Abstract

En aquest projecte s’estudia el procés de fabricació que utilitza l’empresa Linde+Wiemann per conformar el marc de la finestra d’un camió. S’utilitza un procés de conformat en fred de perfils oberts de xapa d’acer que s’anomena cintrat (stretch-bending). En l’operació de cintrat un perfil recte se subjecta pels seus extrems amb unes mordaces que l’hi apliquen tracció. Al mateix temps, aplicant un moviment relatiu entre les mordaces i els útils de conformat, es doblega el perfil i se l’obliga a adoptar la forma requerida. Així, el conformat es produeix principalment per esforços de tracció i flexió. El perfil que s’utilitza per cintrar s’obté conformant en fred una tira de xapa en una línia de conformat per corrons. El cintrat s’utilitza en la industria de l’automòbil per fabricar perfils doblegats com els marcs de les finestres o les guies de les portes corredores. Un marc de finestra és una peça que es col·loca en el forat de la finestra d’un automòbil i s’encarrega de definir la zona on queda allotjat el vidre quan aquest està apujat, així com de subjectar la goma que permet que la finestra tanqui correctament. La metodologia emprada consisteix en simular tot el procés de fabricació mitjançant programes de càlcul per ordinador basats en el mètode dels elements finits (MEF). Primer s’ha estudiat el procés de perfilat (roll forming), on ha calgut dissenyar la línia de perfilat a utilitzar en el model d’EF. L’estat tensional residual del perfil com a conseqüència del perfilat serà el punt de partida de l’etapa de cintrat. A continuació s’ha estudiat el procés de cintrat, on també ha calgut dissenyar els útils de conformat a utilitzar en el model d’EF. Per últim, s’ha validat el model amb mesures de la peça real i s’ha verificat la malla i el tipus d’element. Els resultats del treball indiquen que és necessari incloure les tensions residuals del perfilat al model d’EF per obtenir resultats similars a la realitat, així com millorar el disseny dels útils. També s’ha realitzat un estudi de l’efecte de la tracció de cintrat sobre la geometria de la peça, que ha permès obtenir una estratègia de cintrat amb tracció variable que podria millorar la geometria del marc de finestra mentre redueix la distorsió de la secció. A més, s’ha determinat l’efecte de la torsió sobre la geometria de la peça. Això ha permès redissenyar un dels útils de conformat per tal que apliqui torsió de compensació a la zona adequada. Aquesta modificació podria millorar la geometria de la peça cintrada. Es vol que la simulació per EF sigui una eina útil en projectes de peces cintrades. Ha de permetre la col·laboració entre client i fabricant per tal que la peça s’ajusti millor als requeriments del cintrat. També ha d’ajudar a millorar el disseny dels útils en un nou projecte. Per últim, ha de permetre estudiar els defectes durant el procés productiu i determinar l’ajust necessari dels paràmetres que intervenen en el cintrat per tal de millorar la geometria de la peça i minimitzar la distorsió de la secció.

Abstract

Transparent armor is already starting experiencing a change in its technology due to the incorporation of new materials, which we call “transparent ceramics” or “optoceramics”. This is based on the increase of safety needs that year by year are requiring better transparent armor. That is to say, stronger and lighter systems than the traditional glass layered systems, in order to be able to protect from new threats and be installed to new vehicles. This technology transfer is still premature because of several factors such as economical or technological, but is improving extraordinary in the last years. Therefore, this paper focus on the near future highend transparent armor models by using those new transparent ceramics materials. First of all, the paper is considering the study of the art of transparent ceramics, giving a global view how and why these materials have so high properties, their manufacturing process and how could they be transparent. At the end of the chapter it is to be found a large variety of potential applications in which this material open new horizons. Secondly, a study of the main application “transparent armor” is considered. In this chapter is to see the previous transparent armor (TA) design and its way to improve compared to the future TA design enabled by the transparent ceramics and its new way of thinking. Economical issues as well as environmental aspects are born in mind, so that a global sense of how realistic this project is given. The purpose of the paper is to point out to the reader that new innovative materials are emerging from the labs to the market, allowing higher performance revolutionizing the market. However, it seems that these applications will be high-end for a selective market, due to the high price. Nevertheless, if reductions in costs succeed, they might change day-to-day products way of thinking!
