Abstract

Penyakit antraknosa merupakan penyakit penting pada buah pepaya yang disebabkan oleh Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Pengendalian penyakit tanaman mengunakan fungisida nabati berasal dari bahan-bahan alami, seperti daun mangga, daun pepaya, daun mengkudu, dan rimpang lengkuas dapat menghambat C. gloeosporioides. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan ekstrak daun mangga, daun pepaya, daun mengkudu, daun sirih, dan rimpang lengkuas berdasarkan nilai AUDPC dalam mengendalikan penyakit antraknosa C. gloeosporioides. Percobaan dilakukan dalam dua tahap yaitu uji in vitro dan uji in vivo. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan uji in vitro disusun dalam Racangan Acak Lengkap dengan 6 perlakuan 5 ulangan. dan uji in vivo disusun dalam Racangan Acak Kelompok dengan 6 perlakuan 5 kelompok. Data yang diperoleh diuji lanjut mengunakan uji BNT pada taraf 5%. Konsentrasi yang digunakan masing masing ekstrak yaitu 60%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun sirih memiliki pengaruh yang paling efektif dalam menghambat pertumbuhan C. gloeosporioides dibandingkan dengan perlakuan ekstrak daun mangga, daun mengkudu, daun pepaya, dan rimpang lengkuas

Abstract

Long-lived emission or afterglow, has been detected from gamma-ray bursts at cosmological distances with redshifts, z, ranging from one to three. Optical and near-infrared observations of the afterglow of GRB990123 have determined a redshift of z>1.6 which is the brightest gamma-ray burst. The data may provide evidence of beamed radiation, rather than isotropic radiation.

Abstract

Background Cytomegalovirus (CMV) outcomes with valganciclovir prophylaxis in renal transplant recipients experiencing delayed graft function (DGF) are unclear. Methods This single center, retrospective, cohort study of CMV high-risk (D+/R- with alemtuzumab induction) deceased donor renal transplant recipients receiving valganciclovir prophylaxis assessed CMV outcomes in patients experiencing DGF (n = 72) versus those with immediate graft function (IGF; n = 66). Results Cytomegalovirus viremia by 12 months occurred at similar rates in the IGF and DGF groups (30.3% vs 26.4%, respectively, P = 0.71) with 89.7% (35/39) of all cases classified as CMV disease. The median time to CMV viremia post transplant was day 141 and 138 in the IGF and DGF groups, respectively (P = 0.30). The incidence of biopsy-proven acute rejection (BPAR) was higher in the DGF group (18.1% vs 4.6%, P = 0.02) with BPAR preceding CMV in only 1 patient. There was no significant difference in graft loss (1.5% vs 4.2%, P = 0.62) or patient survival (98.5% vs 95.8%, P = 0.62) at 1 year between the IGF and DGF groups, respectively. Conclusion Valganciclovir prophylaxis in patients experiencing DGF yielded similar CMV outcomes up to 1-year post transplant when compared to use in patients with IGF.

Abstract

Aim Prevalence rates of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) show considerable variation among different countries and regions of the world. The primary aim of this study was to determine the nationwide prevalence and predictors of GDM in Turkey. Methods We conducted prospective nationwide screening among pregnant women. Between August 2016 and November 2017, a total of 2643 pregnant women from 51 centres in 12 different regions were enrolled. A two-step screening method and Carpenter and Coustan criteria were used in the diagnosis of GDM. Clinical and biochemical data were obtained using electronic database software. Results The national prevalence of GDM was found to be 16.2% [95% confidence intervals (CI) 15.0% to 17.4%] without a significant difference between urban and rural regions. Women with GDM were older (mean age: 32 +/- 5 vs. 28 +/- 5 years, P < 0.001) and heavier (mean BMI: 27.2 +/- 5.1 vs. 24.7 +/- 4.7 kg/m(2), P < 0.001) than their counterparts without GDM. The prevalence of GDM tended to increase with age (< 25 years, 6.9%; 26-35 years, 15.6%; and 36-45 years, 32.7%; P < 0.001). Maternal age, maternal BMI, history of previous GDM and family history of diabetes mellitus were independent predictors of developing GDM (P < 0.05 for all). Low-risk women (age < 25 years, BMI < 25 kg/m(2), no family history of diabetes) comprised 10.7% of the total population and the prevalence of GDM in these women was 4.5% (95% CI 2.4% to 7.8%). Conclusion The results of this nationwide study indicate that GDM is very common, affecting one in seven pregnancies in Turkey. Abstract

The high use of radiation for medical activities is the second largest contribution the radiation source that we receive, which in addition to providing benefits, can also cause harm for radiation workers, the community, and the surrounding environment. The purpose of this study was to analyze the application and implementation of radiation safety at the Installation Radiology of UNISMA Hospital in Malang. Descriptive research was conducted with a qualitative approach. It is known that 20% of hazards are in a low category; 30 % of hazards are in the moderate category, 50% are in the high category., El alto uso de radiación para actividades médicas es la segunda contribución más importante de la fuente de radiación que recibimos, que además de proporcionar beneficios, también puede causar daños a los trabajadores de radiación, la comunidad y el entorno circundante. El propósito de este estudio fue analizar la aplicación e implementación de la seguridad radiológica en la Instalación de Radiología del Hospital UNISMA en Malang. La investigación descriptiva se realizó con un enfoque cualitativo. Se sabe que el 20% de los peligros están en una categoría baja; El 30% de los peligros están en la categoría moderada y el 50% están en la categoría alta.

Abstract

INCREASING OF THE USE OF WISE ANTIBIOTIC IN WOMAN'S EMPOWERMENT GROUP IN THE URBAN AREA OF BANYUMAS REGENCY BY PROVIDING INTERVENTION OF KAP (KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE, PRACTICE). Unwise use of antibiotic behavior in the community contributes significantly to the increase in the incidence of antibiotic resistance. Antibiotic resistance has become a major health problem throughout the world that must receive attention both in hospitals and in the community. The purpose of this community service is as an effort to increase the use of wise antibiotics in women's empowerment groups in urban areas in Banyumas Regency by intervening Knowledge, Attitude, Practice (KAP). The target audience was an urban community group in Banyumas regency, namely all members of the Rambutan women's empowerment group located at Jl. Kalijaga, Berkoh, Purwokerto. The activities carried out for KAP intervention were knowledge transfer, and educational video included antibiotics, the wise use of antibiotics, and the dangers of antibiotic resistance. The results of the KAP intervention were measured by questionnaires containing statements from aspects of Knowledge, attitude, practice before and after KAP intervention activities. Each statement in the questionnaire was assessed with a Likert scale and tested for its validity and reliability. Data were analyzed descriptively while testing the results of questionnaires I and II were carried out by paired T-Tests. Data that can be analyzed are 39 respondents. The results of the questionnaire analysis showed an increase in KAP about antibiotic use before and after KAP interventions in women's empowerment groups in urban areas of Banyumas Regency. The article concluded that KAP intervention actions could achieve an increase in the use of wise antibiotics in women's empowerment groups in urban areas in Banyumas Regency.

Abstract

Limitations on more than one aspect, cause multiple disability visual impairment (MDVI) students to experience obstacles in carrying out daily activities related to self-care skills. Students need adaptive behavioral learning to provide them with self-reliance. However, teaching materials for adaptive behavior learning are limited. Teachers need teaching materials that can accommodate the learning process of adaptive behavior for students with MDVI. This study aims to develop mind-mapping-based teaching materials for adaptive behavior. Research and development refer to the steps of the ADDIE model. The results of the study explain that the teaching materials are feasible based on assessments from material experts, media experts, and practitioners so that they can be used in the learning process. The teaching materials developed can be the solution for teachers in the process of teaching adaptive behavior for students with MDVI to be skilled in carrying out daily activities.

Abstract

The increasing CO2 emissions from e-commerce deliveries present a pressing environmental concern. If half of all consumers decided to have their online order delivered to a pick-up point instead of at home, this could vastly reduce CO2 emissions of e-commerce. This study investigated (a) whether nudging could help consumers shift towards pick-up point delivery as a more sustainable choice, and (b) which type of nudging would be most effective. An RCT was conducted with a representative sample of the Dutch population (N = 1213). In an online store setting, participants selected a product and completed the check-out process – selecting between more and less sustainable delivery options. Their selection had real consequences as the gift would be delivered with the selected delivery method. Four different nudging conditions were contrasted: a default nudge, in which the most sustainable option (i.e., delivery to pick-up point) was selected automatically, and three decision-information nudges, in which CO2 emissions for the delivery options was displayed. The decision-information nudges varied in complexity, from high complexity (emissions in grams of CO2 for each delivery option) to medium (percentage of CO2 reduction for the most sustainable option) and low complexity (a green leaf next to the most sustainable option). Relative to control, the default nudge was the most effective at steering participants towards the most sustainable delivery choice, followed by the medium- and low-informational nudging conditions. In addition, instead of steering them towards the most sustainable delivery option, the high-informational nudge appeared to steer participants away from the two most polluting delivery options – thereby potentially saving more greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) than the other conditions. In sum, this study provides substantial evidence for the use of behavioral strategies in quest towards more sustainable online consumption.

Abstract

CuFe2O/hydroxyapatite magnetic composites were synthesized via a hydrothermal technique using Pensi clam shells as a calcium source and betel leaf extract as a capping agent. XRD patterns of the composite displayed appearance peaks of the hexagonal structure of hydroxyapatite and the cubic structure of spinel CuFe2O4. SEM and TEM images show the spherical CuFe2O4 nanoparticles were distributed on the surface of granular hydroxyapatite grains. CuFe2O/hydroxyapatite composites have an absorption edge in the visible region with Eg values within the range of 1.68–1.83 eV. The composites possess a soft ferromagnetic behavior with the range of saturation magnetic (Ms) is 17.7–38.4 emu/g, remnant magnetization (Mr) is 1.3–2.2 emu/g and magnetic coercivity (Hc) is 363–372 Oe. The surface area of the composite estimated by the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method is 13.699 m2/g. The degradation percentage of Direct Red 81 dye reached 99.8% for 2 h irradiation. As an antibacterial agent against S. aureus and E. coli, the composite showed resistance with 11.9 mm of inhibition zone.

Abstract

Context. Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) provides time for thyroidectomy in thyrotoxic patients. Objective. TPE is indicated in cases where antithyroid medications cannot be used due to the side effects or attain no adequate hormonal suppression response at the highest dosage and in cases of rapid onset of clinical symptoms. This study presents the treatment results of patients who underwent TPE and were subsequently operated for thyrotoxicosis. Design. The patients who underwent thyroidectomy and TPE between January 1999 and February 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Subjects and Methods. The files of 27 patients with thyrotoxicosis who performed TPE prior to surgery were analyzed in relation to the demographic and clinical features. Results. We included 15 (55.6%) females, 12 (44.4%) males with a mean age of 44 (23-82) years. The pre-TPE mean free thyroxine (fT4) level was 12 (5-46) pmol/L while free tri-iodothyronine (fT3) level was 34 (17-141) pmol/L. The post-TPE fT4 level was 6 (3-10) pmol/L while the fT3 level was 21 (12-41). There was one case of an allergic reaction during the procedure. In the postoperative follow-up, there was transient hypocalcemia in 8 (29%) patients, permanent hypocalcemia in 1 (3.7%) patient, and surgical site infection in 1 (3.7%) patient. Conclusion. Preoperative TPE is an alternative treatment option for thyrotoxic patients. This is an especially effective treatment for patients with inadequate response or adverse reaction to antithyroid drugs or patients who need urgent surgery for thyroid storm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis kupu-kupu pengunjung bunga Citrullus lanatus pada dua lokasi, Katapiang Ujuang dan Karambia Ampek Batang Anai Padang Pariaman Sumatera Barat. Pengamatan dilakukan dari April sampai dengan Desember 2015. Metode penelitian yaitu metode observasi atau pengoleksian langsung menggunakan jaring serangga. Sampel diidentifikasi di Laboratorium Taksonomi Hewan, Jurusan Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, Universitas Andalas, Padang. Dalam studi ini, didapatkan hasil yaitu 16 spesies kupu-kupu yang terdiri dari 14 genus, dan 5 famili yaitu dari Hesperiidae (2 spesies), Pieridae (6 spesies), Satyridae (2 spesies), Lycanidae (1 spesies), Nymphalidae (5 spesies) .

Abstract

Biologi merupakan salah satu mata pelajaran yang berhubungan denganalam. Dalam mata pelajaran biologi ini, banyak konsep-konsep penting yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa. Namun demikian tidak semua materi dapat dipahami oleh siswa dalam pembelajaran. Untuk membantu siswa dalam memahami materipelajaran dibutuhkan media pembelajaran. Salah satu media pembelajaran tersebut adalah modul yang dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa. Kenyataan yang ditemui di SMA Negeri 1 Bukit Sundi Kabupaten Solok. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul biologi berorientasi Quantum Teaching dilengkapi peta pikiran. Modul pembelajaran ini dikembangkan dengan menggunakan model 4-D yaitu Define (Pendefinisian), design (Perancangan), Pada tahap development (Pengembangan). Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa modul pembelajaran yang dikembangkan memperoleh skor rata- rata 88,40 % dengan kategori sangat valid. Uji praktikalitas modul pembelajaran oleh guru memperoleh skor rata- rata90,73% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Uji praktikalitas modul pembelajaran oleh siswa memperoleh skor rata- rata 83,20 % dengan kategori sangat praktis. Efektifitas modul pembelajaran dapat dilihat dari aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa yang terdiri dari hasil belajar ranah kognitif dan afektif yang menunjukka n ketuntasan minimal KKM. Hasil penelitian inii dapat disimpulkan bahwa telah dihasilkan modul biologi berorientasi Quantum Teaching dilengkapi peta pikiran untuk siswa kelas XI IPA Sekolah Menengah Atas yang valid, praktis, dan efektif

Sampoerna Tbk. From the research variables that affect the intention to leave, namely job satisfaction variables significantly positive effect on organizational commitment, job satisfaction variables were not significant negative effect on intention to leave, organizational commitment variables significantly influence the intention to leave, and organizational commitment variables moderating the effect of job satisfaction on intention to leave.

Abstract

In the afterglows of several gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), rapid temporal decay, which is inconsistent with spherical (isotropic) blast-wave models, is observed. In particular, GRB 980519 had the most rapidly fading of the well-documented GRB afterglows, with t(sup -2.05 +/- 0.04) in optical as well as in X-rays. We show that such temporal decay is more consistent with the evolution of a jet after it slows down and spreads laterally, for which t(sup -P) decay is expected (where p is the index of the electron energy distribution). Such a beaming model would relax the energy requirements on some of the more extreme GRBs by a factor of several hundred. It is likely that a large fraction of the weak- (or no-) afterglow observations are also due to the common occurrence of beaming in GRBs and that their jets have already transitioned. to the spreading phase before the first afterglow observations were made. With this interpretation, a universal value of p approx. = 2.4 is consistent with all data.

Abstract

Daerah di sekitar Danau Kembar yang memiliki ketinggian sekitar 1400 m dpl di Kabupaten Solok memiliki potensi pengembangan markisa, terutama markisa konyal (Passiflora ligularis Juss). Masyarakat melaporkan adanya markisa liar di kawasan hutan yang penampilannya berbeda dengan markisa konyal yang biasa dikenal. Hingga saat ini belum ada informasi mengenai karakter markisa liar ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai variabilitas genetik markisa liar di Kabupaten Solok dan potensi genetiknya. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari hingga Mei 2018, di Desa Kampung Batu, Kecamatan Danau Kembar, Kabupaten Solok. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pengambilan sampel secara sengaja. Pengumpulan data lokasi yang dijadikan tempat pengambilan sampel ditentukan melalui eksplorasi. Dari hasil eksplorasi berhasil diperoleh tiga aksesi markisa yang secara kualitatif menunjukkan persamaan karakter. Variasi ditemui pada karakter kuantitatif. Hasil analisis menunjukkan variabilitas yang sempit hingga luas pada beberapa karakter kuantitatif pada ketiga aksesi markisa liar, mengindikasikan besarnya pengaruh lingkungan. Variabilitas fenotipik yang sempit ini berkaitan dengan sistem pembungaan markisa, yang diduga melakukan penyerbukan sendiri.

Abstract

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of atherosclerosis in female systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients aged below 40 years old and the factors correlated with carotid intima-media (CIM) thickening. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 80 female SLE respondents aged below 40 years old who were either in- or outpatient of Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, Jakarta. History of disease and treatment was taken, and laboratory test and ultrasonography of the carotid artery to evaluate CIM thickness were performed. Results: The prevalence of atherosclerosis was 40%, comprising of CIM thickening and/or presence of atherosclerotic plaque in the carotid artery. The median values of CIM thickness in the right common carotid artery, right carotid bulb, left common carotid artery, and left carotid bulb were 0.040 cm, 0.04535 cm, 0.0430 cm, and 0.047 cm, respectively. There was also a positive correlation reported of CIM thickness with increased age, the duration of SLE disease, and the duration of steroid treatment. Conclusions: We found a positive correlation of CIM thickness with age, the duration of SLE disease, and the duration of steroid treatment in female SLE patients aged below 40 years.

Porphyromonas gingivalis is one of the bacteria, which cause the tooth disease. Euphorbia hirta (hairy spurge) contains chemical compounds of tannins, phenols, saponins, and flavonoids and is also an antibacterial against Porphyromonas gingivalis bacteria. The objective of this research is to formulate the mouthwashes preparation of hairy spurge plant with concentration of 0.5%, 1% and 2%, and to test the antibacterial activity. The results showed that the extract of hairy spurge plant can be formulated into mouthwash and has antibacterial activity with the best inhibition zone at 2% concentration with the mean diameter of the inhibition zone was 35.5 mm. Euphorbia hirta (Patikan kebo) mengandung senyawa-senyawa kimia tanin, fenol,saponin, flavonoid dan juga merupakan antibakteri terhadap bakteri Porphyromonas gingivalis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasi sediaan obat kumur tanaman patikan kebo kosentrasi 0,5%, 1% dan 2 %, serta melakukan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ekstrak tanaman patikan kebo dapat diformulasikan menjadi obat kumur dan memiliki aktivitas antibakteri dengan zona hambat yang paling baik pada kosentrasi 2% dengan diameter rata-rata zona hambat yaitu 35,5 mm.
