We, thus, investigated, for the first time, IB under naturalistic, multisensory stimulation by manipulating the intentionality, predictability, and causal event link. A total of five experiments without adaptation were conducted examining IB with: abstract stimuli (Experiment 1), naturalistic effects (Exp. 2), naturalistic action cue and effect matching (Exp. 3), naturalistic action cue and effect mismatching (Exp. 4), and naturalistic action cue and effect matching but mismatched response mapping (Exp. 5). Analyses of the data showed the absence of IB for abstract stimuli without action-effect adaptation (Exp. 1) and for effects that were not inherently causal or predictable of one's action (Exp. 2, 4, and 5). IB, however, was induced when the naturalistic sequence of action cue-effect was casually linked and predictable in terms of timing (Exp. 3). Overall, our results showed that induction of IB is dependent on the inherent causal and predictable association of an event from the cue to act to the consequence of that action, an association that is already present in everyday multisensory events.

The effect of the anthropometric characteristics on performances has been the subject of many studies (Reilly, T., Bangsbo, J., & Franks, A. (2000). Anthropometric and physiological predispositions for elite soccer. Journal of Sports Science, 18(9), 669-683) but performance also depends on different physiological parameters. The aim of the present study is to define the anthropometric and physiological variables that best predict performance time of 100 m freestyle swimming. Twenty-five competitive male swimmers (age: 15 ± 1.2 years) participated in the research. Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that arm span is the best predictor of 100 m freestyle swimming performance (r = 0.835). Arm span explains 68.5% of the variance of dependent variable (Adj R 2 : 0.685). In the final model, the variables that best describe 100 m freestyle swimming are the number of strokes of 100 m freestyle swimming, triceps skinfold, pelvis and shoulders width (Adj R 2 : 0.882). These findings confirm the importance of the anthropometric variables for swimming performance and could help coaches in the selection of high-level athletes. © ACAPS, EDP Sciences, 2019.

During cardiac operations, weaning from cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) may prove challenging as a result of superimposed acute right ventricular dysfunction in the setting of elevated pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR). The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the effect of inhaled milrinone versus inhaled iloprost in patients with persistent pulmonary hypertension following discontinuation of CPB. Eighteen patients with elevated PVR post-bypass were administered inhaled milrinone at a cumulative dose of 50 μg kg−1. These patients were retrospectively matched with 18 patients who were administered 20 μg of inhaled iloprost. Both drugs were administered through a disposable aerosol-generating jet nebulizer device and inhaled for a 15-min period. Hemodynamic measurements were performed before and after cessation of the inhalation period. Both inhaled milrinone and inhaled iloprost induced significant reductions in mean pulmonary artery pressure and PVR and significant increases in cardiac index in patients with post-CPB pulmonary hypertension. The favorable effect of both agents on the pulmonary vasculature was confirmed by echocardiographic measurements. Both agents were devoid of systemic side effects, since mean arterial pressure and systemic vascular resistance were not affected. A decrease in intrapulmonary shunt by inhalation of both agents was also demonstrated. Pulmonary vasodilatation attributed to iloprost seems to be of greater magnitude and of longer duration as compared to that of inhaled milrinone. Both substances proved to be selective pulmonary vasodilators. The greater magnitude and of longer duration vasodilatation attributed to iloprost may be due to its longer duration of action.

Technology development has made a decisive contribution to the digitisation of businesses, which makes it easier for them to work more efficiently. However, in recent years, data leakages have shown an increasing trend. To investigate the level of awareness among Cypriot accountancy firms about cyber-related risks, we use the data from a recent survey of Cypriot professional accountants' members of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC). The categorical nature of the data and the purpose of our research led us to use methods of multidimensional statistical analysis. The emergence of intense differences between accounting companies in relation to the issue as we will present is particularly interesting.

Numerous technical modifications and various complications of the Senning procedure have been described in the literature. We describe the excellent clinical status and anatomic result of a 33-year-old patient who underwent a modified Senning operation using the left atrial appendage for reconstruction more than 30 years prior to presentation.

Objectives : To evaluate Greek pharmacists' willingness to use a new Web-based software program to detect drug-food interactions, to assess the experience of those pharmacists opting to use the program, and to estimate the public benefit associated with use of the program. Practice innovation and results The Nutrition-Drug Interaction program was developed to enable Greek pharmacists to access an online database of medication-related information, including detailed drug and pharmaceutical company listings, nutritional guidelines for patients, potential drug- food and drug-drug interactions, and reaction alerts. More than 50% of the community pharmacists agreeing to use the program found it "quite useful" or "very useful," with more than 62% saying they were "very satisfied" or "quite satisfied" with the quality of information provided through the program. Conclusion A significant proportion of Greek pharmacists, especially those 50 years of age or younger, found a new Web-based drug-food interaction software program to be both informative and useful. Participating pharmacists reported that use of the new program enhanced their role as health consultants and helped improve the quality of the patient services they provide.

Σκοπός αυτής της μελέτης είναι η διερεύνηση του τρόπου πραγματοποίησης τελικής προσπάθειας (σουτ) σε ποδοσφαιρικούς αγώνες διαφορετικών επιπέδων, καθώς και η συσχέτιση της τελικής προσπάθειας με την επίτευξη τέρματος, αλλά και του τελικού αποτελέσματος των αναμετρήσεων. Τα στοιχεία που συλλέχθηκαν αφορούσαν 20 αγώνες κατά την περίοδο 2015-16 και έγινε διερεύνηση σχετικά με το αποτέλεσμα των αγώνων σε σχέση με την έδρα, την επίτευξη τερμάτων σε σχέση με την έδρα, το χώρο επίτευξης τερμάτων, την επίτευξη τερμάτων ανά ημίχρονο καθώς και ανά 15λεπτα. Επίσης διερευνήθηκε ο τρόπος επίτευξης τερμάτων, η κατάληξη των σουτ, η εκτέλεση σουτ ανά ημίχρονο και ανά 15λεπτα καθώς και ο αριθμός των σουτ που εκτελέστηκαν εντός και εκτός περιοχής. Τα δεδομένα συλλέχθηκαν με τη μέθοδο της παρατήρησης και της βιντεοανάλυσης. Η στατιστική ανάλυση πραγματοποιήθηκε με το πρόγραμμα Excel. Τα αποτελέσματα καταδεικνύουν ότι η έδρα δεν παίζει καθοριστικό ρόλο στην επίτευξη τερμάτων καθώς και την εκτέλεση τελικών προσπαθειών. Επίσης τα περισσότερα τέρματα επιτεύχθηκαν στο δεύτερο ημίχρονο παρότι ο αριθμός των σουτ ήταν σχετικά μοιρασμένος ανά ημίχρονο. Ακόμη τα περισσότερα τέρματα επιτεύχθηκαν εντός περιοχής, ενώ τα περισσότερα σουτ που δοκίμασαν οι ποδοσφαιριστές ήταν εκτός περιοχής. no

During the last decades, the power grid is getting rapidly digitalised in order to contribute to theestablishment of Smart Grids and evaluate efficiently the extracted bidirectional data from the powersystem infrastructure. This thesis focuses on the MV grid, since its design and operation have changedmainly because of distributed generation installations and the increased demand of information fromstakeholders. Thus, asset management constitutes a significant tool that can increase the reliability ofthe MV network’s operation and its level of control. Studies have shown that a maintenance planbased on condition monitoring of power system apparatuses would be more effective compared to theimplemented time-based scheduled maintenance.This project focuses on MV remotely controlled disconnectors since studies have shown that theirnumber of failures is double compared to manually operated ones. Since maneuverability andsecondary function are the causes of a major failure with the highest occurrence rate, motor currentmonitoring is studied in this thesis. Some devices that have the capability to monitor disconnectors’motor current, are presented. Additionally, the obtained max motor current measurements areevaluated through a parametric and a non-parametric statistical test. The main challenge of this thesisis to show whether the behaviour of motor current can be an indicator regarding to the disconnector’scondition status.Hence, the impact of different factors on the behaviour of motor current is investigated. It is concludedthat disconnectors without a failure during the studied period are more likely to have max motorcurrent measurements higher than 8A and especially in the interval [10-12]A. The difference in motorcurrent of disconnectors with a work order and without failure is more significant in 2015/2016. Itseems that under the aforementioned values of max motor current, a disconnector is more probable tohave the capability to operate properly. It is also concluded that in case of malfunction “Mellanläge”,the value of max motor current is lower than 8A with higher probability and it maybe indicates aproblem of the studied disconnector.Through the comparison in pairs, it could be concluded that the effect of the external environmentalconditions is not so high on the behaviour of disconnectors’ max motor current measurements. Incontrast, it seems that the implementation of a work order, the number of operations and if adisconnector is installed more northerly in Zone 3 play a more significant role on the behaviour of thisdisconnector’s max motor current measurements. Consequently, based on the aforementioned results itis shown that some of the investigated factors could constitute an indicator whether a disconnector ismore or less probable to have the capability to operate properly.Finally, it is calculated the reduction in the interruption cost that could be achieved in case ofimplementation of motor current monitoring on Vattenfall’s remotely controlled distributeddisconnectors. Skillnaden i motors strömmar hosfrånskiljare med arbetsorder och utan fel är mer signifikant under åren 2015/2016. Det verkar som attenligt ovan nämnda värden på max motorström, är en frånskiljare mer sannolikt att fungera korrekt.Det kommer också fram till att i händelse av "Mellanläge" är värdet av max motorströmmar lägre än8A med högre sannolikhet, detta kan kanske indikera ett problem hos frånskiljaren.Genom jämförelsen kan man dra slutsatsen att effekten av de yttre miljöförhållandena inte är så högpå maximala motorströmmar hos frånskiljare. Däremot verkar det som om genomförandet av enarbetsorder, antalet operationer och om en frånskiljare är installerad i zon 3 spelar en viktig roll föruppförandet av denna frånskiljares maximala motors strömmen. På grundval av det ovan nämndaresultatet framgår det att några av de undersökta faktorerna kan utgöra en indikator på att om enfrånskiljare är mer eller mindre sannolikt att ha förmågan att fungera korrekt.Slutligen visar beräkningar att minskningen av avbrottskostnaden kan uppnås vid genomförande avmotorströmövervakning på Vattenfalls fjärrstyrda distribuerade frånskiljare.

This deliverable reports on the collected requirements from the local communities, in terms of common challenges, difficulties and limitations that should be taken into consideration during the software solution development.

The standard technique of catheter closure of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) may be associated with arterial complications particularly in small pediatric patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether catheter closure of PDA in small children using an exclusive venous approach is a safe and effective alternative to closure with the standard technique. One hundred-twelve patients, aged 2 to 24 months, were randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to catheter closure of PDA using the standard technique (group 1) and an exclusive venous approach (group 2), respectively. In group 2, the procedure was guided using hand injections of contrast media through the delivery sheath and 2-dimensional and color Doppler echocardiography. Group 1: the PDA diameter ranged from 2 to 5.5 mm and the device diameter ranged from 4 to 8 mm. The PDA occluders were permanently implanted in all patients. Five losses of the arterial pulses that were restored with intravenous infusion of heparin and recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA), and 4 groin hematomas were the main complications of the procedure. Group 2: the mean PDA diameter ranged from 2.5 to 6 mm and the device diameter ranged from 3 to 8 mm. The PDA occluders were permanently implanted in all but 2 patients. There were no complications. Complete echocardiographic closure of PDA at 1-month follow-up was observed in all 110 patients. Exclusive transvenous PDA occlusion is an effective and safe technique that prevents the arterial complications of the standard approach in small children.

Foliage and litter samples of 10 Medicago species were collected in Greece during a 2-year study in order to record the mite fauna. The Medicago species comprised cultivated and wild plants of the Greek flora, including one endemic species of Crete. One hundred and nine taxa for the Acari fauna were recorded, among them new taxa for the Acari fauna of Greece as well as for some of the Medicago species collected.

Differences in the Efficiency Between the Grab and Track Starts for Both Genders in Greek Young Swimmers The aim of this study was to determine the differences in the kinematic parameters between the grab and track starts and the differences in these two starts between genders. A total of 27 swimmers at the competitive level participated in the study, 13 boys (mean ± SD: age 15.8 ± 0.8 years, body mass 67.7 ± 7.7 kg and body height 178.6 ± 5.7 cm) and 14 girls (mean ± SD: age 16 ± 0.8 years, body mass 59.2 ± 6.6 kg and body height 166.2 ± 6.7 cm). Each swimmer performed three attempts for both start techniques. The best attempt of the grab start and the track start was taken for further analysis. The following kinematic parameters were analysed: flight distance, flight time, flight velocity, entry angle and reaction time. The males had greater numeric values for the results in all kinematic parameters for the grab start compared with the track start, except for flight velocity and entry angle (flight time 0.42 vs. 0.41 s, flight distance 3.21 vs. 3.14 m, flight velocity 7.76 vs. 7.83 m/s, entry angle 44.22 vs. 43.85 degrees and reaction time 0.86 vs. 0.81 s). The females also had greater numeric values for the results in all kinematic parameters for the grab start compared with the track start, except for flight time (flight time 0.38 vs. 0.38 s, flight distance 2.82 vs. 2.73 m, flight velocity 7.47 vs. 7.31 m/s, entry angle 45.18 vs. 44.79 degrees and reaction time 0.88 vs. 0.82 s). These results indicate that the males had significantly better results for flight time and flight distance compared with the females for the grab start (flight time 0.42 vs. 0.38 s, flight distance 3.21 vs. 2.82 m). In the case of the track start, the males had significantly better results for flight distance (3.14 vs. 2.73 m). Exploring the characteristics of the two starts did not lead to any significant kinematic differences. Therefore, a conclusion that demonstrates the superiority of one of the techniques cannot be reached. The coach, together with each swimmer individually, should devote some time to decide after some tests what type of start is better for the body type and general qualifications of the swimmer.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in maximum concentration of lactic acid in the blood, heart rate and performance time on the test of 4x50m freestyle swimming on a sample of two protocols: a) one breath every 3 strokes and b) 14-15m of every 50m were swum with underwater movement of the feet without breathing and a rest with one breath every 3 strokes (apnea). The sample consisted of 15 female swimmers of the competitive level aged: 15.0 ± 1.0 years. Their basic style was the freestyle. To determine the maximum blood lactate concentration, capillary blood samples were taken in the 3rd, 5th, 7th minute and analyzed by the automatic analyzer Scout Lactate Germany. We also measured the heart rate immediately after each swimming protocol. The ANOVA showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the two protocols. Maximum lactate concentration in the protocol with apnea was 10.02 ± 3.05mmol / L and without apnea 8.9 ± 3.5mmol / L. Heart rate was 186 ± 6 and 186 ± 7 b/min respectively, and performance time 140.04 ± 8.13 and 138.73 ± 8.01sec in swimmers aged 14-16. Swimming apnea needs to be studied in a larger age sample with more variables to ascertain the effects on sprint swimming.

In this paper, we use sixteen financial indices from the World Bank's Financial Development and Structure database, to classify the OECD countries, according to their financial system structure, in five relatively homogenous clusters for the 1996-2005 period. We also examine the changes in their financial systems for the 1986-2005 period. Our analysis is based on the ‘agglomerative method', a form of hierarchical clustering that uses Ward's methodology, to identify relatively homogenous groups of countries. The findings are surprising, yet reasonable. After two decades of deregulation, liberalization and globalization, the financial systems of the OECD countries not only differ in ways challenging the perceived wisdom that classifies them along the bank-based vs. capital-market-based norms, but additionally do not seem to converge to the second norm as is widely believed. These results warn against oversimplifications regarding financial system structure and the uncritical acceptance of policy recommendations based on them.• JEL Classification: G10, G20

This study focusses on the estimation of seismic fragility curves for all common bridge types found in modern greek motorways. At first a classification scheme is developed in order to classify the existing bridges into a sufficient number of classes. A total of 11 representative bridge classes resulted, based on the type of piers, deck, and pier-to-deck connection. Then an analytical methodology for deriving fragility curves is proposed and applied to the representative bridge models. This procedure is based on pushover analysis of the entire bridge and definition of damage states in terms of parameters of the bridge pushover curves. The procedure differentiates the way of defining damage according to the seismic energy dissipation mechanism in each bridge, i.e. bridges with yielding piers of the column type and bridges with bearings (with or without seismic links) and non-yielding piers of the wall type. The activation of the abutment-backfill system due to closure of the gap between the deck and the abutments is also taken into account. The derived fragility curves are subjected to a first calibration against empirical curves based on damage data from the US and Japan.

The transcatheter closure of certain types of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) remains a challenge. The investigators report initial clinical experience with 25 patients who underwent PDA occlusion with the use of a swivel-disk device (SDD) or a plug occluder (PO). The patients were divided into 2 groups: in the SDD group, 12 patients aged 1 to 2 years with type A PDA underwent attempted closure using the SDD, a modified Amplatzer duct occluder with a very low profile retention disk that can adapt itself at different PDA insertion angles. The mean PDA diameter was 4.8 +/- 1.5 mm (range 3.8 to 8). In the PO group, 13 patients aged 0.5 to 3 years with type C, D, or E PDA underwent attempted occlusion with the PO, a tubular occluder made of Nitinol wire mesh. The mean PDA diameter was 4.2 +/- 3.5 mm (range 1.2 to 9). The 2 occluders are filled with Dacron patches. The mean device diameters were 6.5 +/- 1.2 and 6.8 +/- 2.2 mm (range 4 to 11) in the SDD and PO groups, respectively. Complete angiographic closure was seen in 24 of 25 patients. The deployment of 4 5-PDA5 coils abolished a residual shunt associated with hemolysis in a 5-month-old patient with a large type C PDA after the implantation of an 11-mm PO. No other complications were observed. In conclusion, the SDD and the PO are promising additions to the armamentarium for PDA closure.

We analyze the welfare effects of an unfunded social security system. We do so using an overlapping generations economy wherein agents have self-control preferences, face mortality risk, individual income risk, and borrowing constraints. Given our specification of preferences, unfunded social security helps reduce the agents’ temptation to consume in every period; consequently, the welfare costs it otherwise entails are substantially mitigated. While both social security and self-control when considered separately reduce welfare, their combination renders this effect considerably less severe. Moreover, if the cost of resisting temptation is very high, the introduction of social security might even improve welfare.

Background Over the years, numerous options have been proposed for surgical management of ascending aorta and aortic arch pathology in an attempt to minimize postoperative morbidity and probability of death. We present a propensity score-matching analysis of 259 patients from a single unit who were operated on under deep hypothermic arrest with retrograde cerebral perfusion (DHCA/RCP) or moderate hypothermic circulatory arrest with selective antegrade cerebral perfusion (via common carotid artery) (MHCA/ACP). Methods Between 2006 and 2014 a total of 259 consecutive patients underwent ascending aorta and hemiarch correction under HCA. DHCA/RCP and MHCA/ACP were performed on 207 and 52 patients, respectively. Baseline patient characteristics accounted for in the propensity matching were age, sex, acute aortic dissection, emergency operation, re-operation, preoperative hemodynamic instability, preoperative kidney injury, and CA time. After propensity scoring 40 pairs (80 patients) were successfully matched (p = 0.732). Outcomes were defined as the incidence of postoperative neurologic complications, 30-day mortality, and all-cause midterm mortality. Results Surgical procedure that involved the MHCA/ACP technique was associated with 76.5% decreased risk (risk ratio, 0.235; 95% CI, 0.079 to 0.699) of postoperative neurologic complications (p = 0.009). In addition to MHCA/ACP in surgical procedure for acute aortic dissection a relevant trend was established for 30-day mortality (risk ratio, 0.333; 95% CI, 0.09 to 1.23). For midterm all-cause mortality, MHCA/ACP modestly decreased the number of deaths (p = 0.0456) in comparison with the DHCA/RCP technique. Conclusions MHCA/ACP in aortic arch surgical procedure is associated with a decreased risk of all types of neurologic complications and a trend toward decreased 30-day and midterm mortality in comparison with DHCA/RCP. © 2016 The Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
