202. [Plasmatic concentracion of piperacillin/tazobactam in pediatric patients on ECMO support. Preliminary analysis]

Abstract

Pharmacokinetics and optimal dosing of piperacillin tazobactam (PT) have not been well studied in pediatric patients undergoing extracorporeal oxygenation membrane (ECMO).To describe piperacillin plasmatic concentration and evaluate achievement of pharmaccokinetic/pharmacodinamic objective in patients on ECMO support.We report three pediatric patients admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, treated with PT undergoing ECMO. Plasmatic concentrations of piperacillin were obtained in the middle of the dosing interval using high performance liquid chromatography.Plasmatic concentrations were 51,7-14,1 and 6,5 μg/mL for patient A, B and C respectively. Only one patient reached adequate concentrations.These preliminary results suggest that availability of plasmatic concentrations of piperacillin could optimize the achievement of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic objectives in pediatric patients on ECMO support.

225. A multivariate examination of the timing and accumulation of potentially toxic elements at Las Conchas bog (NW Spain)

Abstract

The inorganic content of the well-preserved 3.2-m record of Las Conchas bog (NW Spain), covering 8000 cal yr BP., was analysed. To study natural vs. human contributions, we applied an innovative approach, namely the sequential study of multivariate statistics (factor analysis followed by clustering of the factor score matrix) and enrichment factors (EFs). The increasing weight of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) such as the geochemical association of Zn, Pb and Cd (EFs higher than 10, 20 and 40 in the last two centuries) was revealed, and corroborated by the contrast between the contents of anthropogenic Pb and total Rare Earth Elements (a suitable proxy for natural geogenic supplies). Furthermore, elements such as Hg, Tl and As also showed enrichment in the most recent samples of the study core. Some of them are commonly associated with global atmospheric transport; however, in this case, their increasing contents could also be explained by nearby industrial and mining activities. In summary, severe pollution was observed in the uppermost part of the record, thereby pointing to an important environmental concern. Given that local and regional sources of PTEs, such as mining and heavy industry, especially Zn smelting, were probably the main historical causes of this contamination and that some of these industries are still active, we consider that our findings deserve further attention.

Abstract

1,8-difluoroanthraquinone reacts with aza-12-crown-4 and aza-15-crown-5 to give two disubstituted anthraquinones. Cyclic voltammetry analyzes the complexation of these products. Na+ forms 1:1 complexes with these quinones, whereas Li+ forms 2:1 complexes. Li+ and Na+ ions show high cation binding enhancements. This technique is also used to prepare various lipophilic diaza-12-crown-4-anthraquinone systems.

Abstract

A procedure for the synthesis of 1,8-difluoroanthraquinone is presented. The reaction makes use of 1,8-difluoroanthraquinone as the starting reagent. Modification of previous methods and use of anhydrous conditions resulted in a 60% yield of product. When reacted with different alcohols, the 1,8-anthraquinone yielded 70-90% of disubstituted derivatives. Results showed that it was better to use fluorine in place of chlorine for the nucleophilic aromatic substitution processes. The values for cation enhancement were larger than those of other systems with related structure.

Abstract

Short-lived α-decaying nuclei "northeast" of 208Pb in the chart of nuclides were studied using the reaction 48Ca+243Am with the decay station TASISpec at TASCA, GSI Darmstadt. Decay energies and times from pile-up events were extracted with a tailor-made pulse-shape analysis routine and specific α-decay chains were identified in a correlation analysis. Decay chains starting with the even-even 220Ra and its odd-A neighbors, 219Fr, and 219,221Ra, with a focus on the 219Ra→215Rn decay, were studied by means of α-γ spectroscopy. A revised α-decay scheme of 219Ra is proposed, including a new decay branch from a previously not considered isomeric state at 17 keV excitation energy. Conclusions on nuclear structure are drawn from the experimental data, aided by Geant4 simulations and a discussion on theoretical calculations.

Abstract

Inequalities between men and women are common and well-documented. Objective indexes show that men are better positioned than women in societal hierarchies—there is no single country in the world without a gender gap. In contrast, researchers have found that the women-are-wonderful effect—that women are evaluated more positively than men overall—is also common. Cross-cultural studies on gender equality reveal that the more gender egalitarian the society is, the less prevalent explicit gender stereotypes are. Yet, because self-reported gender stereotypes may differ from implicit attitudes towards each gender, we reanalysed data collected across 44 cultures, and (a) confirmed that societal gender egalitarianism reduces the women-are-wonderful effect when it is measured more implicitly (i.e. rating the personality of men and women presented in images) and (b) documented that the social perception of men benefits more from gender egalitarianism than that of women. info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersion

Resumen del trabajo presentado a la 12th International Conference on the Scientific and Clinical Applications of Magnetic Carriers, celebrada en Copenhague (Dinamarca) del 22 al 26 de mayo de 2018., Magnetic hyperthermia (MHT) a strategy to achieve selective heating of target tissues is based on the use of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) as nano-heaters, through the coupling between an external alternating magnetic field (AMF) and the magnetic moment of the MNPs. Since the MNPs uploaded into the target cells are the heating source, their amount and final distribution within the intracellular space are two parameters of relevance in any physical model of cell death induced by MHT. Imaging analysis through electron microscopies has proven a potent tool for establishing the intracellular biodistribution. This work presents FIB-SEM a study on the intracellular distributions of different MNPs (Fe3O4, MnFe2O4 and CoFe2O4) within neuroblastoma and microglial cells before and after MHT. The MNP-loaded cells were seeded and fixed directly on coverslips, then were cross-sectioned by FIB, and analyzed by FIB-SEM in order to explore the final intracellular MNPs distribution. Embedding the MNP-loaded cells after the application of an ac magnetic field with an epoxy-resin allowed us to use the “slice and view” protocol to identify the changes on cell morphology and membrane integrity through 3D reconstruction.

R510 es una empresa comercializadora de chaquetas en jean para dama y caballero con confección nacional e internacional en conexión con diferentes satélites y fábricas especializadas en confección del producto ofrecido por la empresa, R510 tiene como objetivo satisfacer el gusto de personas con edades desde los 15 a los 64 años de edad. Un mercado extenso debido a que cubre un alto rango de edad en las personas colombianas, y el nicho de mercado objetivo son personas que están entre los estratos 1 al 4 que residan en Bogotá, sus alrededores y departamentos principales como el Quindío y Nariño. Son 67.600 personas que están propensas a la compra de la prenda lo cual equivale a un 0,002% del total de la población colombiana dentro de los estratos 1 al 4 con la edad del mercado objetivo. El proyecto tiene como objetivo principal realizar una importación de chaquetas de jean sin terminación desde la ciudad de Guangzhou, ubicada en Cantón (China), una de las ciudades con mayor comercio y confección mercantil en prendas de vestir. Es allí donde ITAIMASKA, una marca y fábrica de confección participar como proveedor de las chaquetas entregando así un producto listo y con procesos de tintorería especializados para iniciar el negocio se confeccionaran 4.000 unidades en total y estarán divididas en 1.000 chaquetas de hombre y 3.000 de dama. La terminación de la chaqueta será realizada en Bogotá al finalizar el proceso de legalización en Colombia y se dará inicio al etiquetado que consiste en marcar el producto colocando botones, marquillas, etiquetas y garras con R510; esta será almacenada cerca al establecimiento de venta ubicado en el centro comercial Gran San Victorino situado en el centro de la capital. El local es reconocido como Wizar’d Urban Jeans y su dueño Nilson Caballero será el socio comercial principal de R510 representado por Nicolás Torres. La empresa de Wizar’d cederá un espacio de su establecimiento para la venta de los productos de R510 con un servicio al cliente especializado y amigable, la promoción de las marcas al igual que la bodega y vendedores. La inversión de confección será pagada por R510 y los impuestos de legalización de importación serán pagados por Wizar’d, así mismo Wizar’d obtendrá el 30% de las ganancias del total de las ventas y R510 solo aportará el 30% de los costos indirectos de la compañía y obtendrá el 70% ganancias debido a su alta inversión . La proyección del proyecto tiene un resultado exitoso debido a que Wizar’d tiene una alta experiencia en el mercado y ventas por mayor por más de 8 años con un alto reconocimiento y que será incrementado por nuevos productos internacionales y nuevas estrategias de mercado, inventario y administración que serán manejados virtualmente por empresas como Facebook e Instagram para generar la mayor publicidad posible en nichos de mercado específicos; por otro lado el control financiero e inventarios la compañía ECOUNT será la responsable de obtener los datos; dentro de estos datos encontraremos los informes financieros que previamente ya fueron proyectados y tienen una proyección positiva durante los años siguientes con una TIR del 34,33% y un punto de equilibrio mínimo de 958 unidades mensuales. 246. Apremilast: A Novel Oral Treatment for Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis

Abstract

Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated disease associated with several co-morbidities and negative impacts on a patient's quality of life. Despite the advances in biologic therapy, there are still unmet needs in the treatment of psoriasis, as current treatments are limited in terms of long-term efficacy, tolerability, safety, route of administration, and cost. Apremilast is an oral, small-molecule phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor that works intracellularly by blocking the degradation of cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate, resulting in increased intracellular cyclic adenosine 3',5'-monophosphate levels in phosphodiesterase 4-expressing cells. This inhibition results in the reduced expression of proinflammatory mediators, and an increased expression of anti-inflammatory mediators, providing apremilast with an anti-inflammatory rather than immunosuppressive mode of action. Apremilast offers a novel therapeutic option for patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and may fulfill some of the unmet needs in patients with psoriasis. Potential advantages of apremilast include moderate activity for both psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and efficacy in difficult-to-treat forms of psoriasis, a good safety profile, no need of laboratory prescreening or ongoing monitoring for laboratory parameters, owing to the absence of organ toxicity, a potentially advantageous weight loss effect, and a convenient oral administration and dosing. Cost effectiveness and health economics considerations will be decisive in determining the ultimate place of apremilast in the therapeutic armamentarium for psoriasis.
