The main goal of the research I present in this thesis is to highlight the ethical self from the philosophies of Emmanuel Levinas and Charles Taylor. I am trying to show that the self only reveals itself through ethics. Levinas and Taylor insist on it. However, we must reflect on differences between these two ethics. For this reason, the first part deals with what the Levinasian and Taylorian ethics are against: on impersonality. Of course, Levinasian impersonality is different from Taylorian impersonality. But these two philosophers assert that the self cannot be engendered by and in impersonality. So they turn their eyes to ethics. In the second part, I take this point into consideration. However, the Levinsian ethic is irreducible to the Taylorian ethic; for Levinas, ethics is ethics of the other's otherness, while Taylorian ethics aims at the authenticity of the self. However, despite this, their ethics come to a rather similar conclusion: the self is possible only from ethics; the self relates to the supreme good. To deepen this point, in the third part, I take into account the language. Language, in both Levinas and Taylor, is not the simple collection of signs, but is ethical: the good, to which the self is attached, in them, would be impossible without language. Language plays a big role in ethics. But language doesn't stop where ethics reside: in a sense, language goes beyond ethics. For Levinasian thought on language like that of Taylor leads to reflection on sociality, where the self, by encountering the other, is anchored. This is the reason why, in the conclusion, I will propose to think of the “we” from the Levinsian and Taylorian philosophies. The “we” is not at first glance the plural pronoun of the first person, but is what must be taken into account from the point of view of ethics, of otherness.; Les recherches que je présente dans cette thèse ont pour but principal de mettre en évidence le soi éthique à partir des philosophies d’Emmanuel Levinas et de Charles Taylor. J’essaie de montrer que le soi ne se révèle qu’à partir de l’éthique. Levinas et Taylor y insistent. Pourtant, il faut réfléchir sur des différences entre ces deux éthiques. Pour cette raison, la première partie porte sur ce contre quoi les éthiques levinassienne et taylorienne sont : sur l’impersonnalité. Bien entendu, l’impersonnalité levinassienne est différente de l’impersonnalité taylorienne. Mais ces deux philosophes affirment que le soi ne peut être engendré par et dans l’impersonnalité. Donc, ils tournent leurs yeux vers l’éthique. Dans la deuxième partie, je prends en considération ce point. Cependant, l’éthique levinassienne est irréductible à l’éthique taylorienne ; pour Levinas, l’éthique est éthique de l’altérité de l’autre, alors que l’éthique taylorienne vise à l’authenticité du soi. Cependant, en dépit de cela, leurs éthiques parviennent à une conclusion assez similaire : le soi n’est possible qu’à partir de l’éthique ; le soi se rapporte au bien suprême. Pour approfondir ce point, dans la troisième partie, je prends en compte le langage. Le langage, tant chez Levinas que chez Taylor, n’est pas le rassemblement simple des signes, mais est éthique : le bien, auquel le soi s’attache, chez eux, serait impossible sans le langage. Le langage joue un grand rôle dans l’éthique. Mais le langage ne s’arrête pas là où l’éthique réside : en un sens, le langage dépasse l’éthique. Car la pensée levinasienne sur le langage comme celle de Taylor aboutit à la réflexion sur la socialité, où le soi, en rencontrant autrui, est ancré. C’est la raison pour laquelle, dans la conclusion, je me proposerai de penser au nous à partir des philosophies levinassienne et taylorienne. Le nous n’est pas de prime abord le pronom pluriel de la première personne, mais est ce qu’il faut prendre en compte à partir de l’éthique, de l’altérité.

The essay represents an attempt to recuperate the notion of Christian magnanimity in the so-called Post-Christian age. In the secularised contemporary environment, magnanimity has acquired a naturalised character and expresses itself in the language of inclusiveness and rights. Yet the reality that it can claim is self-constructed and a version of modern nihilism. Elder Sophrony's idea of hypostatic principle, operative at once in divine reality and Christ-centred prayer, not only recuperates the transformative spirit of Christian revelation but, working within the tradition of hesychastic spirituality, proposes an alternative sense of inclusivity that is more satisfying and truthful.

The paper attempts to analyze the theoretical conditions of the possible conflict between the New Atheism and modern secular liberal democracies. After short presentation of a few main components of neoatheistic thinking I concentrate on the notion of secularism as proposed by Charles Taylor. I conclude that by identifying the religion as “the root of all evil” the New Atheists are revealing the unjustifiable lack of judgment, as their aggressive antireligious stance generates rather crises and conflicts than social harmony. Artykuł jest próbą analizy teoretycznych warunków możliwego konfliktu między nowym ateizmem a współczesnymi liberalnymi, świeckimi demokracjami. Po krótkiej prezentacji kilku głównych składników myślenia neoateistycznego koncentruję się na pojęciu sekularyzmu w wersji zaproponowanej przez Charlesa Taylora. Dochodzę do wniosku, że nowi ateiści, utożsamiając religię ze „źródłem wszelkiego zła”, wykazują się brakiem rozwagi, ponieważ ich agresywna, antyreligijna postawa generuje raczej kryzysy i konflikty niż społeczną harmonię.

A questão que pretende-se norteadora deste texto direciona-se à igualdade metodológica entre o pensamento de Charles Taylor e Nietzsche, bem como suas diferentes compreensões acerca da construção do edifício moral. Daquilo que torna próximas as duas expressões filosóficas, certamente é possível pontuar a leitura histórica à que os dois se propõem realizar. Entretanto, enquanto em Taylor o que se pretende, com certa relevância, principalmente em seu livro As fontes do Self, é, por meio de uma hermenêutica genealógica, aclarar as fontes da moral que prefiguram a relação entre identidade e bem na modernidade, em Nietzsche a busca pela origem da moralidade assume uma posição negativa e aponta para a decadência do homem. Diferente de Taylor que viu em tal negação as raízes da dignidade do homem moderno, Nietzsche concebe essa relação como degeneração de tudo que é grande no homem, que só é possível a partir da afirmação não só do belo, mas, também, do feio e do sofrimento, compreendendo-o como instante de possibilidade de um vir-a-ser maior.

La presència de microplàstics en mars i oceans suposa una problemàtica pels ecosistemes marins afectant directament la salut dels éssers vius que s’hi troben. Els microplàstics col·lisionen amb biopartícules, per efecte de mecanismes de turbulència i càustiques, formant agregats que provoquen la dispersió vertical d’aquests microplàstics fet que suposa una dificultat afegida per la seva possible extracció de les aigües marines. Aquest treball té com a objectiu estudiar la dinàmica de la ràtio de col·lisions i la formació d’agregats entre microplàstics i biopartícules al mar, així com determinar la importància dels grups adimensionals que regeixen les interaccions entre elles. Els resultats que es presenten s’han obtingut a través de simulacions computacionals que han permès obtenir la ratió de col·lisió i les característiques constitutives dels agregats formats. S’ha utilitzat un model teòric per determinar en quines configuracions inicials predomina l’efecte de la turbulència o l’efecte de la càustica en la mecànica de producció de col·lisions. La presencia de microplásticos en mares y océanos supone una problemática para los ecosistemas marinos afectando directamente la salud de los seres vivos que ahí se encuentran. Los microplásticos colisionan con biopartículas, por efecto de mecanismos de turbulencia y causticas, formando agregados que provocan la dispersión vertical de estos microplásticos, hecho que supone una dificultad añadida para su posible extracción de aguas marinas. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo estudiar la dinámica de la ratio de colisión i la formación de agregados entre microplásticos y biopartículas en el mar, así como determinar la importancia de los grupos adimensionales que rigen las interacciones entre ellas. Los resultados que se presentan se han obtenido a través de simulaciones computacionales que han permitido obtener la ratio de colisiones y las características constitutivas de los agregados formados. Se ha usado un modelo teórico para determinar en cuáles configuraciones iniciales prima el efecto de la turbulencia o el de la cáustica en el mecanismo de producción de colisiones. Microplastic collide with bioparticles due to the effect of turbulence and caustic mechanisms, creating aggregates that cause the vertical dispersion of these microplastics, which is an added difficulty to their possible extraction from sea. This work aims to study the dynamics of the collision rate and the formation of aggregates between microplastic and bioparticles in the sea, as well as to determine the importance of the dimensionless groups that govern the interactions between them. The results presented have been obtained through computational simulations that have made possible to obtain the collision rate and the constitutive characteristics of formed aggregates. A theoretical model has been used to determine in which initial configurations the effect of turbulence or the effect of caustics predominates on collision production mechanisms. The "absolute" scope and the ultimate condition of the Hegelian system has been a philosophical problem that some interpreters have described as "unsurpassable". This scope is interpreted by Charles Taylor as an absolute spirit that is "embodied" in finite spirits, whose freedom is a condition of possibility for its realization. Robert Pippin is dissatisfied with the interpretation of the subject as the "receiver" of the spirit, since it makes access to a concept of "freedom" understood as social recognition difficult. In the present work these two perspectives have been presented and compared and it has been concluded that, although they offer very diverse interpretations of Hegelian texts, their theses are largely complementary. This coincidence allows a new consideration of Hegel's traditional commentators. El alcance “absoluto” y el carácter definitivo del sistema hegeliano han constituido un problema filosófico que algunos intérpretes han calificado como “insuperable”. Este alcance es interpretado por Charles Taylor como un espíritu absoluto que queda “encarnado” en los espíritus finitos, cuya libertad es condición de posibilidad para su realización. Robert Pippin se muestra insatisfecho con la interpretación del sujeto en tanto “receptor” del espíritu, puesto que dificulta el acceso a un concepto de “libertad” entendido como reconocimiento social. En el presente trabajo se han presentado y comparado estas dos perspectivas y se ha concluido que, aunque ofrecen interpretaciones muy diversas sobre los textos hegelianos, sus tesis son en gran medida complementarias. Esta coincidencia permite una nueva consideración de los comentaristas tradicionales de Hegel.

Il senso dell’umano è analizzato in riferimento ai contenuti dei diritti umani intesi come un insieme di convinzioni concernenti l’azione su cui vi è convergenza di differenti prospettive culturali. Il concetto di dignità è discusso evidenziando il nesso tra la dignità di sé e la dignità in relazione sulla base dell’approccio incentrato sulla dotazione e dell’approccio della prestazione. The sense of the human is analyzed with reference to the contents of human rights understood as a single body of beliefs concerning action on which there is a convergence of different cultural perspectives. The notion of dignity is discussed highlighting the link between dignity-of-self and dignity-in-relation on the basis of the endowment approach and the performance approach.

The paper examines connections between ontology and finance. The ontological debates concerning the role of finance are examined between two opposing schools of thought that can be labelled, very broadly, ‘instrumentalist’ and ‘realist’(analytic-interpretivist). These two schools of thought have had momentous repercussions in understanding what is a good society. Each school defines Nature in particular ways which can be explored using ontology and philosophical insight. Our theoretical investigation aims to accommodate Nature in community financial deliberations. A positive role for governmentis advocated to finance environmental infrastructure initiatives. For example, precautionary strategies to address climate change must be funded. New roles for finance and government are proposed to align human relationships with Nature. Environmental precautionary principles must be developed in conjunction with finance theory to maintain decent standards of living for all. Reliance on impersonal market forces will not be enough to save the planet given the power of some over the many in the neoliberal arena. Refereed/Peer-reviewed
