The article discusses the results of several studies conducted by five scholars which determine the impact of the economic condition on marriage and divorce rates. Findings of one scholar reveal that marriage is much more driven by emotions and the overall effect of recession upon marital relationships cannot be predicted since it depends on how the couples handle such catastrophe. It also indicates that divorce rate has been declining even when the economy was thriving.
