224. Vis‐NIR Light‐Responsive Photocatalytic Activity of C3N4−Ag−Ag2O Heterojunction‐Decorated Carbon‐fiber Cloth as Efficient Filter‐Membrane‐Shaped Photocatalyst.

Abstract

C3N4‐decorated carbon‐fiber (CF) cloth has been demonstrated to be a filter‐membrane‐shaped photocatalyst for degrading flowing wastewater, but it can be excited only by visible light (λ<450 nm). To extend the photoresponse range to NIR region, herein we have designed and prepared C3N4−Ag−Ag2O heterojunctions on CF cloth. The growth of C3N4 nanosheets (thickness: 20–30 nm) on CF cloth is realized by a thermal condensation method, and then Ag/Ag2O nanoparticles (10–20 nm) are deposited on CF/C3N4 cloth by a chemical precipitation method. CF/C3N4/Ag/Ag2O cloth exhibits excellent flexibility and strong photoabsorption in a broad Vis‐NIR region (400–1400 nm), wider than CF/C3N4 (absorption edge: 450 nm). Under the irradiation of 808 nm or 980 nm laser, CF/C3N4/Ag/Ag2O cloth can remove 83 %/41 % AO7 and 72 %/38 % 4‐CP in 140 min respectively, significantly higher than those (33 %/13 % AO7 and 31 %/10 % 4‐CP) by CF/Ag/Ag2O cloth and those (3 %/1 % AO7 and 0 %/1 % 4‐CP) by CF/C3N4 cloth. Interestingly, when CF/C3N4/Ag/Ag2O cloth is used as the filter‐membrane to photo‐degrade the flowing wastewater (AO7, 20 mg L−1, rate: 1.5 L h−1), the removal efficiency of AO7 reaches up 97 % after 8 grade reactors. Therefore, CF/C3N4/Ag/Ag2O cloth can be used as an efficient filter‐membrane‐shaped photocatalyst with NIR photoresponse. At a junction! Abstract

In order to explore the role of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in the pathogenesis of renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis, 48 Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham-operated and unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) group. On the postoperative day 1, 3, 7 and 14, the rats were killed and the kidneys were removed. The renal tubulointerstitial injury index was evaluated according to the MASSON staining. The mRNA levels of CTGF, transforming growth factor-beta1 (TGF-beta1), collagen I (col I), and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) were detected using reverse transcriptional-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Immunohistochemistry was performed to evaluate the protein expression of the above factors, and the relations among them were analyzed. Quantitative expression of CTGF protein in the kidneys was also assessed using Western blot. The results showed that TGF-beta1 mRNA level was increased at first day after UUO, followed by a marked elevation of CTGF mRNA level, which began to increase 3 days after UUO (P0.01). With the progression of the disease, the mRNA expression of CTGF, col I and PAI-1 was increased progressively. Immunohistochemistry revealed that the CTGF protein expression was significantly increased in fibrotic areas and tubular epithelial cells 3 days after UUO. On the post-UUO day 7, the protein level of CTGF was positively related to the renal tubulointerstitial injury index (r = 0.62, P0.01), the expression of TGF-beta1 (r = 0.85, P0.01), col I (r = 0.78, P0.01), and PAI-1 (r = 0.76, P0.01). Upon Western blot analysis, CTGF protein expression began to increase 3 days after UUO, and appeared progressively throughout the time course (P0.01, as compared with sham-operated group). It is concluded that CTGF can be induced by TGF-beta and mediate various profibrotic actions of this cytokine, such as increasing extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis and decreasing ECM degradation. The increased expression of CTGF may play a crucial role in the development and progression of tubulointerstitial fibrosis.

Abstract

The anaerobic bioreactor applies the principles of biotechnology and microbiology, and nowadays it has been used widely in the wastewater treatment plants due to their high efficiency, low energy use, and green energy generation. Advantages and disadvantages of anaerobic process were shown, and three main characteristics of anaerobic bioreactor (AB), namely, inhomogeneous system, time instability, and space instability were also discussed in this work. For high efficiency of wastewater treatment, the process parameters of anaerobic digestion, such as temperature, pH, Hydraulic retention time (HRT), Organic Loading Rate (OLR), and sludge retention time (SRT) were introduced to take into account the optimum conditions for living, growth, and multiplication of bacteria. The inner components, which can improve SRT, and even enhance mass transfer, were also explained and have been divided into transverse inner components, longitudinal inner components, and biofilm-packing material. At last, the newly developed special inner components were discussed and found more efficient and productive.

Abstract

TEM studies on domain structure in PbTiO3 thin film show that the domain density depends on the grain size and indirectly on the film thickness. The mobility of domain walls (DWs) has been investigated by in situ TEM and mechanical dissipation techniques, and its contribution to the permittivity (ϵ) and coercive field (Ec) was analyzed. The weak pinning of DWs in SrBi2Ta2O9 (SBT) was further confirmed by experimental results of the voltage and frequency dependence of the fatigue as well as retention.

Abstract

Electric measurements demonstrate that annealing condition, applied voltage and switching frequency have influence on the fatigue of SBT thin films. The SBT thin films annealed in air show more polarization degradation than those annealed in oxygen. The fatigue of SBT thin films increases with decreasing applied voltage and switching frequency, and the suppressed polarization caused at lower switching voltage can be recovered by switching at higher voltage. The fatigue mechanism is discussed in this paper.

Abstract

In this work, a new nano-Bi2MoO6/diatomite composite photocatalyst was successfully synthesized by a facile solvothermal method. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and UV-vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy (DRS) were employed to investigate the morphology, crystal structure, and optical properties. It was shown that nanometer-scaled Bi2MoO6 crystals were well-deposited on the surface of Bi2MoO6/diatomite. The photocatalytic activity of the obtained samples was evaluated by the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under the visible light (λ > 420 nm) irradiation. Moreover, trapping experiments were performed to investigate the possible photocatalytic reaction mechanism. The results showed that the nano-Bi2MoO6/diatomite composite with the mass ratio of Bi2MoO6 to diatomaceous earth of 70% exhibited the highest activity, and the RhB degradation efficiency reached 97.6% within 60 min. The main active species were revealed to be h+ and•O2−. As a photocatalytic reactor, its recycling performance showed a good stability and reusability.
