Abstract: Complex plasmas are low temperature plasmas that contain microparticles in addition to ions, electrons, and neutral particles. The microparticles acquire high charges, interact with each other and can be considered as model particles for effects in classical condensed matter systems, such as crystallization and fluid dynamics. In contrast to atoms in ordinary systems, their movement can be traced on the most basic level, that of individual particles. In order to avoid disturbances caused by gravity, experiments on complex plasmas are often performed under microgravity conditions. The PK-3 Plus Laboratory was operated on board the International Space Station from 2006 - 2013. Its heart consisted of a capacitively coupled radio-frequency plasma chamber. Microparticles were inserted into the low-temperature plasma, forming large, homogeneous complex plasma clouds. Here, we review the results obtained with recent analyses of PK-3 Plus data: We study the formation of crystallization fronts, as well as the microparticle motion in, and structure of crystalline complex plasmas. We investigate fluid effects such as wave transmission across an interface, and the development of the energy spectra during the onset of turbulent microparticle movement. We explore how abnormal particles move through, and how macroscopic spheres interact with the microparticle cloud. These examples demonstrate the versatility of the PK-3 Plus Laboratory.

202. Experiment and theoretical insights into CuNi/CoMoO4 multi-functional catalyst with laccase-like: Catalysis mechanism, smartphone biosensing and organic pollutant efficient degradation

Abstract: In this work, CuNi/CoMoO4 nanozyme was synthesized the hydrothermal method, followed by calcination and impregnation techniques, which had laccase-like activity and could be used as peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activator. Thus, the total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of commercial beverage measurement and phenolic pollutants degradation were studied systematically. Besides, the portable smartphone platform integrated with an intelligence analysis APP and colorimetric signals was further established for on-site determination of epinephrine (a typical phenol). Simultaneously, as PMS activator, CuNi/CoMoO4 could activate PMS to yield ·OH and SO4·−, which was applied for organic pollutants (acid fuchsin, AF) degradation, and the degradation efficiency could reach up to 99.45% within 40 min. The results displayed that CuNi/CoMoO4 had practical value in anti-oxidant food quality evaluation and pollution degradation. Furthermore, the theoretical calculation revealed that the activation energy of the rate-determining step over Cu/CoMoO4 was decreased from 0.819 eV to 0.524 eV due to the enhanced interaction between Cu(I) of CuNi/CoMoO4 and 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP). It not only provided a multifunctional catalyst for evaluating oxidative capacity in food quality and pollutant degradation, but also provided some new evidences for further study of laccase-like mechanism.

203. Response of peat-rich permafrost to a warming climate on the northeast Tibetan Plateau

Abstract: Permafrost degradation leads to the release of organic carbon to the atmosphere, and in turn, affects climate change. The amount of organic carbon released to the atmosphere depends on the thawing rate of peat-rich permafrost. However, the exact mechanism of peat-rich permafrost thawing is still unclear. Here we choose two locations on the northeast Tibetan Plateau: the peat-rich EBoTA (“peatland”) site, and the mineral-rich PT5 (“mineral”) site. We use the Geophysical Institute Permafrost Laboratory model to reveal the response of permafrost to warming climate from 1850 to 2100 applying different shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs). Monthly soil temperature increased during the historical and future periods at both sites, but a slower trend is evident at the peatland site relative to the mineral site. Seasonally, the warming trend is faster in winter than that in summer at both sites. Active layer deepening at the mineral site is 3–12 times that of the peatland site. In addition, permafrost will persist until 2100 in all but one of the SSPs at the peatland site. At the mineral site, all permafrost will degrade to seasonally frozen ground, with only taliks remaining for all future scenarios. These changes indicated a slower response of peat-rich permafrost to climate change, due to peat's low thermal conductivity and high soil moisture. These results could be useful in permafrost carbon studies.

Abstract: A natural cellulose-degrading consortium is able to efficiently convert various types of lignocellulose to organic products, which is considered a potential method for the production of biofuels and biochemicals from lignocellulose materials. Metagenomics is an efficient method for determining the complex microbiota structure and performing metabolic mechanism analysis. However, natural cellulose-degrading consortia not only have complicated microbiome compositions and metabolites but also have tight adsorption between cells and cellulose fibers, which could have a significant influence on metagenomic DNA extraction, leading to a reduction of the DNA concentration, integrity, and diversity. Here, we found that bacterial cells that bind to cellulose fibers were efficiently washed off by a high-salt solution treatment and that the wall-breaking ratios of the biological enzyme and mechanical homogenization method were significantly higher than those of grinding and the freeze-thaw method. These results helped to establish a new method for extraction of the consortia metagenome that efficiently decreased absorption between cells and cellulose fibers, reduced the adverse impact of metabolites on DNA extraction, and improved the quality of DNA extraction.

Abstract: Gibberellins (GAs) participate in controlling various aspects of basic plant growth responses. With the exception of bryophytes, GA signalling in land plants, such as lycophytes, ferns and angiosperms, is mediated via GIBBERELLIN-INSENSITIVE DWARF1 (GID1) and DELLA proteins. To explore whether this GID1-DELLA mechanism is present in pines, we cloned an orthologue (PtGID1) of Arabidopsis AtGID1a and two putative DELLA proteins (PtDPL; PtRGA) from Pinus tabuliformis, a widespread indigenous conifer species in China, and studied their recombinant proteins. PtGID1 shares with AtGID1a the conserved HSL motifs for GA binding and an N-terminal feature that are essential for interaction with DELLA proteins. Indeed, A. thaliana 35S:PtGID1 overexpressors showed a strong GA-hypersensitive phenotype compared to the wild type. Interactions between PtGID1 and PtDELLAs, but also interactions between the conifer-angiosperm counterparts (i.e. between AtGID1 and PtDELLAs and between PtGID1 and AtDELLA), were detected in vivo. This demonstrates that pine has functional GID1-DELLA components. The Δ17-domains within PtDPL and PtRGA were identified as potential interaction sites within PtDELLAs. Our results show that PtGID1 has the ability to interact with DELLA and functions as a GA receptor. Thus, a GA-GID1-DELLA signalling module also operates in evolutionarily ancient conifers.

Abstract: The migratory insertion of isonitriles into metal C bonds is a potentially important method for the formation of C C bonds in organic and pharmaceutical syntheses. In this context, the reaction mechanism of Cp * (pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)(Cl)Zr(diene) with isonitriles was studied using density functional theory calculations. Zr imido complexes and α-methylene cyclopentenimines are the confirmed products for N-t Bu-, N -2,6-diMePh-, and N -1-adamantyl-substituted isonitriles, whereas six-membered zirconacycles are the thermodynamically favored products for Me- and Et-substituted isonitriles. The β-H elimination pathway is responsible for the formation of α-methylene cyclopentenimines and zirconacycles. The kinetically favored products for MeNC and EtNC are diazazirconacyclopentanes ( σ complexes), which are formed via an isomerization pathway. The effects of substituents on the isonitrile nitrogen atom in the main elementary reactions are also discussed.

Abstract: Synthetic rock crystals often show a typical infrared (IR) absorption band at 3585 cm−1. However, the authors recently found this band in a natural rock crystal with blue coating. The origin of this IR band is controversial as yet. In this paper, the infrared spectra of several natural and synthetic rock crystal samples which were heated to 673 K and 1073 K were measured after these samples returned to room temperature. Comparing the infrared spectra of samples before and after heating, we found the absorption band at 3585 cm−1 was induced by the thermal process, which indicates that this band cannot be used as diagnostic evidence for synthetic rock crystal alone. In addition, the LiOH bands decreased while AlOH bands increased upon thermal processing. And the negative correlation between the LiOH bands and the 3585 cm−1 band was also distinct. The above results reveal that the thermal process destroyed the LiOH defects, leading to the formation of a new AlLi defect. And the isolated OH− defect inside dislocations generated upon thermal processing is considered to be the exact cause of the 3585 cm−1 band.

Abstract: Pasteurella multocida is a zoonotic pathogen causing serious diseases in humans and animals. Here, we report P. multocida from wildlife on China's Qinghai-Tibet plateau with a novel capsular serotype, forming a single branch on the core-genome phylogenetic tree: four strains isolated from dead Himalayan marmot (Marmota himalayana) and one genome assembled from metagenomic sequencing of a dead Woolly hare (Lepus oiostolus). Four of the strains were identified as subspecies multocida and one was septica. The mouse model showed that the challenge strain killed mice within 24 h at an infectious dose of less than 300 bacteria. The short disease course is comparable to septicemic plague: the host has died before more severe pathological changes could take place. 211. Sex differences in the association between sleep duration and muscle quality index in adults: A cross-sectional study from NHANES 2011-2014.

Abstract: ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to investigate the association between sleep duration and muscle quality index (MQI) in middle-aged and older age groups, as limited evidence exists on this topic.MethodsIn order to assess the relationship between sleep duration and MQI, a cross-sectional study was undertaken, utilizing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) acquired during the period from 2011 to 2014. The study comprised a total of 4598 participants aged 20 years and above. To examine the association between sleep duration and MQI, sophisticated weighted multivariate linear regression models were employed. Additionally, smooth curve fitting techniques were applied to examine the possibility of any non-linear relationship between the two variables.ResultsThe average age of the adults who were enrolled in the study was 38.48±11.69 years, and 46.75% of them were female. The results of the multivariable linear regression models showed that sleep duration had a positive correlation with MQI. However, when subgroup analysis was conducted, it was found that this positive correlation only existed among women (β = 0.09, 95% CI: 0.014 to 0.167). To further confirm the differences between sexes in the relationship between sleep duration and MQI, a weighted generalized additive model (GAM) was used.ConclusionsThis research study provides evidence that there is a positive correlation between the duration of sleep and MQI specifically in females, while no such association was observed in males. These findings shed light on the existence of gender disparities in the connection between sleep duration and MQI.

212. Barriers and Implications of 5G Technology Adoption for Hospitals in Western China: Integrated Interpretive Structural Modeling and Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory Analysis

Abstract: Background5G technology is gaining traction in Chinese hospitals for its potential to enhance patient care and internal management. However, various barriers hinder its implementation in clinical settings, and studies on their relevance and importance are scarce. ObjectiveThis study aimed to identify critical barriers hampering the effective implementation of 5G in hospitals in Western China, to identify interaction relationships and priorities of the above-identified barriers, and to assess the intensity of the relationships and cause-and-effect relations between the adoption barriers. MethodsThis paper uses the Delphi expert consultation method to determine key barriers to 5G adoption in Western China hospitals, the interpretive structural modeling to uncover interaction relationships and priorities, and the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory method to reveal cause-and-effect relationships and their intensity levels. ResultsIn total, 14 barriers were determined by literature review and the Delphi method. Among these, “lack of policies on ethics, rights, and responsibilities in core health care scenarios” emerged as the fundamental influencing factor in the entire system, as it was the only factor at the bottom level of the interpretive structural model. Overall, 8 barriers were classified as the “cause group,” and 6 as the “effect group” by the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory method. “High expense” and “organizational barriers within hospitals” were determined as the most significant driving barrier (the highest R–C value of 1.361) and the most critical barrier (the highest R+C value of 4.317), respectively. ConclusionsPromoting the integration of 5G in hospitals in Western China faces multiple complex and interrelated barriers. The study provides valuable quantitative evidence and a comprehensive approach for regulatory authorities, hospitals, and telecom operators, helping them develop strategic pathways for promoting widespread 5G adoption in health care. It is suggested that the stakeholders cooperate to explore and solve the problems in the 5G medical care era, aiming to achieve the coverage of 5G medical care across the country. To our best knowledge, this study is the first academic exploration systematically analyzing factors resisting 5G integration in Chinese hospitals, and it may give subsequent researchers a solid foundation for further studying the application and development of 5G in health care.

Abstract: Abstract Background The objective of the present study was to investigate whether associations exist between inflammatory biomarkers and all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality in women with postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP) or osteopenia. Methods In this retrospective cohort study, data were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey database from the years 2007 to 2010, 2013 to 2014, and 2017 to 2018. The inflammatory biomarkers including neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte/lymphocyte ratio (MLR), neutrophil × platelet/lymphocyte (SII), neutrophil × monocyte/lymphocyte (SIRI), and neutrophil × monocyte × platelet/lymphocyte ratio (AISI) were calculated. Results A total of 2,834 women were included, with a median survival of 113.51 (3.15) months. During follow-up, 602 women died of all-cause mortality and 185 women died of CVD. NLR, MLR, SIRI, and AISI were significantly associated with all-cause mortality in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or osteopenia. NLR, MLR, SIRI, and AISI were related to CVD mortality in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis or osteopenia (All P 25 kg/m2. PLR was associated with all-cause mortality in PMOP or osteopenia women aged ≥ 65 years. Conclusion Inflammatory biomarkers were correlated with mortality risk in the PMOP or osteopenia population. This finding may be helpful for the prognosis management of PMOP or osteopenia in postmenopausal women.

This study aims to investigate whether OM-MSCs are a promising alternative source for treating refractory epilepsy clinically and uncover the mechanism by OM-MSCs administration on an epileptic mouse model. Methods OM-MSCs were isolated from turbinal and characterized by flow cytometry. Autologous human OM-MSCs treatment on a patient was carried out using intrathecal administration. Epileptic mouse model was established by 1 mg/kg scopolamine and 300 mg/kg pilocarpine treatment (intraperitoneal). Stereotaxic microinjection was employed to deliver the mouse OM-MSCs. Mouse electroencephalograph recording was used to investigate the seizures. Brain structure was evaluated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Immunohistochemical and immunofluorescent staining of GFAP, IBA1, MAP2, TUBB3, OLIG2, CD4, CD25, and FOXP3 was carried out to investigate the neural cells and Treg cells. QRT-PCR and ELISA were performed to determine the cytokines (Il1b, Il6, Tnf, Il10) on mRNA and protein level. Y-maze, the object location test, and novel object recognition test were performed to measure the cognitive function. Footprint test, rotarod test, balance beam test, and grip strength test were conducted to evaluate the locomotive function. Von Frey testing was carried out to assess the mechanical allodynia. Results Many beneficial effects of the OM-MSC treatment on disease status, including seizure type, frequency, severity, duration, and cognitive function, and no apparent adverse effects were observed at the 8-year follow-up case. Brain MRI indicated that autologous OM-MSC treatment alleviated brain atrophy in epilepsy patients. A study in an epileptic mouse model revealed that OM-MSC treatment recruited Treg cells to the brain, inhibited inflammation, rebuilt the neural network, and improved the cognitive, locomotive, and perceptive functions of epileptic mice. Conclusions Autologous OM-MSC treatment is efficacious for improving chronic refractory epilepsy, suggesting a future therapeutic candidate for epilepsy. Abstract: The cross section for coherent J/psi photoproduction accompanied by at least one neutron on one side of the interaction point and no neutron activity on the other side, X[n]0[n], is measured with the CMS experiment in ultra-peripheral PbPb collisions at sqrt(s[NN]) = 2.76 TeV. The analysis is based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 159 inverse microbarns, collected during the 2011 PbPb run. The J/psi mesons are reconstructed in the dimuon decay channel, while neutrons are detected using zero degree calorimeters. The measured cross section is dsigma[coh, X[n]0[n]] / dy(J/psi) = 0.36 +/- 0.04 (stat) +/- 0.04 (syst) mb in the rapidity interval 1.8 < abs(y) < 2.3. Using a model for the relative rate of coherent photoproduction processes, this X[z, n, z] measurement gives a total coherent photoproduction cross section of dsigma[coh] / dy(J/psi) = 1.82 +/- 0.22 (stat) +/- 0.20 (syst) +/- 0.19 (theo) mb. The data strongly disfavour the impulse approximation model prediction, indicating that nuclear effects are needed to describe coherent J/psi photoproduction in gamma + Pb interactions. The data are found to be consistent with the leading twist approximation, which includes nuclear gluon shadowing.

Abstract: A novel Pd loaded Ti electrode was prepared with a carbon nanotubes and polypyrrole interlayer modification, referred to as a Pd/CNTs–PPy/Ti electrode. Pretreated CNTs were deposited on the substrate uniformly by electrophoretic deposition technique. Modification by the CNTs–PPy interlayer made the Pd particles smaller and well-distributed. Pulsed-current electrodeposition technique led to more compact Pd particles. The hydrogen adsorption current value increased 55.3% and the electrochemical active surface area (EASA) increased 58.7% compared to the electrode without modification. The prepared Pd/CNTs–PPy/Ti electrode was employed in dechlorination of 2,3-dichlorophenol (2,3-DCP) in aqueous solution. The potential impact factors on the electrocatalytic dechlorination were studied, including dechlorination current, initial pH value of catholyte, reaction temperature and common ions in aqueous solution. Complete dechlorination could be achieved within 70 min under the selected conditions i.e., current of 5 mA, and an initial pH of 2.5 at ambient temperature. The common ions in aqueous solution, such as NO3−, CO32−, HCO3−, Mg2+, K+ and Ca2+, had no obvious effect on the electrocatalytic dechlorination within the scope of this investigation. The prepared Pd/CNTs–PPy/Ti electrode exhibited promising dechlorination potential with higher electrochemical activity.

Abstract: The migratory insertion of isonitriles into the metal–C bond is important for constructing C–C bonds in organic and pharmaceutical syntheses. We examine the reaction of Cp*(Cl)Ti(diene) with isonitriles using density functional theory calculations. At room temperature, the bis-insertion reaction occurs easily for N-tert-butyl (tBu), methyl (Me), ethyl (Et), 2,6-dimethylphenyl (Ar), and N-1-adamantyl (1-Ad)-substituted isonitriles. The elementary reactions include the isomerisation of Cp*(Cl)Ti(diene), migratory insertion of the first isonitrile into a Ti–C bond, C–C reductive elimination, β-H elimination, migratory insertion of the second isonitrile into a Ti–H bond, and C–C reductive coupling. Two reliable fragmentation mechanisms are suggested for the bis-insertion products. For the bulkier tBuNC, ArNC, and 1-AdNC, the β-H elimination reaction pathway is dominant. For the smaller MeNC and EtNC, the γ-H elimination reaction pathway competes with the β-H elimination. For ArNC, the isomerisation reaction pathway to a newly predicted “σ complex” is kinetically favourable.

230. Theoretical design of bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane derivatives for high-energy density compounds with low impact sensitivity

Abstract: For new high-energy density compounds, a series of new bicyclo[2.2.1]heptane derivatives were designed and studied by density functional theory (DFT) method. The heat of formation (HOF) was evaluated by the isodesmic reaction. The densities and the heats of sublimation were predicted by the electrostatic potential analysis at B3PW91/6-31G(d,p) and B3LYP/6-311++G(2df,2p) levels, respectively. The detonation performances were predicted by the Kamlet-Jacobs equations. The bond dissociation energies (BDE) and impact sensitivity that is evaluated by the free space per molecule were also studied to give a better understanding of the stability. Results show that HOFs increase with the increasing number of N atoms. When the number of NO2 groups is larger than 4, HOFs generally increase with the increasing number of NO2 groups. Even though solid-phase HOF is decreasing, detonation energy is always rising with Oxygen Balance (OB) closing to zero-OB, and positive value of OB will largely reduce detonation energy. Detonation velocity and detonation pressure of the designed compounds are in the range of 5.62–9.46 km/s and 11.72–41.44 GPa, respectively. And detonation velocity and detonation pressure always increase with the increasing number of N atoms or NO2 groups except when OB is positive value. BDEs of all designed compounds are larger than 20 kcal/mol shows that all designed compounds have a reasonable thermal stability. The calculated impact sensitivities show that all designed HEDCs have acceptable sensitivity. Especially impact sensitivity of C7, D7, E7, F6 and G6 are expected to be very close to Tetryl (h50 = 25 cm). Considering the thermal stability, impact sensitivity and detonation performance, A8, B8, C7, C8, D7, E7, F6 and G6 might be interesting candidates for use as HEDCs.

Abstract: Preparation of electrocatalysts with high activity and low cost are essential for mass production of hydrogen. However, preparation of such catalyst are still highly challenging thus far. In this paper, we focus on preparation of a three- dimensional CNTs aerogel/MoSx catalyst by using solvothermal process. The MoSx material has been successfully combined with three- dimensional CNTs aerogel and creates a sufficient active site exposure as well as 3D conductive networks for fast charge transport. Due to this the catalyst exhibited high activity for HER with a small onset over potential of ∼150 mV, a Tafel slope of 62 mV dec−1, and an exchange current density of 6.4 mA cm−2. The catalysts also show excellent stability during long-term 1000 cycles and electrolysis confirm the durability of the catalyst. The enhanced performance is attributed to synergistic effects of CNTs aerogel and MoSx, which enhance the activities for both components for HER.

Abstract: Purpose To reveal clinical features of patchy atrophy in pathologic myopia and investigate the status of the Bruch membrane and retinal pigment epithelium by swept-source optical coherence tomography. Methods This study reviewed highly myopic patients who visited the high myopia clinic between January 2015 and February 2018. Wide-field photographs and wide-field fundus autofluorescence fundus images were used as the primary method for identifying PAs, and swept-source optical coherence tomography images were used for investigating the retinochoroid status of PAs. Results Four hundred fifty-six PAs were detected in 137 eyes (118 patients). Patchy atrophys were located most often in the macular area (28.3%), followed by the inferior (25.9%), temporal (18.9%), nasal (14.5%), and superior (12.5%) region. All 210, PAs which had been fully or partially scanned by swept-source optical coherence tomography, showed a retinal pigment epithelium defect, and 174 (82.9%) PAs showed a Bruch membrane defect on the available scans. In 101 (82.8%) of 122 PAs with clearly detectable borders of the retinal pigment epithelium and Bruch membrane defect, the Bruch membrane defects were smaller than the retinal pigment epithelium defects. A dome-shape inward bulging of the sclera was observed in 10 PAs. Conclusion These morphological findings may provide a basis for exploring the biomechanical etiology of the PAs as part of the development of pathologic myopia.

Abstract: This study is applied to the investigation of the long noncoding RNA myocardial infarction associated transcript's (MIAT's) role in regulating the expression of high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) in cerebral microvascular endothelial cell (CMEC) injury after cerebral ischemia by serving as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) to sponge microRNA-204-5p (miR-204-5p). The cerebral ischemia model of middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in rats was established by the suture method, in which rats were injected with empty plasmids and MIAT siRNA plasmids. The cerebral ischemia injury model in vitro was established through oxygen glucose deprivation (OGD) in primary cultured CMECs in rats. The cells were transfected with empty plasmids and MIAT siRNA plasmids. The MIAT/miR-204-5p/HMGB1 axis' function in damage and angiogenesis of CMECs were explored. The binding site between MIAT and miR-204-5p along with that between miR-204-5p and HMGB1 was determined. MIAT was overexpressed in MCAO rats' brain tissue and inhibited MIAT attenuated the injury of brain tissue in MCAO rats. Inhibition of MIAT promoted angiogenesis, promoted miR-204-5p expression and inhibited HMGB1 expression in brain tissue of MCAO rats. Inhibition of MIAT reduced CMEC damage, induced angiogenesis of CMECs, increased the number of surviving neurons, promoted miR-204-5p expression and inhibited HMGB1 expression in CMECs treated with OGD. MIAT promoted HMGB1 expression by competitive binding to miR-204-5p to regulate the injury of CMECs after cerebral ischemia. Our study showed that MIAT promoted HMGB1 expression by competitively binding to miR-204-5p to regulate the injury of CMECs after cerebral ischemia.

Abstract: A binary complex plasma consists of two different types of dust particles in an ionized gas. Due to the spinodal decomposition and force imbalance, particles of different masses and diameters are typically phase separated, resulting in an interface. Both external excitation and internal instability may cause the interface to move with time. Support vector machine (SVM) is a supervised machine learning method that can be very effective for multi-class classification. We applied an SVM classification method based on image brightness to locate the interface in a binary complex plasma. Taking the scaled mean and variance as features, three areas, namely small particles, big particles and plasma without dust particles, were distinguished, leading to the identification of the interface between small and big particles.

Abstract: We investigated the clinical characteristics of cilioretinal arteries (CAs) and cilioretinal veins (CVs) in eyes with pathologic myopia. Ninety-five eyes with pathologic myopia and CAs were studied. The retrobulbar vessels from which the CAs originated were identified by indocyanine green angiography (ICGA). The results showed that 114 CAs were identified in the 95 eyes. ICGA showed that 60% of the CAs branched directly off the short posterior ciliary arteries (SPCAs) and 40% originated from the Zinn-Haller arterial circle (ZHAC). The SPCA-derived CAs tended to be located superiorly and served a large retinal area whereas the ZHAC-associated CAs tended to be located temporally and served mainly the macular area. In 15% of the 95 eyes, the CVs were observed to run parallel to the CAs. The CVs exited the eye at the same point where the CAs entered the eye. This study showed that CAs in eyes with pathologic myopia can be divided into those that are SPCA-derived and tend to emerge in the superior optic disc sector, and those that are ZHAC-associated and usually emerge temporally. An elongating peripapillary scleral flange in eyes with progressive axial myopia may lead to a change of chorioretinal vascular system.

Abstract: Deregulated expression of microRNAs plays oncogenic or anti-oncogenic roles in various cancers. However, expression of miR-107 was not consistent among several types of cancer, and the effect of miR-107 in ovarian cancer remains unclear. In this study, we found that expression miR-107 was significantly decreased in ovarian cancer patients and in cell lines. Ectopic expression of miR-107 suppressed cell proliferation and G1 phase to S transition of cell cycle, and was associated with downregulation of cyclin E1 (CCNE1) expression. Mechanistically, CCNE1 was confirmed to be a direct target of miR-107 through the dual-luciferase reporter assay. Knockdown of CCNE1 dramatically impeded cell cycle in G1/S phase transition similarly as miR-107 overexpression did. In addition, overexpression of CCNE1 reversed the inhibition of cell proliferation induced by miR-107 overexpression. Finally, miR-107 had anti-cancer potential by suppressing tumor initiation and progression in vivo. Our finding indicates that miR-107 serves as a tumor suppressor by decreasing CCNE1 expression levels, which may provide potential therapeutic strategies in ovarian cancer treatment.

237. Research and Exploit of Resource Sharing Strategy at IHEP

Abstract: At IHEP (Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences), computing resources are contributed by different experiments including BES, JUNO, DYW, HXMT, etc. The resources were divided into different partitions to satisfy the dedicated experiment data processing requirements. IHEP had a local Torqu&Maui cluster with 50 queues serving for above 10 experiments. The separated resource partitions leaded to imbalance resource load. In a typical situation, BES resource partition was quite busy without free slot but still with lots of jobs in idle, while JUNO resources are free and wasted seriously. After moving resources from Torque&Maui to HTCondor in 2016, job scheduling efficiency has been improved a lot. In order to balance the imbalance resource load, we designed an efficient sharing strategy to improve the overall resourceutilization. We created an unified pool shared by all experiments. For each experiment, resources are divided into two parts: dedicated resource and sharing resource. The slots in dedicated resource only run jobs from its own experiment, and the slots in sharing resource are shared by jobs from all experiments. Default ratio of dedicated resource to sharing resource is 1:4. To maximize the sharing effectiveness, the ratio is dynamically adjusted between 0:5 and 4:1 based on the number of jobs submitted by each experiment. We have developed a central control system to decide how many resources can be allocated to each experiment group. This system is implemented at two sides: server side and client side. A management database is built at server side, which is storing resource, group and experiment information. Once the sharing ratio needs to be adjusted, resource group will be changed and updated into database. The resource group information is published to the server buffer in real-time. The client periodically pulls resource group information from server buffer via https protocol And resource scheduling configuration at client side is changed based on the resource group information. With this method, share ratio can be modified and deployed dynamically. Sharing strategy is implemented with HTCondor. ClassAd mechanism and accounting-group in HTCondor facilitate to utilizethe sharing strategy at IHEP computing cluster. With the sharing strategy, resource usage has been improved dramatically.

Abstract: Noble-metal aerogels are emerging functional porous materials that have been applied in diverse fields. Among them, gold (Au) aerogels have displayed grand potentials in a wide range of catalytic processes. However, current fabrication methods fall short in obtaining Au gels with small ligament sizes and controlled surface valence states, which hinder the study of the underlying catalytic mechanisms. Here, a new approach of producing Au aerogels is reported. Via a two-phase ligand exchange, the long-chain ligands (oleylamine) of the as-prepared Au nanoparticles were replaced by short sulfide ions and subsequently self-assembled into three-dimensional gels. As a result, Au aerogels with small ligament sizes (ca. 3−4 nm) and tunable surface valence states are acquired. Taking the application for peroxidase mimics as an example, by correlating the surface valence with the catalytic properties, Au(I) is found to be the active site for H2O2 and substrate-binding site for 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine, paving a new avenue for on-target devising Au-based catalysts.

Abstract: PURPOSE To report on a progressing ridge-shaped macula parallel to Bruch membrane defects and a macular suprachoroidal cavitation. METHOD Single case report. RESULT The right eye of a 54-year-old man with an axial length of 30.96 mm showed 2 extrafoveal Bruch membrane defects with a partial herniation of the retina into the choroidal space and an ophthalmoscopically yellowish area inferior to one of the Bruch membrane defects. Optical coherence tomography revealed a horizontal transfoveal ridge of the sclera, Bruch membrane, and macula and a deepening of the suprachoroidal space, corresponding to the ophthalmoscopically detectable yellowish area and fulfilling the criteria of a macular suprachoroidal cavitation. After a follow-up of 10 years, the height of the ridge increased parallel to a further deepening of the macular suprachoroidal cavitation and an increase in axial length by 0.67 mm. CONCLUSION The findings support the notion of a progression of a ridge-shaped macula parallel to a further deepening of a macular suprachoroidal cavitation in an axially elongating eye.

Abstract: In a batch system, the job queue is in charge of a set of jobs. Job health is the most important issue concerned by users and administrators. The job state can be queuing, running, completed, error or held, etc, that can reflect the job health. Generally jobs can move from one state to another. However, if a job keeps in a state for too long time, there might be problems, such as worker node failure and network blocking. In a large-scale computing cluster, problems cannot be avoided. That means a number of jobs will be blocked in one state, and cannot be completed in an expected time. This will delay the progress of the computing task. For that situation, this paper studies on the unhealthy job state's reason, problem handling and job queue stability. We aim to improve the job health, and then we can improve job success rate and speed up users' task progress. Unhealthy reasons can be found from job attributes, queue information and logs, which can be analyzed in detail to acquire better solutions. Depending on who do the recovery, all the solutions are grouped into two categories. The first category is recovered by administrator. Most problems are automatically solved through integrating with the monitor system. When problem is solved, the corresponding job will be rescheduled in time, without involving users. The second category is automatically informing users to dispose unhealthy jobs by themselves. In accordance with the results of unhealthy analysis, the helpful suggestion might be recommended to users for quick recovery. Based on the foregoing methods, a job queue health system is designed and implemented at IHEP. We define a series of standards to pick out unhealthy jobs. Various factors relevant with unhealthy jobs are collected and analyzed in association. In case that unhealthy jobs could be recovered at admin side, automatic recovery functions are carried out to automatically recover the unhealthy jobs. In case that unhealthy jobs must be recovered at user side, alarms are sent to users via emails, WeChat, etc. The running status of job queue health system indicates that it's able to improve the job queue health in most situations.

Abstract: Binary complex plasmas consist of microparticles of two different species and can form two-dimensional square lattices under certain conditions. The dispersion relations of the square lattice waves are derived for the longitudinal and transverse in-plane modes, assuming that the out-of-plane mode is suppressed by the strong vertical confinement. The results are compared with the spectra obtained in Langevin dynamics simulations. Furthermore, we investigate the dependence of the dispersion relation on the charge ratio and mass ratio of the two particle species.

Abstract: COVID-19 continues to spread around the world. This is mainly because new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus emerge due to genomic mutations, evade the immune system and result in the effectiveness of current therapeutics being reduced. We previously established a series of detection platforms, comprising computational docking analysis, S-protein-based ELISA, pseudovirus entry, and 3CL protease activity assays, which allow us to screen a large library of phytochemicals from natural products and to determine their potential in blocking the entry of SARS-CoV-2. In this new screen, rutaecarpine (an alkaloid from Evodia rutaecarpa) was identified as exhibiting anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity. Therefore, we conducted multiple rounds of structure-activity-relationship (SAR) studies around this phytochemical and generated several rutaecarpine analogs that were subjected to in vitro evaluations. Among these derivatives, RU-75 and RU-184 displayed remarkable inhibitory activity when tested in the 3CL protease assay, S-protein-based ELISA, and pseudovirus entry assay (for both wild-type and omicron variants), and they attenuated the inflammatory response induced by SARS-CoV-2. Interestingly, RU-75 and RU-184 both appeared to be more potent than rutaecarpine itself, and this suggests that they might be considered as lead candidates for future pharmacological elaboration.

Abstract: Silicon carbide (SiC) is a promising semiconductor material as well as a challenging material to machine, owing to its unique characteristics including high hardness, superior thermal conductivity, and chemical inertness. The ultrafast nature of femtosecond lasers enables precise and controlled material removal and modification, making them ideal for SiC processing. In this review, we aim to provide an overview of the process properties, progress, and applications by discussing the various methodologies involved in femtosecond laser processing of SiC. These methodologies encompass direct processing, composite processing, modification of the processing environment, beam shaping, etc. In addition, we have explored the myriad applications that arise from applying femtosecond laser processing to SiC. Furthermore, we highlight recent advancements, challenges, and future prospects in the field. This review provides as an important direction for exploring the progress of femtosecond laser micro/nano processing, in order to discuss the diversity of processes used for manufacturing SiC devices.

Abstract: The synergistic effects of boron (B) and rare earth (RE) elements on the microstructure and stress rupture properties were investigated in a Ni-based superalloy. The stress rupture lifetime at 650 °C/873 MPa significantly increased with the addition of B as a single element. Furthermore, the stress rupture lifetime reached its peak (303 h), with a certain amount of B and RE added together in test alloys. Although the grain size and morphology of the γ′ phase varied a little with the change in B and RE addition, they were not considered to be the main reasons for stress rupture performance. The enhancement in stress rupture lifetime was mostly attributed to the segregation of the B and RE elements, which increased the binding force of the grain boundary and improved its strength and plasticity. In addition, the enrichment of B and RE inhabited the precipitation of carbides along grain boundaries. Furthermore, nano-scale RE precipitates containing sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) were observed to be distributed along the grain boundaries. The purification of grain boundaries by B and RE elements was favorable to further improve the stress rupture properties.

Abstract: Abstract Motivation Gene regulatory networks (GRNs) arise from the intricate interactions between transcription factors (TFs) and their target genes during the growth and development of organisms. The inference of GRNs can unveil the underlying gene interactions in living systems and facilitate the investigation of the relationship between gene expression patterns and phenotypic traits. Although several machine-learning models have been proposed for inferring GRNs from single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data, some of these models, such as Boolean and tree-based networks, suffer from sensitivity to noise and may encounter difficulties in handling the high noise and dimensionality of actual scRNA-seq data, as well as the sparse nature of gene regulation relationships. Thus, inferring large-scale information from GRNs remains a formidable challenge. Results This study proposes a multilevel, multi-structure framework called a pseudo-Siamese GRN (PSGRN) for inferring large-scale GRNs from time-series expression datasets. Based on the pseudo-Siamese network, we applied a gated recurrent unit to capture the time features of each TF and target matrix and learn the spatial features of the matrices after merging by applying the DenseNet framework. Finally, we applied a sigmoid function to evaluate interactions. We constructed two maize sub-datasets, including gene expression levels and GRNs, using existing open-source maize multi-omics data and compared them to other GRN inference methods, including GENIE3, GRNBoost2, nonlinear ordinary differential equations, CNNC, and DGRNS. Our results show that PSGRN outperforms state-of-the-art methods. This study proposed a new framework: a PSGRN that allows GRNs to be inferred from scRNA-seq data, elucidating the temporal and spatial features of TFs and their target genes. The results show the model’s robustness and generalization, laying a theoretical foundation for maize genotype-phenotype associations with implications for breeding work.

Abstract: In the field of water remediation, a 3D hydrophobic material with both remote controllability and high oil adsorption performance is highly desirable. To achieve it, magnetic components and microstructures are most likely involved. However, the simple enrolling of magnetic materials always results in quite low adsorption capacity. Additionally, the control of microstructures on 3D materials is immature, which limits the improvement of water/oil selectivity and oil adsorption speed. Herein, we devised 0D/2D hybrid dimensional magnetic microstructures with a well-defined morphology on melamine foams, which provided magnetism for remote controllability and highly rough surfaces for substantially enhanced water/oil selectivity. Hence, the resultant materials acquired magnetic-driven properties and superhydrophobicity/superoleophilicity simultaneously. Thus, they possess controllable, ultrafast, and high throughput oil uptake ability and high oil/water separation performance. The present strategy may open a new avenue to devise high-performance magnetic 3D assemblies for water remediation.

248. The influence path of community green exposure index on activity behavior under multi-dimensional spatial perception

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to reveal the internal relationship among community green space, space perception, and activity behavior response to supplement the lack of research results on the binary relationship between green space and behavior. Nine residential community green spaces and 398 residents were selected as the research objects. Thematic clustering and factor identification were used to determine the spatial dimensions of community green space that residents were concerned about. The analysis of the green exposure index, spatial perception evaluation, and activity behavior survey were combined to determine the influence of the green exposure index on spatial perception and activity behavior and its internal correlation path. According to research data, the community green view index (GVI) and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) negatively affected the perception factor, while the perception factor positively affected the activity frequency. The SEM model shows that the green exposure index stimulated activity behavior through the intermediate effect of the internal perception path of perceived landscape quality, perceived workability, and perceived accessibility. Spatial perception as the basis of the instantaneous emotional reaction process may affect people's choices for activities but be unable to extend the duration of the activities. The internal association among community green space, spatial perception, and physical activity behavior develops on the basis of spatial patterns at certain scales. This study provides a theoretical basis for understanding the spatial experience and residents' behavioral needs, evaluating the quality of urban green space scientifically, and promoting the optimization of community green space structure.

This material exhibited great potential in water remediation, such as large absorption capacity (50- to 172-fold weight gain) toward oil standing in front of all magnetic sorbents and remarkable oil/water separation performance.

Abstract: A search for a light charged Higgs boson, originating from the decay of a top quark and subsequently decaying into a charm quark and a strange antiquark, is presented. The data used in the analysis correspond to an integrated luminosity of 19.7 inverse femtobarns recorded in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 8 TeV by the CMS experiment at the LHC. The search is performed in the process t t-bar to W+/- b H-/+ b-bar, where the W boson decays to a lepton (electron or muon) and a neutrino. The decays lead to a final state comprising an isolated lepton, at least four jets and large missing transverse energy. No significant deviation is observed in the data with respect to the standard model predictions, and model-independent upper limits are set on the branching fraction B(t to H+ b), ranging from 1.2 to 6.5% for a charged Higgs boson with mass between 90 and 160 GeV, under the assumption that B(H+ to c s-bar) = 100%.
