An intellectual capital includes knowledge, information, experience and intellectual asset of individuals which can be used for creating opportunities and wealth in organizations. Human capital as a subset of intellectual capital represents individuals' knowledge. Nowadays, women tend to achieve equal opportunities as men, applying their knowledge and experiences regardless of their gender. Likewise, women's efforts to participate in social and political activities have increased rapidly in recent years in Iran. For instance, statistics show a higher demand to enter universities among women. This study tries to answer the following questions: To what extent and in what aspects has gender composition of labor force changed in Iran during the last decade? What opportunities have been provided for women in order to use their experiences and knowledge? Have women had the same opportunities for promotion as men? In order to conduct the study, three Iranian research institutes have been selected and a researcher-designed questionnaire was used to be completed by both women and men in those institutes in order to determine gender-related bias. In addition, findings of this study are compared with those of other similar studies for further validity and completion of data. Based on the results achieved from this study, some recommendations are provided for the improvement of women as an important part of organization's human capital, too. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
