A novel set of amphiphilic conjugated molecules consisting of highly emissive fluorene and pyrene species functionalized with phosphonate polar pendant groups, namely PEP and POEP, were designed and synthesized. The novel molecular design endows the resulting molecules with good solution processability, excellent thermal stability, and multifunctional optoelectronic properties, i.e. bright blue emission in films and efficient interfacial functionality, which contribute to effectively lowering the electron injection barriers for efficient electron injection from the cathode. As a result, by using the multifunctional amphiphilic conjugated molecules as both light emitters and cathode interlayers, inkjet-printed single-layer organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) with an ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PEP or POEP/Al configuration have been successfully constructed. Comparable or even superior device characteristics have been achieved in comparison with those of spin-cast devices. In particular, inkjet printed devices based on PEP exhibited a low turn-on voltage (Von) of 3.8 V, a maximum current efficiency (ηc,max) of 1.12 cd A−1 at 10.0 V (687.2 mA cm−2), and a high maximum brightness (Lmax) of 8850.1 cd m−2 at 11.0 V. According to these results, such a novel molecular design is beneficial for achieving high-performance inkjet-printed OLEDs with simplified device architecture, which can help in tackling the hurdle of conventional multilayer devices with high work-function electrodes.

Hosting mega-events has been regarded as an effective catalyst for city branding. But increasing environmental cost of mega-events has been highlighted recently, which affected local residents' actual perception. The inconsistence between governments propagandizing benefits from holding mega-events and citizens' real experience will decrease the real effect of the events. This paper demonstrates the inconsistence by Shanghai example, which is a support to the theory of mega-event impact on city. hanghai 2010 World Expo officially aimed to improve the quality of life and building a harmonious society, while there are fewer studies focusing on whether the proposed vision is accepted by citizens. This paper explored the influences with a particular focus on residents' attitudinal survey after the event from December 2010 to February 2011 and 148 respondents were collected. Using structural equation model, the results illustrated that surveyed residents recognized more with 4 dimensions (culture, environment, economic and technology), which reflected the harmony between man and nature, as well as harmony between spiritual and material content. However, they did not perceive the upgrade of community cohesion, communication between urban and rural areas, and living condition after the mega-event. In conclusion, the residents form their preconceptions based on both individual experience and official vision. The whole concept of Shanghai Expo is not totally recognized by local residents. This mismatch is related to the existence of social challenges and the absence of a two-waycommunication. Shanghai branding should properly conceptualize and manage the city's core values with residents' participation in policy making process.

Fibrous sepiolite(Sep)/fluororubber (FKM) composite was prepared by co-mixing and heat molding. Fibrous aggregation of acid sepiolite(aSep) was prepared by acid exfoliation of mineral sepiolite, and then organic sepiolite(oSep) was prepared by coupling agent modification of aSep. The crystal structure, chemical composition and morphology of different aggregations were mensurated using X-ray diffraction, infrared spectrometer, and scanning electron microscope. The curing histories and mechanical properties of composites were analyzed for two kinds of fibrous sepiolites. The results indicated that apparent diameters of aSep and oSep were respectively 100–200 nm and 60–100 nm. The apparent crosslinking densities, curing velocities, and tensile strengths of FKM composites were increased by the addition of sepiolite, the curing velocities of oSep/FKM were lower than those of aSep/FKM, and the tensile strengths of oSep/FKM were upper than those of aSep/FKM. Wireless sensor networks are widely used to acquire environmental parameters to support agricultural production. However, data variation and noise caused by actuators often produce complex measurement conditions. These factors can lead to nonconformity in reporting samples from different nodes and cause errors when making a final decision. Data fusion is well suited to reduce the influence of actuator-based noise and improve automation accuracy. A key step is to identify the sensor nodes disturbed by actuator noise and reduce their degree of participation in the data fusion results. A smoothing value is introduced and a searching method based on Prim’s algorithm is designed to help obtain stable sensing data. A voting mechanism with dynamic weights is then proposed to obtain the data fusion result. The dynamic weighting process can sharply reduce the influence of actuator noise in data fusion and gradually condition the data to normal levels over time. To shorten the data fusion time in large networks, an acceleration method with prediction is also presented to reduce the data collection time. A real-time system is implemented on STMicroelectronics STM32F103 and NORDIC nRF24L01 platforms and the experimental results verify the improvement provided by these new algorithms.

Understanding and predicting the dissolution rate of silicate glasses is of primary importance for various applications, including bioactive glasses and borosilicate wasteforms. However, the mechanism of silicates’ dissolution – and its rate-limiting step – remains poorly understood. In particular, present models linking the composition and structure of silicate glasses to their dissolution rate in a given solvent have remained largely empirical thus far. Here, based on vertical scanning interferometry (VSI), we study the dissolution of a family of borosilicate glasses under several values of pH. In addition, we parametrized a new transferable inter-atomic potential to assess the structure of these glasses from molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. From a detailed analysis of the simulated structures, we demonstrate that the kinetics of the dissolution is controlled by the topology of the atomic network. Finally, we propose a new topological model of the dissolution, which is shown to offer realistic predictions of the activation energy of dissolution for a wide selection range of silicate glasses and crystals.
