For many decades, cancer treatment has been strongly directed toward the development of cytotoxic and cytostatic drugs, quite often leading to disappointing results due to the inter- and intra-tumoral heterogeneity. Lately, this intra-cellular look has given way to the understanding of the tumor microenvironment, thus enabling modification of the immunological dynamics between tumor cells and their host. An era of new drugs aiming to unlock the host immune system against tumor cells is steadily increasing. Strategies involving adoptive cell therapy, therapeutic vaccines, immune checkpoint inhibitors and so on have provided spectacular clinical responses and increased survival in previously refractory settings and "hard-to-treat" cancers. Based on a comprehensive search in the main scientific databases, annals of recent renowned oncology congresses and platforms of ongoing trials, the clinical pharmacology characteristics of the main classes of immunotherapeutic agents, as well as the new treatment strategies related to immunotherapy in solid tumors, are carefully discussed throughout this review.

Homeopatia pode ser utilizada na avicultura de corte para incremento zootécnico em substituição ao uso de promotores de crescimento antimicrobianos. Objetivou-se avaliar rendimento e qualidade das carnes de animais submetidos ao tratamento homeopático por 42 dias. Análises de rendimento de carcaça, peito, coxa e sobrecoxa foram realizadas nas aves abatidas e amostras do peito foram separadas para determinação de pH, cor, textura e perdas de água por cocção. Investigou-se possíveis alterações do armazenamento da carne sob refrigeração por 24 horas e escaldagem antes da desossa. Resultados demonstraram vantagens do aditivo nutricional apenas para valores de rendimentos de coxa e perdas de água por cocção em relação ao controle (carnes in natura). Armazenamento refrigerado evidenciou alterações no pH, parâmetros L e a (cor). Escaldagem também alterou-se, promovendo clareamento do produto, porém sem efeitos entre homeopático e controle. O suporte teórico inclui a revisão de abordagens híbridas em geral e da abordagem CLIL Invertida em particular; da metodologia de ensino webquest e dos princípios da educação linguística para o ensino/aprendizado de inglês como L2. A pergunta de pesquisa que guia este estudo é: De que modo as abordagens híbrida e CLIL Invertida, concretizadas por meio de webquests, podem favorecer o desenvolvimento da educação linguística? A metodologia de pesquisa é de cunho misto e também se insere na perspectiva da metodologia de desenvolvimento. Os dados provêm de um questionário aplicado a professores em formação, alunos da disciplina de Estágio Supervisionado I, de uma universidade federal do sudeste e quatro webquests produzidas pelos professores em formação durante essa disciplina. A análise objetivou verificar o potencial da metodologia webquest para a implementação das abordagens híbrida e CLIL Invertida, e de que modo essas abordagens podem favorecer o desenvolvimento da educação linguística. De forma geral, os resultados demonstram a preferência dos professores em formação pelo formato tradicional de aulas presenciais e a prevalência do ensino de formas linguísticas em detrimento da problematização de temas de interesse social, ainda que possamos observar um certo grau de criticidade em relação às concepções simplistas desses temas encontradas nos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais. Concluímos que a abordagem híbrida e a CLIL Invertida, concretizadas nas webquests analisadas, proporcionam parcialmente o desenvolvimento de uma educação linguística. Only a small proportion of HPV+ women develop virus-associated lesions and cervical cancer, suggesting that other factors are involved in HPV+ keratinocyte transformation. Immune response plays an important role in clearing HPV infection, and host genetic variants resulting in defective immune response have been associated with virus persistence and/or cervical cancer. Considering that genetic variations in inflammasome genes were previously associated with viral infection and cancer development, the present study investigates selected single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in inflammasome genes as a possible risk factor for HPV infection susceptibility and/or for progression to cervical cancer.12 SNPs in seven inflammasome-related genes (NLRP1, NLRP3, NLRP6, CARD8, IL1B, IL18, TNFAIP3) were genotyped in a Brazilian HPV+ case/control cohort (n = 246/310). Multivariate analysis was performed in case/control as well as in HPV+ women stratified by the presence or severity of histologic lesion, HPV persistence, and type of virus.IL1B rs1143643 was associated with protection against HPV infection in case/control analysis. NLRP1 rs11651270 plays a protection role against HPV persistence and/or oncogenesis. NLRP3 rs10754558 and IL18 rs1834481 exert a beneficial role against HPV persistence. NLRP3 rs10754558 variant resulted significantly associated with a lower risk to be infected with a high-risk HPV.Our findings for the first time demonstrated that inflammasome genetics could affect HPV/host interaction in terms of virus susceptibility as well as of virus/persistence and cervical cancer progression. After a new and brief euphoria in the years of the second war with the battle of the rubber, the city continued it???s state of inertia, that would only end with the Free Trade Zone, that would put it again in the course of the progress. This conception, the result of an official historiography, however, ends up hiding various processes and realities of urban space, homogenizing the subjects and relegating the shadows to different experiences, to live and to work, shaped in this context. In this sense, the present dissertation tries to approach one of the many categories of workers, the coal workers, who composed the informal work in the city Manaus in that period. These workers dealt with a product which was fundamental to the economy of the country and very present in the daily life of the city at the time, charcoal, whether in the domestic environment, factories, power plants and other spaces. Therefore, from the oral reports of ancient coal workers, from newspapers, official documents and other sources, we intend to understand these subjects in their multiple dimensions and experiences of living and working, that are often intertwined in their own daily life and exercised simultaneously to other activities. O per??odo compreendido entre o decl??nio da economia gom??fera, por volta de 1920, e a instala????o da Zona Franca de Manaus em 1967 ?? tido tradicionalmente na historiografia local como uma ??poca de estagna????o, crise e paralisia econ??mica na cidade. Ap??s uma nova e breve euforia nos anos da segunda guerra com a batalha da borracha, a cidade continuou seu estado de in??rcia que s?? findaria com a Zona Franca, que a colocaria novamente nos rumos do progresso. Essa concep????o, fruto de uma historiografia oficial, no entanto, acaba por ocultar diversos processos e realidades do espa??o urbano, homogeneizando os sujeitos e relegando ??s sombras diversas experi??ncias, de viver e trabalhar, moldadas nesse contexto. Nesse sentido, a presente disserta????o procura abordar uma das muitas categorias de trabalhadores, os carvoeiros, que compunham o trabalho informal na cidade Manaus nesse per??odo. Esses trabalhadores lidavam com um produto fundamental para a economia do pa??s e muito presente no cotidiano da cidade na ??poca, o carv??o vegetal, seja no ambiente dom??stico, seja nas f??bricas, usinas e outros espa??os. There is increasing concern regarding the use of antimicrobials in food animals and the possible implications in human health, such as antibiotic resistance in pathogens, highlighting the importance of judicious use of antimicrobials in production animals. Specific aims were to: 1) evaluate the effect of antibiotics on cure of clinical mastitis; 2) use high throughput sequencing to assess the microbiome of milk samples from a mastitic quarter and compare it to the microbiome of ipsilateral healthy quarter of cows diagnosed with clinical mastitis caused by either a Gram-negative pathogen or with no bacterial growth on conventional aerobic culture; and 3) evaluate the over-time effect of prolonged antibiotic therapy on the microbiome profile of mastitic milk., American Association of Bovine Practitioners Proceedings of the Annual Conference, 2016

[EN] Several decision support systems have been developed and many of them are focused on efficient use of water and energy resources. These include the Irrigation Advisory Service, combined with the use of benchmarking techniques and energy audits. In Brazil, the pioneer project called the Irrigation Advisory Service has been developed in Baixo Acaraú irrigation district, located in the north-east of Brazil. The main goal of the project is to transfer information about irrigation to farmers. The aim of this paper is to present the results of the Irrigation Advisory Service activities in Baixo Acaraú irrigation district, during the 2011, 2012 and 2013 irrigation seasons. Moreover, the results from the estimation of several performance indicators and from energy: audits carried out are shown as a complementary activity developed by the Irrigation Advisory Service. At the beginning of the irrigation season, on-field emission of uniformity was close to 67%. During the following evaluations, after recommendations of the Irrigation Advisory Service about the necessity of corrections to the systems, emission of uniformity reached 85%. With regard to the use of performance indicators, some problems relating to maintenance of equipment were noted, resulting in malfunctioning pumps. Parmi ces outils, on trouve le service de conseil en irrigation, les techniques de benchmarking et les audits énergétiques. Au Brésil, le projet pionner a été le service de conseil en irrigation. Ce projet a été développé dans le district d‘irrigation ’Baixo Acaraú‘ au nord-est du Brésil. L'objectif principal du projet est la diffusion des informations sur l‘irrigation aux agriculteurs. L'objectif de ce travail est la présentation des résultats obtenus avec le service de conseil à l'irrigation dans le district d'irrigation 'Baixo Acaraú' pendant les campagnes agricoles 2011, 2012 et 2013. Plusieurs d'activités complémentaires sont aussi décrits: les résultats de différents indicateurs de performance et des audits énergétiques. Au début de la campagne d'irrigation, l'uniformité d'émission sur le terrain a été proche au 67%. Après les conseils du service de conseil de l'irrigation sur l'amélioration des systèmes, l'uniformité d'émission a été 85% pendant les suivantes évaluations. Certains problèmes d'entretien d'équipements, qui ont provoqué le mauvais fonctionnement des pompes, ont été détectés à partir des indicateurs. This work describes the physicochemical characterization of the fruit pulp oil of Caryocar coriaceum (Wittm), “pequi.” The chemical composition was assessed by GLC, which demonstrated the following fatty acid contents: oleic (55.79%), palmitic (34.18%), heptadecenoic (5.86%), linoleic (1.80%), stearic (1.73%), eicosenoic (0.37%) and palmitoleic (0.27%). The vibrational spectroscopy results were typical of an edible oil, and are in accordance with the high unsaturated fatty acid content. Physical properties such as water content, acidity, peroxide index, saponification index, relative density, viscosity and refraction index are reported for the first time for this species. Pequi fruits have a high nutritional value, and are rich in protein and vitamins. In addition, their composition includes essential fatty acids, which accounts for the popular use of the fruit oil for antioxidant and antiinflammatory activity. There is great interest in extending the use of this natural product by exploiting the combined social, economic and therapeutic values of its derivatives.El presente trabajo describe la caracterización físico-química del aceite de la pulpa de Caryocar coriaceum (Wittm), “pequi”. La composición química fue evaluada por GLC, que mostró el siguiente contenido de ácido graso: oleico (55,79%), palmítico (34,18%), heptadecenoico (5,86%), linoleico (1,80%), esteárico (1,73%), eicosenoico (0,37%) y palmitoleico (0,27%). Los resultados de la espectroscopia vibracional fueron típicos de un aceite comestible, y están en concordancia con el alto contenido de ácido graso insaturado. Las propiedades físicas tales como el contenido de agua, la acidez, índice de peróxido, índice de saponificación, densidad relativa, viscosidad e índice de refracción se presentan por primera vez para esta especie. Los frutos de pequi tienen un alto valor nutricional, y son ricos en proteínas y vitaminas; además su composición incluye ácidos grasos esenciales. El aceite de la fruta tiene un uso popular debido a su actividad antioxidante y antiinflamatoria. Hay un gran interés en extender el uso de este producto natural aprovechando los valores sociales, económicos y terapéuticos de sus derivados.
