- Abstract
We report the first evidence for isospin violation in B→K^{*}γ and the first measurement of the difference of CP asymmetries between B^{+}→K^{*+}γ and B^{0}→K^{*0}γ. This analysis is based on the data sample containing 772×10^{6}BB[over ¯] pairs that was collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e^{+}e^{-} collider. We find evidence for the isospin violation with a significance of 3.1σ, Δ_{0+}=[+6.2±1.5(stat)±0.6(syst)±1.2(f_{+-}/f_{00})]%, where the third uncertainty is due to the uncertainty on the fraction of B^{+}B^{-} to B^{0}B[over ¯]^{0} production in ϒ(4S) decays. The measured value is consistent with predictions of the standard model. The result for the difference of CP asymmetries is ΔA_{CP}=[+2.4±2.8(stat)±0.5(syst)]%, consistent with zero. The measured branching fractions and CP asymmetries for charged and neutral B meson decays are the most precise to date. We also calculate the ratio of branching fractions of B^{0}→K^{*0}γ to B_{s}^{0}→ϕγ.

We report the first measurement of the tau lepton polarization P-tau(D*) in the decay (B) over bar -> D* tau(-) (v) over bar (tau) as well as a newmeasurement of the ratio of the branching fractions R(D*) = B((B) over bar -> D* tau(-) (v) over bar (tau)) / B((B) over bar -> D* l(-) (v) over bar (l)), where l(-) denotes an electron or a muon, and the tau is reconstructed in the modes tau(-) -> pi(-) v(tau) and tau(-) -> rho(-) v(tau). We use the full data sample of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs recorded with the Belle detector at the (KEKB) over bar electron-positron collider. Our results, P-tau(D*) = -0.38 +/- 0.51 (stat)(-0.16)(+0.21) (syst) and R(D*) = 0.270 +/- 0.035 (stat)(- 0.025)(+0.028) (syst), are consistent with the theoretical predictions of the standard model.

We report the first measurement of the T-odd moments in the decay D-0 -> K-S(0) pi + pi(-)pi(0) from a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 966 fb(-1) collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. From these moments we determine the CP-violation-sensitive asymmetry a(CP)(T-odd) = [-0.28 +/- 1.38 (stat.)(-0.76)(+0.23) (syst.)] x 10(-3) , which is consistent with no CP violation. In addition, we perform a(CP)(T-odd) measurements in different regions of the D-0 -> K-S(0) pi + pi(-)pi(0) phase space;these are also consistent with no CP violation.

We present a measurement of angular observables and a test of lepton flavor universality in the B -> K(+)l(+)l(-) decay, where l is either e or mu. The analysis is performed on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 711 fb(-1) containing 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs, collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider KEKB. The result is consistent with standard model (SM) expectations, where the largest discrepancy from a SM prediction is observed in the muon modes with a local significance of 2.6 sigma.

We report the first observation of the radiative charm decay D-0 -> rho(0)gamma and the first search for CP violation in decays D-0 -> rho(0)gamma, phi gamma, and (K) over bar (*0)(892)gamma, using a data sample of 943 fb(-1) collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The branching fraction is measured to be B(D-0 -> rho(0)gamma) = (1.77 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.07) x 10(-5), where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The obtained CP asymmetries A(CP)(D-0 ->rho(0)gamma) = +0.056 +/- 0.152 +/- 0.006, A(CP)(D-0 -> phi gamma) = -0.094 +/- 0.066 +/- 0.001, and A(CP)(D-0 -> (K) over bar (*0) gamma = -0.003 +/- 0.020 +/- 0.000 are consistent with no CP violation. We also present an improved measurement of the branching fractions B(D-0 -> phi gamma) = (2.76 +/- 0.19 +/- 0.10) x 10(-5) and B(D-0 -> (K) over bar (*0) gamma = (4.66 +/- 0.21 +/- 0.21) x 10(-4).

We report the first search for the J(PC) = 0(--) glueball in Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) decays with data samples of (102 +/- 2) x 10(6) and (158 +/- 4) x 10(6) events, respectively, collected with the Belle detector. No significant signals are observed in any of the proposed production modes, and the 90% credibility level upper limits on their branching fractions in Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) decays are obtained. The inclusive branching fractions of the Upsilon(1S) and Upsilon(2S) decays into final states with chi(c1) are measured to be B(Upsilon(1S) -> chi(c1) + anything) = (1.90 +/- 0.43(stat) +/- 0.14(syst) x 10(-4) with an improved precision over prior measurements and B Upsilon(2S) -> chi(c1) + anything) = (2.24 +/- 0.44(stat) +/- 0.20(syst) x 10(-4) for the first time.

- Abstract
We report the first measurement of the τ lepton polarization P_{τ}(D^{*}) in the decay B[over ¯]→D^{*}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ} as well as a new measurement of the ratio of the branching fractions R(D^{*})=B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}τ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{τ})/B(B[over ¯]→D^{*}ℓ^{-}ν[over ¯]_{ℓ}), where ℓ^{-} denotes an electron or a muon, and the τ is reconstructed in the modes τ^{-}→π^{-}ν_{τ} and τ^{-}→ρ^{-}ν_{τ}. We use the full data sample of 772×10^{6} BB[over ¯] pairs recorded with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider. Our results, P_{τ}(D^{*})=-0.38±0.51(stat)_{-0.16}^{+0.21}(syst) and R(D^{*})=0.270±0.035(stat)_{-0.025}^{+0.028}(syst), are consistent with the theoretical predictions of the standard model.

For the Belle II spectrometer we are preparing a proximity focusing RICH with aerogel as the radiator. It will be positioned in the forward direction of the spectrometer in the small space between the drift chamber and the electromagnetic calorimeter inside a strong magnetic field of 1.5 T. The Hybrid Avalanche Photo Diode used as a photo sensor, is able to detect single photons with a high efficiency, can operate in the magnetic field and is resistant to the expected neutron and gamma fluxes in the detector. By detecting more than 11 photons per incident 4 GeV/ c pion, with 15 mrad single photon Cherenkov angle resolution, the designed aerogel RICH should enable an efficient separation of kaons from pions in the wide range of particle momenta from 0.5 GeV/ c up to 4 GeV/ c .

We search for lepton-flavor and lepton-number-violating τ decays into a lepton (l= electron or muon) and two charged mesons ( h , h ′ = π ± or K ± ) using 854 fb − 1 of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e − collider. We obtain 90% confidence level upper limits on the τ → l h h ′ branching fractions in the range ( 2.0 – 8.4 ) × 10 − 8 . These results improve upon our previously published upper limits by factors of about 1.8 on average.

- Abstract
We report the first observation of the radiative charm decay D^{0}→ρ^{0}γ and the first search for CP violation in decays D^{0}→ρ^{0}γ, ϕγ, and K[over ¯]^{*0}(892)γ, using a data sample of 943 fb^{-1} collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. The branching fraction is measured to be B(D^{0}→ρ^{0}γ)=(1.77±0.30±0.07)×10^{-5}, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The obtained CP asymmetries A_{CP}(D^{0}→ρ^{0}γ)=+0.056±0.152±0.006, A_{CP}(D^{0}→ϕγ)=-0.094±0.066±0.001, and A_{CP}(D^{0}→K[over ¯]^{*0}γ)=-0.003±0.020±0.000 are consistent with no CP violation. We also present an improved measurement of the branching fractions B(D^{0}→ϕγ)=(2.76±0.19±0.10)×10^{-5} and B(D^{0}→K[over ¯]^{*0}γ)=(4.66±0.21±0.21)×10^{-4}.

We report a measurement of the ratio R(D*) = B((B) over bar (0) -> D*(+)tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau))/B((B) over bar (0) -> D*(+)l(-)(nu) over bar (l))where l denotes an electron or a muon. The results are based on a data sample containing 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs recorded at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. We select a sample of B-0(B) over bar (0) pairs by reconstructing both B mesons in semileptonic decays to D*(-/+)l(+/-). We measure R(D*) = 0.302 +/- 0.030(stat) +/- 0.011(syst), which is within 1.6 sigma of the Standard Model theoretical expectation, where the standard deviation sigma includes systematic uncertainties. We use this measurement to constrain several scenarios of new physics in a model-independent approach.

Although certain drugs of abuse are known to disrupt brain glucose metabolism (BGluM), the effects of opiates on BGluM are not well characterized. Moreover, preclinical positron emission tomography (PET) studies anesthetize animals during the scan, which limits clinical applications. We investigated the effects of (i) isoflurane anesthesia and (ii) intravenous morphine self-administration (MSA) on BGluM in rats. Jugular vein cannulated adult male Sprague-Dawley rats self-administered either saline (SSA) or morphine (0.5 mg/kg/infusion, 4 h/day for 12 days). All animals were scanned twice with [

Using data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider, we measure the energy dependence of the e(+)e(-) -> h(b)(nP)pi(+)pi(-) (n = 1, 2) cross sections from thresholds up to 11.02 GeV. We find clear gamma(10860) and gamma(11020) peaks with little or no continuum contribution. We study the resonant substructure of the gamma(11020) -> h(b)(nP)pi(+)pi(_) transitions and find evidence that they proceed entirely via the intermediate isovector states Z(b)(10610) and Z(b)(10650). The relative fraction of these states is loosely constrained by the current data: The hypothesis that only Z(b)(10610) is produced is excluded at the level of 3.3 standard deviations, while the hypothesis that only Z(b)(10650) is produced is not excluded at a significant level.

Using a data sample of 980 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) annihilation data taken with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider, we report the results of a study of excited Xi(c) states that decay, via the emission of photons and/or charged pions, into Xi(0)(c) or Xi(+)(c) ground state charmed-strange baryons. We present new measurements of the masses of all members of the Xi(0)(c), Xi(c)(2645), Xi(c)(2790), Xi(c)(2815), and Xi(c)(2980) isodoublets, measurements of the intrinsic widths of those that decay strongly, and evidence of previously unknown transitions.

We report a measurement of the CP-violation parameter phi(1) obtained in a time-dependent analysis of B-0 -> (D) over bar(*)(0)h(0) decays followed by (D) over bar (0) -> K-S(0)pi(+)pi decay. A model-independent measurement is performed using the binned Dalitz plot technique. The measured value is phi(1) = 11.7 degrees +/- 7.8 degrees(stat) +/- 2.1 degrees (syst). Treating sin 2 phi(1) and cos 2 phi(1) as independent parameters, we obtain sin 2 phi(1) = 0.43 +/- 0.27(stat) +/- 0.08(syst) and cos 2 phi(1) = 1.06 +/- 0.33(stat)(-0.15)(+0.21)(syst). The results are obtained with a full data sample of 772 x 10(6)B (B) over bar pairs collected near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider.

We report the discovery of Ξc(3055)0, observed by its decay into the final-state ΛD0, and present the first observation and evidence of the decays of Ξc(3055)+ and Ξc(3080)+ into ΛD+. We also perform a combined analysis of the ΛD+ with the Σc++K- and Σc∗++K- decay modes to measure the ratios of branching fractions, masses and widths with improved accuracy. We measure the ratios of branching fractions B(Ξc(3055)+→ΛD+)/B(Ξc(3055)+→Σc++K-)=5.09±1.01±0.76, B(Ξc(3080)+→ΛD+)/B(Ξc(3080)+→Σc++K-)=1.29±0.30±0.15, and B(Ξc(3080)+→Σc∗++K-)/B(Ξc(3080)+→Σc++K-)=1.07±0.27±0.04, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic. The analysis is performed using a 980 fb-1 data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e- collider.

We present a search for a non-Standard-Model invisible particle X-0 in the mass range 0.1-1.8 GeV/c(2) in B+ -> e(+)X(0) and B+ -> mu X-+(0) decays. The results are obtained from a 711 fb(-1) data sample that corresponds to 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs, collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. One B meson is fully reconstructed in a hadronic mode to determine the momentum of the lepton of the signal decay in the rest frame of the recoiling partner B meson. We find no evidence of a signal and set upper limits on the order of 10(-6).

The process gamma gamma -> p (p) over barK(+)K(-) and its intermediate processes are measured for the first time using a 980 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. The production of p (p) over barK(+)K(-) and a Lambda(1520)(0) ((Lambda) over bar (1520)(0)) signal in the pK(-) ((p) over barK(+)) invariant mass spectrum are clearly observed. However, no evidence for an exotic baryon near 1540 MeV/c(2), denoted as Theta(1540)(0) ((Theta) over bar (1540)(0)) or Theta(1540)(++) (Theta(1540)(--)), is seen in the pK(-) ((p) over barK(+)) or pK(+) ((p) over barK(-)) invariant mass spectra. Cross sections for gamma gamma -> p (p) over barK(+)K(-), Lambda(1520)(0)(p) over barK(+) + c.c. and the products sigma(gamma gamma -> Theta(1540)(0)(p) over barK(+) + c.c.)B(Theta(1540)(0) -> pK(-)) and sigma(gamma gamma -> Theta(1540)(++)(p) over barK(-) + c.c.)B(Theta(1540)(++) -> pK(+)) are measured. We also determine upper limits on the products of the chi(c0) and chi(c2) two-photon decay widths and their branching fractions to p (p) over barK(+)K(-) at the 90% credibility level.

We report the first observation of the decay Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(+)pi(-) using a 980 fb(-1) data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. This is the first observation of a doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay of a charmed baryon. We measure the branching ratio of this decay with respect to its Cabibbo-favored counterpart to be B(Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(+)pi(-))/B(Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+)) = (2.35 +/- 0.27 +/- 0.21) x 10(-3), where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

The branching fractions of the Upsilon(1S) inclusive decays into final states with a J/psi or psi(2S) are measured with improved precision to be B Upsilon(1S) -> J/psi + anything = (5.25 +/- 0.13(stat) +/- 0.25(syst) x 10(-4) and B Upsilon(1S) -> psi(2S) + anything = (1.23 +/- 0.17(stat) +/- 0.11(syst)) x 10(-4). The first search for Upsilon(1S) decays into XYZ states that decay into a J/psi or a psi(2S) plus one or two charged tracks yields no significant signals for XYZ states in any of the examined decay modes, and upper limits on their production rates in Upsilon(1S) inclusive decays are determined.

We have searched for the decay B-0 -> phi gamma sing the full Belle data set of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected at the gamma(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) collider. No signal is observed, and we set an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(B-0 -> phi gamma) < 1.0 x 10(-7) at the 90% confidence level. This is the most stringent limit on this decay mode to date.

We report the analysis of the three-body e(+)e(-) -> B (B) over bar pi(+/-), B (B) over bar*pi(+/-), and B*(B) over bar* pi(+/-) processes, including the first observations of the Z(b)(+/-)(10610) -> [B (B) over bar* + c.c.](+/-) and Z(b)(+/-)(10650) -> [B*(B) over bar*](+/-) transitions that are found to dominate the corresponding final states. We measure Born cross sections for the three-body production of sigma(e(+)e(-) -> [B (B) over bar* + c.c.](+/-)pi(-/+)) = [17.4 +/- 1.6(stat) +/- 1.9(syst)]pb and sigma(e(+)e(-) -> [B*(B) over bar*](+/-)pi(-/+)) = [8.75 +/- 1.15(stat) +/- 1.04(syst)] pb and set a 90% C.L. upper limit of sigma(e(+)e(-) -> [B (B) over bar](+/-)pi(-/+)) < 2.9 pb. The results are based on a 121.4 fb(-1) data sample collected with the Belle detector at a center-of-mass energy near the Upsilon(10860) peak.

We measure the decay Bs0→K0K0 using data collected at the ?(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 121.4 fb-1. We measure a branching fraction B(Bs0→K0K0)=[19.6-5.1+5.8(stat)±1.0(syst)±2.0(NBs0Bs0)]×10-6 with a significance of 5.1 standard deviations. This measurement constitutes the first observation of this decay.

For the first time, chi(c2) production in exclusive B decays in the modes B-0 -> chi(c2) pi K--(+) and B-0 -> chi(c2) pi(-)pi K-+(+) has been observed, along with first evidence for the B-0 -> chi(c2) pi K--(s)0 decay mode. For chi c1 production, we report the first observation in the B+ -> chi(c1) pi(-)pi K-+(+), B-0 -> chi(c1) pi(-)pi K-+(s)0 and B-0 -> chi(c1) pi(-)pi K-+(+) decay modes. Using these decay modes, we observe a difference in the production mechanism of chi(c2) in comparison to chi(c1) in B decays. In addition, we report searches for X(3872) and chi(c1) (2P) in the B+ -> (chi(c1) pi(+)pi(-))K+ decay mode. The reported results use 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar events collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider.

We report the first measurement of the lepton forward-backward asymmetry AFB as a function of the squared four-momentum of the dilepton system, q2, for the electroweak penguin process B→Xsl+l- with a sum of exclusive final states, where l is an electron or a muon and Xs is a hadronic recoil system with an s quark. The results are based on a data sample containing 772×106 BB¯ pairs recorded at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. AFB for the inclusive B→Xsl+l- is extrapolated from the sum of 10 exclusive Xs states whose invariant mass is less than 2 GeV/c2. For q2>10.2 GeV2/c2, AFB

We search for the rare radiative decay D-0 -> gamma gamma using a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 832 fb(-1) recorded by the Belle detector at the KEKB e(+)e(-) asymmetric-energy collider. We find no statistically significant signal and set an upper limit on the branching fraction of B(D-0 -> gamma gamma) < 8.5 x 10(-7) at 90% confidence level. This is the most restrictive limit on the decay channel to date.

We present a measurement of the branching fraction and the longitudinal polarization fraction of B-0 -> rho(+)rho(-) decays, as well as the time-dependent CP violating parameters in decays into longitudinally polarized rho(+)rho(-) pairs with Belle's final data set of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs, at the Upsilon(4S) resonance, collected at the asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider KEKB. We obtain B(B-0 -> rho(+)rho(-)) = (28.3 +/- 1.5(stat) +/- 1.5(syst)) x 10(-6), f(L) = 0.988 +/- 0.012(stat) +/- 0.023(syst), A(CP) = 0.00 +/- 0.10(stat) +/- 0.06(syst), S-CP = -0.13 +/- 0.15(stat) +/- 0.05(syst). We perform an isospin analysis to constrain the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle phi(2) and obtain two solutions with phi(2) = (93.7 +/- 10.6)degrees, being most compatible with other Standard-Model based fits to the data.

We present a determination of the magnitude of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element vertical bar V-cb vertical bar using the decay B -> Dl nu(l) (l = e,mu) based on 711 fb(-1) of e(+)e(-) -> Upsilon(4S) data recorded by the Belle detector and containing 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs. One B meson in the event is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode, while the other, on the signal side, is partially reconstructed from a charged lepton and either a D+ or D-0 meson in a total of 23 hadronic decay modes. The isospin-averaged branching fraction of the decay B -> Dl nu(l) is found to be B(B-0 -> D(-)l(vertical bar)nu(l)) = (2.31 +/- 0.03(stat) +/- 0.11(syst))%. Analyzing the differential decay rate as a function of the hadronic recoil with the parametrization of Caprini, Lellouch, and Neubert and using the form-factor prediction G(1) = 1.0541 +/- 0.0083 calculated by FNAL/MILC, we obtain eta(EW)vertical bar V-cb vertical bar = (40.12 +/- 1.34) x 10(-3), where eta(EW) is the electroweak correction factor. Alternatively, assuming the model-independent form-factor parametrization of Boyd, Grinstein, and Lebed and using lattice QCD data from the FNAL/MILC and HPQCD collaborations, we find eta(EW)vertical bar V-cb vertical bar = (41.10 +/- 1.14) x 10(-3).

We report a measurement of the B-0 -> psi(2S)pi(0) branching fraction based on the full Upsilon(4S) data set of 772 x 10(6) B (B) over bar pairs collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We obtain B(B-0 -> psi(2S)pi(0)) = (1.17 +/- 0.17(stat) +/- 0.08(syst)) x 10(-5). The result has a significance of 7.2 standard deviations and is the first observation of the decay B-0 -> psi(2S)pi(0).

We search for the process B-0 -> pi(-) tau(+)nu(tau) using the full Belle data set of 711 fb(-1), corresponding to 772 x 10(6)B (B) over bar pairs, collected at the gamma (4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e(+)e(-) collider. We reconstruct one B meson in a hadronic decay and search for the B-0 -> pi(-)tau(+)nu(tau) process in the remainder of the event. No significant signal is observed and an upper limit of B(B-0 -> pi(-) tau(+)nu(tau)) < 2.5 x 10(-4) is obtained at the 90% confidence level.

We report the first measurement of the lepton forward-backward asymmetry AFB as a function of the squared four-momentum of the dilepton system, q2, for the electroweak penguin process B→Xs+- with a sum of exclusive final states, where is an electron or a muon and Xs is a hadronic recoil system with an s quark. The results are based on a data sample containing 772×106 BB¯ pairs recorded at the (4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. AFB for the inclusive B→Xs+- is extrapolated from the sum of 10 exclusive Xs states whose invariant mass is less than 2 GeV/c2. For q2>10.2 GeV2/c2, AFB

Individuals report a wide range of analgesia to similar doses of opiates, and not all opiate users become addicted. This suggests that there may be certain predispositions that influence one to develop opiate addiction. We investigated the relationship between the individual differences in initial morphine sensitivity and the subsequent development of opiate addiction-like behavior using a hot plate test and an intravenous morphine self-administration (MSA) paradigm in rats. Using a median split of initial morphine antinociception, animals were defined as low antinociception (LA) and high antinociception (HA) groups. Thus, the LA group represents the animals that were less sensitive to initial morphine antinociception as compared to those of the HA group. The animals were allowed to self-administer either saline or morphine (0.5 mg/kg/infusion, 4hr/day) 5 days per week for 3 weeks. Spontaneous locomotor activity was measured on self-administration days 10 and 15. Individual differences in initial morphine sensitivity were not correlated with the amount of morphine self-administered by the animals on day 1. In the second-week of MSA, the LA group exhibited increased morphine intake and locomotor hyperactivity as compared to those of the HA group. Therefore, certain animals that are less sensitive to initial morphine antinociception may be susceptible to developing opiate addiction. The current findings may have clinical implications for future research on the biological mechanisms of opiate addiction and preclinical medication development.

We report a measurement of the differential cross section of $\pi^0$ pair production in single-tag two-photon collisions, $\gamma^* \gamma \to \pi^0 \pi^0$, in $e^+ e^-$ scattering. The cross section is measured for $Q^2$ up to 30 GeV$^2$, where $Q^2$ is the negative of the invariant mass squared of the tagged photon, in the kinematic range 0.5 GeV < W < 2.1 GeV and $|\cos \theta^*|$ < 1.0 for the total energy and pion scattering angle, respectively, in the $\gamma^* \gamma$ center-of-mass system. The results are based on a data sample of 759 fb$^{-1}$ collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^+ e^-$ collider. The transition form factor of the $f_0(980)$ and that of the $f_2(1270)$ with the helicity-0, -1, and -2 components separately are measured for the first time and are compared with theoretical calculations., Comment: 36 pages, 37 figures, 11 tables, Belle Preprint 2015-15, KEK Preprint 2015-24

We report new measurements of the total cross sections for e(+)e(-) -> Upsilon(nS)pi(+)pi(-) (n = 1, 2, 3) and e(+)e(-) -> b (b) over bar from a high-luminosity fine scan of the region root s = 10.63-11.05 GeV with the Belle detector. We observe that the Upsilon(nS)pi(+)pi(-) spectra have little or no nonresonant component and extract from them the masses and widths of Upsilon(10860) and Upsilon(11020) and their relative phase. We find M-10860 = (10891.1 +/- 3.2(-1.7)(+0.6)) MeV/c(2) and Gamma(10860) = (53.7(-5.6)(-5.4)(+7.1)(+1.3)) MeV and report first measurements M-11020 = (1098(-2.5)(-2.1)(+6.4)(+9.0)) MeV/c(2), Gamma(11020) = (61(-19)(-20)(+9)(+2)) MeV, and phi(11020) - phi 10860 = (-1.0 +/- 0.4(-0.1)(+1.4)) rad.

A photochemical box model constrained by ancillary observations was used to simulate OH and HO2 concentrations for three days of ambient observations during the HOxComp field campaign held in Jülich, Germany in July 2005. Daytime OH levels observed by four instruments were fairly well reproduced to within 33% by a base model run (Regional Atmospheric Chemistry Mechanism with updated isoprene chemistry adapted from Master Chemical Mechanism ver. 3.1) with high R2 values (0.72–0.97) over a range of isoprene (0.3–2 ppb) and NO (0.1–10 ppb) mixing ratios. Daytime HO2(*) levels, reconstructed from the base model results taking into account the sensitivity toward speciated RO2 (organic peroxy) radicals, as recently reported from one of the participating instruments in the HO2 measurement mode, were 93% higher than the observations made by the single instrument. This also indicates an overprediction of the HO2 to OH recycling. Together with the good model-measurement agreement for OH, it implies a missing OH source in the model. Modeled OH and HO2(*) could only be matched to the observations by addition of a strong unknown loss process for HO2(*) that recycles OH at a high yield. Adding to the base model, instead, the recently proposed isomerization mechanism of isoprene peroxy radicals (Peeters and Müller, 2010) increased OH and HO2(*) by 28% and 13% on average. Although these were still only 4% higher than the OH observations made by one of the instruments, larger overestimations (42–70%) occurred with respect to the OH observations made by the other three instruments. The overestimation in OH could be diminished only when reactive alkanes (HC8) were solely introduced to the model to explain the missing fraction of observed OH reactivity. Moreover, the overprediction of HO2(*) became even larger than in the base case. These analyses imply that the rates of the isomerization are not readily supported by the ensemble of radical observations. One of the measurement days was characterized by low isoprene concentrations (∼0.5 ppb) and OH reactivity that was well explained by the observed species, especially before noon. For this selected period, as opposed to the general behavior, the model tended to underestimate HO2(*). We found that this tendency is associated with high NOx concentrations, suggesting that some HO2 production or regeneration processes under high NOx conditions were being overlooked; this might require revision of ozone production regimes.

Reduced energy consumption is critical in industrial applications. In this manuscript, we report our findings on cutting condition improvement for 5-axis machine tools, specifically addressing tool angles and cutting speed in an effort to reduce energy consumption. An optimized inclined angle is determined by cutting experiments to reduce energy consumption and the basis of results are investigated. Workpieces produced under standard and improved cutting conditions are compared to verify the effects of lowered energy consumption.

For the Belle II experiment at the superKEKB, we have been developing a proximity focusing ring imaging Cherenkov detector using a silica aerogel as a radiator. A 144-channel Hybrid Avalanche Photo-Detector which is developed with Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. was adopted as the photon detector for the Aerogel RICH counter. We have conducted beam tests in order to evaluate the particle identification performance for the A-RICH system. One of our current concern for the system is a radiation hardness of the HAPD. In order to realize the neutron hardness for 10-year Belle II operation, we have tried to make APDs with a thinner P-layer which is expected to help in reducing the leakage current. As a result, we actually confirmed effects of the improved APD. In this paper, we would alike to report the status of the A-RICH development, especially about the improvement of the HAPD.

- Abstract
We report the first observation of the decay Λ_{c}^{+}→pK^{+}π^{-} using a 980 fb^{-1} data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^{+}e^{-} collider. This is the first observation of a doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay of a charmed baryon. We measure the branching ratio of this decay with respect to its Cabibbo-favored counterpart to be B(Λ_{c}^{+}→pK^{+}π^{-})/B(Λ_{c}^{+}→pK^{-}π^{+})=(2.35±0.27±0.21)×10^{-3}, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively.

- Abstract
We measure the decay B_{s}^{0}→K^{0}K[over ¯]^{0} using data collected at the ϒ(5S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e^{+}e^{-} collider. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 121.4 fb^{-1}. We measure a branching fraction B(B_{s}^{0}→K^{0}K[over ¯]^{0})=[19.6_{-5.1}^{+5.8}(stat)±1.0(syst)±2.0(N_{B_{s}^{0}B[over ¯]_{s}^{0}})]×10^{-6} with a significance of 5.1 standard deviations. This measurement constitutes the first observation of this decay.

We report the results of a study of B KIrk and /II K tic(2S) decays followed by qc and '/c(2S) decays to (K5K7). The results are obtained from a data sample containing 535 million BB-meson pairs collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+e- collider. We measure the products of the branching fractions B(B > IC7ic)13(71, Ks K 7T) = (26.7 1.4(stat)+N(syst) 4.9(model)) x 10-6 and 8(B -+ K 71c(25))8(rIc(2S) Ksi(7tT) = (3.4+N(stat + model)t(syst)) x 10-6. Interference with the non-resonant component leads to significant model uncertainty in the measurement of these product branching fractions. Our analysis accounts for this interference and allows the model uncertainty to be reduced. We also obtain the following charmonia masses and widths: MO/c) = (2985.4 1.5(stat)1:8(syst)) MeV /c2, r(t1c)= (35.1 3.1(sta0+1:2(syst)) MeV/c2, M(ric (2S)) = (3636.111(stat + model)+3:70 (syst)) MeV/c2, r (17c (2S)) = (6.61:1(stat + model)11(syst)) MeV/c2. We search for lepton-flavor-violating tau-> ell V^0 decays, where ell is an electron or muon and V^0 is one of the vector mesons rho^0, phi, omega, K*0 and K*0-bar. We use 854 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. No evidence for a signal is found in any decay mode, and we obtain 90% confidence level upper limits on the individual branching fractions in the range (1.2-8.4)*10^{-8}., 13 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Phys.
