There is increasing evidence that lifestyle factors play an important role in the development of hypertension and dyslipidemia. However, existing research usually evaluated these risk factors individually (such as physical activity, smoking, drinking, obesity and so on), rather than joint evaluation. The aim of this study was to quantify the association between a combination of a healthy lifestyle and the risk of hypertension and dyslipidemia.A healthy lifestyle score was created based on 4 factors: never smoking, moderate to high-intensive physical activity, no alcohol drinking, and normal body mass index. We calculated the healthy lifestyle score using the cumulative number of health factors for each individual. Also, a multivariate analysis was used to assess the relationship between healthy lifestyle and hypertension and dyslipidemia. Among 6446 participants, 650 (10.08%) had lowest healthy lifestyle score (0) and 627 (9.72%) had highest healthy lifestyle score (4), respectively. The adjustment model indicated that participants with the highest score (score: 4), which integrated the four lifestyles, had significantly lower ORs for hypertension compared with the lowest score (score: 0) (0.21; (95%CI: 0.10, 0.43 P-trend0.001)). In the adjustment models, compared with lowest healthy lifestyle score, the ORs of highest healthy lifestyle score was: 0.17; (95%CI: 0.07, 0.42 P-trend0.001) for dyslipidemia.Hypertension and dyslipidemia were negatively correlated with healthy lifestyle score. Interventions with healthy lifestyle to reduce hypertension, dyslipidemia and promote population health are warranted.

The neuroprotective roles of uric acid are still controversial. One possible explanation is that previous studies included participants with hyperuricemia, which might interfere with clarifying the association. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the prospective association between plasma uric acid levels and cognitive function among non-hyperuricemia adults.A total of 7828 participants from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) who were free from hyperuricemia, brain damage, mental retardation, or memory-related diseases at baseline were included. According to the baseline plasma uric acid levels, participants were classified into low (3.5 mg/dL for men and2.5 mg/dL for women), low-normal (3.5-4.9 mg/dL for men and 2.5-3.9 mg/dL for women), and high-normal groups (4.9-7.0 mg/dL for men and 3.9-6.0 mg/dL for women). Cognitive function tests covered the domains of executive function (time orientation, numerical ability, and drawing) and episodic memory (immediate and delayed word recall). We used generalized estimating equation models to evaluate the average difference in cognitive function within 4-years' follow-up across different uric acid groups.Compared with the high-normal group, participants with lower uric acid levels were associated with poorer cognitive performance during 4-years' follow-up. The corresponding level of difference was -0.24 (95% CI: -0.47, -0.01) for low group, and -0.13 (95% CI: -0.26, -0.01) for low-normal group. The associations were significant and similar for the specific domain of executive function (P 0.001). In addition, a stronger association was observed among participants with baseline age ≥60 years (P 0.05 for interaction).Our study supports a potential detrimental role of low levels of plasma uric acid on cognitive function among Chinese adults without hyperuricemia. More research is warranted to confirm this finding and identify the optimal plasma uric acid level for cognitive benefits.

At present, the main pricing methods for carbon sink trading are marginal cost pricing, shadow price pricing and physical option pricing. The most serious defect of these three methods is that their theoretical basis is the extremely idealized effective market hypothesis, which obviously does not conform to the fractal and chaotic behavior characteristics of the actual carbon sink trading market. It is particularly important to study new pricing technologies and methods for a complex, nonlinear and dissipative system. Therefore, this paper constructs a carbon sink price prediction method based on the radial basis kernel function support vector machine (RBF-SVM) model. The main findings are the following: • Compared with the build nonlinear support vector machine (SVM) models by the three kernel functions: linear kernel function (LF), radial basis function (RBF) and sigmoid kernel function, the RBF-SVM has the highest prediction accuracy. • The adaptability of the RBF-SVM model is tested by using the price fluctuation data of EU allowance (EUA). It is proved that the adaptability of the RBF-SVM model for the price predictions of heterogeneous carbon products is also excellent. • The forecast results of the RBF-SVM model for carbon sink price for the period of September 2021 to August 2022 show that the lowest carbon sink price of 20 euros is expected to occur around November 2021 and the highest price of 38.5 euros around August 2022. Therefore, the established RBF-SVM model can be used for carbon sink trading market price prediction, which is more scientific and applicable than the previous three methods.

During neuronal development, extensive changes to chromatin states occur to regulate lineage-specific gene expression. The molecular factors underlying the repression of non-neuronal genes in differentiated neurons are poorly characterised. The Mi2/NuRD complex is a multiprotein complex with nucleosome remodelling and histone deacetylase activity. Whilst NuRD has previously been implicated in the development of nervous system tissues the precise nature of the gene expression programmes that it coordinates are ill-defined. Furthermore, evidence from several species suggests that Mi-2 may be incorporated into multiple complexes that may not possess histone deacetylase activity. We show that Mi-2 activity is required for suppressing ectopic expression of germline genes in neurons independently of HDAC1/NuRD, whilst components of NuRD, including Mi-2, regulate neural gene expression to ensure proper development of the larval nervous system. We find that Mi-2 binding in the genome is dynamic during neuronal maturation and Mi-2 mediated repression of ectopic gene expression is restricted to the early stages of neuronal development, indicating that Mi-2/NuRD is required for establishing stable neuronal transcriptomes during the early stages of neuronal differentiation.

Plant disease is one of the most serious problems in agriculture that can damage crops. Chemical fungicides are widely used to control plant diseases, but have led to resistance and a series of environmental problems. It is, therefore, necessary to develop highly effective and eco-friendly antimicrobial compounds with novel structures.A series of novel hydantoin cyclohexyl sulfonamide derivatives were synthesized through an intramolecular condensation reaction. The bioassay results indicated that a majority of the title compounds displayed potent inhibitory activity against Botrytis cinerea, Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Erwinia carotorora. The in vivo inhibition rate of compound 3h was 91.01% against B. cinerea, which was higher than that of iprodione (84.07%). Compound 3w showed excellent antifungal activity against B. cinerea with a half-maximal effective concentration (ECBecause of their excellent antifungal and antibacterial activity against B. cinerea, S. sclerotiorum and E. carotorora, these hydantoin cyclohexyl sulfonamide derivatives could be considered as suitable candidates for new antimicrobial agents. © 2021 Society of Chemical Industry.

The phytochemical investigation on the fruits of Morinda citrifolia led to the isolation and characterization of a new anthraquinone, moricitrifone (1), along with seven known anthraquinones (2–8). The chemical structure of 1 was elucidated by extensive spectral analyses. The known compounds (2–8) were identified by comparing their spectral data with those reported in the literature. The antiproliferative activities of all isolated anthraquinones (1–8) against five human cancer cell lines: HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, MCF-7 and SW480 were evaluated in vitro. Compounds 1–8 exhibited remarkable antiproliferative activities with IC50 values ranging from 0.26 ± 0.05 to 16.58 ± 0.18 μM, which were comparable to those of doxorubicin.

In patients with stable coronary artery disease, low DBP is associated with an increased risk of myocardial infarction and cardiovascular death, but its association with clinical outcomes in patients with acute myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is unknown.Consecutive patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing PCI from January 2010 to June 2016 were enrolled. The patients were divided into five groups according to the quintiles of DBP at admission. The primary outcome was in-hospital major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) including all-cause death, stroke, target vessel revascularization, and recurrent myocardial infarction.A total of 2198 patients were enrolled, of whom 157 (7.1%) developed in-hospital MACE. Patients with DBP lower than 60 mmHg was associated with a higher rate of in-hospital MACE (14.8, 7.8, 5.6, 6.1, and 3.8%, P 0.001) and all-cause death (12.5, 6.4, 4.3, 3.9, and 1.9%, P 0.001) compared with those with DBP 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, and at least 90 mmHg. Multivariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated that DBP higher than 90 mmHg was a significant predictor of lower risk of in-hospital MACE (OR = 0.16, 95% CI = 0.04-0.61, P = 0.007). Cubic spline models for the association between DBP and MACE did not demonstrate a U-type relationship after adjusting for potential risk factors. During the follow-up, lower DBP was associated with a higher risk of all-cause death (P 0.0001).Lower DBP is independently associated with an elevated risk of in-hospital MACE and follow-up all-cause death.

Both improving the intrinsic activity and activating basal plane sites of the layered metal dichalcogenides are desirable to enhance their electrocatalytic performance for energy storage and conversion. Herein, we present palladium (Pd)-doped tungsten disulfide (WS2) epitaxially sheathed around linear tungsten oxide for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The Pd doping is evidenced to tune the electronic structure of WS2 for activating basal sites of WS2, while the unique core-shell structure facilitates charge transfer. The as-prepared Pd-WS2/W3O with 5.65 wt % Pd content exhibits a small overpotential of only 54 mV at -10 mA cm-2 and superior stability in the acidic electrolyte, which are superior to that of the 5 wt % Pt/C benchmark and are unprecedented in the reported WS2-based electrocatalysts. Theoretical results have revealed that Pd substituting for W in coordination with four S atoms is thermodynamically stable, and the in-plane S atoms adjacent to the doped Pd represent new catalytic active centers for promoting hydrogen adsorption. This work provides a new multiscale structural and electronic engineering strategy for improving the catalytic performance of transition-metal dichalcogenides.

Rapid screening of infected individuals from a large population is an effective means in epidemiology, especially to contain outbreaks such as COVID-19. The gold standard assays for COVID-19 diagnostics are mainly based on the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, which mismatches the requirements for wide-population screening due to time-consuming nucleic acid extraction and amplification procedures. Here, we report a direct nucleic acid assay by using a graphene field-effect transistor (g-FET) with Y-shaped DNA dual probes (Y-dual probes). The assay relies on Y-dual probes modified on g-FET simultaneously targeting ORF1ab and N genes of SARS-CoV-2 nucleic acid, enabling high a recognition ratio and a limit of detection (0.03 copy μL–1) 1–2 orders of magnitude lower than existing nucleic acid assays. The assay realizes the fastest nucleic acid testing (∼1 min) and achieves direct 5-in-1 pooled testing for the first time. Owing to its rapid, ultrasensitive, easily operated features as well as capability in pooled testing, it holds great promise as a comprehensive tool for population-wide screening of COVID-19 and other epidemics.

The rapid development of artificial intelligence and deep learning has provided many opportunities to further enhance the safety, stability, and accuracy of industrial Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). As indispensable components to many mission-critical CPS assets and equipment, mechanical bearings need to be monitored to identify any trace of abnormal conditions. Most of the data-driven approaches applied to bearing fault diagnosis up-to-date are trained using a large amount of fault data collected a priori. In many practical applications, however, it can be unsafe and time-consuming to collect sufficient data samples for each fault category, making it challenging to train a robust classifier. In this paper, we propose a few-shot learning framework for bearing fault diagnosis based on model-agnostic meta-learning (MAML), which targets for training an effective fault classifier using limited data. In addition, it can leverage the training data and learn to identify new fault scenarios more efficiently. Case studies on the generalization to new artificial faults show that the proposed framework achieves an overall accuracy up to 25% higher than a Siamese network-based benchmark study. Finally, the robustness and the generalization capability of the proposed framework are further validated by applying it to identify real bearing damages using data from artificial damages, which compares favorably against 6 state-of-the-art few-shot learning algorithms using consistent test environments.

Objective To describe the clinical features and prognosis of pediatric anti-N-methyl- d -aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis from a single center in northern China. Methods The clinical and laboratory characteristics of hospitalized patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis, stratified by age, were retrospectively studied. Risk factors including relapse and long-term (follow-up ≥1 year) outcomes were analyzed. Results A total of 273 patients were included between November 2011 and December 2019, and the average age of onset was 7.5 ± 4.0 years (0.5–15.8 years). Of them, 159（58.2%） were female, and the proportion of females increased with age. Seizures were the most common initial symptom. Movement disorders（86.1%） and psychiatric（82.4%） symptoms were most frequent in the acute phase. In the acute stage, the incidence of movement disorders decreased with age (χ2 = 10.676, p = 0.011), while the proportion of psychiatric symptoms increased with age (χ2 = 21.85, p Conclusions The characteristics of anti-NMDAR encephalitis in children are age-dependent. Early-onset, the precursor of viral encephalitis, and ICU admission may indicate poor prognosis. Demyelination may be a risk factor for recurrence.

Total fertilization failure (TFF) is an important cause of infertility; however, the genetic basis of TFF caused by male factors remains to be clarified. In this study, whole-exome sequencing was firstly used to screen for genetic causes of TFF after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and homozygous variants in the novel gene IQ motif-containing N (IQCN) were identified in two affected individuals with abnormal acrosome structures. Then, Iqcn-knockout mice were generated by CRISPR-Cas9 technology and showed that the knockout male mice resembled the human phenotypes. Additionally, we found that IQCN regulates microtubule nucleation during manchette assembly via calmodulin and related calmodulin-binding proteins, which resulted in head deformity with aberrant oocyte activation factor PLCζ. Fortunately, ICSI with assisted oocyte activation can overcome IQCN-associate TFF and male infertility. Thus, our study firstly identified the function of IQCN, highlights the relationship between the manchette assembly and fertilization, and provides a genetic marker and a therapeutic option for male-source TFF.

Facile fabrication of porous carbon materials from waste halogenated plastic is highly attractive but frequently hampered due to potential release of halogenated organic pollutants. In this study, a novel type of carbon hybrid was tentatively synthesized from a real-world halogenated plastic as an inexpensive carbon source by sub/supercritical carbon dioxide carbonization technique. It was found that halogen-free carbon carrier was advantageously synthesized through carbonization of halogenated plastic without using catalysts due to zip depolymerization, random chain cracking and free radical reactions induced by sub/supercritical carbon dioxide technique. Exhibiting with more abundant functional groups including C-O, CO groups than pyrolytic carbon carrier, the derived carbon carrier demonstrated excellent performance in selective recovery of lithium from cathode powder with highest recovery efficiency of 93.6%. Mechanism study indicated that cathode powder was transformed into low-valence states of transition metals/metal oxides and released lithium as lithium carbonate due to collapse of oxygen framework via carbothermic reduction. This work provides an applicable and green process for synthesis of alternative carbon carrier from waste halogenated plastic and its application as carbothermic reductant in lithium recovery.
