Abstract

Adenopathy and extensive skin patch overlying a plasmacytoma (AESOP) syndrome is a rare plasma cell neoplasm with a paraneoplastic syndrome. This case report describes the 28th case of AESOP syndrome, which was associated with multiple myeloma. The patient presented with a dark red plaque on the right hypochondriac region and underwent various tests, including a PET-CT scan and biopsies, to confirm the diagnosis. The study also provides a summary of previously reported cases of AESOP syndrome, highlighting the clinical features and outcomes. AESOP syndrome is often associated with other plasma cell disorders, and the prognosis is generally favorable with appropriate treatment. [Extracted from the article]

213. Conversion of Lignin into Phenolic Monomer and Low Molecular Weight Bio-oil in Different Supercritical Solvent System.

Abstract

High-value utilization of lignin is crucial in further developing biomass refining processes and producing biofuels. In this work, lignin depolymerization was examined in different supercritical systems. The effects of reaction temperature and reaction time on various lignin depolymerization products were investigated in detail. Among them, in the supercritical ethanol/water system (50% ethanol), the β-O-4 aryl ether bonds of lignin were depolymerized into phenolic hydroxyl groups, alcoholic hydroxyl groups and alkyl groups through hydrogenation and hydrolysis reactions. The lignin intermediate fragments produced by depolymerization undergo further hydrocracking to form more low molecular weight products such as 4-alkylguaiacols. In addition, low molecular weight lignin intermediates also produced lignin oligomers and carbon solid residues (SR) through repolymerization reactions. When the reaction temperature was higher than 360 °C, the repolymerization reaction between the highly active lignin depolymerization intermediates could be promoted to form more SR products. All in all, when the reaction temperature was 300 °C, lignin was more suitable for depolymerization into phenolic monomer products during the supercritical ethanol/water system (1/1, v/v). Abstract

The inflammasome is a multimeric protein complex located in the cytoplasm that is activated by many factors and subsequently promotes the release of proinflammatory factors such as interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-18, resulting in a series of inflammatory responses that ultimately lead to the occurrence of various diseases. The Nod-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is the most characteristic type and the most widely studied among many inflammasomes. Activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome is closely related to the occurrence of many diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease. At present, a large number of studies have focused on the mechanisms underlying the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Plenty of articles have reported the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome by various ions, such as K+ and Na+ reflux and Ca2+ influx. However, few articles have reviewed the effects of various ion channels on the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and the relationship between the diseases caused by these proteins. This article mainly summarizes the relationship between intracellular and extracellular ion activities and ion channels and the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. We also provide a general summary of the diseases of each system caused by NLRP3 activation. Abstract

Objective Regulation of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in micro-RNA (miRNA) on the host cells may be one of the most important factors influencing the occurrence of cervical cancer based on the prevalence of HPV infection and the development of cervical cancer. In order to explore the contribution of miRNA polymorphism to the occurrence and development of cervical cancer, we conducted an analytical study. Methods We selected the polymorphisms of three widely studied miRNAs (miRNA-146a rs2910164, miRNA-499 rs3746444, and miRNA-196a2 rs11614913). Then, we conducted a meta-analysis (for the first time) to investigate their susceptibility to cervical cancer. Case control studies on the correlation between these three miRNAs and cervical cancer susceptibility were investigated by searching on from Pubmed, The Cochrane Library, Embase, CBM, CNKI, Wanfang database, and VIP database. Basic characteristics were recorded and meta-analysis of the case studies was performed using the STATA 15.1 software. Results The miRNA-146a rs2910164 mutation significantly reduced the risk of cervical cancer in both recessive model (OR = 0.804, 95% CI = 0.652-0.992, P = 0.042; CC vs. CG+GG) and allelic model (OR = 0.845, 95% CI = 0.721-0.991, P = 0.038; C vs. G). There was no significant correlation between miRNA-499 rs3746444 and the risk of cervical cancer. The miRNA-196a2 rs11614913 mutation was significantly associated with a reduced risk of cervical cancer in homozygous model (OR = 0.641, 95% CI = 0.447-0.919, P = 0.016; TT vs. CC), dominant model (OR = 0.795, 95% CI = 0.636-0.994, P = 0.045; CT+TT vs. CC), recessive model (OR = 0.698, 95% CI = 0.532-0.917, P = 0.01; TT vs. CC+CT), and allelic models (OR = 0.783, 95% CI = 0.643-0.954, P = 0.015, T vs. C). Conclusion In summary, this meta-analysis shows that the mutant genotypes of miRNA-146a rs2910164 and miRNA-196a2 rs11614913 are associated with a reduced risk of cervical cancer. Therefore, they may be two gene regulatory points for the prevention of cervical cancer. Systematic review registration PROSPERO registration number CRD42021270079.

Abstract

Due to their low latency, high capacity, and seamless worldwide coverage, low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites are essential to the equal access network. Stochastic geometry (SG) is an appropriate method for such a large and irregular system. The SG model can effectively assess and estimate the performance of the network as well as handle the growing network scale. In this article, a number of common satellite distribution models are examined. In the non-technical description, system-level metrics such as coverage probability are introduced. The impact of gateway density, as well as the quantity and height of satellites, on latency and likelihood of coverage, is then researched.
