5-alpha inhibitors are an effective treatment for androgenetic alopecia. Mesotherapy with dutasteride has been proposed as an effective method to improve hair loss and reducing systemic absorption.The main objective was to describe the safety profile of mesotherapy with dutasteride in real clinical practice in a large cohort of patients with androgenetic alopecia. A secondary aim was to describe the effectiveness of this treatment.A multicentric retrospective study was designed. Patients treated with at least 6 months of follow-up were included in the study. Side effects and response to the treatment were analyzed.A total of 541 patients were included. The commonest approach during the first year was to perform the treatment every 3 months. Response to the mesotherapy in monotherapy could be assessed in 86 patients (15.9%) after one year. Most of them presented clinical improvement, being a marked improvement in 33 patients (38.4%). Pain was the most frequent side effect of the treatment (246 patients, 45.5%). No serious or sexual adverse events were detected.Mesotherapy with dutasteride was effective in male and female hair loss in real clinical practice. Side effects related to the treatment were mild and self-limited. This therapy may be an effective option for select patients wishing to avoid oral treatment. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is widely used in dermatology for skin depigmentation. However, there are very few clinical studies on the efficacy of vitamin C in gingival depigmentation. This preliminary case series aims to present the clinical effectiveness, histologic changes, and patient-reported outcomes of intra-epidermal vitamin C injections (oral mesotherapy) for managing patients with gingival melanin hyperpigmentation.Five patients were administered locally injectable vitamin C (once per week for 4 to 5 visits) in maxillary or mandibular anterior pigmented gingiva. The depigmentation effect was evaluated using the Dummett Oral Pigmentation Index (DOPI) and Gingival Pigmentation Index (GPI). Digital photographs were used to assess gingival luminescence (L*) and pigmented surface area (PSA). Parameters were recorded at baseline and at 1 and 3 months. Melanocyte histopathologic count was determined at baseline and at 3 months. Pain, gingival color change, and patient satisfaction scores were also assessed.Median GPI, DOPI, and PSA were significantly reduced (P ≤ .05) from baseline to 1 month. There was no statistically significant change from 1 month to 3 months. L* value significantly increased from baseline to 3 months. A median pain score of 3 (scale of 0 to 10) was observed on the day of the procedure. A score of 3 (scale of 0 to 4) was reported for the gingival color and scores 3 and 4 (scale of 0 to 4) for the overall patient satisfaction.Oral mesotherapy using locally injectable vitamin C is a nonsurgical, minimally invasive, and efficient technique for gingival depigmentation. Indian patients were satisfied with the gingival color obtained and the overall treatment experience.As all the branches of medicine, specifically dentistry, direct to minimally invasive approaches, mesotherapy shows great importance to reduce the surgical interventions, especially when esthetic outcomes are needed. Oral mesotherapy using locally injectable vitamin C can be a useful nonsurgical technique for achieving gingival depigmentation in the esthetic zone.

Objective. The study aimed to assess the dynamics of the systemic immune response in patients during mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid (HA).Materials and methods. The observation group included 26 women who received the first-time mesocorrection with drugs based on hyaluronic acid (HA). Injections of low molecular weight HA were carried out according to standard methods in a course of 5 procedures with an interval of 14 days. The parameters of the innate and adaptive immune response were studied before and two weeks after the end of the course. The skin condition was assessed by dermatoscopy (Aramo Smart Lite 300, Southern Korea).Results. The clinical effect of the course of procedures was reflected in the subjective improvement in the appearance. The improvement was confirmed by hardware analysis, which recorded an increase in hydration, a smoothing of the skin relief, and a decrease in the depth of wrinkles. At the end of the course, redistribution of lymphocyte populations towards natural killer cells and B-lymphocytes was revealed with a decrease in the total number of T cells. The antibody production of immunoglobulins of classes M and G was increased, the serum content of Ig A and IgE was reduced, the number of both T-effectors and T-lymphocytes with immunosuppressive activity increased. Changes in the neutrophil system were characterized by the inhibition of the production of reactive oxygen intermediates; the dynamics of the expression of Toll-like receptors by monocytes was ambiguous.Conclusion. The results of the study confirmed the active involvement of the factors of innate and adaptive systemic response in the cosmetic effect, which manifested itself immediately after mesotherapy as systemic dysregulatory immune changes.

Objetivo: avaliar as particularidades do uso de injetáveis na redução de gordura localizada facial, com foco no ácido desoxicólico e desoxicolato de sódio, com intuito de analisar sua eficácia e apresentar informações relevantes para a prática clínica. Revisão Bibliográfica: Os compostos que promovem lipoclasia, ácido desoxicólico e desoxicolato de sódio têm sido usados em tratamentos injetáveis para diminuição de depósitos de gordura localizados na face. O ácido desoxicólico é um ácido biliar sintético recentemente introduzido no âmbito das terapias em rejuvenescimento para a redução da gordura submentoniana. O desoxicolato de sódio é o sal do ácido desoxicólico, possui ação detergente e solubiliza as membranas celulares, induz necrose tecidual e redução do volume. A maioria dos estudos avaliados tratou a adiposidade da região submental, no entanto também foram relatados tratamentos nas regiões infrapalpebrais, mandibulares e nas regiões de terço médio e inferior de face. Observou-se que ambos as substâncias são eficazes e seguras, produzem resultados satisfatórios e causam reações adversas leves e locais. Conclusão: A redução de gordura localizada na face através da injeção de desoxicolato de sódio ou ácido desoxicólico possui uma ação singular no tratamento da gordura localizada por induzir a necrose dos adipócitos e neocolagênese.

Although it appears to be a simple, easy, and financially attractive therapeutic modality, skin rejuvenation mesotherapy is a controversial cosmetic procedure and proof of its efficacy is still lacking. The authors have published a review about this therapeutic modality more than a decade ago. Few clinical studies evaluating its efficacy and safety were available then without any conclusive scientific evidence about its efficacy; nevertheless, mesotherapy has continued to be performed at a relatively high financial cost to patients by many nonmedical and medical professionals for antiaging purposes. The current review is an update aimed at identifying any evidence about the scientific validity and efficacy of this approach that has emerged since then. No clinical valuable new data and new information has been identified. As by American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) policy statement updated and approved in 2019, mesotherapy for skin rejuvenation is currently not Food and Drug Administration approved. Until more conclusive data is available, skin rejuvenation mesotherapy cannot be recommended for routine skin rejuvenation clinical application.

Introduction Corticosteroid-induced rosacea-like dermatitis (CIRD) is one of the cutaneous side effects of long and excessive application of topical corticosteroids, resembling rosacea that can present with a series of cutaneous manifestations. Most patients with CIRD undergo a variety of long-term treatments before their symptoms are relieved as there is no accepted standard therapy. We gave each of seven patients two sessions of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) mesotherapy before the routine treatment to restore their skin barrier function, and we were surprised to find that the patients’ symptoms and appearance were significantly improved without any further treatments. Here we report this unexpected finding in dealing with CIRD. Case Presentation Seven patients, one male and six female, who had history of applying topical corticosteroids on the face for more than 3 months continuously or intermittently for various reasons were diagnosed with CIRD, showing varying degrees of erythema, telangiectasia, and papules, with dry skin, pain, and burning or stinging sensation. We intended to use the restorative effect of PRP to restore the skin barrier function of the patients for further treatment such as tacrolimus ointment, intense pulsed light (IPL), or pulsed dye laser (PDL), so they were treated twice with PRP intradermal injections using a mesogun injector machine. We used the VISIA skin detector to photograph and compare the changes after the treatments. Clinical efficacy was also assessed by the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS). Patients’ assessments were recorded using three-point scale questionnaires. After two sessions of PRP treatment, before any further treatment, we were surprised to find that the patients' symptoms had improved significantly, as confirmed by VISIA skin detector and GAIS. All of the patients were satisfied with the outcomes, considering that mesotherapy was not painful and their appearance and symptoms had much improved. Conclusions PRP mesotherapy may mitigate sensitivity and inflammation in patients with CIRD by reducing erythema, telangiectasia, and papules. It is worth conducting large randomized controlled trials to verify its safety and efficacy in treating corticosteroid-induced rosacea-like dermatitis and maybe rosacea.

Intradermotherapy allows for treatment of different aesthetic conditions. Currently, it can be applied in its conventional form using needles or using the pressurized technique. The sample consisted of 35 women with adiposity located in the abdominal region. The volunteers were randomly assigned to 3 subgroups: G1 (n = 12) who were subject to the pressurized technique and the conventional technique with needles using only saline substance, with 6 volunteers in each application mode; G2 (n = 9), who received pressurized application using Concept Ti Liporedutor (lipolytic substance); and G3 (n = 14), who were treated with the needle injection technique, with the same substance used in G2. All groups received 4 treatment sessions with 2-week intervals between them. The analysis of the fat layer conducted 90 days after the initial application demonstrated a significant reduction in measurements in the treated groups, and also when compared with the control group, both for ultrasound, perimetry, and plicometry (only right side) data. Despite the effectiveness of the 2 application techniques, the pressurized method showed superior results. Hyperemia and skin marks were among the adverse reactions reported by the groups, but they showed quick resolution. It is noteworthy that most of the volunteers in the treated groups evaluated the results positively and were satisfied with the treatment. The intradermotherapy protocol with lipolytic substance significantly reduced the fat layer, with more evident results when using the pressurized application method.

Intradermal injection of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a non-surgical cosmetic therapy to rejuvenate the periorbital area pathologies of wrinkles, periorbital hyperpigmentation (POH), and photoaging. The past decade has seen the adoption of this novel therapy around the world. This is the first systematic review and meta-analysis evaluating PRP treatment of periorbital pathologies. This is a PRISMA compliant review that includes a comprehensive search of the databases Cochrane Library, Ovid Medline, Ovid Embase, and clinicaltrials.gov. The search was performed in June 2019 to obtain all peer-reviewed articles published in English that describe the application of PRP to periorbital pathologies. A meta-analysis of patient satisfaction was performed for randomized controlled trials. Nineteen studies treating 455 patients (95% female, age range 28–60) were included. Studies were categorized based on reported outcomes: wrinkles (11 studies), POH (7 studies), and photoaging (6 studies). Patients were treated a mean of 3 times (range 1–8) in mean intervals of 23 days (range 14–56 days). Follow-up averaged 3 months (range 1–6 months). Meta-analysis of 3 randomized controlled clinical trials (RCTs) shows that patients treated with PRP have increased satisfaction above controls of saline, platelet-poor plasma, mesotherapy, and as an adjunct to laser therapy (overall effect p = 0.001, heterogeneity I2 = 64%). PRP treatment of periorbital area pathologies results in histologic improvements of photoaging, subjective satisfaction score increases, and blind evaluator assessments of rejuvenated skin appearance. Future studies are needed to address limitations of the current literature and should include long-term follow-up, delineation of the POH etiology that is treated, RCTs with low risk of bias, and be absent conflicts of interest or industry sponsors. Introduction. The sufficiency of vitamin D is important for slowing down the aging of the skin, maintaining its hydration, elasticity and the ability to regenerate. Biologically active forms of vitamin D (including alfacalcidol) promote the activation of genes whose function is directly related to the maintenance of the structure of the skin, subcutaneous tissue, fascia and muscle fibers.The aim of the work was to assess the prospects for the inclusion of alfacalcidol (“Alpha D3”, 0.25 μg, 1 caps/day) in the rehabilitation programs of patients with age-related ptosis of the face (n = 40, age 47 ± 5 years).Materials and methods. 4 groups of patients with age-related facial ptosis (n = 40, average age 47 ± 5 years) were observed for 60 days; measurements were made before and after clinical trials. Group 1A (first treatment, n = 12) received the daily dose of Alpha D3, 0.25 mg, in the morning, for 60 days, during this period the patients received 4 cosmetic procedures (2 plastic face massages and 2 stimulation current therapies). Group 1B (first control, n = 8) received only 4 cosmetic procedures over 60 days (2 plastic face massages and 2 stimulation current therapies). Group 2A (second treatment, n = 12) received the daily dose of ALFA D3, 0.25 mg, for 60 days, during this period the patients received 4 DMAE (diethylaminoethanol) mesotherapy procedures. Group 2B (second control, n = 8) only received 4 DMAE (diethylaminoethanol) mesotherapy procedures.Results. Alfacalcidol intake significantly increased the concentrations of 25 (OH) D (from 17 ± 5 ng/ml to 27 ± 8 ng/ml, P = 0.001) and calcium (from 86 ± 10 mg/L to 96 ± 6 mg/L, P = 0.01) in serum. The positive dynamics of the concentrations of 25 (OH) D and calcium when taking alfacalcidol corresponded to an increase in the total bone mineral density (+ 0.03 ± 0.03 g/cm3, control: + 0.006 ± 0.03, P = 0.016) and T-criterion (+0.4 ± 0.5, control: -0.07 ± 0.2, P = 0.0002), which indicates compensation for vitamin D deficiency and an improvement in bone metabolism. An increase in the levels of 25 (OH) D and calcium when taking alfacalcidol was accompanied by a positive trend in skin condition according to bioimpedance measurements. Taking the drug significantly increased the moisture content of the facial skin (from 17 ± 14 points to 29 ± 14 points, P = 0.055, without changes in the control) and increased the amplitude of the muscle motor response to the stimulus (+ 0.24 ± 0.22, P < 0.02).Conclusions. Within the framework of a randomized design, it was shown that the addition of massage, microcurrent therapy, mesotherapy with alfacalcidol led to a significant increase in serum 25 (OH) D levels, an increase in skin elasticity and hydration, a decrease in visceral fat according to bioimpedance measurements, and an improvement in indicators of muscle contractility and neuromuscular signal transmission according to electromyography data and an increase in bone mineral density.

Hand eczema is a recurrent and resistant disease that seriously affects the quality of life of patients; currently, there are no ideal treatments for hand eczema. Here, we describe two patients who presented with hand eczema to illustrate the potential efficacy of mesotherapy with snake venom pharmacopuncture (SVP). A 23-year-old woman (Case 1) and a 47-year-old woman (Case 2) presented to the clinic with symptoms of pruritic rash, blis-ters, and itchiness on both the hands and the left hand, respectively. Both patients were diagnosed with hand eczema based on the physical examination of blisters and redness only on the hands. The patients underwent 1 month (Case 1) and 1 week (Case 2) of mesotherapy with SVP. After treatment, the lesions completely improved and did not recur at 1 year of follow-up. These outcomes suggest that mesotherapy with SVP may be effective for the resolution of hand eczema; however, further research is needed to confirm these findings.

The desire to maintain youth as long as it possible in modern society, especially among women of working age, is primarily due to the desire to be in demand, well-groomed and attractive. Currently, there are 5 main methods that contribute to improving the condition of the skin of the face, namely: the method using professional cosmetics, chemical peels, mesotherapy, treatment with an injection of botulinum toxin type A (BTA) and intradermal implants based on hyaluronic acid. The aim of the literature review was to analyze the latest scientific data on the possibility of botulinum therapy in cosmetology. Wrinkles of open areas of the body (primarily on the face and in the decollete) have a negative effect on the emotional background and quality of life of women. In this regard, recently there has been a significant increase in demand for aesthetic medicine services, one of the areas of which is botulinum therapy (BT). Botulinum toxin type A (BTA) is a powerful neurotoxin that inhibits the release of acetylcholine in the neuromuscular junction. Injections of small doses of botulinum toxin type A into targeted mimic muscles cause their relaxation, which smoothes the underlying layer of the skin, thereby regressing mimic wrinkles. Today, according to officially approved indications, it is used in cosmetology, botulinum therapy is used to correct mimic wrinkles in the upper third of the face, drooping corners of the mouth, in the complex correction of the face oval, in the treatment of axillary and palmar hyperhidrosis. Blocking a tear mediator like acetylcholine, not only the presynaptic membranes of neuromuscular synapses are rich, but also many anatomical structures, such as glandular tissue (sweat, other glands, etc.). This commonality of the mechanism of action on various physiological processes in our body allows us to make an assumption about the great potential of botulinum therapy in the treatment of a number of diseases associated with impaired neuromuscular conduction.

Intradermal therapy (mesotherapy) is a technique used to inject drugs into the surface layer of the skin. The intradermal micro deposit allows to modulate the kinetics of drugs, slowing down its absorption and prolonging the local mechanism of action. This technique is applied in the treatment of some forms of localized pain when a systemic drug-saving effect is useful, when it is necessary to synergize with other pharmacological or non-pharmacological thera-pies, when other therapies have failed or cannot be used.The purpose of our study was to evaluate the effect of a mixture with respect to its lower concentration. We also wanted to evaluate the number of sessions needed to reach the therapeutic goal (50% reduction in pain from baseline) in patients with acute or chronic neck pain.We analyzed retrospectively data from 62 patients with cervicobrachial pain treated with intradermal drugs. Group A received a mixture of drugs; group B received half the dose of drugs.Patients who received a lower concentration of drugs achieved similar results to those who received a higher dose. The therapeutic goal was achieved on average with 3.5 + 1.7 sessions on a weekly basis (min 1; max 9). Subjects in group A required 4+1.7 treatments (min 1; max 9), while subjects in group B required 3+1.5 treatments (min 1; max 7).Our study confirms that even a lower dose of drugs can induce a clinically useful result. This study confirms that the useful effect of mesotherapy is only partly due to the pharmacological action. Further randomized prospective studies are needed to standardize the technique in the various pain syndromes, but it is recommended to follow the guidelines of the Italian Society of Mesotherapy to ensure patients receive appropriate treatment.

Cheilitis is the most common mucocutaneous side effect of isotretinoin (ISO). Dexpanthenol (DXP) increases fibroblast proliferation and re-epithelialization in wound healing. We aimed to investigate the effect of DXP-mesotherapy in ISO-induced cheilitis in this study.This study was conducted on patients who had been using ISO (0.5-1 mg/kg/day) for at least 2 months. Twenty-five patients who administered DXP-mesotherapy (mesotherapy group) and 33 patients without the procedure (control group, only ointment) participated in this study. All patients were prescribed only hamamelis virginiana distillate in ointment form as a lip balm. The efficacy of the treatment was interpreted by the change in lip balm use frequency, quality of life, and Isotretinoin Cheilitis Grading Scale (ICGS).There was a statistically significant decrease in all ICGS-subgroups scores in the mesotherapy group after 1 month compared with the baseline (p = 0.001), although in the controls, erythema, crust, and fissure scores significantly increased (p = 0.001, p = 0.002).While there was no difference between the groups in terms of ICGS total scores at baseline, there was a significant difference after 1 month in favor of the mesotherapy group (p 0.001). In the mesotherapy group, lip balms were needed significantly less frequently and there was a significant improvement in quality of life compared with both the control group and at baseline after 1 month (both; p 0.001). On the other hand, the control patients suffered more from cheilitis and dryness than at baseline (p 0.001).Dexpanthenol-mesotherapy seems to be a safe, and so effective method in management of ISO-related cheilitis.

Relevance . Not only microvasculature and derma are involved in the involution processes. The involution also effects on the all components of skin resulting in its function and structure alterations. By this reason we can speak about the disturbances of microcirculatory tissue system. The aim of this work was a comparative assessment of cosmetic equipment (PDL, IPL), mesotherapy and external skin care therapy in cosmetology patients by the functional state of microcirculatory tissue system of facial skin. Materials and methods . 62 women after mesotherapy, equipment cosmetology and professional external therapy of facial skin were involved in the exploration. We used the laser Doppler flowmetry and laser fluorescence spectroscopy for assessment the microcirculation, lymph flow and the oxidative metabolism coenzymes. Results . Peripheral blood flow did not change significantly, as the lymph flow rate in the control and experimental groups. This study was aimed at evaluating the efficacy of Tranexamic Acid (TA) mesotherapy versus cysteamine 5% cream in the treatment of melasma. This single-blind, randomized clinical trial was conducted among 54 subjects between 2018 and 2019. Cysteamine 5% cream group was instructed to apply the cream on the melasma lesions 30 min before bed for 4 consecutive months. Conversely, 0.05 mL (4 mg/mL) TA mesotherapy was performed by a physician every 4 weeks until 2 months. The severity of melasma was evaluated using both Dermacatch® device and the modified Melasma Area Severity Index (mMASI). The most remarkable improvement rate was observed in the TA group at the third visit based on mMASI and Dermacatch® values at 47% and 15% in turn. The mMASI scores were substantially improved in both groups at the second visit (cysteamine vs TA 8.48 ± 2.34 and 7.03 ± 3.19; P = 0.359) and third visit (cysteamine vs TA 6.32 ± 2.11 and 5.52 ± 2.55; P = 0.952) as compared to baseline (cysteamine vs TA: 11.68 ± 2.70 and 10.43 ± 2.69). Dermacatch® values were significantly declined at the second and third visits (cysteamine vs TA 42.54 ± 12.84 and 38.75 ± 9.80, P = 0.365; 40.74 ± 12.61 and 36.17 ± 10.3, P = 0.123, respectively) compared with baseline (cysteamine vs TA 45.76 ± 13.41 and 42.41 ± 10.48), although the improvement rates between two groups were not significantly different. Findings suggest that none of the cysteamine and TA mesotherapy treatments measured by both mMASI and Dermacatch® methods have substantial advantages over the other; however, complications are less in the cysteamine than the TA mesotherapy group.

Introduction. Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is one of the most common degenerative diseases that lead to pain and disability. Oral NSAIDs are effective drugs used to alleviate symptoms in patients with KOA, but they have several important complications, especially in the elderly. In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness of mesotherapy on pain reduction and improvement of functioning in patients with KOA. Methods. Sixty-two patients with KOA, grade 2-3 of the Kellgren–Lawrence scale, were randomized into two groups: the mesotherapy group, in which two injections were applied with piroxicam at a 10-day interval, and the oral group, in which piroxicam was prescribed for 10 days. The patients were evaluated before the treatment and 2, 4, and 8 weeks after it using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Oxford Knee Scare (OKS), and Western Ontario McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC, Persian version). Results. There was no significant difference in demographic characteristics and baseline pain and function scores between the two groups. After 2, 4, and 8 weeks of follow-up, VAS, WOMAC, and OKS scores significantly improved in both groups (in the mesotherapy group: p value p value p value p value p value p value Conclusion. Mesotherapy is an effective and safe treatment modality in patients with mild-to-moderate KOA in the short term. This trial is registered with IRCT2017052434113N1.

Pain evaluation during local injections is a complex process. Injections cause patient's distress, especially when the target is a sensitive area such as scalp. Nonpharmacological methods as vibration before and during the procedure have been used to reduce pain. Mesotherapy has become a popular nonsurgical procedure for nonscarring alopecia, such as androgenetic alopecia (AGA) and alopecia areata (AA). Vibration has been successfully used in dermatological procedures, pediatrics, and dentistry. No study was found on vibration anesthesia during scalp mesotherapy. To analyze the effect of a vibration anesthetic device (VAD) during scalp mesotherapy on the patients' comfort.This is a randomized split-scalp study; thirty patients received mesotherapy with or without VAD on half of their scalp. Numerical rating scale (NRS) was used to measure self-reported pain. To test difference in means and medians in comparing device use and by treatment (AGA or AA), Student's t tests and Wilcoxon signed rank tests were used. Overall mean pain score on the no vibration-assisted side was 8.0 ± 1.0 while pain score for the vibration side was 2.3 ± 1.5, for AGA (P < .001) and 7.4 ± 1.2 and 2.1 ± 1.3, respectively, for AA (P < .001). Findings were similar for medians. No complications were found following procedure. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study analyzing the effect of VAD in patients undergoing scalp mesotherapy. The VAD technique was found to be safe, effective, simple, and suitable for scalp procedures.

Introduction Musculoskeletal pain such as low back pain (LBP) are routinely encountered in the ED and contribute to ED overcrowding. The aim of our study was to compare the efficiency of mesotherapy with systemic therapy in pain control in patients with lumbar disk herniation. Methods We conducted this prospective parallel randomized controlled trial with the patients admitted to the emergency department with low back pain related to herniated lumbar disk. Mesotherapy was performed to one group, while intravenous dexketoprofen was administered to the control group. Changes in pain intensity at 15th minute, 30th minute, 60th minute and 24th hours after treatment using Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), need to use analgesic drug within 24 h after treatment, and adverse effect of the treatment methods were compared between groups. Results The decreases in pain intensity were statistically significantly higher in mesotherapy group for all time intervals. The need to use analgesics was statistically significantly three fold higher in the systemic therapy group. There was no statistically significant difference in having any adverse effect between study groups during one-week follow-up period. Conclusions Changes in medical practices, from the systemic administration of NSAIDs to the minimally invasive techniques such as mesotherapy with potent efficacy and minimal side effects, may enhance the ability of EDs to meet the waiting time targets and improve patient's satisfaction.

Background: Fibromyalgia is the second most common disease encountered in rheumatology practice Aim: This study designed to assess the potential effect of mesotherapy in treatment of tender points in primary fibromyalgia (PFM) patients. Methods: Thirty PFM patients who fulfilled the American Colleague of Rheumatology 1990 criteria, joined this study. There are two main processes that induce skin aging: extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic aging is caused by environmental factors such as sun exposure, air pollution, smoking, and poor nutrition. Intrinsic aging reflects the genetic background especially in terms of cell viability and proliferation potential, and depends on time. It introduces unfavorable changes in the functioning of organs and in the external appearance of the body, especially visible on the skin. Wrinkles, discoloration and loss of facial contours can reduce the quality of everyday life and disrupt human social relationships. There are now a couple of theories of aging to explain this inevitable fact of being human like: genetic, Hayflick’s, mitochondrial, biochemical and protein impairments theories. Both surgical and non-surgical aesthetic procedures are used to maintain a beneficial appearance, rejuvenation and slow down skin aging. From year to year, public interest in the use of innovative anti-aging treatments increases, enabling the preservation of youthful appearance for a longer period than it results from the physiological life cycle. Non-surgical aesthetic treatments, delaying skin aging, activate natural mechanisms of cell renewal and accelerate their metabolism, stimulate the synthesis of fibroblasts to produce collagen, which is the main building element of the skin. Atrophic scars, a permanent complication of severe acne, have negative effect on psychology in adolescent. The treatment of atrophic scar is depended on types of scar and it is difficult to improve by a single treatment. Mesenchymal stem cell is a scientific approval for surgery scar treatment and wound healing. We present a case report of female presented with atrophic acne scar distributed on both cheeks. The case aims to prove that the combination of MSCs and aqueous human placenta extract (RGF&#174) contained bioactive therapeutic molecules obviously promoted the improvement of skin scar to reach the optimal outcomes. We first found that MSCs-contained human placenta extract solution combination subcision improves the atrophic acne scar and skin complexity by enhancement of skin cell regeneration.

As a minimally invasive procedure, mesotherapy has been used in the cosmetic field for half a century and gets favorable results in fat reduction, facial rejuvenation, and hair regrowth. So far, it has achieved some exciting progression in pattern hair loss (PHL), which bothers plenty of people and has cost billion dollars searching for more effective treatment. The aim of this study is to summarize the efficacy of mesotherapy treating PHL.Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science were searched until January 2021. All literature was evaluated according to established criteria.We got 336 studies from searched databases, and 12 studies were included after selection process. A total of 253 males and 274 females participated in 6 randomized control trials, 2 nonrandomized controlled trials, and 3 observational studies. Mesotherapy showed positive efficacy in all studies to a certain extent, and no significant side effect occurred.Mesotherapy demonstrated as an effective treatment for PHL. However, the sample size is not big enough, and studies about mesotherapy compared to other treatments are insufficient. Future research is required to claim more evidence.

Scalp injection with mesotherapy (LC cell hair essence) helps in anchoring hair follicles and might have good therapeutic efficacy and lower side effects than Botox in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA).To assess the trichoscopy and the clinical therapeutic response of LC hair essence serum injection vs. botulinum toxin (A) injection in the treatment of androgenetic alopecia.Sixty-two AGA patients were included in the present study. Group I consisted of 31 patients who were injected with 1 ml of LC hair essence serum diluted with 0.5 ml of 0.9% normal saline once weekly for 8 weeks, and Group II involved 31 patients who were injected with 50 units of botulinum toxin A. Trichoscopic examination and photo documentation were done for every case before starting treatment (baseline) and after treatment with monthly follow-up to the patients.There was a significant difference between baseline trichoscopy findings and at the end of sixth month in Botox group, and the difference was highly significant in LC group; there was a statistically significant increase in the frequency of side effects (irritation and headache) among Group II compared with that of Group I.Botox can induce significant results in the treatment of AGA with mild and tolerable side effects but with high cost, while LC hair serum exhibit excellent results with fewer side effects.

No significant side effects, or exacerbation of vitiligo were observed during or after treatment with NCTF 135 in the following 6 months (five patients) and 12 months (two patients).Discussion: Increasing the armamentarium of new treatments of vitiligo is important. Previous studies showed the effectiveness of oral and intramuscularly injected multivitamins in the treatment of vitiligo, explaining the results by the antioxidative qualities of the above. Resumo Introdução: a alopécia ligada a fatores hormonais androgênicos é algo que há muito tempo tem sido alvo de estudos e aplicações de conhecimento científico em todo mundo. Este padrão de perda capilar, principalmente ligada ao sexo masculino dispõe de terapias que atualmente se limitam à interrupção da queda de fios com leve progressão de crescimento em alguns casos. Neste tocante, uma nova técnica de microagulhamento, com ou sem terapias adjuvantes, associado a métodos já consagradas como minoxidil tem levado o tratamento desta alteração estética para melhores níveis de resultado. Objetivo: conduzir uma investigação sobre os resultados atuais de pesquisas que envolvam o microagulhamento associado ao uso de Minoxidil, plasma rico em plaquetas e/ou mesoterapia. Metodologia: foram feitas pesquisas no banco de dados da PubMed e Scielo em abril de 2021 buscando-se os termos “minoxidil AND microneedling”. Resultados e Discussões: os resultados obtidos têm convergido para a proposta de que a associação do método de rolagem (microagulhamento) com a aplicação tópica do vasodilatador (minoxidil) apresenta um padrão de crescimento capilar nunca alcançado pela terapia convencional disponível, e que, se acrescentar plasma rico em plaquetas e/ou soluções através da mesoterapia, os resultados podem ser ainda mais vantajosos. Conclusão: novos estudos são necessários para abranger as vertentes ainda não elucidadas para o tratamento da alopecia, contudo, os resultados até aqui obtidos são promissores para o sucesso da reposição capilar. This pattern of hair loss, mainly related to males, has therapies that are currently limited to interruption of hair loss with slight growth progression in some cases. In this regard, a new microneedling technique, with or without adjuvant therapies, associated with well-established methods such as minoxidil has led the treatment of this esthetic alteration to better levels of results. Objective: to conduct an investigation into the current results of research involving microneedling associated with the use of Minoxidil, platelet-rich plasma and/or mesotherapy. Methodology: searches were conducted in the PubMed and Scielo database in April 2021, searching for the terms “minoxidil AND microneedling”. Results and Discussions: the results obtained have converged to the proposal that the association of the rolling method (microneedling) with the topical application of a vasodilator (minoxidil) presents a pattern of hair growth never achieved by the available conventional therapy, and that, if added platelet-rich plasma and/or solutions through mesotherapy, the results can be even more advantageous. Conclusion: further studies are needed to cover aspects that have not yet been elucidated for the treatment of alopecia, however, the results obtained so far are promising for the success of hair replacement. Background Although energy devices and botulinum toxin A (BTX-A) can alleviate age-related laxity, ptosis, and platysmal bands, they have limited efficacy on horizontal neck lines. Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy, safety, and subject satisfaction of a combined treatment of non–cross-linked hyaluronic acid (HA) compound filling plus mesotherapy for the correction of horizontal neck lines, in comparison with BTX-A. Methods This multicenter, randomized, evaluator-blinded, prospective study enrolled female patients with moderate-to-severe horizontal neck lines corrected with either 2 or 3 sessions of of non–cross-linked HA compound filling plus mesotherapy or 1 session of BTX-A injection. Improvement of the neck lines grades, Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS), patient satisfaction, and adverse events (AEs) were evaluated and compared at 1, 3, 6, and 10 months after the final treatment. Results Twenty-five patients received HA filling plus mesotherapy and 23 received BTX-A injection. Compared with BTX-A, the HA compound filling plus mesotherapy significantly improved the horizontal neck lines grades on all follow-up visits (P = 0.000). Cases of different baseline grades (2, 2.5, and 3) demonstrated similar outcomes. The GAIS and patients’ satisfaction ratings were significantly higher for the HA filling plus mesotherapy treatment group (P = 0.000).
