This study investigated the inclusion of magnesium silicate monohydrate (MSMH) crystal in MgO–SiO 2 mixes designed for extrusion-based 3D printing. Considering the adjustment and optimization of rheological properties are fundamental for the printability of cement pastes, the dynamic rheology, thixotropy and strength development of the prepared mixes were analyzed to characterize their fresh properties, workability, buildability, and mechanical performance. Furthermore, isothermal calorimetry, X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TG/DTG), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were employed to investigate the phase composition and microstructural evolution of the pastes, with and without the presence of MSMH. Addition of MSMH at 2 % of the binder component significantly enhanced the plastic viscosity, dynamic yield stress and thixotropy. Pastes incorporating 2 % MSMH exhibited excellent structural build-up without affecting extrudability, with a minimal strain deformation in the printed structure. The compressive strength of all pastes exceeded 20 MPa after 3 days, reaching ∼50 MPa at 28 days with 2 % MSMH inclusion. The introduction of MSMH improved the peak heat flow measured by isothermal calorimetry and enhanced the formation and growth of hydration products after 7 days of curing, resulting in a more compact microstructure. This paper explored the effects of various amounts of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs), namely 0%, 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.4% of binder weight, on the rheology, pore structure, mechanical properties, and 3D distribution of fibers of an engineered cementitious composite (ECC). The two rheological parameters, namely the yield stress and plastic viscosity, of the matrix containing the CNCs increased. Low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) analysis, as a non-destructive method, proved that the addition of the CNCs to the ECC could reduce the porosity of the material and refine its pore size distribution. The addition of the CNCs enhanced the compressive strength of the ECC by 19.6%-33%. The results from uniaxial tensile tests showed incorporating the CNCs into the matrix could enhance the initial cracking strength and ultimate tensile strength of the ECC but reduce their tensile strain-hardening capacity. The optimal addition of 0.1% CNCs could effectively offset the decrease in strength due to increasing FA content, and maintain a relatively high level of tensile strain capacity of over 3%. Finally, X-ray micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) with ORS Dragonfly software was employed to reconstruct 3D images of the ECC to present the improvement in the fiber distribution due to the addition of the CNCs. This study introduces phthalic anhydride (P) and glycerol (G)‐based polyester as an additive for upgrading lower‐grade bitumen to higher‐grade bitumen. The different colorless polyesters were synthesized using polycondensation of P and G as a monomer in the ratio of 1:1 and polymerization time of 1, 3, 5, and 7 h. A rheological analysis was performed on all the synthesized polyesters to check their performance with respect to their use in bitumen modification. The polyesters were blended with base bitumens (VG10) to obtain the modified bitumens that were tested for the rheological and physicochemical properties and to assess the performance based on the grade quality test. The quality test of the modified bitumens includes softening point (SP), penetration (PEN), kinematic viscosity (KV), dynamic viscosity (DV), and rheological properties as per standard ASTM test methods. Based on the performance evaluation, P1G1H3 polyester was found suitable for blending with bitumen, and further study was carried out with blending of P1G1H3 with 3, 6, 10, and 15 wt%. The finding illustrates that 6.0 wt% of polyester‐modified bitumen show an enhanced SP, KV, and DV by 23.6, 86, and 30%, respectively, while decreasing the PEN by 49% with respect to VG10. Polyester blending also improved the rheological parameters in terms of deformation resistance, load‐bearing capacity, and the viscoelastic nature of bitumen. Simple Summary: Chicken liver pate is a smooth and spreadable product made from chicken meat, chicken livers, fat, seasoning and other optional ingredients (such as hydrocolloids). Hydrocolloids (polysaccharides or proteins) are commonly used in spreadable meat/poultry products (such as chicken liver pâté) to improve texture, stability and moisture retention, resulting in a product with desired functional and organoleptic properties. In general, the chicken liver pâté samples showed their highest hardness and viscoelastic moduli values when κ-carrageenan and furcellaran were used. Suggestions for producing a softer chicken liver pâté consistency involve utilizing ι-carrageenan at a level between 0.25% and 0.75% (w/w) or furcellaran at a 0.25% w/w concentration. We can conclude that the use of hydrocolloids in the manufacturing of chicken liver pâté could be an effective solution leading to the development of products with desired techno-functional properties. Hydrocolloids are used in spreadable meat or poultry products to improve consistency, emulsion stability and water retention, resulting in products with desired functional and organoleptic properties. The scope of the work was to evaluate the addition of three divergent algal hydrocolloids (κ-carrageenan, ι-carrageenan, furcellaran) at four different concentrations (0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00% w/w) on the physicochemical, textural, rheological and organoleptic properties of model chicken liver pâté (CLP) samples. Overall, the highest hardness and viscoelastic moduli values of the CLP samples were reported when κ-carrageenan and furcellaran were utilized at a concentration of 0.75% w/w (p < 0.05). Furthermore, increasing the concentrations of the utilized hydrocolloids led to increase in the viscoelastic moduli and hardness values of CLP. Compared to the control sample, an increase in spreadability was reported in the CLP samples with the addition of hydrocolloids. This review comprehensively explores the multifunctional applications of pectins derived from food waste and by-products, emphasizing their role as versatile biomaterials in the medical-related sectors. Pectins, known for their polyelectrolytic nature and ability to form hydrogels, influence the chemical composition, sensory properties, and overall acceptability of food and pharmaceutical products. The study presents an in-depth analysis of molecular parameters and structural features of pectins, such as the degree of esterification (DE), monosaccharide composition, galacturonic acid (GalA) content, and relative amounts of homogalacturonan (HG) and rhamnogalacturonan I (RG-I), which are critical for their technofunctional properties and biological activity. Emphasis is placed on pectins obtained from various waste sources, including fruits, vegetables, herbs, and nuts. The review also highlights the importance of structure–function relationships, especially with respect to the interfacial properties and rheological behavior of pectin solutions and gels. Biological applications, including antioxidant, immunomodulatory, anticancer, and antimicrobial activities, are also discussed, positioning pectins as promising biomaterials for various functional and therapeutic applications. Recalled pectins can also support the growth of probiotic bacteria, thus increasing the health benefits of the final product. The need for ending plastic waste and creating a circular economy has prompted significant interest in developing a new family of composite materials through recycling and recovery of waste resources (including bio-sourced materials). In this work, a family of natural fiber-reinforced plastic composites has been developed from paint pail waste recycled polypropylene (rPP) and waste wool fibers of different diameter and aspect ratio. Composites were fabricated by melt processing using polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride as a compatibilizer. The internal morphology, interfacial and thermal characteristics, viscoelastic behavior, water sorption/wettability, and mechanical properties of composites were studied using electron microscopy, high-resolution synchrotron Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy, thermal analysis, rheology, immersion test, contact angle measurement, tensile test and flexural test. The composite matrix exhibited an internal morphology of coalescent micro-droplets due to the presence of polyethylene and dry paint in the rPP phase. In general, the rheological and mechanical properties of the composites comprising higher-aspect-ratio (lower diameter) fibers exhibited relatively superior performance. About an 18% increase in tensile strength and a 39% increase in flexural strength were measured for composites with an optimal fiber loading of 10 wt.%. Interfacial debonding and fiber pull-out were observed as the main failure mechanism of the composites. This work is part of the current research trend to develop a hydrogel carrier of insulin to promote wound healing. Topically applied insulin promotes keratinocyte proliferation and migration, increases collagen synthesis, reduces inflammation and oxidative stress, and exhibits antimicrobial activity. The aim of this study was to design an insulin hydrogel matrix based on selected cellulose derivatives (methylcellulose, hydroxyethylcellulose, and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose) and chitosan. Rheological parameters of the formulations were evaluated using rotational rheometry and an oscillation test. Textural tests were performed. In vitro pharmaceutical insulin availability studies were carried out using the innovative Strat-M® membrane to imitate the skin barrier. It was found that the pharmaceutical formulation of insulin based on chitosan and methylcellulose showed an acceptable balance between rheological and textural parameters and ease of application. The API was released from the carrier in a prolonged manner, eliminating the need to apply the formulation several times per day. The developed hydrogel shows potential for use in clinical practice. Coal water slurry (CWS) has been considered a cleaner and sustainable alternative to coal. However, the challenging suspension of coal particles in CWS has created a major obstacle to its use in industry. This study presents a novel approach to enhance the stability and rheological properties of coal water slurry (CWS) through the utilization of carboxyalkylated lignin (CL) as a dispersant. The generated CL samples had high water solubility of around 9 g/L and a charge density of around 2 mmol/g. All CLs were able to stabilize the coal suspension, and their performance decreased due to the increase in the alkyl chain length of carboxyalkylated lignin. Carboxymethylated lignin (CL-1) improved the stability of the coal suspensions with the lowest instability index of less than 0.6. The addition of CLs reduced the contact angle of the coal surface from 45.3° to 34.6°, and the increase in the alkyl chain length hampered its effect on contact angle changes. The zeta potential measurements confirmed that the adsorption of CL enhanced the electrostatic repulsion between coal particles in suspensions, and the zeta potential decreased with the increased alkyl chain length of CLs due to increased steric hindrance. The rheology results indicated that CLs demonstrated shear thinning behavior. This innovative method showcases the affinity of carboxyalkylated lignin to improve the performance of CWS, offering an environmentally friendly alternative for producing a cleaner product, i.e., sustainable coal water slurry, with improved suspension stability. The integration of compatibilisers with thermoplastics has revolutionised the field of polymer composites, enhancing their mechanical, thermal, and rheological properties. This study investigates the synergistic effects of incorporating SEBS-g-MAH on the mechanical, thermal, and rheological properties of polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene/graphene oxide (PC/ABS/GO) (PAGO) and the properties of polycarbonate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene/graphene oxide (PC/ABS/rGO) (PArGO) composites through the melt blending method. The synergistic effects on thermal stability and processability were analysed by using thermogravimetry (TGA), melt flow index (MFI), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The addition of SEBS-g-MAH improved the elongation at break (EB) of PAGO and PArGO up to 33% and 73%, respectively, compared to the uncompatibilised composites. The impact strength of PAGO was synergistically enhanced by 75% with the incorporation of 5 phr SEBS-g-MAH. A thermal analysis revealed that SEBS-g-MAH improved the thermal stability of the composites, with an increase in the degradation temperature (T80%) of up to 17% for PAGO at 1 phr SEBS-g-MAH loading. The compatibilising effect of SEBS-g-MAH was confirmed by FTIR analysis, which indicated interactions between the maleic anhydride groups and the PC/ABS matrix and GO/rGO fillers. The rheological measurements showed that the incorporation of SEBS-g-MAH enhanced the melt flowability (MFI) of the composites, with a maximum increase of 38% observed for PC/ABS. These results demonstrate the potential of SEBS-g-MAH as a compatibiliser for improving the unnotched impact strength (mechanical), thermal, and rheological properties of PC/ABS/GO and PC/ABS/rGO composites, achieving a synergistic effect. This article is devoted to the study of heat exchange of a heated flow of waxy oil in a pipe. Heat exchange between the waxy oil flow and the surrounding environment decreases the oil temperature and sharply increases the rheological properties. The appearance of a solid-like region within the yield-stress fluid flow is a non-trivial problem. This flow property greatly complicates the numerical solution of the system of equations governing the flow and heat transfer of viscoplastic fluids. The Bingham–Papanastasiou model allows one to solve the problem by regularizing the formula for effective molecular viscosity. The novelty of this work lies in establishing the dependence of the Nusselt number on the Reynolds and Bingham numbers for the flow of viscoplastic fluid in a pipe. Via calculations, velocity, temperature, and pressure distributions in the flow were obtained for Bingham numbers ranging from 1.7 to 118.29 and Reynolds numbers ranging from 104 to 2615. Tunnel stability is influenced by the rheological properties of the surrounding rock. This study, based on the Ganshen high-speed railway tunnel project, examines the rheological characteristics of siltstone and sandstone through laboratory tests and theoretical analysis. Rheological curves and parameters are derived, revealing the time-dependent deformation mechanisms of the surrounding rocks. A numerical simulation model is created using these parameters to analyze deformation and stress characteristics based on different rock levels and inverted arch closure distances. Results indicate that sandstone follows the Cvisc model, with the Maxwell elastic modulus increasing under higher loads while the viscous coefficient decreases. The vault displacement is mainly affected by the surrounding rock strength; lower strength leads to greater displacement, which also increases with the closure distance of the inverted arch. The development of self-compacting lightweight concretes is associated with solving two conflicting tasks: achieving a structure with both high flowability and homogeneity. This study aimed to identify the technological and rheological characteristics of the flow of concrete mixtures D1400...D1600 based on hollow microspheres in comparison with heavy fine-grained D2200 concrete and to establish their structural and physico-mechanical characteristics. The study of the concrete mixtures was carried out using the slump flow test and the rotational viscometry method. The physical and mechanical properties were studied using standard methods for determining average density and flexural and compressive strength. According to the results of the research conducted, differences in the flow behaviors of concrete mixtures on dense and hollow aggregates were found. Lightweight concretes on hollow microspheres exhibited better mobility than heavy concretes. It was shown that the self-compacting coefficients of the lightweight D1400...D1600 concrete mixtures were comparable with that of the heavy D2200 concrete. The rheological curves described by the Ostwald–de Waele equation showed a dilatant flow behavior of the D1400 concrete mixtures, regardless of the ratio of quartz powder to fractionated sand. For D1500 and D1600, the dilatant flow behavior changed to pseudoplastic, with a ratio of quartz powder to fractional sand of 25/75. The studied compositions of lightweight concrete can be described as homogeneous at any ratio of quartz powder to fractional sand. It was shown that concrete mixtures with a pronounced dilatant flow character had higher resistance to segregation. The value of the ratio of quartz powder to fractional sand had a statistically insignificant effect on the average density of the studied concretes. However, the flexural and compressive strengths varied significantly more in heavy concretes (up to 38%) than in lightweight concretes (up to 18%) when this factor was varied. The specific strength of lightweight and heavy concrete compositions with a ratio of quartz powder to fractional sand of 0/100 had close values in the range of 20.4...22.9 MPa, and increasing the share of quartz powder increased the difference between compositions of different densities. The coating effect of 1,2-bis(triethoxysilyl)ethane (BTES) on carbonyl iron particles (CIPs) was enhanced by etching with hydrochloric acid (HCl) of various concentrations, and magnetorheological fluids (MRFs) with significantly improved dispersion stability were obtained. The microstructures, coating effect, and magnetism of CIPs were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), automatic surface and porosity analysis (BTE), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), respectively. Furthermore, the rheological properties and dispersion stability of the MRFs were assessed by a rotating rheometer and a Turbiscan Tower. The results show that as the HCl concentration increased, nanopores appeared on CIPs and then disappeared, and the specific surface area of the particles increased and then decreased. When the concentration of HCl was 0.50 mol/L, the number of nanopores and the specific surface area of particles changed sharply. Not only that, the coated mass of BTES increased greatly and the saturation magnetization of particles decreased sharply. As the coated mass increased, without a magnetic field, the viscosity and shear stress of the MRFs increased, especially when the coated mass was more than 2.45 wt.%; while under a magnetic field, the viscosity and shear stress decreased, and the sedimentation rate of the MRFs decreased from 0.13 to 0.01 mm/h. By controlling the concentration of HCl for etching, the coating effect of CIPs was greatly enhanced, and thus an MRF with superior shear stress and excellent dispersion stability was obtained, which is significant in basic research and MRF-related applications. Vascular diseases are widespread, and sometimes such life-threatening medical disorders cause abnormal blood flow, blood particle damage, changes to flow dynamics, restricted blood flow, and other adverse effects. The study of vascular flow is crucial in clinical practice because it can shed light on the causes of stenosis, aneurysm, blood cancer, and many other such diseases, and guide the development of novel treatments and interventions. Microfluidics and computational fluid dynamics (CFDs) are two of the most promising new tools for investigating these phenomena. When compared to conventional experimental methods, microfluidics offers many benefits, including lower costs, smaller sample quantities, and increased control over fluid flow and parameters. In this paper, we address the strengths and weaknesses of computational and experimental approaches utilizing microfluidic devices to investigate the rheological properties of blood, the forces of action causing diseases related to cardiology, provide an overview of the models and methodologies of experiments, and the fabrication of devices utilized in these types of research, and portray the results achieved and their applications. We also discuss how these results can inform clinical practice and where future research should go. Overall, it provides insights into why a combination of both CFDs, and experimental methods can give even more detailed information on disease mechanisms recreated on a microfluidic platform, replicating the original biological system and aiding in developing the device or chip itself. AbstractIn order to find an optimal antibacterial agent for Polycarbonate (PC), five quaternary fluoroalkyl phosphonium salts (FAPS) with iodine anions (PPICF-13), tetrafluoroborate (FB-PPCF-13), trifluoromethanesulfonate (TFMS-PPCF-13), methanesulfonate (MS-PPCF-13), and p-toluenesulfonate (pTS-PPCF-13), each with a side chain of 13 fluorine atoms, were incorporated were incorporated into PC with a mass ratio of 2.5 wt.%. The influence of the counter anions on the rheological properties, mechanical properties, appearance and light transmittance, antibacterial activity and cytotoxicity of the antibacterial PCs were investigated. The results showed that all the FAPS could impart PC with above 90% of antibacterial degree. The melt flow rate of the PC was increased due to the plasticizing effect of FAPS. The incorporation of up to 2.5 wt.% FAPS had no negative influence on the flexural strength, flexural modulus and tensile strength of the PC, but reduced the impact strength of the PC to varying degrees, depending on the counter anion. All five of the FAPS influenced the appearance and light transmittance of PC, and the TFMS-PPCF-13, MS-PPCF-13 and pTS-PPCF-13 samples appeared to have less impact on these properties than PPICF-13 and FB-PPCF-13. All antibacterial PCs; except for the antibacterial PC containing PPICF-13, exhibited no cytotoxicity. The progression of membrane technology fundamentally depends on a deep understanding of the rheological properties of polymeric solutions, particularly for producing high-performance membranes. This research investigates the rheological behavior of polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) solutions containing organic additives – namely polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) – in N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) solvent, and their crucial role in membrane manufacturing. Using a rheometer, we analyzed the impact of different PPSU concentrations (10 to 30 wt.%), shear rates (0 to 100 1/s), and temperatures (20°C to 50°C) on the solutions’ rheological properties. The study also evaluated the effects of adding 5 wt.% PEG and PVP to PPSU solutions. Findings indicated that pure PPSU solutions had lower viscosities compared to those modified with PVP, while PEG addition resulted in even higher viscosities. A rise in temperature significantly lowered viscosities across all solutions, highlighting the importance of temperature in controlling polymer solution fluidity. Shear stress consistently demonstrated a linear relationship with shear rate, indicating shear-thinning behavior. This study illuminates how polymer concentration, organic additives, and temperature critically influence the rheological properties of PPSU solutions, emphasizing their importance in enhancing membrane fabrication for improved performance and efficiency. κ‐carrageenan, an algae‐extracted polysaccharide known for its emulsifying properties, is widely used in food and beauty products. Because of its abundance in nature, similarity to natural glycosaminoglycans, and biocompatibility, it is a promising alternative to animal gelatin for tissue engineering. Key to the more widespread use of κ‐carrageenan for biomedical applications is its processability, which is hampered by its temperature‐dependent rheological properties. Here, a κ‐carrageenan‐based ink is introduced that can be 3D printed at room temperature through direct ink writing (DIW). This is achieved by formulating κ‐carrageenan as microgels that are covalently crosslinked through a second network, resulting in double network granular hydrogels (DNGHs). These DNGHs can be stiffened to reach stiffnesses up to 0.9 MPa under tension and 1.1 MPa under compression through the addition of metal ions and glucose. The metal/glucose reinforcement also increases the work of fracture up to 1.1 MJ m−3, exceeding that of unmodified κ‐carrageenan DNGHs 50‐fold. The potential of the ink by room temperature 3D printing cm‐sized free‐standing load‐bearing structures is demonstrated. This ink is envisaged to be a well‐suited algae‐derived alternative for the animal‐based gelatin for tissue engineering and in food applications for example as soft confectionery products. The rheology of materials near fault zones controls the deformation of the fault, thus playing an important role in the rupture propagation of large earthquakes. Here, we model the postseismic deformation in the first 4 years following the 2019 Ridgecrest earthquake, and probe the laterally variable lower‐crustal viscosity and fault afterslip, using a combined model incorporating afterslip and viscoelastic relaxation. Modeling results reveal that laterally variable low‐viscosity zones (1017∼1018 Pa·s) beneath the Coso Volcanic Field are required to explain the observations well. These low‐viscosity materials may reduce the width of the brittle part of the fault, thus affecting the northwestward propagation of the 2019 Ridgecrest earthquake rupture and the spatial pattern of nearby seismicity. Numerical simulations reveal that the postseismic viscoelastic relaxation of the event will cause contractional strain in the upper‐crustal magma reservoirs, which may counteract the extensional strain caused by the coseismic rupture. Plain Language Summary: The 2019 Ridgecrest earthquakes ruptured an orthogonal fault in Southern California, which changed the stress state of materials in the source region and caused significant postseismic crustal deformation. Here, we use geodetic observations to measure the postseismic deformation in the first 4.0 years following the event. Then, we construct a combined model incorporating fault afterslip and relaxation of deep ductile layers to explain the observations. Our results reveal that low‐viscosity zones beneath the Coso Volcanic Field are required to explain observations reasonably. These low‐viscosity materials may reduce the width of the brittle part of the fault, and thus arrest the northwestward rupture propagation of the 2019 Ridgecrest earthquake. Forward calculations suggest that the extensional strain due to the coseismic rupture can promote the Coso volcano toward reactivation, but the postseismic viscoelastic relaxation effect may impede the evolution and compensate for the coseismic effect in a few decades after the event. [Display omitted] With the vigorous development and huge demand for portable wearable devices, wearable electronics based on functional fibers continue to emerge in a wide range of energy storage, motion monitoring, disease prevention, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, etc. MXene, as an emerging two-dimensional inorganic compound, has shown great potential in functional fiber manufacturing and has attracted much research attention due to its own good mechanical properties, high electrical conductivity, excellent electrochemical properties and favorable processability. Herein, this paper reviews recent advances of MXene-based fibers. Speaking to MXene dispersions, the properties of MXene dispersions including dispersion stability, rheological properties and liquid crystalline properties are highlighted. The preparation techniques used to produce MXene-based fibers and application progress regarding MXene-based fibers into supercapacitors, sensors, EMI shielding and Joule heaters are summarized. Challenges and prospects surrounding the development of MXene-based fibers are proposed in future. This review aims to provide processing guidelines for MXene-based fiber manufacturing, thereby achieving more possibilities of MXene-based fibers in advanced applications with a view to injecting more vitality into the field of smart wearables. Oil drilling fluids require additives to control and regulate their rheological properties. For water-based mud, many components such as polymers are introduced to respond to specific functions. In this work, starches extracted from potatoes and corn, were proposed as a filtration controller and their effects on the rheological properties of Algerian Na-Bentonite are examined. The potato and corn starches were fabricated by adopting an easy, eco-friendly, and cost-effective route (peeling, mixing, filtration and drying) for potatoes and (soaking, crushing, filtration and drying) for corn kernels. A comparative study of the rheological properties included apparent viscosity, plastic viscosity, yield point and gel strength. The measurements were performed in the presence of caustic soda and potassium chloride while varying the concentration for both starches (0.6, 1.2, and 2.0%) and potassium chloride (1.5, 3.0, and 4.5%). From the obtained results, both potato and corn starches enhanced the rheological properties meanwhile reduced the fluid loss and the filter cake thickness by an average of (20.66% and 26.66%) and (6.33% and 17.77%), respectively in basic/saline media drilling fluid formulations. This research demonstrates that bio-starches stand as a potential alternative additives for the enhancement of rheological and filtration properties in water-based drilling fluids. This paper was to develop a prediction framework for obtaining the rheological properties of extracted and recovered asphalt binders utilizing mixture performance and other factors such as in-place air voids, pavement structure, traffic level, and aging duration. A total of 21 field projects consisting of 66 pavement sections were included in the analysis, which were located in different climatic zones with various RAP contents, traffic levels, pavement structures, pavement age, and material properties. Results indicate that the neural network can be successfully adopted to predict cracking-related binder properties consisting of effective asphalt binder, G*sin(δ) and binder fracture energy, and rutting-related binder properties including high temperature performance grade (PG), MSCR Jnr3.2, and R3.2. Commonly used brine-based completion fluids are calcium chloride, sodium chloride, and potassium chloride. Our main objective for this study is to overcome the rheological performance and density limitations of existing brine-based completion fluid for workover and completion in oil and gas reservoirs. Magnesium Bromide-based completion fluid exhibits a high-density 13.41-lb/gal, with a specific gravity of 1.61. Existing, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, and sodium chloride-based completion fluid exhibit a density of 11.64-lb/gal (specific gravity 1.39), 9.6-lb/gal, (specific gravity 1.15), and 10.02-lb/gal (specific gravity 1.20), respectively. Results suggest that a high-density and solid-free novel magnesium bromide-based completion fluid show suitable optimum rheology avoid formation damage, plugging, and eroding of tubular and completion equipment. In this study, we have investigated the rheological properties such as apparent viscosity, plastic viscosity, yield point, and gel strength 10 sec and 10 min of formulated completion fluid at the varying temperature of 84 °F (28.8 °C) to 192 °F (88.8 °C). We have found that magnesium bromide-based completion fluid shows lower apparent viscosity and plastic viscosity as compared to calcium chloride-based completion fluid. Steel cords are a reinforcing phase of the rubber-steel-canvas composite, and their properties, including strength, depend on the quality of the wires. The novelty of the work is a multi-parameter analysis of the cord production process, which showed that there is a relationship between the rheological properties of the lubricating emulsion, the friction conditions and deformation of the brass coating, and the properties of the wires and their resistance to cracking when braiding into a steel cord. It was shown that the friction conditions depend on the wire temperature and the rheological properties of the emulsion. As the drawing speed increases, the emulsion viscosity improves. The grease reaches its optimum at a specific drawing speed depending on the type of emulsion and the type of wire. Further increases in drawing speed result in an increase in temperature at the material/tool interface. This leads to a decrease in the viscosity of the emulsion and the breakdown of the lubricant film in the contact zone. Inappropriate selection of wet drawing speed contributes to a decrease in plastic properties and a reduction in the number of twists and bends of the wire, which leads not only to wire breakage at the stage of cord braiding but also to its premature breaking during the tensile test. 3D concrete printing (3DCP) has developed rapidly in recent years, with a relatively high amount of mortars emerging apt for 3D printing. Some of these mortars include fibers to improve their strength. Despite mechanical properties having been quite well studied, there still is missing information on cost, printability, and environmental impacts. The objective of this research is to select the best mortars with fibers considering four criteria: printability, mechanical strength, and economic and environmental impact applying a multi-criteria decision-making analysis (MCDMA). Seven types of fibers with different dosages were assessed in the reinforced mortars: zylon, aramid, carbon, glass, cellulose, textile, and polypropylene. AHP method and equal weights were used as ponderation techniques of the criteria while WASPAS and TOPSIS methods were used to calculate the rankings of the MCDMA. Printability was measured through rheological tests using a rotational rheometer, mechanical strength through flexural tests at 28 days based on EN 196–1, and cost just considering the materials and environmental impact through a life cycle assessment (LCA). The results showed that 13-mm-long glass fibers with a content of 0.1% were the best alternative, closely followed by the mortar with 6 mm cellulose fibers with a content of 0.05%. For the best option (G13;0.1), the increments in the printability index, flexural strength, cost, and LCA were − 14.37%, 16.70%, 5.88%, and 2.86%, respectively. It can also be concluded that high elastic modulus fibers (zylon and aramid), although able to increase significantly the flexural strength (up to 30% in the case of zylon), prevent them from being an optimal solution due to their high cost. Establishing a physical barrier between the peritoneum and the cecum is an effective method to reduce the risk of postoperative abdominal adhesions. Meloxicam (MX), a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug has also been applied to prevent postoperative adhesions. However, its poor water solubility has led to low bioavailability. Herein, we developed an injectable hydrogel as a barrier and drug carrier for simultaneous postoperative adhesion prevention and treatment. A third-generation polyamide-amine dendrimer (G3) was exploited to dynamically combine with MX to increase the solubility and the bioavailability. The formed G3@MX was further used to crosslink with poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA) to prepare a hydrogel (GP@MX hydrogel) through the amide bonding. In vitro and in vivo experiments evidenced that the hydrogel had good biosafety and biodegradability. More importantly, the prepared hydrogel could control the release of MX, and the released MX is able to inhibit inflammatory responses and balance the fibrinolytic system in the injury tissues in vivo. Direct ink writing (DIW), or robocasting, is emerging as a key additive manufacturing technique for ceramic materials. Nevertheless, controlling ink rheology, finding optimal ink properties for printability, and optimising final mechanical performance have consistently posed major challenges. This review addresses these critical aspects of ceramic DIW through a meta-analysis. It encompasses rheological data from various ceramic inks and reviews methods for tuning ink properties to improve printability. The collected rheological properties are integrated into various printability criteria and models, leading to the proposal of an empirical criterion based on two key rheological parameters. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of both dense and porous ceramic components are discussed, revealing their correlations with rheology and processing defects. The objective of this comprehensive work is to serve as a valuable toolkit and guideline, providing researchers with the necessary insights to develop superior ink formulations and enhance the mechanical performance of robocasted ceramic components. Muffins are a popular pastry product around the world, but due to their high sucrose content, they are high in calories. To meet customer demand for muffins with less sugar content, in this research, sugar was replaced with apple puree in different percentages (0–100%). For replacement levels between 0 and 50%, the physical, textural, and rheological properties did not show significant changes compared to the control sample. Higher levels of replacement (50–100%) led to changes in some quality attributes: specific gravity and loss on ripening increased significantly, height and volume decreased significantly (from 49.66 ± 0.02 to 43.36 ± 0.12, respectively, and from 60.00 ± 0.04 to 51.00 ± 0.05), springiness decreased (from 0.689 ± 0.01 to 0.504 ± 0.00), and cohesiveness did not show significant differences. The results obtained suggest that successful reduction in sucrose in muffins is possible by using apple puree at replacement levels of up to 50%, thus maintaining a similar textural quality to muffins with sugar. In the present experiment, two types of water-reducing agents, naphthalene (FDN) and polycarboxylic acid (PCE), were selected, and their effects on the mechanical properties of foamed phosphogypsum were evaluated. It was shown that when the water-reducing agent contents were increased, the strength of the foamed phosphogypsum first increased and then gradually decreased, and that the dry density of the foamed phosphogypsum first decreased and then gradually increased. The FDN samples had better mechanical properties and a lower dry density than the PCE samples. The effect of the water-reducing agent dose on the apparent viscosity and shear stress of the phosphogypsum slurries was in the order of 0% > 0.4% > 0.3% > 0.5% > 0.2% > 0.1%. The apparent viscosity and shear stress of the gypsum slurry mixed with 0.4% FDN or PCE were the highest. FDN and PCE both enlarged the pore size distribution range, increased the size and proportion of large pores, and decreased the total pore content of foamed phosphogypsum; however, the effect of PCE was more significant. The foamed phosphogypsum slurry mixed with 0.4% FDN had the highest total pore content. Among the samples, the total pore content of foamed phosphogypsum A was able to reach 91% and the total pore content of foamed phosphogypsum B reached 77%; the lowest proportion of large pores for foamed phosphogypsum A and B separately reached 17% and 7%, respectively. The water-reducing agents mainly reduced the water consumption of the phosphogypsum slurries; improved the viscosity and shear stress of the slurries; affected the stability of the foam in the gypsum slurries; influenced the pore size and distribution in the foamed phosphogypsum samples; and caused a difference in the strength and dry density of the foamed phosphogypsum samples. In recent years, there has been a significant focus on enhancing the overall quality of gluten-free breads by incorporating natural and healthy compounds to meet consumer expectations regarding texture, flavor, and nutritional value. Considering the high glycemic index associated with gluten-free products, the use of honey, renowned for its numerous health benefits, may serve as an optimal alternative to sucrose. This study investigates the impact of substituting sucrose, either partially (50%) or entirely (100%), with five Sardinian honeys (commercial multifloral honey, cardoon, eucalyptus, and strawberry tree unifloral honeys, and eucalyptus honeydew honey), on the rheological properties of the doughs and the physico-chemical and technological properties of the resulting gluten-free breads. The results demonstrated that an optimal balance was achieved between the leavening and viscoelastic properties of the doughs and the physical and textural attributes of the resulting breads in gluten-free samples prepared with a partial substitution of cardoon and multifloral honeys. Conversely, the least favorable outcomes were observed in samples prepared with strawberry tree honey and eucalyptus honeydew honey at both substitution levels. Therefore, the different behavior observed among all honey-enriched gluten-free breads was likely attributable to the distinct botanical origins of honey rather than to the substitution percentages employed. The incorporation of okara, a by-product of soybean milk production, into gluten-free products such as crispy waffles poses challenges due to the absence of gluten's viscoelastic properties and the high fiber content of okara. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of okara flour on the rheological properties, physical attributes, and sensory qualities of gluten-free waffles. Waffle batters with varying levels of okara flour (10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%) were prepared, and their rheological properties were analyzed using oscillatory shear and creep-recovery tests. Physical properties, proximate composition, cholesterol and glucose adsorption capacities, storage stability, and sensory attributes were also assessed. The results demonstrated that increasing okara flour content improved batter elasticity and viscosity (with complex viscosity reaching up to 10,923 Pa·s for 40% okara flour) but decreased spread ratio by up to 45% and increased moisture content by approximately 2.7%. Higher okara content also led to a 16% decrease in brightness (L*) and increased hardness, reaching 325.26 g/s at 40% substitution. Sensory evaluation revealed that waffles with 30% okara flour were preferred for their texture and overall liking, with a score of 7.43 compared to higher substitution levels. Cholesterol and glucose adsorption capacities were high in okara flour, contributing to potential health benefits. Storage stability tests showed acceptable moisture content, water activity, and microbiological safety over 60 days, though hardness decreased by about 42%. In conclusion, okara flour enhances the nutritional profile of gluten-free waffles, but its impact on texture and flavor requires careful formulation adjustments to optimize consumer acceptance. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of producing electrospun fibers by combining polysaccharides, zein, and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) to simulate the fibers applied in plant-based meat analogs. The rheological properties of biopolymer solutions were evaluated, and the electrospun fibers were characterized according to their morphology, structural interactions, and thermal analysis. The results indicated that the fibers prepared in a ratio of 90:10 of zein/carrageenan from the mixture of a solution containing 23 wt.% of zein with a solution containing 1 wt.% of carrageenan and with the addition of 1 wt.% of PEO presented a promising structure for application as fibers in meat analogs because they have a more hydrophilic surface. Thus, they have good moisture retention. In addition, they have good thermal stability at high temperatures, which is crucial to achieve a consistent and pleasant texture. Properties of modified starch are of great interest to the bakery industry. Moreover, corn germ incorporation in bread has multiple health benefits. The aim of this study was the formulation of Brotchen bread with corn germ flour (0, 10, 20, and 30% w/w) and modified corn starch (0, 10, 20, and 30% w/w). The effect of heat‐moisture treatment (HMT) and pregelatinization (PG) of starch was investigated on the rheological and physicochemical properties of bread. The addition of corn germ flour and modified starch increased some farinograph properties, i.e., water absorption, consistency, and dough development time, and decreased dough stability. The degree of softening of the dough increased after 12 min after supplementation. The farinograph quality number in the dough containing HMT was the highest value. By replacing corn germ flour and modified starch, extensograph parameters such as dough resistance were strengthened and dough extensibility was weakened. Also, the energy of the dough increased. The highest fat, protein, fiber, and moisture content was observed in the treatment containing 30% corn germ flour and HMT starch (HMT3). Also, the HMT3 treatment had the highest specific volume and porosity and the lowest weight loss and hardness (p < 0.05). Regarding the color parameters, HMT3 treatment showed the highest lightness (L∗) and the lowest yellowness (b∗). Enriched bread by corn germ had more iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus compared to wheat bread. Regarding overall acceptability, no significant difference was observed between treated and untreated bread (p > 0.05). Therefore, the corn germ flour and modified starch in the formulation of bread improved the functional and nutritional properties of bread and can be used in the bread formulation especially at a concentration of 30%. This study examines the influence of different grain size fractions of coal fly ash on the properties of clay-cement mortars used in flood levee construction. Dry aerodynamic separation and mesh sieving were used to obtain ultrafine, fine, and medium fractions of high-calcium and silica fly ash. The experimental results reveal that the rheological properties of fresh mortars are significantly influenced by these fractions. High-calcium fly ash mortars exhibit high reactivity and rapid increase in viscosity, with finer fractions showing the highest reactivity. Silica ashes show increased reactivity in the later stages of suspension hardening. Their spherical shape contributes to reducing internal friction during flow in initial technological operations. Furthermore, the compressive strength of hardened mortars improves as the particle size decreases for both ashes, resulting in a dense and uniform microstructure. The separation and fractionation of fly ashes contribute to the obtaining of fractions that influence the parameters of clay-cement suspension application on different scales. Epoxy blends of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and 2‐[2‐(dimethylamino) ethoxy] ethanol (DMAEE) were prepared. The effect of DMAEE concentration on the rheological properties of the epoxy blends were investigated through oscillatory rheometry under isothermal conditions. A novel technique was developed to study the rheological behavior of the epoxy blends by using a Rubber Process Analyzer (RPA). The rheological study enabled analyzing the variations in the storage modulus (G'), loss modulus (G") and torque during the progress of the curing reaction. Additionally, the theoretical cross‐linking density (νe) and the degree of conversión of the curing reaction (α). The gel time (tgel) was determined at different temperatures, and the activation energy (Ea) was calculated by using Arrhenius‐type equation based on the gel time results. The activation energy values found are 24.79 kJ/mol and 23.01 kJ/mol. The results obtained are consistent with the values described in the literature. It was demonstrated that the proposed methodology is valid and, the use of the tertiary amine DMAEE curing agent for epoxy resins was confirmed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A collection of large data sets from different orogenic belts was compiled for a correlation between organic matter (OM) versus clay mineral (CM) indices calibrated with the vitrinite reflectance, (VR) vs Kübler-Indices (KI) method. Data selection was based on a normal geothermal gradient (25 to 35 °C/km) as determined in previous studies, e.g. by maturity modelling and clay mineral reaction progress calculations. In the Lower Austroalpine (Eastern Switzerland, European Alps) a 20 myr lasting metamorphic overprint caused an OM–CM thermal equilibrium among the indices used. The observed correlation enables to determine gradual changes in metamorphic factors such as pressure, temperature and time causing sensitive shifts of the gradient slope in the range of normal gradients. For New Caledonia, an identical correlation has been determined. Prior to re-equilibration of the VR/KI indices, sediments in New Caledonia of diagenetic to incipient metamorphic grade underwent a high-pressure subduction event. VR/KI indices are in or close to equilibrium, while slight differences in OM vs CM indices allow for a better understanding of polyphase conditions, especially with respect to pressure. Temperature estimations are identical despite of their poly-phase metamorphic history, which was mainly controlled by the last orogenic thermal event lasting > 5 to < 10 myr. In the eastern Helvetic Alps and Northern Calcareous Alps similar correlations were found with slightly different slopes. Comparison between different regions is possible when using KI standardization and same data discrimination. In both parts of the Alps a complex thermal history of short durations (< 5.0 myr for the Northern Calcareous Alps to 10 myr for the Helvetic Alps) caused similar VR/KI trends, but disequilibrium is suggested by weaker regression parameters. The following correlation is calculated for a moderate geotherm (55 to 74 mWm2, mean = 61 mWm2) and normal temperature gradient conditions (25 to 35 °Ckm−1): KI = 1.134e−0.305VR, (R2 = 0.880, n = 462) with VR given as %Rmax, KI as Δ°2θ (limited to values between 0.2 to 1.0 Δ°2θ). With increasing depth (z) a VR gradient of 1.4 ± 0.2%Rmaxkm−1 is determined and a KI gradient of 0.09 ± 0.002 Δ°2θ km−1 is observed. The study illustrates that a normal geotherm can be described by VR/KI correlation, even if different heating episodes may occur. For the detection of a poly-phase or plurifacial thermal history, several indices of clay minerals and organic matter with very different kinetics should be used, as e.g. demonstrated by strong differences in smectite content at equal VR/KI values versus structural depth. A specific interest is given to the correlation of vitrinite like solid bitumen reflectance as an alternative method to VR, the persistent preservation of liptinite macerals and the stability range of clay minerals and sub-greenschist facies critical minerals compared with VR/KI data. Direct ink writing is especially relevant to the biomedical field due to the customizable extrusion and the possibility of creating pre‐designed architectures. Abundant natural polymers are sustainable and biocompatible alternatives to synthetic and persistent polymers. The printing of pure nanocellulose suspensions proves difficult due to low solid loadings, high shrinkage, as well as non‐fitting rheology. Emulsion gels (emulgel) alternatives gain attention in the field owing to their favorable viscoelastic properties and the possibility of creating multiphase systems. The authors’ sulfur‐free cationic cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) of low degree of substitution enable straightforward deployment in Pickering emulsions. An emulgel ink co‐stabilized by cationic CNC and α‐cyclodextrin is introduced as an interfacial inclusion complex. All ink components are natural and biodegradable compounds. The produced emulgel inks allow for high fidelity printing and minimum shrinkage upon drying that relaxes the need for supports, even in complex overhanging structures. A low yield stress (230–270 Pa) facilitates the inclusion of cells for biomedical applications into the formulation. The emulgel can be tuned to the desired rheological properties and be equipped with both polar and apolar compounds due to the biphasic system, making it a promising platform for biocompatible additive manufacturing. This study examines the morphology and various thermal, mechanical, and rheological properties of polylactic acid (PLA)-based nanobiocomposites. The objective of this investigation is to evaluate the potential of modified Algerian clay as a nanofiller through an examination of the characteristics of PLA/Mag-CTA and PLA/CMC nanobiocomposites with varying levels of prepared fillers. This study is concerned with the synthesis of poly(lactic acid)/Maghnite-CTA (PLA/Mag-CTA) and poly(lactic acid)/microcrystalline cellulose (CMC) nanobiocomposites, with two distinctive catalysts and organic reinforcements produced in solution. The outcomes of the various techniques employed demonstrate that PLA nanobiocomposites exhibit a mixed morphology, comprising intercalation and exfoliation. The results from the diverse techniques used show that the PLA nanobiocomposites developed have a mixed intercalated-exfoliated morphology. The dispersion of the Maghnite-CTA filler and microcrystalline cellulose was enhanced during the production of the various materials, as well as the presence of aggregates at high levels. The best rheological performance, corresponding to the optimal dispersion of the nanofiller, was observed for a low quantity of organic filler. Thermal behavior properties were significantly enhanced with the incorporation of the two nanofillers. Analysis by steric exclusion chromatography showed that the fillers used in the nanobiocomposite synthesis increased the average molecular weights of the PLA chains, while the polydispersity index remained constant. Colloidal polymers, and in particular aqueous polymer dispersions, are widely used in commercial applications such as coatings and adhesives. Historically, the solvent resistance and mechanical properties of these systems have been improved by covalently crosslinking the polymer chains after drying. More recently, work has been directed toward replacing this covalent crosslinking, which typically involves highly reactive functional groups, by physical crosslinking through the use of supramolecular interactions. While conceptually similar to the use of covalent crosslinking, physical crosslinking has a unique influence on the rheology of the polymer, which leads to substantial differences in the development of mechanical strength during drying, as well as the mechanical properties of the final polymer film. Naturally occurring gas hydrates are established as an abundant reserve of natural gas. Production initiatives raised challenges such as low production rate, freezing problems, water, and sand production along with geomechanical concerns. Recent studies suggest that fracturing the sediment can significantly improve the conductivity and productivity of such reserves. This study is an initiative to verify the suitability of conventionally used polymer (guar) for fracturing at extremely low temperatures along with the integration of widely available gas hydrate inhibitors for efficient stimulation. Established inhibitors such as NaCl, CaCl 2 and KCl were introduced to linear and crosslinked gels to study their compatibility with the reference guar-based gels. The inhibitor integrated linear gel samples demonstrated similar performance trends to that of the reference gel establishing their compatibility with the polymer, whereas the inhibitor integrated crosslinked samples displayed deswelling nature. The low concentration inhibitor integrated linear gel samples performed superior to the reference gel whereas the high concentration sample inhibited the swelling performance of the polymer. Both the reference and inhibitor integrated linear gel samples gradually disintegrated after 48 h leaving behind soft cloudy residue, whereas the inhibitor integrated crosslinked samples rapidly released water and contracted into a solid residue which can cause serious flow related disruptions during operations and apparently damage the conductivity of the sediment for long term. We propose an innovative containment strategy based on time-dependent soft solids, namely 2 wt% Laponite suspensions, to reinforce natural subsurface seals and engineer flow barriers, with an eye toward making H 2 subsurface storage scalable and geographically agnostic. This suspension can be injected at its initial low viscosity and elasticity into a porous medium, allowing for easy pumping and targeted delivery. Once inside the target zone, it matures into a soft solid with much higher viscosity and elasticity, acting as a potential flow barrier. We discuss the rheological properties of the suspensions and demonstrate that hydrogen does not adversely affect their microstructure, but rather increases the suspensions' viscosity and elasticity. Moreover, the suspensions enhance the rock samples' compressive strength, while hydrogen exposure increases their stiffness and ductility. The ability of rock samples saturated with the suspensions to contain higher injected gas pressures is enhanced by aging at higher temperatures. During the last decades, the interest in the development of materials fully or partially biobased has increased. Polyurethanes are extensively used in a wide range of industries because of their versatility. The present work explores the synthesis of partially biobased poly(urethane‐urea) (PUU) composites employing soy‐based polyol (SPO) and cellulose nanocrystals (CNC). The latter were incorporated during the synthesis (in‐situ) or after the synthesis (ex‐situ). The possibility of a technological application as coatings was investigated for the designed materials. Polycaprolactone diol was used as a soft segment due to high functionality of the soy‐based polyol. The physicochemical, thermal and mechanical properties of the prepared matrices were analyzed. Poly(urethane‐urea)s containing up to 20% by weight of biobased polyol showed coating application potentiality. Compared to a polycaprolactone‐based polyurethane, the utilization of the bioprecursor enhanced light absorption in the UV–Vis region. In addition, partially biobased systems showed better mechanical resistance (Young's modulus increased up to 6 times) and hydrophobicity (sweeling decreased from 60 to 8 per cent by weight). Incorporation of cellulose nanocrystals affected primarily the physicochemical and rheological properties of dispersions. Regarding coating properties, nanocrystals utilization complemented the soy‐based polyol improving the performance of the films. Furthermore, the incorporation route affected the dispersions and films properties. AbstractIn this study, the compatibility of polycarboxylate-based water-reducing admixtures (PCEs) with cementitious systems containing fly ash (FA) was investigated. For this purpose, PCEs with carboxylate, phosphate, and sulfonate anionic groups having different anionic charge densities were synthesized. The effects of PCEs on fresh properties and compressive strength of cementitious systems containing FA were investigated. The PCE with 9% phosphate substitution and high anionic charge density was found to be the most effective, requiring the least amount for the target flow. Similarly, in terms of the PCE requirement for the minimum Marsh funnel flow time and rheological parameters, the best performance was obtained with 5% sulfonate substituted PCE having high anionic charge density. While FA had a positive effect on the PCE requirement and consistency retention of the mixtures; it had a negative effect on Marsh funnel flow time, rheological properties, and compressive strength. However, the rheological properties of the mortar mixtures were not adversely affected by the FA substitution as much as that of the paste mixtures. Regarding the 28-day compressive strength of mortar mixtures, the optimum FA substitution ratio was 15%. Fly ash substitution above this level reduced the compressive strength at all ages including 28-day strength. ABSTRACT Glaciers host a variety of cold‐adapted taxa, many of which have not yet been described. Interactions among glacier organisms are even less clear. Understanding ecological interactions is crucial to unravelling the functioning of glacier ecosystems, particularly in light of current glacier retreat. Through a review of the existing literature, we aim to provide a first overview of the biodiversity, primary production, trophic networks, and matter flow of a glacier ecosystem. We use the Forni Glacier (Central Italian Alps) – one of the best studied alpine glaciers in the world – as a model system for our literature review and integrate additional original data. We reveal the importance of allochthonous organic matter inputs, of Cyanobacteria and eukaryotic green algae in primary production, and the key role of springtails (Vertagopus glacialis) on the glacier surface in sustaining populations of two apex terrestrial predators: Nebria castanea (Coleoptera: Carabidae) and Pardosa saturatior (Araneae: Lycosidae). The cryophilic tardigrade Cryobiotus klebelsbergi is the apex consumer in cryoconite holes. This short food web highlights the fragility of nodes represented by invertebrates, contrasting with structured microbial communities in all glacier habitats. Although further research is necessary to quantify the ecological interactions of glacier organisms, this review summarises and integrates existing knowledge about the ecological processes on alpine glaciers and supports the importance of glacier‐adapted organisms in providing ecosystem services. This study introduces a rheological equivalent circuit model inspired by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to analyze complex viscosity data. By exploiting the similarity between the Cole–Cole plot in rheology and the Nyquist plot in EIS, the study adopts circuit fitting methodologies to interpret rheological behavior of various polymers. The model employs redefined electrochemical elements, including dashpots, springs, rheological constant phase elements, and Warburg elements, to capture both linear and non‐linear responses. Electroactive scaffolds are increasingly used to mimic the microenvironment of electroactive tissues such as the heart and nerves. Multi-network hydrogels have emerged as an important platform in the field of tissue engineering. In this study, alginate (Alg)-based conductive and multi-network nanocomposite hydrogels were prepared and characterized as promising scaffolds for electroactive tissues. Alg, which is derived from natural sources, was modified with methacrylate (AlgMA) to render it photosensitive (photoactive). Multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were chosen as potential nanomaterials for electrical conductivity. MWCNTs were modified with –COOH groups to produce MWCNT–COOH nanomaterials. Nanocomposite hydrogels were fabricated by incorporating 0.5%, 1.0%, and 3.0 wt% of MWCNT–COOH into the AlgMA network. The hydrogel scaffolds were assessed for their chemical, physical, mechanical, electrical, and biological characteristics. This study demonstrated that incorporating modified MWCNTs into an AlgMA network enhances its electrical activity. According to our results, good rheological properties, natural tissue-like mechanical properties, optimal electrical conductivity, and biological performance make AlgMA/MWCNT–COOH multi-network nanocomposite hydrogels crucial in the field of electroactive tissues. Shear‐thickening fluids (STFs) undergo significant transformation under shear, transitioning from liquid‐like to solid‐like states, opening up diverse applications. This review comprehensively analyzes recent advances in nanoparticle‐reinforced STFs and highlights their improved rheological and mechanical properties. We explore various STF types, including colloidal suspensions and polymer‐based systems, and investigate the underlying shear‐thickening mechanisms such as order‐disorder, hydrocluster, and contact rheology theories. Nanoparticle reinforcement significantly improves STF performance. In our review, nanoparticle types, incorporation methods, and their effects on STF behavior are systematically investigated. Key results demonstrate significant improvements in stiffness, toughness, thermal stability, and chemical resistance, which are critical for practical applications in protection and smart body armor, biomedical devices, industrial equipment, battery reinforcement, and explosion protection functions, as well as vibration dampening and shock absorption. To address the associated challenges, we propose future research directions to fully exploit nanoparticle‐enhanced STFs and provide important insights for researchers and practitioners in this dynamic area.
