Prince Edward Island (PEI) is well known around the world for its potato industry. While economically beneficial for PEI, potato production contributes to its environmental deterioration. This can be attributed to the high use of chemicals and fertilizers in the production, which leads to the pollution of PEI’s watercourses. In response to the environmental crisis, the PEI provincial government proposed several land use policies to mitigate the negative influence of potato production on water quality. One of the policies that is analyzed in this paper is a mandated crop rotation. The analysis of the mandatory crop rotation policy is achieved through the application of optimal control theory and dynamic programming. Findings from the co-integration model show that agriculture is most likely responsible for watercourse pollution in PEI. This provides statistical evidence that a policy aimed at water protection, specifically targeting potato land use is necessary. However the application of environmentally friendly approach (mandatory crops rotation) is positive, its negative impact on individual farms economy is evident.

The objective of this thesis is to analyse determinants of subjective well-being in Czechia and to compare them with other empirical evidence from Czechia and abroad. Main theoretical approaches include those emphasising "psychological" factors and those emphasising factors outside of the human personality. Data from the Public Opinion Research Centre of more than 2,000 respondents from Czechia of years 2013 and 2014 were analysed statistically. Measures of so-called global and local subjective well-being were dependent variables. Independent variables include "geographical" and demographic variables and other dummies. It was confirmed that people living in more populated buildings, with a lower space mobility, older, of a lower employment status or unemployed, lower education and left-wing oriented declare usually a lower results on the subjective well-being, too. Gender and income had variable effect on the subjective well-being. Theoretical assumptions were not confirmed considering the settlement size, mode of commuting and religion.

A radical change of the socio-cultural order has brought about globalisation processes. Their consequences in the economic sphere include, mainly, growing interdependence, increasing mobility of the production factors and rising efficiency of the global economy. This brings important causes in the political dimension, were the anarchy at the global level translates into erosion of the role of state sovereignty and creation of world economy inefficiencies. Qualitatively new system of global governance, governance at multiple levels and a regulative sub-system emerge, which the World Trade Organisation is a main example of. To reach an effective solution, it is essential to introduce a reform. The central methodological bases are systems theory and neo-liberal internationalism of this analysis.

The objective of this thesis is a view of the work of philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, particularly with respect to his primary ideological sources which can be traced down in his original texts. Another aim is to try to include his personal and personality preconditions, which noticeably affected some of his statements and opinions, into his philosophical perspectives. By analysing Schopenhauer's approach to the earlier philosophical legacy of his predecessors, this thesis should be on the firm ground while philosophically interpreting Schopenhauer's principle ideas, especially in consideration of a peak of his whole system, the concept of ethics. The main aim and ambition of this thesis consists in pointing out Schopenhauer's perspectives, whether they are personality or philosophical, which determine his work. Special attention will be paid to his first work - dissertation - which appears to be a main key to the understanding of Schopenhauer's whole philosophical system. Schopenhauer's basic concept as a fruit of the work of humanistically oriented thinker should be presented at the end of the thesis, although this interpretation is not prevailing.

The diploma thesis is about the preparation, implementation and feedback of a school project. The first part is focused on the territory, regional history and its application in teaching. The following topic introduces the history of town Da ice, the most important monuments and personages of this town. The main part of the diploma thesis describes several-day project lessons carried out directly in the town and its data processing in connection with next utilization of the beginning project for the school, next classes, whole town and last but not least territory. The main task of the diploma thesis has been fulfilled. I have created the methodical manual for teachers from primary and secondary schools how to make an excursion through the town (or city).

Brueelia fasciata Sychra, new species (Figs. 1, 3–4, 12–13) Type host: Amadina fasciata (Gmelin): cut-throat finch. Male (n = 5). Head triangular with straight-sided forehead (Fig. 12). Preantennal region longer than postantennal region. Lateral sides of preantennal region almost straight with marginal carina interrupted in midline. Clavi triangular, diaphanous, longer than the first antennal segment. Pronotum with 1 seta on each posterolateral corner; metanotum with 7 setae (3 long, 4 short) on each posterolateral margin. Metathorax with straight lateral sides (Fig. 3). All abdominal tergites divided centrally. Remarks. A characteristic feature of Brueelia lice from estrildid hosts is a triangular head with a straightsided forehead, and the lateral sides of the marginal carina interrupted in the midline. Brueelia fasciata is morphologically similar to five species from estrildid hosts: B. stenozona (Kellogg & Chapman, 1902); B. eichleri Lakshminarayana, 1969; B. astrildae Tendeiro & Mendes, 1994; B. lonchurae Tendeiro & Mendes, 1994 and B. amandavae Rékási & Saxena, 2005. Head similar to B. fasciata, but with uninterrupted marginal carina (Fig. 16). Pronotum with 1 seta on each posterolateral corner; metanotum with 7 setae (3 long, 4 short) on each posterolateral margin. Metathorax with concave lateral sides and rounded apically (Fig. 8). All abdominal tergites divided centrally. Tergal setae on each side as follows: tergites II–IV, 0; V, 1–2; VI, 2–3; VII, 4–5; VIII, 3–4; IX 5 (Fig. 7), terminally with 4 setae. Abdominal sterna with a pair of setae. A pair of small oval-shaped plates placed between sternal and pleural plates on sternites III–VII (Fig. 7). Subgenital plate of characteristic shape (Fig. 9). Male genitalia as in Fig. 10, basal apodeme with conspicuous concave lateral margin. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate financial situation of Měšťanský pivovar Strakonice, a.s. The work is divided into 2 parts. The first part deals with methodical aspect of financial analysis, it contains the theoretical importance of financial analysis, the sources of information for financial analysis, particular indicators and complex bankruptcy and credibility models. In the second part these methods are applied on the analyzed company and I try to interpret the resulting values.

The aim of this thesis is a description of the planning, establishment and development of advertising portal Gastrosvět.cz, as the actual project conducted by the Business Incubator of VŠE. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part explains and descibes used terms like business, businessman, SWOT analysis, balance sheet, profit and loss account, cash flow, break-point analysis, legal forms of business enterprise, life cycle of a business plan, financing options and organization structures. The practical part is concerning to the project and includes information about its business plan, staffing, know-how, the scope of the position, market segmentation, timing, legal forms, business objectives, competitive analysis, SWOT analysis before starting the project, financial planning, business strategy, requirements system, marketing and advertising, and other possibilities for the development of the project.

Reactivators of acetylcholinesterase inhibited by organophosphate inhibitors play an important role in organophosphate poisoning therapy. There are a large number of reactivators being tested for their ability of penetration through blood-brain barrier (BBB) nowadays. The main aim of this thesis is to test this ability in four well know reactivators {--} HI-6, K-027, K-074 and TO-032. The 5% lethal dose (LD50) {--} therapeutic dose - of each reactivator was i.m. (intramuscularly) applied to experimental animals (Wistar rats) into right posterior thighs. Then the animals were sacrificed and the blood (plasma) and brain were collected for HPLC analysis. Subsequently, brain and plasma were frozen at -80 °C and stored until the assay. The reactivator concentrations were measured in plasma and four parts of the brain {--} frontal cortex (FC), basal ganglia (BG), ponto-medullar part (PM) and cerebellum (Ce). There were five animals for each group used for the purpose of the experiment. The concentrations of reactivators in plasma and blood samples were measured using HPLC-UV/VIS methodology. HI-6 concentrations CFC were on the average 4.29% of Caverage in plasma, CBG were on the average 1.9% of Caverage in plasma, CPM were on the average 2.3% of Caverage in plasma, and CCe were on the average 1.85% of Caverage in plasma. These rates were counted from all concentrations within the scope of particular observed parts of the brain. All the other tested reactivators were not quantified in brain at all.

Eurasian Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) is a long-distance migrant breeding in wetlands of western and central Palaearctic and wintering in sub-Saharan Africa. We used all available recoveries to outline the migration patterns and migratory connectivity of the species. In addition, we employed stable isotope analysis as an indirect approach to infer the wintering origin of 15 European populations. Ringing recoveries showed that Reed Warblers from Western and Northern Europe and northern parts of Central and Eastern Europe use the western Mediterranean flyway, pass through Iberia and enter Africa via Morocco or Algeria. Birds breeding in the Pannonian plain and on the western Black Sea coast head initially southeast passing through the eastern Mediterranean, entering Africa through Egypt or eastern Libya. Birds migrating in the two general directions meet in southern Central Europe (and probably in Italy) where a migratory divide occurs. The sub-Saharan recoveries show two main clusters which refer to the two main migratory directions (SW-migrating birds winter from Senegal to western Nigeria, SE-migrating birds in the Lake Chad basin). In addition, recoveries in Senegambia show relatively high migratory connectivity of British and Iberian Reed Warblers. Values of carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes from feathers grown in Africa varied considerably within populations and greatly overlapped between populations, suggesting that very different habitats are used during moult. Delta15N values, however, differed significantly between SW- and SE-migrating populations, indicating some separation of the winter quarters in birds using the two general migratory flyways.
