Fibrous pseudotumor of the testicular appendices is a rare, benign tumour which, because of its site, frequently simulates a malignant testicular tumour. Ultrasonography establishes the diagnosis of benign extratesticular tumour based on a number of arguments in favour of this entity, allowing local excision instead of unnecessary orchidectomy.

The authors report a case of fibrolamellar carcinoma of the liver in a young woman with bilateral lung metastases. This tumour was surgically unremovable. Presently, after a chemotherapy with adriamycin and mitomycin, this patient is in good health, two years after initial diagnosis. Review of the literature shows that fibrolamellar carcinoma of the liver occurs mainly in young patients. This tumor is characterised by large polygonal eosinophilic hepatocytes and an abundant fibrous stroma. It can be confused with focal nodular hyperplasia. Resection of the tumor and the methodical, repeated resections of metastases must be performed when possible. Prognosis of this tumor is better than that of the other variants of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Colonic complications of pancreatitis are not infrequent occurrences, as illustrated by the fact that the authors have personally treated 39 such cases. Lesions are found in the colon at sites which correspond perfectly to diffusion of pancreatic necrotic lesions along mesenteric pathways as described by Meyers. They occur mainly in the left colic flexure (17 cases) and transverse colon (10 cases) but may affect the ascending (6 cases) and descending (4 cases) colon by diffusion of the pancreatitis into the anterior extrarenal space. These topographical characteristics, associated with the extrinsic and inflammatory nature of the lesions, produce a very specific and typical radiological syndrome which should assist diagnosis.

Lymphography revealed the nature of diffuse lymph node involvement in systemic mastocytosis with diffuse bone involvement and hematological signs, similar to that seen in some malignant hematological diseases or in osteomyelosclerosis. The final stages of transformation into acute lymphoblastic leukemia must also be considered.

Infections of face and neck represent serious and potentially life threatening conditions that are sometimes difficult to differentiate from neoplastic tumours, especially in subacute clinical forms. Conventional radiographic techniques offer interest for cervical masses, except Ultra-Sonographic exam, in sites regarding vascular axes, but carries little value for evaluating their spread into the different cervical spaces. On the other hand, C.T. is valuable to precise the location and the extent and to determine its inflammatory nature by studying the fats and the aponeurosis around it. It help in the analysis of associated adjacent signs: soft tissue swelling, extensive obliteration of adjacent fats, swelling of cervical aponeurosis, thickening of adjacent muscles. These findings are documented by the study of fourteen patients, admitted in St-Antoine hospital. All abscesses, except one, were easy to diagnose because of their low central attenuation. False negative cases are possible and noted by other authors. So, in absence of response to appropriate therapy, surgery is necessary to eliminate a misdiagnosed abscess. Furthermore, it's sometimes possible to suspect an etiology (foreign body, tuberculosis).

The superior mesenteric artery was found to be displaced posteriorly in 5 patients with intraperitoneal masses. In 3 cases, the mass was a mesenteric tumor, and in the 2 other cases a tumor arising from the retroperitoneal area which had grown into the mesentery. The authors emphasize, therefore, the value of defining the position of the superior mesenteric artery in the sagittal plane for the topographic diagnosis of intraperitoneal masses. This investigation does not, however, eliminate the possibility of a retroperitoneal origin of the tumoral mass.
