Based on the tensor network state representation, we develop a nonlinear dynamic theory coined as network contractor dynamics (NCD) to explore the thermodynamic properties of two-dimensional quantum lattice models. By invoking the rank-$1$ decomposition in the multi-linear algebra, the NCD scheme makes the contraction of the tensor network of the partition function be realized through a contraction of a local tensor cluster with vectors on its boundary. An imaginary-time-sweep algorithm for implementation of the NCD method is proposed for practical numerical simulations. We benchmark the NCD scheme on the square Ising model, which shows a great accuracy. Besides, the results on the spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on honeycomb lattice are disclosed in good agreement with the quantum Monte Carlo calculations. The quasi-entanglement entropy $S$, Lyapunov exponent $I^{lya}$ and loop character $I^{loop}$ are introduced within the dynamic scheme, which are found to display the ``nonlocality" near the critical point, and can be applied to determine the thermodynamic phase transitions of both classical and quantum systems., Comment: 8 pages, 9 figures

The unusual reentrant phenomenon is observed in the anisotropic 3-state Potts model on a gen- eralized Kagome lattice. By employing the linearized tensor renormalization group method, we find that the reentrance can appear in the region not only under a partial ordered phase as commonly known but also a phase without a local order parameter, which is uncovered to fall into the uni- versality of the Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT) type. The region of the reentrance depends strongly on the ratios of the next nearest couplings {\alpha} = J2 /|J1 | and {\beta} = J3 /|J1 |. The phase diagrams in the plane of temperature versus {\beta} for different {\alpha} are obtained. Through massive calculations, it is also revealed that the quasi-entanglement entropy can be used to accurately detect the KT transition temperature.

Motivated by the crystal structures of [(CuCl2tachH)3Cl]Cl2 and Ca3Co2O6, we develop a low-energy effective theory using the bosonization technique for a spin-1/2 frustrated three-leg spin tube with trigonal prism units in two limit cases. The features obtained with the effective theory are numerically elucidated by the density matrix renormalization group method. Three different quantum phases in the ground state of the system, say, one gapped dimerized phase and two distinct gapless phases, are identified, where the two gapless phases are found to have the conformal central charge c=1 and 3/2, respectively. Spin gaps, spin and dimer correlation functions, and the entanglement entropy are obtained. In particular, it is disclosed that the critical phase with c=3/2 is the consequence of spin frustrations, which might belong to the SU(2)k=2 Wess-Zumino-Witten-Novikov universality class, and is induced by the twist term in the bosonized Hamiltonian density., Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures

By means of the first-principles calculations combined with the tight-binding approximation, the strain-induced semiconductor-semimetal transition in graphdiyne is discovered. It is shown that the band gap of graphdiyne increases from 0.47 eV to 1.39 eV with increasing the biaxial tensile strain, while the band gap decreases from 0.47 eV to nearly zero with increasing the uniaxial tensile strain, and Dirac cone-like electronic structures are observed. The uniaxial strain-induced changes of the electronic structures of graphdiyne come from the breaking of geometrical symmetry that lifts the degeneracy of energy bands. We study a versatile structurally favorable periodic $sp^2$-bonded carbon atomic planar sheet with $C_{4v}$ symmetry by means of the first-principles calculations. This carbon allotrope is composed of carbon octagons and squares with two bond lengths and is thus dubbed as octagraphene. It is a semimetal with the Fermi surface consisting of one hole and one electron pocket, whose low-energy physics can be well described by a tight-binding model of $\pi$-electrons. Its Young's modulus, breaking strength and Poisson's ratio are obtained to be 306 $N/m$, 34.4 $N/m$ and 0.13, respectively, which are close to those of graphene. The novel sawtooth and armchair carbon nanotubes as well as unconventional fullerenes can also be constructed from octagraphene. It is found that the Ti-absorbed octagraphene can be allowed for hydrogen storage with capacity around 7.76 wt%.

A novel algorithm based on the optimized decimation of tensor networks with super-orthogonalization (ODTNS) that can be applied to simulate efficiently and accurately not only the thermodynamic but also the ground state properties of two-dimensional (2D) quantum lattice models is proposed. By transforming the 2D quantum model into a three-dimensional (3D) closed tensor network (TN) comprised of the tensor product density operator and a 3D brick-wall TN, the free energy of the system can be calculated with the imaginary time evolution, in which the network Tucker decomposition is suggested for the first time to obtain the optimal lower-dimensional approximation on the bond space by transforming the TN into a super-orthogonal form. The efficiency and accuracy of this algorithm are testified, which are fairly comparable with the quantum Monte Carlo calculations. Besides, the present ODTNS scheme can also be applicable to the 2D frustrated quantum spin models with nice efficiency.

The ground state phase diagrams and thermodynamic properties of a spin-1 bond-alternating Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain with a single-ion anisotropy in longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields are investigated jointly by means of the infinite time evolving block decimation, the linearized tensor renormalization group and the density matrix renormalization group methods. It is found that in the magnetic field-bond alternating ratio plane six phases such as singlet dimer, Haldane, two Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid, 1/2 magnetization plateau and spin polarized phases are identified in a longitudinal field, while in a transverse field there are fives phases including singlet dimer, Haldane, Z$_2$ symmetry breaking, quasi-1/2 magnetization plateau and quasi spin polarized phases. A reentrant behavior of the staggered magnetization in a transverse field is observed. The quantum critical behaviors in longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields are disclosed to fall into different universality classes with corresponding conformal field central charge $c=1$ and 1/2, respectively. The experimental data of the compound NTENP under both longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields are nicely fitted, and the Luttinger liquid behavior of low temperature specific heat experimentally observed is also confirmed., Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures

By means of first-principles calculations within the density functional theory, we study the structural and optical properties of codoped ZnO nanowires and compare them with those of the bulk and film. It is disclosed that the low negatively charged ground states of nitrogen related defects play a key role in the optical absorption spectrum tail that narrows the band-gap and enhances the photoelectrochemical response significantly. A strategy of uncompensated N, P and Ga codoping in ZnO nanowires is proposed to produce a red-shift of the optical absorption spectra further than the exclusive N doping and to get a proper formation energy with a high defect concentration and a suppressed recombination rate. In this way, the absorption of the visible light can be improved and the photocurrent can be raised. These observations are consistent with the existing experiments, which will be helpful to improve the photoelectrochemical responses for the wide-band-gap semiconductors especially in water splitting applications., Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures

The thermoelectric properties of cubic zincblend silicon carbide nanowires (SiCNWs) with nitrogen impurities and vacancies along [111] direction are theoretically studied by means of atomistic simulations. It is found that the thermoelectric figure of merit ZT of SiCNWs can be significantly enhanced by doping N impurities together with making Si vacancies. Aiming at obtaining a large ZT, we study possible energetically stable configurations, and disclose that, when N dopants locate at the center, a small number of Si vacancies at corners are most favored for n-type nanowires, while a large number of Si vacancies spreading into the flat edge sites are most favored for p-type nanowires. For the SiCNW with a diameter of 1.1 nm and a length of 4.6 nm, the ZT value for the n-type is shown capable of reaching 1.78 at 900K. The matrix product state (MPS) is utilized to study the ground state properties and quantum phase transitions (QPTs) of the one-dimensional quantum compass model (QCM). The MPS wavefunctions are argued to be very efficient descriptions of QCM ground states, and are numerically determined by imaginary time projections. The ground state energy, correlations, quantum entanglement and its spectrum, local and nonlocal order parameters, etc., are calculated and studied in details. It is revealed that the bipartite and block entanglement entropies, as well as the nearest neighbor correlation functions can be used to detect the second-order QPTs, but not the first-order ones, while fidelity detections can recognize both. The entanglement spectrum is extracted from the MPS wavefunction, and found to be doubly degenerate in disordered phases of QCM, where non-local string order parameters exist. Moreover, with linearized tensor renormalization group method, the specific heat curves are evaluated and their low temperature behaviors are investigated., Comment: 12 pages, 19 figures

We propose a novel algorithm with a modified Tucker decomposition for tensor network that allows for efficiently and precisely calculating the ground state and thermodynamic properties of two-dimensional (2D) quantum spin lattice systems, and is coined as the fast linearized tensor renormalization group (fLTRG). Its amazing efficiency and precision are examined by studying the spin-1/2 anisotropic Heisenberg antiferromagnet on a honeycomb lattice, and the results are found to be fairly in agreement with the quantum Monte Carlo calculations. It is also successfully applied to tackle a quasi-2D spin-1/2 frustrated bilayer honeycomb Heisenberg model, where a quantum phase transition from an ordered antiferromagnetic state to a gapless quantum spin liquid phase is found. The thermodynamic behaviors of this frustrated spin system are also explored. The present fLTRG algorithm could be readily extended to other quantum lattice systems.

We present a systematic study of the anisotropic spin-1/2 Heisenberg model in staggered magnetic fields in two dimensions (2D). To mimic real materials, we consider a system of coupled, antiferromagnetic chains, whose interchain interaction can be either ferro- or antiferromagnetic. When the staggered field is commensurate with the magnetic interactions, an energy gap opens immediately and follows a power law as a function of the applied field, similar to the situation in 1D. When the field competes with the interactions, a quantum phase transition (QPT) occurs from a gapless, magnetically ordered phase at low fields to a gapped, disordered regime. We use a continuous-time Monte Carlo method to compute the staggered moment of the ordered phases and the spin gap of the disordered phases. We deduce the phase diagrams as functions of the anisotropy ratio and the applied field, and calculate the scaling behavior of the models in both quantities. We show that in the competitive case, the staggered field acts to maintain a regime of quasi-1D behavior around the QPT, and we discuss as a consequence the nature of the crossover from 1D to 2D physics.

A structurally stable crystalline carbon allotrope is predicted by means of the first-principles calculations. This allotrope can be derived by substituting each atom in diamond with a carbon tetrahedron, and possesses the same space group Fd^1 3m as diamond, which is thus coined as T- carbon. The calculations on geometrical, vibrational and electronic properties reveal that T-carbon, with a considerable structural stability and a much lower density 1.50 g/cm3, is a semiconductor with a direct band gap about 3.0 eV, and has a Vickers hardness 61.1 GPa lower than diamond but comparable with cubic boron nitride. Such a form of carbon, once obtained, would have wide applications in photocatalysis, adsoption, hydrogen storage and aerospace materials.

We present the global phase diagram of the extended boson Hubbard model on a simple cubic lattice by quantum Monte Carlo simulation with worm update algorithm. Four kinds of phases are supported by this model, including superfluid, supersolid, Mott, and charge density wave (CDW) states, which are identified in the phase diagram of chemical potential $\mu$ versus nearest neighbor interaction V . By changing the chemical potential, a continuous transition is found from the Mott phase to a superfluid phase without breaking the translational symmetry. For an insulating CDW state, adding particles to it gives rise to a continuous transition to a supersolid phase, while removing particles usually leads to a first-order one to either supersolid or superfluid phase. By tuning the nearest neighbor interaction, one can realize the transition between two insulating phases, Mott and CDW with the same particle density, which turns out to be of the first-order. We also demonstrate that a supersolid phase with average particle density less than 1/2 can exist in a small region of $\mu$ - V phase diagram.

A linearized tensor renormalization group (LTRG) algorithm is proposed to calculate the thermodynamic properties of one-dimensional quantum lattice models, that is incorporated with the infinite time-evolving block decimation technique, and allows for treating directly the two-dimensional transfer-matrix tensor network. To illustrate its feasibility, the thermodynamic quantities of the quantum XY spin chain are calculated accurately by the LTRG, and the precision is shown to be comparable with (even better than) the transfer matrix renormalization group (TMRG) method. Unlike the TMRG scheme that can only deal with the infinite chains, the present LTRG algorithm could treat both finite and infinite systems, and may be readily extended to boson and fermion quantum lattice models., Comment: published version

The two-dimensional Ising model on a distorted Kagom\'{e} lattice is studied by means of exact solutions and the tensor renormalisation group (TRG) method. The zero-field phase diagrams are obtained, where three phases such as ferromagnetic, ferrimagnetic and paramagnetic phases, along with the second-order phase transitions, have been identified. The TRG results are quite accurate and reliable in comparison to the exact solutions. In a magnetic field, the magnetization ($m$), susceptibility and specific heat are studied by the TRG algorithm, where the $m=1/3$ plateaux are observed in the magnetization curves for some couplings. The experimental data of susceptibility for the complex Co(N$_3$)$_2$(bpg)$\cdot$ DMF$_{4/3}$ are fitted with the TRG results, giving the couplings of the complex $J=22K$ and $J'=33K$.

The magnetic and thermodynamic properties of a new ferrimagnetic decorated spin-(1/2,1) Heisenberg chain with spin-1 pendant spins are investigated for three cases: (A) J1,J2>0; (B) J1>0, J2<0; and (C) J1<0, J2>0, where J1 and J2 are the exchange couplings between spins in the chain and along the rung, respectively. The low-lying and magnetic properties are explored jointly by the real-space renormalization group, spin wave, and density-matrix renormalization group methods, while the transfer-matrix renormalization group method is invoked to study the thermodynamics. It is found that the magnon spectra consist of a gapless and two gapped branches. Two branches in case (C) have intersections. The coupling dependence of low-energy gaps are analyzed. In a magnetic field, an m=3/2 (m is the magnetization per unit cell) plateau is observed for case (A), while two plateaux at m=1/2 and 3/2 are observed for cases (B) and (C). Between the two plateaux in cases (B) and (C), the sublattice magnetizations for the spins coupled by ferromagnetic interactions have novel decreasing regions with increasing the magnetic field. At finite temperature, the zero-field susceptibility temperature product chi*T and specific heat exhibit distinct exotic features with varying the couplings and temperature for different cases. chi*T is found to converge as T approaches zero, which is different from the divergent behavior in the spin-(1/2,1) mixed-spin chain without pendants. The spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the distorted honeycomb (DHC) lattice is studied by means of the tensor renormalization group method. It is unveiled that the system has a quantum phase transition of second-order between the gapped quantum dimer phase and a collinear Neel phase at the critical point of coupling ratio \alpha_{c} = 0.54, where the quantum critical exponents \nu = 0.69(2) and \gamma = 1.363(8) are obtained. The quantum criticality is found to fall into the O(3) universality class. A ground-state phase diagram in the field-coupling ratio plane is proposed, where the phases such as the dimer, semi-classical Neel, and polarized phases are identified. The spin transfer effect in ferromagnet-quantum dot (insulator)-ferromagnet Aharonov-Bohm (AB) ring system with Rashba spin-orbit (SO) interactions is investigated by means of Keldysh nonequilibrium Green function method. It is found that both the magnitude and direction of the spin transfer torque (STT) acting on the right ferromagnet electrode can be effectively controlled by changing the magnetic flux threading the AB ring or the gate voltage on the quantum dot. The STT can be greatly augmented by matching a proper magnetic flux and an SO interaction at a cost of low electrical current. The STT, electrical current, and spin current are uncovered to oscillate with the magnetic flux. The magnetic properties of a trigonal prism unit of the spin-2 frustrated compound Ca3Co2O6 are studied by means of the density-matrix renormalization group method. A magnetization plateau at $ms/3$ ($ms$ is the saturation magnetization) with ferrimagnetic structure is observed. By fitting the experimental data of magnetic curve, an estimation of the couplings gives J1=-26.84K, J_{2}=0.39K, and J_{3}=0.52K. The local magnetic moments are unveiled to exhibit an incommensurate sinusoidally modulation along the three chains of the trigonal prism, which gives a strong theoretical support to the experimentally observed incommensurate partially disordered antiferromagnetic state for Ca3Co2O6. By means of first-principles density functional theory calculations, we find that hydrogen-passivated ultrathin silicon nanowires (SiNWs) along [100] direction with symmetrical multiple surface dangling bonds (SDBs) and boron doping can have a half-metallic ground state with 100% spin polarization, where the half-metallicity is shown quite robust against external electric fields. Under the circumstances with various SDBs, the H-passivated SiNWs can also be ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic semiconductors. The present study not only offers a possible route to engineer half-metallic SiNWs without containing magnetic atoms but also sheds light on manipulating spin-dependent properties of nanowires through surface passivation., Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures

The thermodynamic properties of a spin S=1/2 tetrameric Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain with alternating interactions AF1-AF2-AF1-F (AF and F denote the antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic couplings, respectively) are studied by means of the transfer-matrix renormalization group method and Jordan-Wigner transformation. It is found that in the absence of magnetic field, the thermodynamic behaviors are closely related to the gapped low-lying excitations, and a novel structure with three peaks in the temperature dependence of specific heat is unveiled. In a magnetic field, a phase diagram in the temperature-field plane for the couplings satisfying JAF1=JAF2=JF is obtained, in which various phases are identified. The temperature dependence of thermodynamic quantities including the magnetization, susceptibility and specific heat are studied to characterize the corresponding phases. It is disclosed that the magnetization has a crossover behavior at low temperature in the Luttinger liquid phase, which is shown falling into the same class as that in the S=1 Haldane chain. In the plateau regime, the thermodynamic behaviors alter at a certain field, which results from the crossing of two excitation spectra. By means of the fermion mapping, it is uncovered that the system has four spectra from fermion and hole excitations that are responsible for the observed thermodynamic behaviors., Comment: 10 pages, 10 figures, accepted by Phys. The thermal pairwise entanglement (TE) of the S=1/2 XY chain in a transverse magnetic field is exactly resolved by means of the Jordan-Wigner transformation. It is found that the TE vanishes at a common temperature Tc~0.4843J, which is irrelevant to the field. A thermal quantity is proposed to witness the entangled state. Furthermore, the TE of the S=1/2 antiferromagnetic-ferromagnetic (AF-F) Heisenberg chain is studied by the transfer-matrix renormalization group method.The TEs of the spins coupled by AF and F interactions are found to behave distinctively. The vanishing temperature of the field-induced TE of the spins coupled by F interactions is observed to change with the magnetic field. The magnetic behaviors of a spin-1/2 alternating Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain in a staggered transverse magnetic field is studied by means of the density-matrix renormalization group method and Jordan-Wigner transformation. Quantum phase transitions of different types are observed in the S=1 Neel and XY-like gapless phases, which result from the competitions between the staggered transverse field and magnetic orders induced by anisotropy and alternating interactions. A set of general constructing schemes is unveiled to predict a large family of stable boron monoelemental, hollow fullerenes with magic numbers 32+8k (k>=0). The remarkable stabilities of these new boron fullerenes are then studied by intense ab initio calculations. An electron counting rule as well as an isolated hollow rule are proposed to readily show the high stability and the electronic bonding property, which are also revealed applicable to a number of newly predicted boron sheets and nanotubes., Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures

By means of ab initio calculations within the density functional theory, we have found that B80 fullerenes can condense to form stable face-centered-cubic fcc solids. It is shown that when forming a crystal, B80 cages are geometrically distorted, the Ih symmetry is lowered to Th, and four boron-boron chemical bonds are formed between every two nearest neighbor B80 cages. The cohesive energy of B80 fcc solid is 0.23 eV/atom with respect to the isolated B80 fullerene. The calculated electronic structure reveals that the fcc B80 solid is a metal. The predicted solid phase would constitute a form of pure boron and might have diverse implications. In addition, a simple electron counting rule is proposed, which could explain the stability of B80 fullerene and the recently predicted stable boron sheet., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

The ground-state properties of a spin $S=1/2$ tetrameric Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain with alternating couplings AF$_{1}$-AF$_{2}$-AF$_{1}$% -F (AF and F denote antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic couplings, respectively) are studied by means of the density matrix renormalization group method. Two plateaux of magnetization $m$ are found at $m=0$ and 1/4% . It is shown that in such a spin-1/2 AF system, there is a gap from the singlet ground state to the triplet excited states in the absence of a magnetic field. The spin-spin correlation function decays exponentially, and the gapped states have a nonvanishing string order, which measures a hidden symmetry in the system. By a dual transformation, the string order is transformed into a ferromagnetic order and the hidden symmetry is unveiled to be a $Z_{2}\times Z_{2}$ discrete symmetry, which is fully broken in the gapped states. This half-integer spin Heisenberg AF chain is in a Haldane-like phase, suggesting that the present findings extend the substance of Haldane's scenario. By means of the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method, the static spin structure factors and the magnetization plateaus of the trimerized Heisenberg ferromagnet-ferromagnet-antiferromagnet and antiferromagnet-antiferromagnet-ferromagnet spin chains in the presence of a magnetic field are elaborately studied. It is found that in the plateau states, the static structure factor with three peaks does not vary with the external magnetic field as well as the exchange couplings; the spin correlation function behaves as a perfect sequence and has a simple relation with the magnetization per site. An approximate wave function for the plateau states is proposed, and a picture based on the valence-bond-solid states is presented in order to understand the origin and the total number of the magnetization plateaus, which are shown to be in agreement with the DMRG results., Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures

The possibility of quantum oscillations of the tunnel conductance and magnetoresistance induced by spin-wave excitations in a ferromagnet-ferromagnet-ferromagnet double barrier tunnel junction, when the magnetizations of the two side ferromagnets are aligned antiparallel to that of the middle ferromagnet, is investigated in a self-consistent manner by means of Keldysh nonequilibrium Green function method. It has been found that owing to the s-d exchange interactions between conduction electrons and the spin density induced by spin accumulation in the middle ferromagnet, the differential conductance and the TMR indeed oscillate with the increase of bias voltage, being consistent with the phenomenon that is observed recently in experiments. The effects of magnon modes, the energy levels of electrons as well as the molecular field in the central ferromagnet on the oscillatory transport property of the system are also discussed., Comment: 19 pages, 6 figures

A systematic first-principles study within density functional theory on the geometrical structures and electronic properties of unconventional fullerene C64 and its derivatives C64X4 (X = H; F;Cl;Br) has been performed. By searching through all 3465 isomers of C64, the ground state of C64 is found to be spherical shape with D2 symmetry, which differs from the parent cage of the recently synthesized C64H4 that is pear-shaped with C3v symmetry. We found that the addition of the halogen atoms like F;Cl;Br to the pentagon-pentagon fusion vertex of C64 cage could enhance the stability, forming the unconventional fullerenes C64X4. The Mulliken charge populations, LUMO-HOMO gap energies and density of states are calculated, showing that different halogen atoms added to C64 will cause remarkably different charge populations of the C64X4 molecule; the chemical deriving could enlarge the energy gaps and affect the electronic structures distinctly. It is unveiled that C64F4 is even more stable than C64H4, as the C-X bond energy of the former is higher than that of the latter. The computed spectra of C64H4 molecules agree well with the experimental data; the IR, Raman, NMR spectra of C64X4 (X = F;Cl;Br) are also calculated to stimulate further experimental investigations. Finally, it is uncovered by total energy calculations that C64X4 could form a stable hexagonal monolayer., Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures

Spin-polarized transport through a band-gap-matched ZnSe/Zn_{1-x}Mn_{x} Se/ZnSe/Zn_{1-x}Mn_{x}Se/ZnSe multilayer structure is investigated. The resonant transport is shown to occur at different energies for different spins owing to the split of spin subbands in the paramagnetic layers. It is found that the polarization of current density can be reversed in a certain range of magnetic field, with the peak of polarization moving towards a stronger magnetic field for increasing the width of central ZnSe layer while shifting towards an opposite direction for increasing the width of paramagnetic layer. The reversal is limited in a small-size system. A strong suppression of the spin up component of the current density is present at high magnetic field. It is expected that such a reversal of the polarization could act as a possible mechanism for a selective spin filter device.

The magnetic and thermodynamic properties of spin-1/2 Heisenberg diamond chains are investigated in three different cases: (a) J1, J2, J3>0 (frustrated); (b) J1, J3<0, J2>0 (frustrated); and (c) J1, J2>0, J3<0 (non-frustrated). The density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) technique is invoked to study the properties of the system in the ground state, while the transfer matrix renormalization group (TMRG) technique is applied to explore the thermodynamic properties. The local magnetic moments, spin correlation functions, and static structure factors are discussed in the ground state for the three cases. It is shown that the static structure factor S(q) shows peaks at wavevectors $q=a\pi /3$ (a=0,1,2,3,4,5) for different couplings in a zero magnetic field, which, however in the magnetic fields where the magnetization plateau with m=1/6 pertains, exhibits the peaks only at q=0, $2\pi /3$ and $4\pi /3$, which are found to be couplings-independent. The DMRG results of the zero-field static structure factor can be nicely fitted by a linear superposition of six modes, where two fitting equations are proposed. It is observed that the six modes are closely related to the low-lying excitations of the system. At finite temperatures, the double-peak structures of the susceptibility and specific heat against temperature are obtained, where the peak positions and heights are found to depend on the competition of the couplings. It is also uncovered that the XXZ anisotropy of F and AF couplings leads the system of case (c) to display quite different behaviors. In addition, the experimental data of the susceptibility, specific heat and magnetization for the compound Cu$_{3}$(CO$_{3}$)$_{2}$(OH)$_{2}$ are fairly compared with our TMRG results., Comment: 18 pages, 20 figures, to be published in Phys. Fulde-Ferrel-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) inhomogeneous superconducting (SC) state, first- and second-order phase transitions, and quantum criticality induced by spin accumulation in a ferromagnet-$d_{x^{2}-y^{2}}$-wave superconductor-ferromagnet tunnel junction are theoretically predicted. A complex phase diagram in the temperature-bias voltage plane is determined. It is found that the phase transitions from the homogeneous BCS state to the inhomogeneous FFLO state, and from the FFLO state with the momentum $\mathbf{% q}$'s azimuthal angle $\theta_{\mathbf{q}}=0$ to that with $\theta_{% \mathbf{q}}=\pi /4$, are of the first-order; while the transitions from all SC states to the normal state at critical voltages are of the second-order. Based on Keldysh's nonequilibrium Green function method, the spin-dependent transport properties in a ferromagnet-quantum dot (QD)-ferromagnet coupled system are investigated. It is shown the spin current shows quite different characteristics from its electrical counterpart, and by changing the relative orientation of both magnetizations, it can change its magnitude even sign. The current-induced spin transfer torque (CISTT) is uncovered to be greatly enhanced when the bias voltage meets with the discrete levels of the QD at resonant positions.
