In this study, a rollover protective structure design was investigated according to its performance required for product validation. An investigation was performed by using finite element method and the acceptance criteria was taken from the OECD Code 6 standard. After performing finite element analyses in order to simulate ROPS loadings, it was found that the strength of the current ROPS design is good enough and this situation was correlated with physical tests. This situation allows to make some weight reduction studies. Firstly, an analytical optimization study performed on current ROPS design. A new ROPS design was achieved and this design was called as “Design 1”. After that, a parametric optimization study was built and newly achieved ROPS design was called as “Design - 2”. These optimization studies gave some design suggestions but the all changes in studies was not applied to new ROPS design because of some design constraints. The simulation results correlated with tests for the final design also. This study provides an effective method for virtual validation and design optimization of a rollover protective structures.

autoimmune ,progesterone ,dermatitis - Abstract
Introduction Autoimmune progesterone dermatitis (APD) is a rare autoimmune dermatosis characterized by recurrent cutaneous and mucosal lesions during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle that disappear some days after the menses. Case Report A 34-year-old primipara woman with no significant past medical history and no prior exogenous hormone use, who presented with cyclic skin eruptions starting 1 year after the delivery. The lesions occurred 6 days before the menses and disappeared in between 1 and 2 days after the menstruation ceased. The patient was diagnosed after a positive response to an intradermal test with progesterone and was successfully treated with combined oral contraceptives. The skin eruptions have not returned since the initiation of this therapy. Conclusion Dermatologists, gynecologists, and obstetricians should be aware of this rare entity. Furthermore, if this condition is suspected, a thorough history taking on the menstrual cycle and results of the intradermal progesterone test are mandatory.

GENDER differences in education ,WOMEN teachers ,TEACHERS - Abstract
The main aim of this study is to investigate the opinions of Turkish STEM teachers about the Scientist-Teacher-Student Partnership (STSP). In order to provide extra insights about the STSP, a specifically designed questionnaire developed by Malaysian researchers was used. The study consists of data collected from 301 Turkish STEM teachers who have been working in the schools. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was found out that the teachers have positive opinions about the STSP. Looking at the differences between male and female teachers, it was found that there were significant differences in teachers' scores related to the roles of teachers, students, and scientists in the STSP. According to the teachers' experiences of working with scientists or not, the results showed that teachers who do not have experience of working with scientists have a more positive opinion of this collaboration process. Turkish STEM teachers showed greater appreciation of the value of working with a scientist, especially teachers who did not have working experience with a scientist. The outcomes of this study can be used to implement the STSP as a STEM education model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Bacille Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccine may cause some cutaneous complications at the injection site. Although some of these are normal reactions, unexpected complications may be seen. Clinical features, treatment modalities and outcomes of these complications have not been clearly defined in literature. We aimed to determine the local cutaneous complications after BCG vaccine and clinical experiences in our hospital. Methods: Between May 2013 and December 2016, previously healthy children aged older than 2 months, without underlying disease or drug use history, who were admitted with localized cutaneous complications after BCG vaccine, were retrospectively analyzed. Demographic and clinical features, laboratory findings, treatments and outcomes were collected from database. Results: Twenty patients were diagnosed as having local cutaneous complications. Abscess formation (30%), localized inflammation signs (45%), purulent discharge (10%), crust (10%) and eczematous lesion (5%) were found as local cutaneous complications. Drainage was performed in 14 (70%) patients. Oral amoxicillin clavunate therapy was given to four (20%) patients due to isolating Staphylococcus aureus (2/4), Staphylococcus hominis (1/4), and Exiguobacterium aurantiacum (1/4) from the drainage or purulent discharge culture. Anti-tuberculosis drugs (isoniazid and rifampicin) were used in six (30%) patients. Five of them had positive acid-resistant bacilli, tuberculosis polymerase chain reaction or tuberculosis culture results and one (5%) patient was diagnosed as having a lupus vulgaris because histopathological examination of his lesion showed granulomatous dermatitis. In addition, there was no lesion to drain in four (20%) patients and they were followed without treatment. On follow-up, all lesions completely recovered. Conclusions: There is no still consensus about treatment of the local complication after BCG vaccine. In our study, some complications improved with conservative treatment. However, drainage, anti-tuberculosis drugs and antibiotic treatments were needed in some cases. As a result, treatment should be decided to each patien t’s clinical symptoms and underlying disease. Summary Introduction Preterm infants have risks of developing vitamin D deficiency. Thus we aimed to investigate the effect of vitamin D on hyperoxia-induced lung injury in newborn rats. Methods Full term rat pups were included in the study 12–24 hr after delivery. The pups were randomly divided into eight groups as follows: normoxia control group (NC), normoxia plus vitamin D group (ND1, 1 ng/gr/day vitamin D), normoxia plus vitamin D group (ND2, 3 ng/gr/day vitamin D), normoxia plus vitamin D group (ND3, 5 ng/gr/day vitamin D), hyperoxia control group (HC), hyperoxia plus vitamin D group (HD1, 1 ng/gr/day vitamin D), hyperoxia plus Vitamin D group (HD2, 3 ng/gr/day vitamin D), hyperoxia plus vitamin D group (HD3, 5 ng/gr/day vitamin D). The histopathological effects of vitamin D were assessed by alveolar surface area (with mean linear intercept (MLI) method), apoptosis index and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) index. Results MLI values were significantly lower among three groups (HD1: 83.93 ± 1.95 μm, HD2: 81.76 ± 1.68 μm, and HD3: 82.33 ± 1.87 μm) when compared with HC group (92.98 ± 2.09 μm) (P = 0.001, P = 0.0004, P = 0.002, respectively). Apoptotic cell index were significantly lower among three treatment groups (HD1: 1.455 ± 0.153, HD2: 0.575 ± 0.079, and HD3: 0.700 ± 0.105) when compared with HC group (2.500 ± 0.263) (P = 0.001, P = 0.001, P = 0.001, respectively). Although PCNA positive cell index did not change in HD1 group (0.132 ± 0.008) (P > 0.05), there were significant increases in HD2 (0.277 ± 0.026) and HD3 (0.266 ± 0.018) group when compared with HC group (0.142 ± 0.010) (HD2 P = 0.001, HD3 P = 0.001). Conclusion Vitamin D seems to protect hyperoxia-induced lung injury in newborn rats. Pediatr Pulmonol. 2016; 9999:XX–XX. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

- Abstract
This paper gives a summary of an ethnographic study of classroom life in a traditionally oriented village in Turkey, which focuses on modernizing role of participation structures. It will provide analyses of participation both in classroom and in the village community in order to show how traditional children struggle in classrooms due to their traditional upbringing. I will discuss how, in classroom, the children receive the treatment of ‘incompetent’ beings as if their difficulties are marked by their biological nature rather than being a result of their cultural orientation. The findings will document the consequences of such circumstances on educational lives and life chances of traditional children, on social distribution of educational attainment within the larger society, and on the modernizing role of schooling in still traditional parts of the world. The paper will conclude with remarks on the taken-for-granted tendencies of teachers and the nature of teacher education programs.

Kendi enerjisini üretenyeşil ofis ile dışarıdan enerjisini hazır olarak alan klasik ofisin enerjisarfiyatları yıllık bazda belirlenmiş ve ilk yatırım maliyetlerinden amortismansüresi ortaya konmuştur., Increased energydemand poses various challenges for energy supply security and environmentalissues for many countries. Some countries are facing greater environmentalproblems as they try to overcome this problem by addressing nuclear energy.Countries that can foresee these problems are investing in renewable energywith a broader vision. When considering Turkey’s potential in renewable energysources, energy production efficiency to be achieved from investments made arequite high. In addition to these investments, the areas where energy use can bereduced in today’s conditions should be taken into consideration. At thebeginning of these areas, the majority of the energy consumption in cities, living and working buildings are coming. Today, the concept of modern andhealthy green buildings has been created in order to reduce this energyconsumption and minimize the damage caused to buildings by the environment. Thecriteria for being a green building vary according to different certificationsystems prepared by countries. In this study; the green building certificationsystems of BREEAM and LEED which are the most well-known in Turkey and theworld, the studies related to certification systems done in Turkey is given. Inaddition, the design and cost calculations of classic and green officebuildings with 300 m2 interior space in Çekirge, Osmangazi district of Bursawere made. The energy consumption of classic office, which is ready to takeenergy from outside and green office producing its own energy, is determined onan annual basis, and the amortization period from the initial investment costshas been presented.

The interplay of culture and institutions is of high relevance for the economic well-being of societies. Identifying causality between culture and institutions, however, is difficult using field data. Trajectories based on country-specific histories can influence the adoption and the success of institutions in different societies. To investigate the causal impact of culture on the acceptance and prevalence of sanctioning institutions, we report the results of controlled lab experiments in two countries with different cultural trajectories: Germany and Turkey. We find, if a sanctioning institution is one of two alternatives that individuals can freely choose in an endogenous choice setting, then it is the clear winner against a non-sanctioning institution, both in Germany and Turkey. Though there are some differences in initial institutional preferences and contributions, the dynamics of institution choice, the evolution of contributions and sanctioning behavior are remarkably similar in both countries. This result is in contrast with previous studies which show that exogenous sanctioning institutions perform well in establishing cooperation in Germany, but substantially less so in Turkey.

After the establishment of the European Union's Emissions Trading System (EU-ETS) carbon pricing attracted many researchers. This paper aims to develop a prediction model that anticipates future carbon prices given a real-world data set. We treat the carbon pricing issue as part of big data analytics to achieve this goal. We apply three fundamental methodologies to characterize the carbon price. First method is the artificial neural network, which mimics the principle of human brain to process relevant data. As a second approach, we apply the decision tree algorithm. This algorithm is structured through making multiple binary decisions, and it is mostly used for classification. We employ two different decision tree algorithms, namely traditional and conditional, to determine the type of decision tree that gives better results in terms of prediction. Finally, we exploit the random forest, which is a more complex algorithm compared to the decision tree. Similar to the decision tree, we test both traditional and conditional random forest algorithms to analyze their performances. We use Brent crude futures, coal, electricity and natural gas prices, and DAX and S&P Clean Energy Index as explanatory variables. We analyze the variables' effects on carbon price forecasting. According to our results, S&P Clean Energy Index is the most influential variable in explaining the changes in carbon price, followed by DAX Index and coal price. Moreover, we conclude that the traditional random forest is the best algorithm based on all indicators. We provide the details of these methods and their comparisons.

In this thesis; the effects of mechanical alloying time, sintering temperature and sintering time factors on the microstructure and mechanical properties of biodegradable magnesium materials produced by powder metallurgy were investigated experimentally and statistically. Central Composite Design (CCD) method was used as the experimental design method. According to the CCD method; mechanical grinding time of 18, 36, 63, 90 and 108 hours; sintering temperature of 383, 400, 425, 450, 467 °C; sintering times of 7, 10, 15, 20, 23 minutes were determined. Compressive strength and hardness values were measured. In general, it has been observed that the increase in mechanical grinding time and sintering temperature after 36 hours of mechanical grinding causes a decrease in the density values. compressive strength increased until the mechanical grinding time was 36 hours, then decreased. It is seen that the increase of mechanical grinding time, sintering temperature and sintering time positively affect Brinell hardness values and increasing these values will provide some increase in hardness values. Test samples were investigated by optical microscope and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and analyzed by X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD).

Pelvic region ,Radiation dose ,Planning treatment - Abstract
Although radiotherapy is an important part of cancer treatment, it can cause cancer development. In the past 10 years, it has been shown that radiotherapy has a small but statistically significant contribution to the development of secondary cancers. The increase in the integral dose, which is defined as the dose taken by the tissues other than the target tissue, increases the risk of secondary cancer related to radiotherapy in long-term patients. Although the formation of secondary radiation outside the treatment area during radiotherapy is known, the differences due to the new treatment techniques have not been evaluated as dosimetric and still remain hypothetical. In this study, we aimed to measure and compare the integral dose in vivo in radiotherapy with treatment techniques (3D Conformal Radiotherapy, Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy, Intensity Modulated Arc Therapy).Thermally stimulated luminescence materials have been an important tool in measuring the ionizing radiation dose. Due to some advantages of the thermoluminescence dosimeters in the field of personal, clinical, environmental and space applications, many studies have been carried out to produce more efficient TL dosimeters in recent years. In order to do this, in-vivo dosimetry systems, TLD-100H dosimeters as a Thermoluminescent Dosimeter (TLD) was used to compare the treatment schedule with the TPS dose. Pelvic region, where high energy is used more and high dose applications are made more, is selected as the target treatment area. After special treatment planning for different treatment techniques, the volume determined in rando phantom was irradiated. In vivo dosimetry was placed in 10 localizations outside the treatment area. Doses to which the organs in the out of area areas were exposed were determined. The planned dose values of TLD dosimeters and treatment planning system (TPS) dose values were compared.

- Abstract
The beneficial effects of trans-resveratrol on health are widely accepted. However, when exposed to heat and UV light, thedegradation of trans-resveratrol to less active form cis-resveratrol limits its use in industrial applications. Due to this reason, it iscrucial to preserve the stability of trans-resveratrol by using carrier systems. This study aimed to encapsulate the trans-resveratrolin core/shell nanoparticles composed of eggshell membrane proteins and silk fibroin, respectively, using a coaxialelectrospraying technique to preserve its stability. The size of the nanoparticles ranged from 8.2 to 254 nm. Keeping theencapsulation yield at the maximum level (96.9%), electroencapsulation process parameters which minimize the average particlediameter (23.8 nm) were found to be A (silk fibroin concentration) = 30.7 mg/ml, B (ratio of flow rates) = 0.72, C (appliedvoltage) = 18.8 kV, and D (distance) = 12.2 cm. Encapsulation efficiency varied between 40.05 and 96.41%. Detection ofantioxidant capacity of released trans-resveratrol suggested that nanoparticles could be a suitable delivery system for sustainedrelease of trans-resveratrol with preserved thermal and UV photostability. Central composite design (CCD) and the responsesurface methodology (RSM) were successfully used to optimize the electroencapsulation process parameters for the preparationof trans-resveratrol loaded core/shell nanoparticles. It was found that these parameters seemed to be varied depending on theresponse required. Therefore, an optimum process should be investigated to obtain desired responses such as high encapsulationyield, high encapsulation efficiency, and small average particle size while preserving the thermal and UV stabilities at reasonablelevels.

Accepted: 04.09.2015 The aim of this study is to obtain the optimum measurement method to overcome the dosimetric problems in small field dosimetry which is very important in Intensity Modulated Radio Therapy. In this study, the relative dose factors obtained by Farmer, Semiflex, PinPoint, Marcus PP ionisation chambers and thermoluminescence dosimetry of the square fields between 1x1 15x15 cm generated by multi leaf collimator of Siemens Artiste linear accelerator (6-15 MV) were researched. For each field in d=10 cm, the measurements are performed thrice using 100 MU and averages are obtained. Same fields are created in computer treatment planning system and reference point doses are recorded. The measurement results obtained from different devices are compared. Then, relative dose factors are compared with data obtained by computer treatment planning system. In 15 MV, the data obtained by PinPoint ion chamber and thermoluminescence dosimetry were similar, but this data was higher dose response to other devices. However, all ion chambers have similar dose response in fields larger than 4x4 cm. Farmer ion chamber presents rapid dose decrease in fields smaller than 4x4 cm. As a result, usage of high resolution ion chambers and thermoluminescence dosimetry in dose efficiency measurement are shown appropriate. Furthermore, large sensitive measurement volume ion chambers such as 0.6 cm3 aren’t suitable for using absorbed dose measurement in small fields. PinPoint ion chamber is a good choice for absorbed dose measurement in small fields.
