Strategic Communication (StratCom) is recognised by NATO as a concept that brings to the same denominator all the civilian and military activities carried out to significantly impact on the information environment. NATO StratCom gathers under its umbrella public diplomacy, public affairs, information and psychological operations, assuming support, integration and coordination functions. The paper analyses the theoretical and practical StratCom approaches applied to facilitate the achievement of national and allied objectives, emphasising the communication policies in support of NATO's objectives, and the procedures developed by the allies to clarify the role of military and civilian agencies.
