCHT1 , HtCHT3 and HtCHT4 were belonged to the CHITINASE gene family in H. tientsinensis and were potentially involved in the antibacterial immune response. Pandemic plastics (e.g., masks, gloves, aprons, and sanitizer bottles) are global consequences of COVID-19 pandemic-infected waste, which has increased significantly throughout the world. These hazardous wastes play an important role in environmental pollution and indirectly spread COVID-19. Predicting the environmental impacts of these wastes can be used to provide situational management, conduct control procedures, and reduce the COVID-19 effects. In this regard, the presented study attempted to provide a deep learning-based predictive model for forecasting the expansion of the pandemic plastic in the megacities of Iran. As a methodology, a database was gathered from February 27, 2020, to October 10, 2021, for COVID-19 spread and personal protective equipment usage in this period. The dataset was trained and validated using training (80%) and testing (20%) datasets by a deep neural network (DNN) procedure to forecast pandemic plastic pollution. Performance of the DNN-based model is controlled by the confusion matrix, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and justified by the k-nearest neighbours, decision tree, random forests, support vector machines, Gaussian naïve Bayes, logistic regression, and multilayer perceptron methods. According to the comparative modelling results, the DNN-based model was found to predict more accurately than other methods and have a significant predominance over others with a lower errors rate (MSE = 0.024, RMSE = 0.027, MAPE = 0.025). The Omicron pandemic broke out in Shanghai in March 2022, and some infected people spread to some cities in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region. To achieve the dynamic zero-COVID target as soon as possible, Shanghai and nine cities that were heavily affected by Shanghai implemented the lockdown measures. This paper aims to quantify the impact of the lockdown on air quality and human health. A difference-in-difference (DID) model was first used to measure the impact of the lockdown on air quality in these ten cities. Based on the results of the DID model, we estimated the PM 2.5 -related health and economic benefits using the concentration-response function and the value of statistical life method. Results showed that the lockdown has reduced the concentrations of PM 2.5 , PM 10 , SO 2 , NO 2 , and CO by 9.87 μg/m 3 , 17.31 μg/m 3 , 0.75 μg/m 3 , 9.03 μg/m 3 , and 0.07 mg/m 3 , respectively. The number of avoided premature deaths due to PM 2.5 reduction was estimated to be 35,342. The resulting economic benefits totaled 18.86 billion US dollars. We investigated the reasons for the air quality improvement in these ten cities and found the "3 + 11" policy has had a great impact on air quality. Compared with the first COVID-19 lockdown in early 2020, the effect of the lockdown in 2022 was smaller. These findings demonstrated that reductions in anthropogenic emissions would achieve substantial air quality improvement and health benefits. Zinc corrosion and dendrite formation are the main issues which impede the performance of aqueous zinc ion batteries (ZIBs) after certain times. In this work, we systematically investigated the effects of three different valence ions (e. g., Na + , Mg 2+ , Al 3+ ) as electrolyte additives on the suppression of zinc corrosion and the inhibition of dendrite growth. By combining experiments and theoretical calculations, it has been found that the existence of Na + ions effectively suppressing the zinc dendrite growth because Na + possessess high adsorption energy approximately -0.39 eV. Moreover, Na + ions could lengthen the zinc dendrite formation duration up to 500 h. On the other hand, the PANI/ZMO cathode materials showed the small band gap approximately 0.097 eV, signifying that the PANI/ZMO possessed the semiconductor characteristics. Furthermore, an assembled Zn//PANI/ZMO/GNP full battery using Na + ions as electrolyte additive displayed capacity retention of 90.2 % after 500 cycles at 0.2 A g -1 , whereas the capacity retention of the control battery using pure ZnSO 4 electrolyte was only 58.2 %. Terrestrial mosses are tracers for studying atmospheric trace metal deposition and pollution. Here, Al, Fe, Zn, Mn, Ba, Cu, V, Cr, Pb, Ni, Co, and Cd concentrations in mosses from Huai'an, China, were measured to investigate their contamination level, spatial distribution, and sources. The average concentration of all the metals (except Ni) was much higher than those in Albania, a "hotspot" of toxic metal contamination in Europe. The pollution degree of the metals varied significantly: moderate contamination by Al, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cr, V, and Cd; slight contamination by Ba, Cu, Ni, and Pb; and suspected contamination by Co. Based on the Nemerow index (P N ), only 8% of the moss samples were graded as moderate pollution, while the remaining 92% were rated as heavy pollution, with Cd and Zn contributing the most. The potential ecological risk index (RI) indicated a moderate potential ecological risk from the metals in Huai'an, with the atmosphere most heavily polluted by Cd. Further, the positive matrix factorization (PMF) model was applied to confirm the metal contamination sources and allocate their source contributions in Huai'an mosses. The results showed that the source contributions of industrial activities related to metal smelting, textile dyestuff and agricultural activities, mining development, natural source, and coal burning and traffic emission accounted for 28.86%, 20.29%, 19.83%, 17.98%, and 13.04%, respectively., (© 2022. Although studies have reported the association of two insertion/deletion (indel) polymorphisms in the 3'-untranslated region (UTR) of the RTN4 gene with the risk of tumorigenesis, the findings are inconsistent and require further explanation. Comprehensive literature searches were undertaken in Pubmed, Embase, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and WangFang database. The risk of tumorigenesis was determined using odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) based on STATA 12.0 software. A total of four case-control studies with 1214 patients and 1850 controls focused on the RTN4 gene TATC/- polymorphism and five case-control studies with 1625 patients and 2321 controls on the RTN4 gene CAA/- polymorphism. Pooled analysis showed that the TATC/- polymorphism was not associated with the risk of tumorigenesis under all genetic models and the CAA/- polymorphism was significantly associated with the risk of tumorigenesis under the homozygote genetic model (Del/Del vs. Ins/Ins: OR=1.32, 95%CI=1.04-1.68, P=0.02). In conclusion, the current findings suggested that the CAA/- polymorphism in the 3'-UTR of the RTN4 gene was significantly associated with the risk of tumorigenesis in the Chinese population and may serve as a valuable marker for predicting tumor risk.

Okra ( Abelmoschus esculentus L.) is a particular vegetable with both edible and medicinal values. However, the expression pattern of the okra reference genes in response to abiotic stress has not been explored. In the present study, 18 potential reference genes were selected from okra in various tissues and abiotic stress conditions, and their expression levels were detected by Real-Time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). Their expression stabilities were calculated by four algorithms (geNorm, NormFinder, BestKeeper, and RefFinder). Under cold stress, the most stable genes included GAPC1 and CYP (leaf), CYP and ACT7 (root), HIS6 and GAPC1 (stem), and HIS6 and 60s (different tissues). Under salt stress, EF-1α and UBQ (leaf), EF-1α and UBQ (root), TUA4 and Eif (stem), and HIS6 and Eif (different tissues) were the most stable genes. Under drought stress, UBQ and Eif in the leaf, HIS6 and Eif in the root, TUA4 and HIS6 in the stem, and UBQ and Eif in different tissues were most stably expressed in okra. In addition, complete sequencing results by RefFinder showed that HIS6 and ACT7 in the leaf, HIS6 and Eif in the root, UBC5B and 60s in the stem, and HIS6 and Eif in different tissues, were most the suitable reference genes for okra. Furthermore, AeMYB1R1 transcription factor was used to verify the reliability of RT-qPCR values. In summary, this study was carried out to demonstrate the potential reference genes of okra under abiotic stress, aiming to provide a molecular basis for functional gene analysis and regulatory mechanism research of okra.

Rapid urban development poses a threat to global biodiversity. At the same time, urban green spaces offer opportunities for holding biodiversity in cities. Among biological communities, the soil fauna plays a crucial role in ecological processes but is often ignored. Understanding the effects of environmental factors on soil fauna is critical for ecological conservation in urban areas. In this study, five typical green space habitats were selected including bamboo grove, forest, garden, grassland, and wasteland in spring, for detecting the relationship between habitats and Armadillidium vulgare population characteristics in Yancheng, China. Results indicate that soil water content, pH, soil organic matter, and soil total carbon varied significantly among habitats, as well as the body length and body weight of pill bugs. The higher proportion of larger pill bugs was found in the wasteland and the lower proportion in the grassland and the bamboo grove. The body length of pill bugs was positively related to pH. Soil total carbon, soil organic matter, and the number of plant species were correlated with the body weight of pill bugs.

Objective: TP73-AS1 can promote the occurrence and development of a variety of tumors, including colorectal cancer (CRC). The current study aimed to investigate the association between a potentially functional genetic polymorphism (rs3737589 T > C) on the TP73-AS1 gene and the susceptibility and clinical stage of CRC in a Chinese Han population., Methods: The polymorphic genotyping was performed by the SNaPshot method. The real-time quantitative PCR method and the luciferase assay were used separately to explore genotype-tissue expression and the function of the genetic polymorphism., Results: A total of 576 CRC patients and 896 healthy controls were included in the current study. The rs3737589 polymorphism was not associated with CRC susceptibility but was associated with the CRC stage (CC vs. TT: OR = 0.25, 95% CI = 0.12 - 0.54, P =0.0003; C vs. T: OR = 0.69, 95% CI = 0.53-0.89, P =0.006; and CC vs. (TC + TT): OR = 0.26, 95% CI = 0.12-0.56, P =0.0004). CRC patients carrying the rs3737589 CC genotype or C allele were less likely to have stage III/IV tumors than those carrying the rs3737589 TT genotype or T allele. The expression of TP73-AS1 was lower in CRC tissues with the rs3737589 CC genotype compared to those with the TT genotype. A novel fluorescent probe L consisting of β-Cyclodextrin (β-CD) and thiosemicarbazide moieties was designed for copper ions detection. Apparent fluorescence quenching of probe L in Tris-HCl（pH = 7.4）solution was observed only in the presence of Cu 2+ , among other interfering ions. The present probe L was 1:1 complexed with Cu 2+ and the detection limit of probe L was calculated to be 1.37 μM. The induction of seed dormancy and its release involve a finely regulated genetic program controlled by various environmental and developmental cues that are critical for plant survival and population expansion. Light plays a key role in seed dormancy and germination, but the molecular mechanisms underlying the control of dormancy are unclear. In the present study, high-resolution temporal RNA-seq in Arabidopsis identified WOX11 as encoding a hub transcription factor during the seed dormancy induction and release stages. This gene might have evolved from gymnosperms and expanded in angiosperms with highly conserved expression patterns in seeds. WOX11 and its homolog WOX12 were highly expressed from 2 d after pollination, and mRNA abundance was greatly increased during the seed dormancy induction and release stages. Further, we found that WOX11 plays a role in the regulation of seed dormancy downstream of phytochrome B (PHYB)-mediated red-light signaling during the induction stage, indicating that WOX11/12 are newly identified components of red-light signaling transduction. Taken together, our results suggest that WOX11/12-mediated PHYB signaling regulates seed dormancy in Arabidopsis, and provide insights into the developmental regulation and evolutionary adaptation of plants to changes in the light environment., (© The Author(s) 2022. Background: Waterlogging is one of the major abiotic stresses in barley and greatly reduces grain yield and quality. To explore the mechanism controlling waterlogging tolerance in barley, physiological, anatomical and transcriptional analyses were performed in two contrasting barley varieties, viz. Franklin (susceptible) and TX9425 (tolerant)., Results: Compared to Franklin, TX9425 had more adventitious roots and aerenchymas and higher antioxidant enzyme activities. A total of 3064 and 5693 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified in TX9425 after 24 h and 72 h of waterlogging treatment, respectively, while 2297 and 8462 DEGs were identified in Franklin. The results suggested that TX9425 was less affected by waterlogging stress after 72 h of treatment. The DEGs were enriched mainly in energy metabolism, hormone regulation, reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging, and cell wall-modifying enzymes. Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) plays an important role in response to waterlogging stress. We found that HvADH4 was significantly upregulated under waterlogging stress in TX9425. Transgenic Arabidopsis overexpressing HvADH4 displayed higher activity of antioxidant enzymes and was more tolerant to waterlogging than the wild type (WT)., Conclusions: The current results provide valuable information that will be of great value for the exploration of new candidate genes for molecular breeding of waterlogging tolerance in barley., (© 2023. The complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) contributed crucial information, which could improve the better understanding of molecular phylogenetic analysis, evolution, and gene rearrangements. However, only a few Coenobitidae and Albuneidae mitogenomes have been described, and controversies about the Anomuran phylogeny remain. Here, we determined three Coenobitidae species (Coenobita perlatus, Coenobita rugosus, Coenobita clypeatus) and one Albuneidae species (Emerita talpoida). As the representative species of genera or families, and even the first species of the genus, supplementing these four species is essential to study the phylogenetic relationships within Anomura. Most of the four novel mitogenomes have the typical 37 genes, except for E. talpoida, which lacked trnF. Through combining these new data with 31 Anomuran mitogenomes from Genbank, different gene rearrangement patterns and internal phylogenetic relationships of Anomura were investigated. In our phylogeny analysis, all the Anomuran species were clustered into one group, and the polyphyly of Paguroidea was well supported. Moreover, various peculiar mitochondrial gene orders (MGOs) were summarized among Anomura and preliminary determined their rearrangement mechanisms through CREx. Twenty different MGOs were suggested in our research, and we were focused seven MGO patterns (Pattern A-J) in the process of discussing the gene rearrangement mechanism. Bubble-droplet interaction is essential in the gas-flotation technique employed in wastewater treatment. However, due to the limitations of experimental methods, the details of the fluid flow involved have not been fully understood. Therefore, a phase field model for a three-phase flow was developed to study the rise of a single bubble and bubble-droplet interactions. The fluid-fluid interfaces are tracked by the Cahn-Hilliard equation, which is coupled with the Navier-Stokes equations with an equivalent volumetric force substituted for interfacial tensions. The model was discretized using an explicit finite difference method on a half staggered grid, and the pressure velocity coupling was tackled using the projection method. The in-house code was written in Fortran and run with the help of OpenMP, a shared memory parallelism. The model was validated against experiments with gratifying agreement achieved. Challenges exist in the validating procedure and comprehensiveness of the existing TSE measurements, though advancements have been achieved. Also, less consistencies have been received regarding teacher self-efficacy measurement in Chinese context so that the study developed and validated a new comprehensive scale for this construct. A total of 854 Chinese pre-service teachers responded to 40 purposely selected teacher self-efficacy items, together with the Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale, the agreeableness subscale of the Big Five Inventory, and items on their effectiveness of teaching practicing and intention to be a teacher. Exploratory factor analyses revealed two distinct factors, one factor (Ethos) focused on the general school climate, harmony, and cooperation, as well as teachers' own professional development, the other (Teaching) focused on aspects of classrooms and student learning. Confirmatory and second-order factor analysis supported the existence of two factors and also indicated one overarching construct of teacher self-efficacy. Both domains were significantly correlated with general self-efficacy and agreeableness, with either moderate or low correlations. Significant differences in teacher self-efficacy for Ethos and Teaching were found between pre-service teachers who reported higher levels of effectiveness during their professional placement and greater intention to be teachers compared to those with lower self-ratings. In addition, a 20-item short version of the scale was developed, and the same factorial structure was confirmed. This study validated the two-factor structure of a newly developed teacher self-efficacy scale that covers domains both within and outside classroom teaching. The yellow catfish ( Pelteobagrus fulvidraco ) is a freshwater fish with high economic value in eastern China. Nevertheless, pathogens causing bacterial diseases in P. fulvidraco have brought about huge economic loss and high mortality in artificial aquaculture. For disease control, it is critical to further understand the immune system of yellow catfish and immune-related genes with which they respond to pathogenic infections. In this study, high-throughput sequencing methods were used to analyze the transcriptomic spectrum of the head kidney from P. fulvidraco challenged by Vibrio cholera . A total of 45,544 unique transcript fragments (unigenes) were acquired after assembly and annotation, with an average length of 1,373 bp. Additionally, 674 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified after stimulation with V. cholerae , 353 and 321 genes were identified as remarkably up- or downregulated, respectively. To further study the immune-related DEGs, we performed KEGG enrichment and GO enrichment. The results showed gene regulation of response to stimulus, immune response, immune system progress, response to external stimuli and cellular response to stimuli. Analysis of KEGG enrichment is important to identify chief immune related pathways. Real-time quantitative reverse transcription-PCR (qRT-PCR) results indicated 10 immune response genes that were found to be upregulated compared to a control group after 6 h of V. cholerae challenging. Giardia duodenum (G. duodenalis) can cause giardiasis and infect a variety of hosts. So far, there have been no detailed data regarding the positive rate of G. duodenalis in cattle in China. Here, a systematic literature review was carried out to investigate the epidemiology of bovine G. duodenalis in China. To perform the meta-analysis, the databases China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Chinese Journal Databases, WanFang Databases, PubMed, and ScienceDirect were employed for screening studies related to the prevalence of G. duodenalis in cattle in China. The total prevalence of G. duodenalis in cattle was estimated to be 8.00% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 5.51-11.62). In the age subgroup, the prevalence of G. duodenalis in calves (11.72%; 95% CI: 7.75-17.73) was significantly higher than that in cattle of other age groups. An analysis based on seasons showed that the prevalence of G. duodenalis in cattle was higher in summer (9.69%; 95% CI: 2.66-35.30) than that in other seasons. The prevalence of G. duodenalis in cattle in 2016 or later was 11.62% (95% CI: 6.49-20.79), which was significantly higher than that before 2016 (3.65%; 95% CI: 2.17-6.12). The highest prevalence of G. duodenalis in cattle was 74.23% (95% CI: 69.76-78.45) recorded in South China. The NOAA's National Center for Environmental Information (https://gis.ncdc.noaa.gov/maps/ncei/cdo/monthly) was used to extract relevant geoclimatic data (latitude, longitude, elevation, temperature, precipitation, humidity, and climate). By analyzing the data of each subgroup, it was shown that age of cattle, sampling year, province, region, temperature, and climate were potential risk factors for giardiasis prevalence in cattle. Based on the analysis of common factors and geographical factors, it is recommended to strengthen effective management measures (e.g., ventilation and disinfection in warm and humid areas) and formulate relevant policies according to local conditions. Breeders should pay more attention to the detection of G. duodenalis in calves, to prevent giardiasis prevalence in cattle of different ages, thereby reducing the economic losses of animal husbandry in China.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) envelope protein (E) is recognized as a viroporin that plays important functions in virus budding, assembly and virulence. Our previous study found that PEDV E protein induces endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS), as well as suppresses the type I interferon (IFN) response, but their link and underlying mechanism remain obscure. To better understand this relationship, we investigated the roles of PEDV E protein-induced ERS in regulating cellular type I IFN production. Our results showed that PEDV E protein localized in the ER and triggered ERS through activation of PERK/eIF2α branch, as revealed by the up-regulated phosphorylation of PERK and eIF2α. PEDV E protein also significantly inhibited both poly(I:C)-induced and RIG-I signaling-mediated type I interferon production. The PERK/eIF2α branch of ERS activated by PEDV E protein led to the translation attenuation of RIG-I signaling-associated antiviral proteins, resulting in the suppression of type I IFN production. However, PEDV E protein had no effect on the mRNA transcription of RIG-I-associated molecules. Moreover, suppression of ERS with 4-PBA, a widely used ERS inhibitor, restored the expression of RIG-I-signaling-associated antiviral proteins and mRNA transcription of IFN-β and ISGs genes to their normal levels, suggesting that PEDV E protein blocks the production of type I IFN through inhibiting expression of antiviral proteins caused by ERS-mediated translation attenuation. Waterlogging is the primary abiotic factor that destabilizes the yield and quality of barley ( Hordeum vulgare L.). However, the genetic basis of waterlogging tolerance remains poorly understood. In this study, we conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) by involving 106,131 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with a waterlogging score (WLS) of 250 barley accessions in two years. Out of 72 SNPs that were found to be associated with WLS, 34 were detected in at least two environments. We further performed the transcriptome analysis in root samples from TX9425 (waterlogging tolerant) and Franklin (waterlogging sensitive), resulting in the identification of 5,693 and 8,462 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in these genotypes, respectively. The identified DEGs included various transcription factor (TF) genes, primarily including AP2/ERF, bZIP and MYB. By combining GWAS and RNA-seq, we identified 27 candidate genes associated with waterlogging, of which three TFs ( HvDnaJ , HvMADS and HvERF1 ) were detected in multiple treatments. Moreover, by overexpressing barley HvERF1 in Arabidopsis , the transgenic lines were detected with enhanced waterlogging tolerance. It's worth noting that detect effective methods for tracking ClO - could help us uncover the function of ClO - in living systems. Here, two coumarin-based probes, named (E)-3-(1-hydrazonoethyl)-2H-chromen-2-one (1A) and 3-((E)-1-(((E)-(2,3-dihydro-1H-imidazol-4-yl)methylene)-hydrazono)ethyl)- 2H-chromen-2-one (1B) with aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect in Tris-HCl (pH = 7.2) buffer solution were synthesized and used for sensing ClO - selectivity. 1A and 1B responded to ClO - through the oxidation hydrolysis effect. The mechanism was further verified by HR-MS and DFT calculation. To clarify how micro-LED far-field light distributions differ from Lambertian distributions owing to small-sized-structure effects, the light distribution of a micro-LED was simulated via the ray-tracing method in this study. Specifically, considering material absorption, far-field light distribution, and light-output efficiency, we studied micro-LEDs as a function of size. We found that the light distribution is the most uniform and the efficiency is the highest when the size is the smallest under certain conditions. Under other conditions, with increasing sapphire size, the luminous efficiency first increases and then decreases. The luminous efficiency is the highest when the thickness is 30 µm. Under certain other conditions, as the diameter of the micro-sphere structure on the sapphire increases, the luminous efficiency first increases and then decreases.

Herein we describe the pioneering Rh-catalyzed coupling reactions of a fluoroalkyl carbene with azides to access α-trifluoroethylated imines, where fluoroalkyl N -sulfonylhydrazones are used as fluoroalkyl diazo surrogates. Remarkably, using TMSN 3 as the N source, two C-N bond formation products were obtained. Furthermore, the α-trifluoroethylated imine products could be easily reduced to the corresponding N -trifluoroethylated anilines. Experimental results and theoretical calculations justify a stepwise reaction pathway involving the formation of rhodium carbene, the addition of HN 3 , and C═N bond formation.

Carbon (C):nitrogen (N):phosphorus (P) stoichiometry in plants, soils, and microbial biomass influences productivity and nutrient cycling in terrestrial ecosystems. Anthropogenic inputs of P to ecosystems are increasing; however, our understanding of the impacts of P addition on terrestrial ecosystem C:N:P ratios remains elusive. By conducting a meta-analysis with 1413 paired observations from 121 publications, we showed that P addition significantly decreased plant, soil, and microbial biomass N:P and C:P ratios, but had negligible effects on C:N ratios. The reductions in N:P and C:P ratios became more evident as the P application rates and experimental duration increased. The P addition effects on terrestrial ecosystem C:N:P stoichiometry did not vary with ecosystem types or climates. Moreover, the responses of N:P and C:P ratios in soil and microbial biomass were associated with the responses of soil pH and fungi:bacteria ratios. Additionally, P additions increased net primary productivity, microbial biomass, soil respiration, N mineralization, and N nitrification, but decreased ammonium and nitrate contents. Decreases in plant N:P and C:P ratios were both negatively correlated to net primary productivity and soil respiration, but positively correlated to ammonium and nitrate contents; microbial biomass, soil respiration, ammonium contents, and nitrate contents all increased with declining soil N:P and C:P ratios. Background: Nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV), one of the baculoviruses, is a promising biopesticide for pest control. Lepidopteran account for 70% of pests, therefore investigation on highly conserved genes associated with viral infections in the lepidopteran model, the silkworm, will serve as a valuable reference for improving the effectiveness of pest management. BmE74A is a member of the erythroblast transformation-specific (ETS) family of transcription factors in Bombyx mori, which we previously found to be highly conserved and closely associated with BmNPV. This study aimed to elucidate the role of BmE74A in viral infection., Results: A significantly high expression of BmE74A in eggs indicated its important role in embryonic development, as did relatively high expressions in the hemolymph and midgut. Significant differences in BmE74A expression in different resistant strains after BmNPV infection suggested its involvement as a response to viral infection. Moreover, RNA interference (RNAi) and overexpression experiments confirmed the important role of BmE74A in promoting viral infection. BmNPV infection was significantly suppressed and enhanced by BmE74A knockdown and overexpression, respectively. Besides, BmE74A was found to regulate the expression of BmMdm2 and Bmp53. Furthermore, the binding of ETS, the functional domain of BmE74A, to occlusion-derived virus proteins was confirmed by far-western blotting, and four viral proteins that may interact with ETS proteins were identified by mass spectrometry. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is one of the most important diseases that has brought significant economic losses to the swine industry worldwide. Rapid and accurate PRRS virus (PRRSV) detection is one of the key factors for PRRS prevention and control. This study developed a real-time fluorescence-based reverse transcription recombinase-aided amplification (RF-RT-RAA) method for type 2 PRRSV (PRRSV-2) detection. The RF-RT-RAA assay could be performed at 42 °C for 20 min with the optimal primers and a probe. RF-RT-RAA results could be monitored using real-time fluorescence read-out or visually observed with the naked eye using a portable blue light transilluminator. The method had a strong specificity; no cross-reaction was identified with the detected common swine viruses. Moreover, the technique yielded high sensitivity with the lowest detection limit of 10 1 copies/μL and exhibited good repeatability and reproductively with the coefficients of variation (CV) less than 10%. Eighty-seven clinical samples were tested using RF-RT-RAA and a commercial PRRSV-2 RT-qPCR detection kit. The coincidence rate was 100% between RF-RT-RAA (real-time fluorescence read-out) and RT-qPCR, and 97.7% between RF-RT-RAA (visually observed) and RT-qPCR. The RF-RT-RAA assay provides a new method for rapid and visual detection of PRRSV-2.

The binary metal oxide ZnCo 2 O 4 is considered as a potential electrode candidate for asymmetric supercapacitors due to its unique composition and battery-type features. However, its low electrical conductivity and insufficient material utilization efficiency hinder its major practical application. In this work, hierarchical polyaniline-coated ZnCo 2 O 4 nanobelts have been synthesized using an economical two-step strategy (including a hydrothermal method and an in situ polymerization route) and are investigated as a supercapacitor material. Impressively, the resulting ZnCo 2 O 4 @PANI nanobelt electrode exhibits a remarkable specific capacitance of 1938.2 F g -1 at 1 A g -1 and superior cycling performance (the capacitance retains 92.4% after cycling for 10 000 cycles at 6 A g -1 ). Furthermore, an ASC was prepared using the obtained ZnCo 2 O 4 @PANI electrode as a cathode and using active carbon (AC) as an anode. The constructed ASC delivers a high specific energy of 66.6 W h kg -1 at a specific power of 800.1 W kg -1 , and attains 92.5% capacitance retention over 10 000 cycles at 8 A g -1 , indicating its high potential for applications in the field of high-capacitance supercapacitors. These results demonstrate the great potential of ZnCo 2 O 4 @PANI nanobelts as a promising cathode material for supercapacitors.

A recently developed conservative level set model, coupled with the Navier-Stokes equations, was invoked to simulate non-spherical droplet impact in three dimensions. The advection term in the conservative level set model was tackled using the traditional central difference scheme on a half-staggered grid. The pressure velocity coupling was decoupled using the projection method. The inhouse code was written in Fortran and was run with the aid of the shared memory parallelism, OpenMP. Before conducting extensive simulations, the model was tested on meshes of varied resolutions and validated against experimental works, with satisfyingly qualitative and quantitative agreement obtained. The model was then employed to predict the impact and splashing dynamics of non-spherical droplets, with the focus on the effect of the aspect ratio. An empirical correlation of the maximum spread factor was proposed. Besides, the number of satellite droplets when splashing occurs was in reasonable agreement with a theoretical model.

Limonium Sinense (Girard) Kuntze is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb, showing blood replenishment, anti-tumour, anti-hepatitis, and immunomodulation activities amongst others. However, the mechanism of its pharmacological activities remains largely unknown. Here, we investigated the effects of bioactive ingredients from Limonium Sinense using an integrated approach. Water extracts from Limonium Sinense (LSW) showed a strong growth inhibitory effect on multiple cells in both 2D and 3D cultures. Global transcriptomic profiling and further connectivity map (CMap) analysis identified several similarly acting therapeutic candidates, including Tubulin inhibitors and hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) modulators. The effect of LSW on the cell cycle was verified with flow cytometry showing a G2/M phase arrest. Integrated analysis suggested a role for gallic acid in mediating HIF activation. Toxoplasmosis is an important zoonotic parasitic disease caused by Toxoplasma gondii ( T. gondii ). However, the functions of circRNAs and miRNAs in response to T. gondii infection in the livers of mice at acute and chronic stages remain unknown. Here, high-throughput RNA sequencing was performed for detecting the expression of circRNAs and miRNAs in livers of mice infected with 20 T. gondii cysts at the acute and chronic stages, in order to understand the potential molecular mechanisms underlying hepatic toxoplasmosis. Overall, 265 and 97 differentially expressed (DE) circRNAs were found in livers at the acute and chronic infection stages in comparison with controls, respectively. In addition, 171 and 77 DEmiRNAs were found in livers at the acute and chronic infection stages, respectively. Functional annotation showed that some immunity-related Gene ontology terms, such as "positive regulation of cytokine production", "regulation of T cell activation", and "immune receptor activity", were enriched at the two infection stages. Moreover, the pathways "Valine, leucine, and isoleucine degradation", "Fatty acid metabolism", and "Glycine, serine, and threonine metabolism" were involved in liver disease. Remarkably, DEcircRNA 6:124519352|124575359 was significantly correlated with DEmiRNAs mmu-miR-146a-5p and mmu-miR-150-5p in the network that was associated with liver immunity and pathogenesis of disease. Transition bimetallic phosphides with optimal composition and morphology are efficient electrocapacitive materials for asymmetric supercapacitors (ASCs). Herein, a unique bimetallic phosphide, NiCoP, with a hollow microcube structure, was synthesized by a sacrificial template method followed by phosphorization calcination. Impressively, the resulting nanosheet-based NiCoP hollow microcube (NiCoP-HMC) electrode exhibits a remarkable specific capacity of 1088.9 C g -1 at 1 A g -1 and superior cycling performance (the capacity remains 90.2% after cycling for 10 000 cycles at 6 A g -1 ), owing to its unique morphology, the superiority of bimetallic phosphides, and its battery type feature. Furthermore, an ASC was fabricated by using the obtained NiCoP-HMCs as the positive electrode and using active carbon (AC) as the negative electrode. The assembled ASC device delivers a high specific energy of 78.2 W h kg -1 at a specific power of 799.9 W kg -1 and has 84.8% capacity retention over 10 000 cycles at 8 A g -1 , demonstrating its great potential for applications in the field of high-capacity supercapacitors. These results illustrate NiCoP-HMCs as promising positive electrode materials for supercapacitors.

The yeast mannoproteins (MPs), a major component of yeast cell walls with large exploration potentiality, have been attracting increasing attention due to their beneficial effects. However, the information about the anti-obesogenic activity of MPs is still limited. Thus, the effects of MPs on the high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity and dysbiosis of gut microbiota were investigated in this work. The results showed that MPs could significantly attenuate the HFD-induced higher body weight, fat accumulation, liver steatosis, and damage. Simultaneously, the inflammation in HFD-induced mice was also ameliorated by MPs. The pyrosequencing analysis showed that intervention by MPs could lead to an obvious change in the structure of gut microbiota. Furthermore, the prevention of obesity by MPs is highly linked to the promotion of Parabacteroides distasonis (increased from 0.39 ± 0.12% to 2.10 ± 0.20%) and inhibition of Lactobacillus (decreased from 19.99 ± 3.94% to 2.68 ± 0.77%). Moreover, the increased level of acetate (increased from 3.28 ± 0.22 mmol/g to 7.84 ± 0.96 mmol/g) and activation of G protein-coupled receptors (GPRs) by MPs may also contribute to the prevention of obesity. This study proposes a novel method for detection of aflatoxin B 1 (AFB 1 ) in peanuts using olfactory visualization technique. First, 12 kinds of chemical dyes were selected to prepare a colorimetric sensor to assemble olfactory visualization system, which was used to collect the odor characteristic information of peanut samples. Then, genetic algorithm (GA) with back propagation neural network (BPNN) as the regressor was used to optimize the color component of the preprocessed sensor feature image. Support vector regression (SVR) quantitative analysis model was constructed by using the optimized combination of characteristic color components to achieve determination of the AFB 1 in peanuts. In this process, the optimization performance of grid search (GS) algorithm and sparrow search algorithm (SSA) on SVR parameter was compared. Compared with GS-SVR model, the model performance of SSA-SVR was better. The results showed that the SSA-SVR model with the combination of seven characteristic color components obtained the best prediction effect. Its correlation coefficients of prediction (R P ) reached 0.91. The root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) was 5.7 μg·kg -1 , and ratio performance deviation (RPD) value was 2.4. The results indicate that it is reliable to use the colorimetric sensor array with strong specificity for the determination of the AFB 1 in peanuts. In addition, it is necessary to properly optimize the parameters of the prediction model, which can obviously improve the generalization performance of the multivariable model.
