Biographical information instruments, or biodata instruments, and assessment centers are two consistency procedures which can be used to determine appropriate candidates for top management positions. A study which gathered biographical data on 66 managerial candidates using structured interviews attempted to generate consensus ratings on nine dimensions relating to performance for the position of general manager. Research results indicate the existence of concurrent validity evidence which demonstrates support for the selection system using biographical information consisting of structured interviews, consensus discussion, and superior-peer-subordinate ratings.
