The dielectric function evolution and electronic bandgap manipulation by silicon (Si) doping for Sb 2 Te 3 phase change films have been investigated by temperature dependent spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements. During the phase change from amorphous to rhombohedral structures, the significant contrast of electronic band structure for pure Sb 2 Te 3 and Si-doped Sb 2 Te 3 (SST) films as functions of temperature (210–620 K) and Si concentration (0%–12%) has been systematically studied by analyzing the dielectric functions, Tauc gap energy, and partial spectral weight integral. The distinct differences can be mainly attributed to the increment of structure order degree, originated from the change of local bonding arrangement. Based upon the evolutions of Tauc gap energy and partial spectral weight integral with increasing temperature for all four samples, it can be concluded that Si doping can inhibit the crystallization of amorphous films and accelerate the phase change process by serving as nanoscale heaters, which is helpful in improving the thermal stability of amorphous films. The elevated crystallization temperature and phase change rate by Si doping contribute to the dependability and endurance for SST-based phase change memory. A series of experiments has been conducted to investigate the tribological properties of a TiN film sliding against GCr15 steel balls in ambient air, low vacuum and high vacuum environments. Various friction loads and sliding velocities were also applied. The TiN film displays a steady-state friction stage after the running-in stage in all the above environments, while the durations of running-in stages are different. The steady-state friction coefficients of the TiN film were around 0.56 in ambient air and 0.3 in the high vacuum environment (1 × 10−5 mbar). In the low vacuum (1 × 10−2 mbar) environment, a low friction coefficient (around 0.19) was attained for all the friction tests on TiN film, irrespective of the applied load and sliding velocity. In the meantime, it was noticed that the applied loads and the sliding velocities would change the duration of the running-in stage before reaching the low friction coefficient. It is revealed by the analysis of wear tracks that the metal oxides induced by the tribo-chemical effect at the friction interface play an important role in affecting the tribological behaviors of the TiN films in different environments. The Raman results show that the main component of the metal oxides is hematite (α-Fe2O3), and the amount of iron oxide is related to the friction environment. The composition and quantity of iron oxides produced by the interfacial tribo-chemical effect affect the tribological behavior. The results also show that the mechanical wear process at the friction interface displays a polishing effect, which would reduce the surface roughness. The mechanical wear performance varies under different loads and velocities. The tribological tests results indicate that the interfacial tribo-chemical effect and mechanical wear process should be considered together rather than individually to interpret the tribological behaviors of TiN films in different environments. Pulse signals carry comprehensive information regarding human cardiovascular physiology and pathology, providing a noninvasive and continuous method to assess cardiovascular health status in blood pressure monitoring. The blood pressure measurement method based on the pulse signal needs to extract the features of the single-cycle pulse signal, while the pulse signal pertains to the weak physiological signal of body surface. The acquisition process is susceptible to various factors leading to abnormal cycles, especially adjacent channel interference, affecting the subsequent feature extraction. To address this problem, this paper conducts an analysis of the formation mechanism of adjacent channel interference and proposes a single-cycle pulse signal recognition algorithm based on a one-dimensional deep convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) model. Radial pulse signals were collected from 150 subjects by pulse bracelet, and a dataset comprising 3446 single-cycle signals was extracted in total after denoising, single-cycle segmentation, and standardized preprocessing. The 1D-CNN model is trained to classify input signals into three categories: effective pulse signals, distortion, and interference signals. This classification is achieved by evaluating the waveform morphology of the signals within a single cycle. The results show that the overall classification accuracy of the algorithm on the test set is 98.26%, in which the classification accuracy of pulse waves is 99.8%, indicating that it can effectively recognize single-cycle pulse waves, which lays the foundation for subsequent continuous blood pressure measurement. COCH (coagulation factor C homology) is one of the most frequently mutated genes of autosomal dominant non-syndromic hearing loss. Variants in COCH could cause DFNA9, which is characterized by late-onset hearing loss with variable degrees of vestibular dysfunction. In this study, we report a Chinese family with a novel COCH variant (c.1687delA) causing p.D544Vfs*3 in the cochlin. Comprehensive audiometric tests and vestibular function assessments were taken to acquire the phenotypic profile of the subjects. Next-generation sequencing was conducted and segregation analysis was carried out using Sanger sequencing. The proband presented mild vestibular symptoms and normal functional assessment results in almost every test, while the variant co-segregated with hearing impairment in the pedigree. The variant was located beyond the vWFA2 domain, which was predicted to affect the post-translational cleavage of the cochlin via molecular modeling analysis. Notably, in the overexpressing study, by transient transfecting the HEK 293T cells, we found that the p.D544Vfs*3 variant increased the formation of multimeric cochlin. Our result enriched the spectrum of DFNA9-linked pathological COCH variants and suggested that variants, causative of cochlin multimerization, could be related to DFNA9 with sensorineural hearing loss rather than serious vestibular symptoms. With rapid industrialization and urbanization in China, a large rural population has migrated to cities and left their rural homestead land (RHL) idled. Land use policy on RHL utilization is crucial to the efficient use of land resources. However, due to farmers' limited knowledge of regulations and lack of participation in rural land governance, their preference is sometimes overlooked in the policy-making process. The purpose of this paper is to examine farmers' preferences for the two primary RHL utilization programs, i.e., transfer and surrender. We conducted a farmer household survey of 405 households in rural areas in Changchun at Jilin Province, China in 2018 and estimated farmers' willingness to participate in the mechanisms using a bivariate ordered probit model. Various options under the two mechanisms are also investigated. We find a positive correlation between rural households' willingness to participate in these two mechanisms. This is the first comprehensive study taking into consideration the correlation and tradeoff in farmers' choice between the two mechanisms. The results shed light on the heterogeneity of households' needs and interests in RHL utilization, an important component to be considered in rural development policy-making decisions. E-commerce plays a crucial role in the digital economy. E-commerce can reduce costs and boost economic growth. Therefore, the global rate of E-commerce is increasing very fast, which has implications for the digital economy. This study analyses the impact of e-commerce on environmental sustainability. The empirical analysis employed OLS, 2SLS, GMM, and panel quantile regression methods using panel data of 10 European economies spanning over 2002–2019. Carbon emissions and GHG emissions measure environmental sustainability. The results from OLS, 2SLS and GMM show that e-commerce negatively impacts carbon emissions. The panel quantile regression results also show that e-commerce negatively impacts carbon emissions at the middle and higher quantiles. This study recommends that environmental sustainability programs pay attention to policies encouraging e-commerce. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
