Abstract

An exceptional phenomenon has been observed that SO2 and NOx in flue gas can be effectively adsorbed over activated carbon with a surprising capacity at cold temperatures with the presence of oxygen. In this study, the adsorption characteristics of NO and SO2 over activated carbon at 80, 20, 0, and − 20 is experimentally investigated. Without the presence of oxygen, adsorption of NO is negligible. In the presence of oxygen, NO can be oxidized to NO2 over activated carbon which leads to the co-adsorption of NO/NO2 within the adsorption bed. Catalytic oxidation of NO over activated carbon can be significantly enhanced at cold temperatures, leading to an extraordinary increase of adsorption capacity of NO. With an initial concentration of NO = 200 ppmv and a space velocity of 5000 h−1, the average specific capacity increases from 3.8 to 169.1 mg/g when the temperature decreases from 80 to – 20 ℃. For NO–O2 co-adsorption, the specific capacity increases along the adsorption bed due to the increasing NO2 concentrations. The adsorption capacity of SO2 is also significantly enhanced at cold temperatures. With an initial concentration of SO2 = 1000 ppmv, the specific capacity increases from 12.9 to 123.1 mg/g when the temperature decreases from 80 to – 20 ℃. A novel low-temperature adsorption (LAS) process is developed to simultaneously remove SO2 and NOx from flue gas with a target of near-zero emission. A pilot-scale testing platform with a flue gas flowrate of 3600 Nm3/h is developed and tested. Emission of both SO2 and NOx is less than 1 ppmv, and the predicted energy penalty is about 3% of the net generation.

242. Screening of Broadband Near-Infrared Cr3+-Activated Phosphors Using Ce3+as a Probe

Abstract

Near-infrared phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (NIR pc-LEDs) are ideal miniaturized NIR light sources, but it is still difficult to find broadband-emitting NIR phosphors due to the lack of appropriate material design principles. In this work, we propose a method to find hosts yielding broadband NIR Cr3+emission by screening Ce3+-doped phosphor hosts for which both Ce3+and Cr3+can occupy the same crystallographic site. A NIR phosphor Ba3Sc4O9:Cr3+(BSO:Cr3+) with an emission peak at 835 nm and a full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 188 nm is obtained, where Ce3+or Cr3+is accommodated at the same Sc3+site. The BSO:Cr3+ceramic is demonstrated to produce a NIR emitter with an output power of 14.56 mW when driven by a blue laser diode at 5.0 V/100 mA. By following the proposed method, two broadband NIR phosphors composed of Li3Sc2(PO4)3:Cr3+(λem= 1000 nm, FWHM = 223 nm) and Na3Sc2(PO4)3:Cr3+(λem= 895 nm, FWHM = 184 nm) are further discovered.

248. VHL expression level in the pathological tissue is significantly associated with clinical outcomes of platinum-based chemotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer patients

Abstract

Objective To investigate the association between expression level of VHL in pathological tissue and outcomes of platinum-based chemotherapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Methods The pathological samples of NSCLC patients were obtained for immunohistochemical staining to evaluate the expression level of VHL. Furthermore, their clinical data were collected and prognosis was traced by phone. The correlation between gene expression level and the hematotoxicity was evaluated by chi-square test. The influence of VHL expression level on the risk of hematotoxicity was tested by logistic regression model. The survival curve was plotted by Kaplan-Meier method and the survival rate between the two groups was compared by log-rank test. Results A total of 110 NSCLC patients were enrolled in this study, the median follow-up time of these patients was 27.5 months. In the whole group, 31 patients had died by the last date of follow-up to get their survival information (Nov.10,2020), with a median survival time of 24.3 months. Though immunohistochemical analysis,we found that 59 patients(53.6%) had weak expression level of VHL or lack of expression in their tumor tissues,while 51 patients(46.4%) presented moderate or high expression. We found that the patients with weak expression of VHL in their carcinoma tissue or lack of expression had more opportunities to occur neutropenia after platinum-based chemotherapy(OR=0.264,95%CI=0.085-0.818,P-value=0.021).And the expression level of VHL was correlated with OS(Logrank test：P-value= 0.007，HR= 4.219,95%CI: 1.75-10.174, P-value=0.001), while not related with DFS(Logrank test：P-value=0.256，HR= 1.334,95%CI:0.642-2.769, P-value=0.440). Conclusion The expression level of VHL gene in pathological tissue is related with Granulocytosis and leukocytotoxicity after platinum-based chemotherapy in NSCLC patients.
