A new species,Sinurothoe sinensis sp. n., belonging to the Superfamily Haustoroidea was found from the China Sea. A new genus and new family, named GenusSinurothoe and Family Sinurothoidae, are erected to accept the new species. Description of the new faxa is given in the present paper.

To investigate the effect of the overexpression of the ERbeta gene on the penile vascular endothelium of ERbeta knockout (ERbetaKO) mice and its molecular mechanisms.We randomly divided 12 ERbetaKO male mice into groups A (ERbetaKO + TNFalpha + pAdxsi-ERbeta) and B (ERbetaKO + TNFalpha + empty virus), the former treated by pAdxsi-ERbeta adenovirus transfection, the latter with empty virus, and meanwhile both injected intraperitoneally with TNFalpha at 6 microg per kg body weight per d for 14 days. Then we observed the erectile function of the mice by APO, determined the changes of the endothelial markers CD34 and vWF by immunohistochemical staining, and detected the expressions of the relevant molecules in the eNOS-NO pathway by RT-PCR, Western blot and immunohistochemistry.Compared with group B, group A showed a significantly increased number of penile erections (0.50 +/- 0.55 vs 2.17 +/- 0.41, P0.05), shortened erectile latency ([28.83 +/- 1.33] min vs [24.00 +/- 1.27] min, P0.05), enriched CD34 and vWF markers (0.67 +/- 0.52 vs 1.50 +/- 0.55 and 0.50 +/- 0.55 vs 1.33 +/- 0.52, both P0.05), elevated expressions of eNOS and Cam (RT-PCR: 1.38 +/- 0.03 vs 1.62 +/- 0.05 and 1.02 +/- 0.09 vs 1.42 +/- 0.05, both P0.05; Western blot: 1.27 +/- 0.04 vs 1.55 +/- 0.07 and 0.76 +/- 0.05 vs 0.95 +/- 0.08, both P0.05), and reduced expression of caveolin-1 (RT-PCR: 2.13 +/- 0.13 vs 1.72 +/- 0.08, P0.05; Western blot: 3.99 +/- 0.16 vs 3.40 +/- 0.14, P0.05). The results of RT-PCR were consistent with those of Western blot.The ERbeta gene protects the penile vascular endothelium via the eNOS-NO pathway.

To screen the regulatory proteins involved in Nox1 promoter activation in a cell model of inflammation and oxidative stress.A cell model of inflammation and oxidative stress was established by stimulating A549 cells with tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). The differential proteins binding to Nox1 promoter were screened by DNA pull-down and the binding proteins were separated by 2D electrophoresis and selected according to the their differential expression levels (with over 1.5-fold changes relative to the control level). The screened proteins were finally identified by MALDI-TOF/TOF-MS.Seven differentially expressed protein spots (all upregulated in the cell model) were obtained, among which GLE1, DDX19A, KRT1 and KRT10 were identified by mass spectrometry.GLE1, DDX19A, KRT1 and KRT10 participate in the activation of Nox1 promoter in TNF-α-induced A549 cells, and this result provides new insights into the biological roles of the regulatory proteins of Nox1 promoter in inflammation and oxidative stress.

With fatty acid and amino acid as raw materials, the neutral medium inhibitor was synthesized. The inhibitory performance of corrosion inhibitor for corrosion of Q235 steel in neutral water medium was investigated by weight loss method. Results showed that the inhibitor has excellent inhibition efficiency for corrosion of Q235 steel in neutral water medium; the inhibition efficiency increased with increase in inhibitor concentration, and then tend to be stable due to the inhibitors come to adsorption equilibrium in the metal surface. Using scanning electron microscope (SEM) to observe the micro corrosion morphology, and the corrosion mechanism is discussed in this article.

The superalloys Cu-Ni-Al, Cu-Ni-Fe, and Cu-Ni-Cr were studied as anodes for aluminum electrolysis. The alloys were tested for corrosion in acidic electrolyte molten salt and for oxidation in both air and oxygen. The results showed that the Cu-Ni-Al anodes possess excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion, and the oxidation rates of Cu-Ni-Fe and Cu-Ni-Al anodes were slower than those of pure copper or nickel. During electrolysis, the cell voltage of the Cu-Ni-Al anode was affected most by the concentration of alumina in cryolite molten salt. The Cu-Ni-Fe anode exhibited corrosion resistance in electrolyte molten salt. Comparatively, the Cu-Ni-Cr anode showed poor resistance to oxidation and corrosion. The testing found that further study is warranted on the use of Cu-Ni-Al and Cu-Ni-Fe as inert alloy anodes.

To observe the expression of urotensin II (UII) on the lung of patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH) with congenital heart disease and investigate the meaning of this phenomenon.Thirty eight patients with CHD were divided into three groups according to pulmonary arterial systolic pressure (PASP) measured in cardiac catheterization and surgery: normal pulmonary pressure group (N group, PASP30 mm Hg, n = 10), mild PH group (M group, PASP ≥ 30 mm Hg, n = 15), severe or moderate PH group (S group, PASP ≥ 50 mm Hg, n = 13). The expression of UII protein and UII mRNA in pulmonary arterioles were measured separately by immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis and in situ hybridization (ISH) analysis.(1) The results of UIIIHC staining: The UII protein expression of group M was higher than that of group N (20.22 ± 3.58 vs. 14.34 ± 2.18, P0.01), but less than group S (20.22 ± 3.58 vs. 28.92 ± 3.22, P0.05). (2) The results of UIIISH mRNA staining were similar to IHC staining, the A value of group M was higher than group N (12.51 ± 2.02 vs. 8.85 ± 1.41, P0.05), less than that of group S(12.51 ± 2.02 vs. 25.35 ± 4.33, P0.01). (3) Correlation study: there was a positive correlation between the A values of UIIIHC and pulmonary hypertension (r = 0.64, P0.01, n = 38), a positive correlation between the A values of UIIISH and pulmonary hypertension (r = 0.58, P0.01, n = 38).There was the expression of Urotensin II protein and mRNA in the lung of pulmonary hypertension patients with congenital heart disease, and these expression may involve the formation of pulmonary hypertension of congenital heart disease.

Serum levels of retinol, beta-carotene, ascorbic acid, alpha-tocopherol, selenium, ferritin, copper, and zinc were assayed for approximately 600 adults aged 35 to 64 with pre-cancerous gastric lesions in an area of China with one of the world's highest rates of stomach cancer. Previous studies have shown that the cancers generally are preceded by chronic atropic gastritis (CAG), intestinal metaplasia (IM) and dysplasia. Concentrations of beta-carotene and ascorbic acid were significantly lower among individuals with IM than among those whose most severe lesion was superficial gastritis or CAG. The associations with IM for these nutrients were strong and independent. In combination, the odds of CAG progressing to IM were only 1/6 as high among those with upper tertile levels of beta-carotene and ascorbic acid as among those with lower tertile levels of both nutrients. The serum levels of beta-carotene and ascorbic acid were similar for individuals having IM with or without accompanying dysplasia. Risk of IM was also somewhat increased among those with low serum ferritin, but no significant effects were observed in multivariate analyses for the other nutrients assayed. The findings point to a major influence of specific nutrient deficits in the mechanisms of gastric carcinogenesis in this high-risk area.

To observe the effects of carvedilol on the expression of Bcl-2, Bax and Fas in autoimmune myocarditis (AM).A total of 60 inbred male BALB/C mice 4 - 5 weeks of age were divided at random into 3 groups as follows: AM group (n = 20), carvedilol group (n = 20) and control group (n = 20). The mice were sacrificed after gathering blood specimens by taking out the eyeballs and hearts tissue. The histological and ultrastructural changes were observed under light microscope and electron microscope. The concentrations of cardiac troponin I (cTn I) were detected by chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA). Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed to analyze the contents of Bcl-2, Bax and Fas, TUNEL to detect the apoptotic index in myocardial cells.There were large number of lymphocyte and monocyte infiltrates under light microscope and karyopyknosis and chromatin gathered along the nuclear membrane under electron microscope in AM group. There were no inflammations and chromatin gathering in group C. Compared with control group, the Bcl-2, Bax and Fas protein expression significantly elevated in AM group (23.48 ± 2.24 vs. 6.64 ± 1.60, 26.15 ± 2.02 vs. 5.09 ± 0.85, 21.22 ± 3.62 vs. 5.86 ± 1.37, P0.01). The histopathologic scores (2.60 ± 0.31 vs. 2.02 ± 0.26, P0.05) and karyopyknosis of carvedilol group decreased as compared with AM group. The Bcl-2, Bax and Fas protein expression (17.13 ± 1.94 vs. 23.48 ± 2.24, 17.66 ± 2.62 vs. 26.15 ± 2.02, 16.79 ± 2.83 vs. 21.22 ± 3.62, P0.05), AI [(16.61 ± 4.67)% vs. (24.51 ± 4.70)%, P0.05] and contents of cTnI [(1.878 ± 0.48) ng/ml vs. (1.102 ± 0.23) ng/ml, P0.05] also decreased in carvedilol group compared with AM group.Carvedilol could protect against AM by alleviating cardiomyocyte apoptosis.

The characteristics of Dyeing wastewater is high in colourity, high in COD concentration, difficult in degradation, difficult in biological-treatment. Conventional biological process hardly meets environmental discharge standards that are more and more stringent. In this paper, a integraded treatment process that include MgSO4-FeSO4 two-stage flocculation, 03 oxidation, membrane bioreactor and Nanofiltration was studied by experiments. The results showed that COD total removal rate was 85% by MgSO4-FeSO4 two-stage flocculation when MgSO4 and FeSO4 was congtrol at 300mg/L and 250 mg/L respectively. Ozone oxidation could not further decrease COD, but obviously rise B/C from 0.22 to 0.46 within 40 min, which very benefited biological treatment, wastewate was further treated by membrane bioreactor and COD was further down to less than 60mg/L when Hydraulic Retention Time(HRT) was 6h. Finally, the COD, colourity and colourity of water treated deeply by nanofiltration were less than 20mg/L, 5 times and 50 us/cm, which completely meets the requirement of reuse for dyeing.

Many Chinese small electroplating enterprises usually discharge mixed electroplating wastewater which contains CN-, Cr(¢o ), Cu2+, Zn2+ and other toxic heavy metals. It is hard for efficiently treating this mixed waste wate. At present, conventional chemical methods could usually meet discharge standard, but may not meet recycling need. In this paper, a conbined treatment process include O3oxidation, FeSO4 reduction, heavy metal ions precipitation, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis was studied by experiment. The results showed that the removal rates of total cyanide was above 99% when pH was 9, O3:CN- was5:1(mass ratio) and oxidation time was about 45 minutes; the reduction rates of Cr(¢o) was above 99% when pH was9~10, FeSO4 : Cr(¢o) was 10:1 (mass ratio) and reduction time was about 15 minutes, and main polutants such as Cr, Cu, Zn in the end treated water by nanofiltration and reverse osmosis closed to zero, the conductivity less than50us/cm, which was superior to tap water and could be recycled for rinsing water.

The relationships between serum pepsinogen (PG) levels and age, sex, ABO blood type, cigarette smoking and diet were studied among over 3, 000 residents selected at random in an area with high risk of stomach cancer in Shandong Province, China. Males had significantly higher median PG I and II levels than feamles. PG I tended to decrease and PG II to rise with age. Subjects with blood type A had a higher PG II level than subjects with other blood types. Both PG I and II levels rose with daily consumption of cigarettes. Alcohol consumption was not related to PG levels. The PG I/ II ratio declined with increasing consumption of sour pancakes, a fermented staple food found to contain N-nitroso compounds and to be a risk factor for stomach cancer in this population.

Previous studies have shown that hydrogen sulfide (H2S) plays key roles in a number of biological processes, including vasorelaxation, inflammation, apoptosis, ischemia/reperfusion and oxidative stress, which are involved in the pathogenesis of myocarditis. This study aimed to examine the expression of cystathionine-γ-lyase(CSE)/H2S pathway in mice with viral myocarditis.Six-week-old inbred male mice were randomly assigned to control (n=25) and myocarditis group (n=30). The myocarditis and the control groups were inoculated intraperitoneally with 0.1 mL 10-5.69TCID50/mL CVB3 or vehicle (PBS) alone respectively. Ten mice were sacrificed 4 and 10 days after injection. Blood and heart specimens were harvested for measuring the content of serum H2S and the H2S production rates in cardiac tissues. Heart sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Immunohistochemisty was used to detect the CSE protein expression in the heart.In the myocarditis group, the serum H2S content and H2S production rates in cardiac tissues were significantly higher than those in the control group 4 and 10 days after injection (P0.05). The expression of CSE protein in the heart in the myocarditis group was also significantly higher than that in the control group (P0.05).CSE and its downstream production H2S increase in mice with acute viral myocarditis. The increased expression of CSE/H2S pathway might be involved in the pathogenesis of viral myocarditis.

To evaluate the stress distribution and offset of dental and periodontal tissues imposed by changes in inner diameter of pulp cavity.Six models of maxillary second bicuspid tooth with different inner diameter of pulp cavity were established, including: (1) calcificated pulp without pulp chamberi (2) mostly calcificated pulp chamber with inward reduction of 0. 5 mm in normal pulp cavity; (3) initially calcificated pulp chamber with inward reduction of 0.25 mm in normal pulp cavity; (4) normal pulp cavity; (5) initially absorbed pulp chamber with outward expansion of 0.25 mm in normal pulp cavity; (6) mostly absorbed pulp chamber with outward expansion of 0.5 mm in normal pulp cavity. Vertical and oblique forces with 160 N were loaded on the central fossa, respectively, in order to calculate the stress distribution of dental and periodontal tissues and the maximum incipient offset of the teeth.With loaded vertical and oblique forces on central fossa, increased stress distribution of periodontal tissues and maximum incipient offset of teeth were found in all of the models, which increased with the increase of pulp cavity.The change in inner diameter of pulp cavity has an impact on the stress distribution of periodontal tissues and maximum incipient offset of the second upper bicuspid teeth.

To study the values of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in the evaluation of cardiac function in children with congenital heart disease (CHD).Seventy-one children with CHD were classified to two groups: congestive heart failure (CHF) (n=23 ) and non-CHF (n=48). Thirty-five age-matched normal children were used as the control group. Plasma BNP content was measured using a microparticle enzyme immunoassay (MEIA) on the AxSYM. Plasma NT-proBNP content was measured using an automated electrochemiluminescence immunoassay on a Roche Modular Analytics E170 analyzer. Echocardiographic parameters, including left ventricular end diastolic dimension index (LVEDDI) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), were measured.Plasma BNP and NT-proBNP contents in the CHF group were significantly higher than those in the non-CHF group (P0.01). The non-CHF group had higher plasma BNP and NT-proBNP contents than the control group (P0.01). LogBNP and LogNT-proBNP values were negatively correlated with the LVEF in the CHF group (r=-0.64, r=-0.67 respectively, P0.01), and they were positively correlated with the LVEDDI (r=0.58, r=0.76 respectively, P0.01). In the non-CHF group, LogBNP and LogNT-proBNP values were not correlated with the LVEF, but a positive correlation was found between the LogNT-proBNP value and the LVEDDI (r=0.35, P0.05). Using plasma BNP contentor =149.8 pg/mL and NT-proBNP contentor =820.1 pg/mL as cut-off values for diagnosing CHF respectively, the sensitivities were 87.0 % and 91.3% respectively, the specificities were 91.7% and 97.9% respectively, and the areas under the ROC curves were 0.935 and 0.987 respectively.Both BNP and NT-proBNP can be useful in assessment of cardiac function and diagnosis of CHF in children with CHD. NT-proBNP appears to be more sensitive and specific in the diagnosis of CHF than BNP.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the growth characteristics and the expression level of integrin mRNA of the cultured bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) from patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in myeloid crisis (MC), and explore the role of BMMSCs in pathogenesis of CML. Five CML patients were enrolled in experimental group, five healthy persons were used as control. BMMSCs were cultured in vitro. The morphology of BMMSCs was observed every day and the growth curve were portrayed, and the ability of cell proliferation were detected according to the daily results of cell counting. Total RNA was extracted from third and fourth passages of BMMSCs, The expression of integrins mRNA of BMMSCs were measured by real-time PCR. The results showed that the BMMSCs of experimental and control groups had no difference in growth characterisctics, but the expression of integrins mRNA of the BMMSCs was higher in CML patients than in normal control group (p0.05). It is concluded that the abnormally high expression of integrins of BMMSC from the CML patients take part in pathogenesis of CML.

A series of the polyimide-silica NLO nanohybrid materials were synthesized from 3,3', 4,4'- Bisphenyltetracarboxylic (BPDA), 2,2-Bis(3-amino-4-hydroxyphen-yl) hexafluoropropane (6FHP), nonlinear optical (NLO) molecule 4-(N-2-Hydroxyethyl-N-methylamino)-4'-[(6-nitroben-zothiazol-2-yl)-diazenyl] azobenzene (HNBDA), coupling agent APTES and hydrolysate of TEOS via sol-gel process. The TEOS contents in the hybrids were varied from 0 to 22.5/wt%. The prepared polyimide/silica hybrids were characterized by FT-IR, differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) etc. The glass transition temperature (Tg) and the decomposition temperature (Td) at 5% mass loss were in the range 215~364degC and 320~430degC, respectively. These results showed that these hybrid materials had excellent thermal stability. The hybrid solutions could be spin coated on the indium-tin-oxide (ITO) glass to form optical quality thin films. The electro-optic coefficients (gamma33) at 832 nm for polymer poled were in the range of 21-50 pm/V and the values remained well (retained > 88% for more than 100 h). The experimental results suggest that the hybrid thin films have potential applications as passive films for optical devices.

Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) composite laminates are widely used in aerospace and aircraft structural components due to their superior properties. However, they are regarded as difficult-to-cut materials because of bad surface quality and low productivity. Drilling is the most common hole making process for CFRP composite laminates and drilling induced delamination damage usually occurs severely at the exit side of drilling holes, which strongly deteriorate holes quality. In this work, the candle stick drill and multi-facet drill are employed to evaluate the machinability of drilling T700/LT-03A CFRP composite laminates in terms of thrust force, delamination, holes diameter and holes surface roughness. S/N ratio is used to characterize the thrust force while an ellipse-shaped delamination model is established to quantitatively analyze the delamination. The best combination of drilling parameters are determined by full consideration of S/N ratios of thrust force and the delamination. The results indicate that candle stick drill will induce the unexpected ellipse-shaped delamination even at its best drilling parameters of spindle speed of 10,000 rpm and feed rate of 0.004 mm/tooth. However, the multi-facet drill cutting at the relative lower feed rate of 0.004 mm/tooth and lower spindle speed of 6000 rpm can effectively prevent the delamination. Comprehensively, holes quality obtained by multi-facet drill is much more superior to those obtained by candle stick drill.

The application of intensity- modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) requires a precise delineation of the nodal area and nodal clinical target volume (CTV) on computed tomography (CT) images,and the prerequisite is to find out the rules of CT-based distribution of metastatic lymph nodes of NPC. This study was designed to analyze the rules of CT-based distribution of nodal involvements of NPC according to the guidelines of nodal levels proposed by Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG).From Jul. 2003 to Nov.2003, 259 newly diagnosed NPC patients received radiotherapy at Fudan University Affiliated Cancer Hospital. All patients had transversal contrast enhanced CT scan from base of skull to clavicle before treatment. Diagnostic radiologists and radiation oncologists together assessed the nodal distribution in each RTOG nodal level. Chi-square test was used to analyze the correlation between T stage and nodal metastasis rate. The neck was further divided into 3 regions by the verge of hyoid bone and the inferior border of cricoid cartilage to assess leap metastasis of nodes.A total of 218 patients (84.2%)had nodal involvement. The distribution was as follow: 0 in level Ia, 6 (2.8%) in level Ib, 115 (52.8%) in level IIa,192 (88.1%) in level IIb, 78 (35.8%) in level III, 20 (9.2%) in level IV, 65 (29.9%) in level V, 0 in level VI,157 (72.0%)in retropharynx, and 2 (0.9%) at preauricular area. Leap metastases were found in only 5 patients (2.3%). No significant correlation was found between T stage and nodal involvement.NPC has a high probability of nodal metastases, nodes in level IIa,IIb, and retropharynx are most likely to be involved. Nodes metastasized mostly from the upper to the lower level, and from the proximal to the distal part, with a very low leap metastasis rate. The relationship between T stage and nodal involvement has no statistical significance.

Zr4+-doped LiNbO3 plates were prepared by diffusion of ZrO2 films coated onto congruent LiNbO3 substrates in wet O2. After diffusion, Zr4+-doping effect on refractive index of LiNbO3 and Li2O out diffusion were studied by prism coupling technique. The results show that the Li2O out diffusion is ignorable and Zr4+ doping has little effect on both the ordinary and extraordinary indices. The little effect of diffusion-doping is clearly different from the bulk doping case reported previously, in which both ordinary and extraordinary indices show definite Zr4+ doping concentration effect. The difference is attributed to the different ion arrangements from crystal growth to in-diffusion.

Using observation data of the CGBN-85 and new data of absolute and relative measurements after that a new adjustment has been made in 1996. The standard stations occupy 94% of gravity range of CGBN-96 instead of 65% having in the CGBN-85. A new adjustment model is used. Absolute observations with different weight for different gravimeters enter observation equations. The relative observations are taken as quasi-absolute observations with unknowns: station gravity value, gravimeter calibration factors, unknown gravity level and linear drift. Periodic error corrections have not been applied. A comparison between the gravity values of CGBN-96 and those of CGBN-85 were made. After new adjustment the values of CGBN become more reliable.
