218. Degradation of cobalt-free Ba0.95La0.05FeO3-δ cathode against CO2–H2O and Ce0.9Gd0.1O2−δ modification

Abstract

Under actual operating conditions, cathode materials of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) tend to react with CO2 and/or H2O in air, resulting in degraded performances and stabilities. Here, effects of CO2 and H2O on Ba0.95La0.05FeO3-δ (BLF) cathode are systematically discussed by X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD), electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results show that BaCO3 can be formed at 400 °C in a simulated air atmosphere. The content of CO2 and H2O has a significant influence on the polarization resistance (RP) of BLF, the RP of BLF is 0.161 Ω·cm2 in fresh air and 0.649 Ω·cm2 in 3% CO2–5% H2O-92% Air at 700 °C, respectively. But such degradation is reversible by switching working gas into fresh air again. In addition, we propose two alternative ways to improve tolerance of BLF cathode against CO2 and H2O: surface coating Ce0.9Gd0.1O2-δ (GDC) nano-particles on BLF cathode via spray-drying method and mechanical mixing GDC with BLF cathode. Compared with mechanical mixing, surface coating method is more advantageous in lowering the Rp of BLF cathode, which keeps 0.160 Ω·cm2 with 3% CO2–5% H2O-92% Air at 700 °C for 24 h. © 2020 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC

It has been reported that chrysophanol (CHR) can alleviate the progression of diabetes; however, the role of CHR in DN remains unclear.Methods: To mimic DN in vitro, human podocytes (AB8/13 cells) were treated with high glucose (HG). Meanwhile, Western blot was performed to detect protein expressions. CCK-8 assay was used to test cell viability and cell proliferation was detected by Ki-67 staining. In addition, flow cytometry was performed to investigate cell apoptosis and cycle and cell migration was tested by transwell assay. Moreover, in vivo model of DN was established to detect the effect of CHR on DN in vivo.Results: HG-induced AB8/13 cell growth inhibition was significantly rescued by CHR. In addition, HG notably promoted the migration of AB8/13 cells, while this phenomenon was obviously reversed by CHR. Moreover, CHR inhibited the progression of DN via inactivation of TGF-β/EMT axis. Furthermore, CHR alleviated the symptom of DN in vivo.Conclusion: CHR significantly alleviated the progression of DN via inactivation of TGF-β/EMT signaling in vitro and in vivo. 221. LncRNA MIAT Inhibits MPP+-Induced Neuronal Damage Through Regulating the miR-132/SIRT1 Axis in PC12 Cells.

Abstract

Parkinson's disease (PD) is an age-related neurodegenerative disease caused by the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra. LncRNA MIAT has been shown to be critical in Alzheimer's disease, but its role and mechanism in PD are still unknown. Differentiated PC12 cells were treated with 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium (MPP+) to establish in vitro cell injury model of PD. MTT, Annexin V-PI double staining test and Western blot were used to detect cell viability and apoptosis. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and phospholipid hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) kits were used to evaluate oxidative stress in cells. These results showed that LncRNA MIAT was down-regulated in MPP+-induced PC12 cells. Overexpression of LncRNA MIAT remarkably increased cell viability, inhibited cell apoptosis and oxidative stress in MPP+-treated cells. In addition, we proved that miR-132 is a target of LncRNA MIAT. Overexpression of miR-132 could reverse the positive effect of LncRNA MIAT overexpression on MPP+-induced cell oxidative stress injury. SIRT1 is a target of miR-132 and silencing of SIRT1 attunated the positive effect of LncRNA MIAT overexpression on oxidative stress injury in MPP+-induced PC12 cells. In conclusion, this study indicated that LncRNA MIAT suppressed MPP+-induced oxidative stress injury by regulating miR-132/SIRT1 axis in PC12 cells. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In the steam power plant, the working medium used for energy transformation is water vapor. The thermodynamic properties of water vapor are usually obtained by using water vapor tables and charts. Adiabatic process of water vapor is widespread in engineering applications. The adiabatic process is realized without heat addition or rejection and the entropy of the working medium during a reversible adiabatic process remains constant. During an adiabatic expansion process, superheated steam turns into saturated vapor , and further into wet vapor, the pressure and the temperature of the steam decreases. The entropy during a irreversible adiabatic process increases. In general, when analyzing the thermodynamic process of water vapor, we first determine the state parameters by using charts and tables, and then make relevant calculations according to the first law of thermodynamics.

Abstract

TiAl-based alloys have received extensive attention recently due to their excellent properties. However, the weak oxidation resistance at temperatures higher than 800 °C can limit their further high-temperature structural applications. To improve the oxidation resistance of a high-Nb-content γ-TiAl alloy (Ti-45Al-8.5Nb, in units of at.%), a chromium (Cr) coating is prepared by using the plasma surface alloying technique, separately, at 800 °C and 1000 °C. The x-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns reveal that an oxide surface layer consisting of Cr2O3, Al2O3, and TiO2 is produced on the Cr-coated Nb containing γ-TiAl substrates during the initial oxidation. However, the Cr2O3 is dominated in the oxide surface layer after being isothermally oxidized for 300 h. The oxidation kinetic curves are composed of a parabolic law stage (≤ 90 h) and a biquadratic law stage (≥ 90 h), fit by weight–gain curves. Due to diffusion in the fabrication process and oxidation process, the Cr-coated specimens have an adhesion force after being isothermally oxidized, specifically 69 N for a specimen after oxidation for 300 h. These results demonstrate that the Cr coating enhances the oxidation resistance and adhesion of a Ti-45Al-8.5Nb alloy, which may provide a new feasible scheme for designing oxidation protection layers.

239. Micro-structural damage and mechanical response of TiAl alloy with lamellar microstructure during thermal shock progress.

Abstract

Considering the service safety for TiAl alloy under thermal shock, the effect of thermal shock temperature and cycles on micro-structural degeneration and mechanical properties were studied. The results show that the vertical decomposition of α 2 →β 0 phase transition occurs in α 2 lamellae if the single thermal shock temperature increases to 1000 °C or the thermal shock cycle increases to 10 times at 900 °C. Cracks form during the thermal shock progress as the single thermal shock temperature increases to 1000 °C or the number of thermal shocks is 5 times at 900 °C. Simultaneously, the flexural strength of samples decreases to 70% of the initial flexural strength under the same condition. It indicates that Ti–45Al–4Nb–1Mo-0.1B alloy fails as the single thermal shock temperature is above 1000 °C or the number of thermal shocks exceeds 5 times at 900 °C, and cracks generated during the thermal shock progress cause the dramatic deterioration in flexural strength. Meanwhile, the formed cracks are coarse, and the propagation path is relatively straight, which further deteriorates the flexural strength of the Ti–45Al–4Nb–1Mo-0.1B alloy. Besides, the nucleation and propagation of cracks change with the thermal shock temperature and cycles were analyzed. When the single thermal shock temperature is 1000 °C, the nucleation of cracks is not only in lamellar colony boundaries but also in α 2 /γ lamellar interfaces and the propagation path of cracks is relatively straight compared with the formation of cracks after 5 thermal shocks at 900 °C, because the thermal stress increases, and then cracks directly pass through lamellar colonies when the angle between lamellar orientation and crack propagation direction is about 90°. • Studied the effect of thermal shock temperature and cycles on micro-structural and mechanical property of TiAl alloy. • Cracks generated during the thermal shock progress lead to the dramatic deterioration in flexural strength. • The initiation and propagation of cracks have a more significant influence on flexural strength. • Analyzed the failure condition of TiAl alloy based on the quenching-residual strength method.
