Background Specialized proresolution molecules (SPMs) halt the transition to chronic pathogenic inflammation. We aimed to quantify serum levels of pro- and anti-inflammatory bioactive lipids in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) patients, and to identify potential relationships with innate responses and clinical outcome. Methods Serum from 50 hospital admitted inpatients (22 female, 28 male) with confirmed symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection and 94 age- and sex-matched controls collected prior to the pandemic (SARS-CoV-2 negative), were processed for quantification of bioactive lipids and anti-nucleocapsid and anti-spike quantitative binding assays. Results SARS-CoV-2 serum had significantly higher concentrations of omega-6–derived proinflammatory lipids and omega-6– and omega-3–derived SPMs, compared to the age- and sex-matched SARS-CoV-2–negative group, which were not markedly altered by age or sex. There were significant positive correlations between SPMs, proinflammatory bioactive lipids, and anti-spike antibody binding. Levels of some SPMs were significantly higher in patients with an anti-spike antibody value >0.5. Levels of linoleic acid and 5,6-dihydroxy-8Z,11Z,14Z-eicosatrienoic acid were significantly lower in SARS-CoV-2 patients who died. Conclusions SARS-CoV-2 infection was associated with increased levels of SPMs and other pro- and anti-inflammatory bioactive lipids, supporting the future investigation of the underlying enzymatic pathways, which may inform the development of novel treatments.

Attacks on a set of agents with cooperative and antagonistic interactions attempting to achieve linear bipartite consensus are considered here. In bipartite consensus, two clusters are formed, agents in each cluster converging to a final state which is negative of the other cluster's final state. The adversary seeks to slow down the bipartite consensus by a Denial of Service (DoS) type attack where the attacker has the capability to break a specific number of links at each time instant. A voltage source inverter generating a polygonal voltage space vector structure (SVS) having 117- concentric 30-sided polygons of different radii are proposed. Modulation using a 30-sided SVS eliminates lower order harmonics till 25th order from motor phase voltage. The proposed scheme combines the advantages of a 30-sided SVS with that of a multilevel inverter. The topology consists of two cascaded five-level inverters feeding from either end of the open-end induction motor stator windings. One of the cascaded five-level inverter is connected to an active dc source and delivers the required active power for the scheme, while the other is capacitor fed and acts as a switched capacitive filter. In this article, nonaligned 30-sided polygons, i.e., regular 30-sided polygons that are not symmetric with respect to $\alpha$ and $\beta$ axis are also considered for inverter operation. The harmonic analysis of such nonaligned 30-sided polygons is investigated in this article. Nearest level switching is employed throughout the modulation range, enabling further reduction of switching loss in the system. Extensive hardware experimentations are carried out to validate the proposed scheme and the results are included in the article.

Objectives This systematic review was designed to measure the pooled prevalence of morphological variations in the root canal of permanent incisors and canines among Asian adults. Methods An electronic search was conducted in the PubMed, Scopus, and EBSCO databases, and relevant studies were included. Studies reporting on the Vertucci canal configuration (types I to VIII) were included. A weighted proportion (pooled prevalence) with 95% confidence interval was calculated for each canal type, and the outcome was stratified based on country, technique of assessment, gender, and age. Results Sixty articles were included in the final review. In all types of maxillary anterior teeth, the pooled prevalence of type I canal configuration was greater than 97%, whereas mandibular central incisor, lateral incisor, and canines had a prevalence of 78.4%, 69.2%, and 91.1%, respectively. Studies considering mandibular anterior teeth as a single entity had a lower prevalence of type I configuration (70.1%). Variations in root canal configurations were also observed between countries. Among gender, males had a significantly lower prevalence of type I and a higher prevalence of type II and III canal configurations in the mandibular anterior teeth. A variation in canal types was also noted with advancing age, with younger age groups showing more variations. Conclusion The majority of maxillary and mandibular anterior teeth have type I Vertucci canal configuration, but variations in mandibular anterior teeth, especially lateral incisors, are also common. Variations were also observed among population, gender, age, and prevalence based on the diagnostic techniques used.

Exogenous testosterone is vital to gender-affirming therapy for transmasculine individuals. Testosterone may be implicated in breast cancer (BCa) because it can activate androgen and estrogen receptors. To further explore this risk, we performed a systematic review to investigate the impact of exogenous testosterone on BCa risk in transmasculine individuals.We searched PubMed/MEDLINE and Ovid/Embase for clinical and preclinical studies assessing BCa and testosterone therapy and screened 6125 articles independently. We ascertained level of evidence using a modified tool from Cook et al (Chest. 1992;102:305S-311S) and risk of bias using a modified Joanna Briggs Institute's Critical Appraisal Tool.Seventy-six studies were included. Epidemiological data suggested that BCa incidence was higher in transmasculine individuals compared with cisgender men but lower compared with cisgender women. Histological studies of transmasculine breast tissue samples also demonstrated a low incidence of precancerous lesions. Interestingly, cases demonstrated that BCa occurred at a younger average age in transmasculine individuals and was predominantly hormone receptor positive. The mechanism for BCa in transmasculine individuals may be related to androgen receptor stimulation or conversion to estradiol. Serum studies reported varied estradiol levels associated with exogenous testosterone. Animal and in vitro studies demonstrated that testosterone was growth inhibitory but may induce proliferation at higher doses or with low estradiol levels.Plastic surgeons play a critical role in providing gender-affirming care for transmasculine patients. The limited studies available suggest that this patient population has decreased risk for BCa when compared with cisgender women; however, any BCa that does occur may have different clinical presentations and underlying mechanisms compared with cisgender women and men. Overall, the limitations for clinical studies and discrepancies among preclinical studies warrant further investigation.

Modulation using a higher sided polygonal space vector structure (SVS) is an elegant method to increase the linear modulation range and to eliminate the undesired lower order harmonics from motor phase voltage. This article presents the generation of a dense 15-concentric 30-sided multilevel SVS using a single dc-link for an open end induction motor (OEIM) drive. The proposed scheme eliminates lower order harmonics till 25th order from motor phase voltage throughout the modulation range. The $dv/dt$ stress in the phase voltage applied to the motor will also be highly reduced owing to the multilevel structure. The pulsewidth modulation scheme employed utilizes the denseness of SVS and avoids iterative searches to find the triangle, which encompasses the tip of reference voltage vector, which are typical in multilevel polygonal SVS. The topology consists of an active dc-link fed three-level primary inverter and a capacitor fed five-level secondary inverter connected to either end of an OEIM. The primary inverter acts as the active power supplier for the drive and the secondary inverter filters out the undesirable lower order harmonics from motor phase voltage. The proposed scheme is experientially validated and the results are included in this article.

In this article, a multilevel inverter scheme to generate a 30-sided space vector structure (SVS) with congruent triangles is proposed. The 30-sided SVS eliminates all the lower order harmonics till 25th order from motor phase voltage throughout the modulation range. The proposed scheme is implemented using a single dc-link on an open-end induction motor (OEIM). The OEIM is fed with primary inverter from one end and secondary inverter from the other end. Primary inverter is fed from an active dc-link and supplies all the required active power for the scheme. Secondary inverter is a capacitor fed inverter, which acts as the switched capacitive filter. In this work, a simple algorithm is proposed, which calculates the timings required for a 2-level 30-sided SVS from sampled reference voltages. The algorithm requires only simple operations such as addition, multiplication, and comparisons. From the obtained timing values, the space vector location of three nearest multilevel 30-sided vectors and its time duration can be identified. The feasibility of the proposed scheme is proved by experimental results.

Herein we report efficient catalytic hydrosilylations of nitroarenes to form the corresponding aromatic amines using a well-defined manganese(II)-NNO pincer complex with a low catalyst loading (1 mol %) under solvent-free conditions. This base-metal-catalyzed hydrosilylation is an easy and sustainable alternative to classical hydrogenation. A large variety of nitroarenes bearing various functionalities were selectively transformed into the corresponding aromatic amines in good yields. The potential utility of the present catalytic protocol was demonstrated by the preparation of commercial drug molecules.

There is a continued need for sarbecovirus vaccines that can be manufactured and distributed in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Subunit protein vaccines are manufactured at large scales at low costs, have less stringent temperature requirements for distribution in LMICs, and several candidates have shown protection against SARS-CoV-2. We previously reported an engineered variant of the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein receptor binding domain antigen (RBD-L452K-F490W; RBD-J) with enhanced manufacturability and immunogenicity compared to the ancestral RBD. Here, we report a second-generation engineered RBD antigen (RBD-J6) with two additional mutations to a hydrophobic cryptic epitope in the RBD core, S383D and L518D, that further improved expression titers and biophysical stability. RBD-J6 retained binding affinity to human convalescent sera and to all tested neutralizing antibodies except antibodies that target the class IV epitope on the RBD core. K18-hACE2 transgenic mice immunized with three doses of a Beta variant of RBD-J6 displayed on a virus-like particle (VLP) generated neutralizing antibodies (nAb) to nine SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern at similar levels as two doses of Comirnaty. The vaccinated mice were also protected from challenge with Alpha or Beta SARS-CoV-2. This engineered antigen could be useful for modular RBD-based subunit vaccines to enhance manufacturability and global access, or for further development of variant-specific or broadly acting booster vaccines.

This article proposes an inverter topology for the first time for suppression of all lower order harmonics (5th, 7th, 11th, 13th, etc.) up to 39th harmonic. The lower order harmonic suppression is achieved by switching the 42-sided polygonal vectors, which eliminates harmonics in phase voltage without using a passive $LC$ filtering technique. The power circuit topology uses a single dc-link supply for the primary inverter. The secondary inverter is fed with a capacitive supply. A novel topology is proposed for the dense six-level secondary inverter. The lower order harmonics in phase voltage are suppressed using the secondary inverter, which acts like a switched-capacitive filter. This article also proposes a novel capacitor voltage-balancing scheme for the first time, which achieves voltage balancing for secondary inverter capacitors. The voltages of secondary inverter capacitors are balanced using the power balance relationship between the primary inverter and the motor load. An experimental study of the topology and the capacitor-balancing scheme is presented for the validation of proposed scheme.

Purpose World over organizations are focusing on sustainable goals, where along with economic success their role in protecting the planet and people are becoming important. Whilst transforming the supply chain into a sustainable one, there would be some barriers which might hinder this process. This paper aims to study these barriers in the context of the electronics industry so that organizations can better implement sustainable supply chain programs. Design/methodology/approach In this research, barriers affecting sustainability implementation in the electronics supply chain are shortlisted from literature review and experts’ opinion. Using the combined methodology of Grey DEMATEL, the causal factors, the effect factors and degree of prominence of barriers is found out. The overall relationship among barriers is established by a diagraph. Sensitivity analysis is performed to check the robustness of the results. Findings It is found that lack of regulation and guidance from authorities is the primary causal barrier affecting operations of sustainable supply chain management. There are five barriers which fall in the influenced group and among them, complexity in measuring and monitoring sustainability practices has the largest net effect value on the implementation of a sustainable supply chain. The barrier having the highest correlation with other barriers is the high cost for disposal of hazardous wastes. The implications of these findings on managers and academicians is explored in the study. Research limitations/implications In this research, the number of barriers shortlisted is limited to 11 in the context of the electronics supply chain. More factors could be added in future research based on the industry being studied. Originality/value The research analyses 11 barriers under categories of policy, technology, financial and human resources in the Indian electronics industry by evaluating the cause and effect group of barriers. These results can guide policymakers of the electronic sector and industry for mitigating barriers during the implementation of sustainable programs.

In the current scenario, considerable attention is being given to the enzyme L-glutaminase (EC 3.5.1.2). It belongs to the amidohydrolase class adherent to the family of serine-reliant β-lactamases and the penicillin-binding proteins due to its higher affinity to polymerize and modify peptidoglycan synthesis. However, based on the catalytic proficiency, L-glutaminase is characterized as a proteolytic endopeptidase that cleaves peptide linkage and emancipates various byproducts, viz. ammonia along with glutamate. L-glutamine is considered the key amino acid reportedly involved in multiple metabolic pathways such as nitrogen metabolism. The present review is focused on the recent development and aspects concomitant to the biotechnological applicability of L-glutaminase predominantly from the marine habitat. Additionally, a majority of L-glutaminases finds application in cancer therapy as therapeutic agents, especially for acute lymphocytic leukaemia. The in vitro studies have been effective against various human cancer cell lines. L-glutaminase enhances the growth of probiotic bacteria. Apart from all these applications, it is suitably applicable in fermented foods as a flavour enhancer especially the umami flavour and content. Marine habitats have largely been exploited for their bio-catalytic potential but very scarcely for therapeutic enzymes. Some of the reports of such marine bacterial isolates from Bacillus sp., Pseudomonas sp. and Vibrio sp. are in the domain, but none highlights the therapeutic applications predominantly as anticancer and anti-proliferative agents. KEY POINTS: The exploration of marine habitats along the Gujarat coasts mainly for bacteria secreting L-glutaminase is scarcely reported, and even more scarce are the amidohydrolases from these marine niches as compared to their terrestrial counterparts. Microbial sourced amidohydrolase has wide bio-applicability that includes food, cosmetics and therapeutics especially as anticancer/anti-proliferative agent making it of immense biotechnological significance.

To evaluate association between clinical and pathological findings and repeated recurrence in sinonasal inverted papilloma.Retrospective cohort study conducted at a tertiary care teaching hospital included all patients operated for inverted papilloma from January 2010 to December 2019. Patients were categorized as primary and recurrent cases. Based on disease status at follow-up, they were subcategorized into 'primary with no recurrence' (PnR), 'primary with recurrence' (PwR), 'recurrent with no further recurrence' (RnR), and 'recurrent with further recurrence' (RwR) groups. Data including demography, clinical, endoscopic and pathological findings were collected and analyzed.Increased incidence of pale appearance of lesion in RnR group (p = 0.017), polypoidal appearance in primary group (p = 0.002) and fibrous appearance in the recurrent group (p = 0.002) were statistically significant. Predominant epithelium was combined respiratory and squamous epithelium in primary and recurrent groups and also in RnR group (p = 0.019), while it was squamous (p = 0.024) in RwR group. Epithelial hyperplasia was more common in primary and RnR groups. Oncocytic change, cystic dilatation, microabscess and squamous metaplasia were seen more in recurrent and RnR groups. Cytoplasmic glycogenation was more in recurrent and RwR groups. Stroma was predominantly edematous in all the groups.Patients with recurrence are younger and present earlier than those with primary disease. Fleshy appearance and pink/red colour of tumour, lining epithelium being squamous and cytoplasmic glycogenation could be considered as features predicting recurrence. Negative predictors of recurrence of IP include pale appearance of tumour, combined respiratory and squamous epithelium lining and squamous metaplasia.

The performance of perovskite solar cells with inverted polarity (p-i-n) is still limited by recombination at their electron extraction interface, which also lowers the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of p-i-n perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells. A MgF x interlayer with thickness of ~1 nanometer at the perovskite/C 60 interface favorably adjusts the surface energy of the perovskite layer through thermal evaporation, which facilitates efficient electron extraction and displaces C 60 from the perovskite surface to mitigate nonradiative recombination. These effects enable a champion open-circuit voltage of 1.92 volts, an improved fill factor of 80.7%, and an independently certified stabilized PCE of 29.3% for a monolithic perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell ~1 square centimeter in area. The tandem retained ~95% of its initial performance after damp-heat testing (85°C at 85% relative humidity) for >1000 hours.
