Abstract: The main task of the Top Tracker detector of the neutrino reactor experiment Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is to reconstruct and extrapolate atmospheric muon tracks down to the central detector. This muon tracker will help to evaluate the contribution of the cosmogenic background to the signal. The Top Tracker is located above JUNO's water Cherenkov Detector and Central Detector, covering about 60% of the surface above them. The JUNO Top Tracker is constituted by the decommissioned OPERA experiment Target Tracker modules. The technology used consists in walls of two planes of plastic scintillator strips, one per transverse direction. Wavelength shifting fibres collect the light signal emitted by the scintillator strips and guide it to both ends where it is read by multianode photomultiplier tubes. Compared to the OPERA Target Tracker, the JUNO Top Tracker uses new electronics able to cope with the high rate produced by the high rock radioactivity compared to the one in Gran Sasso underground laboratory. Abstract: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), the first multi-kton liquid scintillator detector, which is under construction in China, will have a unique potential to perform a real-time measurement of solar neutrinos well below the few MeV threshold typical for Water Cherenkov detectors. JUNO's large target mass and excellent energy resolution are prerequisites for reaching unprecedented levels of precision. In this paper, we provide estimation of the JUNO sensitivity to 7Be, pep, and CNO solar neutrinos that can be obtained via a spectral analysis above the 0.45 MeV threshold. This study is performed assuming different scenarios of the liquid scintillator radiopurity, ranging from the most opti mistic one corresponding to the radiopurity levels obtained by the Borexino experiment, up to the minimum requirements needed to perform the neutrino mass ordering determination with reactor antineutrinos - the main goal of JUNO. Our study shows that in most scenarios, JUNO will be able to improve the current best measurements on 7Be, pep, and CNO solar neutrino fluxes. We also perform a study on the JUNO capability to detect periodical time variations in the solar neutrino flux, such as the day-night modulation induced by neutrino flavor regeneration in Earth, and the modulations induced by temperature changes driven by helioseismic waves.

Abstract: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a large neutrino detector currently under construction in China. Thanks to the tight requirements on its optical and radio-purity properties, it will be able to perform leading measurements detecting terrestrial and astrophysical neutrinos in a wide energy range from tens of keV to hundreds of MeV. A key requirement for the success of the experiment is an unprecedented 3% energy resolution, guaranteed by its large active mass (20 kton) and the use of more than 20,000 20-inch photo-multiplier tubes (PMTs) acquired by high-speed, high-resolution sampling electronics located very close to the PMTs. As the Front-End and Read-Out electronics is expected to continuously run underwater for 30 years, a reliable readout acquisition system capable of handling the timestamped data stream coming from the Large-PMTs and permitting to simultaneously monitor and operate remotely the inaccessible electronics had to be developed. In this contribution, the firmware and hardware implementation of the IPbus based readout protocol will be presented, together with the performances measured on final modules during the mass production of the electronics.

204. Dialogue State Distillation Network with Inter-slot Contrastive Learning for Dialogue State Tracking

Abstract: In task-oriented dialogue systems, Dialogue State Tracking (DST) aims to extract users' intentions from the dialogue history. Currently, most existing approaches suffer from error propagation and are unable to dynamically select relevant information when utilizing previous dialogue states. Moreover, the relations between the updates of different slots provide vital clues for DST. However, the existing approaches rely only on predefined graphs to indirectly capture the relations. In this paper, we propose a Dialogue State Distillation Network (DSDN) to utilize relevant information of previous dialogue states and migrate the gap of utilization between training and testing. Thus, it can dynamically exploit previous dialogue states and avoid introducing error propagation simultaneously. Further, we propose an inter-slot contrastive learning loss to effectively capture the slot co-update relations from dialogue context. Experiments are conducted on the widely used MultiWOZ 2.0 and MultiWOZ 2.1 datasets. 205. Superconductivity in Li8Au electride

Abstract: Located at crystal voids, interstitial anion electrons (IAEs) have diverse topologies, which may be tuned to achieve new properties. Elucidating the role of IAEs in electron-phonon coupling (EPC), and using it to design new electride superconductors, leads to the current prediction of superconducting Li8Au at high pressure. We suggest that the occurence of high-temperature superconductivity in electrides requires high-symmetry structures with hydrogen-like cages, an electron acceptor element to balance charges, and isolated IAEs coupled with medium-frequency vibrations. The uniquely designed Li8Au electride has a NaCl-type (B1) lattice, with atomic Au and cubic Li8 cages as bases. Isolated IAEs are formed at the cage centers, with extra charges taken up by Au. These octahedrally coordinated IAEs have a p-orbital-like attribute and are strongly coupled with atomic vibrations in the Li8 cages. The strong EPC in Li8Au results in a calculated Tc of 73.1 K at 250 GPa, which is the highest Tc reported to date for all the electrides. A slight substitutional Pt doping can enhance the Tc of Li8Au to exceed liquid nitrogen temperature., Comment: 7 Pages, 3 Figures

Abstract: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a multi-purpose, large size, liquid scintillator experiment under construction in China. JUNO will perform leading measurements detecting neutrinos from different sources (reactor, terrestrial and astrophysical neutrinos) covering a wide energy range (from 200 keV to several GeV). This paper focuses on the design and development of a test protocol for the 20-inch PMT underwater readout electronics, performed in parallel to the mass production line. In a time period of about ten months, a total number of 6950 electronic boards were tested with an acceptance yield of 99.1%.

Abstract: The solute carrier 17 family transports diverse organic anions using two distinct modes of coupling to a source of energy. Transporters that package glutamate and nucleotide into secretory vesicles for regulated release by exocytosis are driven by membrane potential but subject to allosteric regulation by H+ and Cl-. Other solute carrier 17 members including the lysosomal sialic acid exporter couple the flux of organic anion to cotransport of H+. To begin to understand how similar proteins can perform such different functions, we have studied Escherichia coli DgoT, a H+/galactonate cotransporter. A recent structure of DgoT showed many residues contacting D-galactonate, and we now find that they do not tolerate even conservative substitutions. In contrast, the closely related lysosomal H+/sialic acid cotransporter Sialin tolerates similar mutations, consistent with its recognition of diverse substrates with relatively low affinity. We also find that despite coupling to H+, DgoT transports more rapidly but with lower apparent affinity at high pH. Indeed, membrane potential can drive uptake, indicating electrogenic transport and suggesting a H+:galactonate stoichiometry >1. Located in a polar pocket of the N-terminal helical bundle, Asp46 and Glu133 are each required for net flux by DgoT, but the E133Q mutant exhibits robust exchange activity and rescues exchange by D46N, suggesting that these two residues operate in series to translocate protons. E133Q also shifts the pH sensitivity of exchange by DgoT, supporting a central role for the highly conserved TM4 glutamate in H+ coupling by DgoT.

217. Quantum chip design optimization and automation in superconducting coupler architecture

Abstract: Superconducting coupler architecture demonstrates great potential for scalable and high-performance quantum processors, yet how to design efficiently and automatically 'Qubit-Coupler-Qubit (QCQ)' of high performance from the layout perspective remains obscure. In this work, this issue is studied for the first time resulting in three key findings. Firstly, we acquire the crucial zero-coupling condition that is only dependent on the geometric design of the layout. Secondly, the upper bound of the qubit-qubit effective coupling is found as $0.0822~ \omega_l/\beta_s^2$ which surprisingly depends only on the artificially pre-decided quantities $\omega_l, \beta_s$ instead of specific layouts. Thirdly, we propose an optimal layout design procedure to reach the very upper bound, leading to efficient and high-performance layout design. The effectiveness of the procedure has been demonstrated scrupulously using electromagnetic simulation experiments. As a stirring application, we report a state-of-the-art 3202 um long-range and scalable QCQ layout that is especially crucial to quantum error correction. Our work provides practical guides to optimize the performance of the existing coupler architecture, find out novel layouts, and further advance the progress of quantum chip design automation., Comment: 22 pages, 6 figures. Abstract: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a large liquid scintillator detector designed to explore many topics in fundamental physics. In this paper, the potential on searching for proton decay in $p\to \bar\nu K^+$ mode with JUNO is investigated.The kaon and its decay particles feature a clear three-fold coincidence signature that results in a high efficiency for identification. Moreover, the excellent energy resolution of JUNO permits to suppress the sizable background caused by other delayed signals. Based on these advantages, the detection efficiency for the proton decay via $p\to \bar\nu K^+$ is 36.9% with a background level of 0.2 events after 10 years of data taking. The estimated sensitivity based on 200 kton-years exposure is $9.6 \times 10^{33}$ years, competitive with the current best limits on the proton lifetime in this channel., Comment: 14 pages, 12 figures, an author added

Abstract: The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is a large neutrino detector currently under construction in China. JUNO will be able to study the neutrino mass ordering and to perform leading measurements detecting terrestrial and astrophysical neutrinos in a wide energy range, spanning from 200 keV to several GeV. 220. DiaASQ : A Benchmark of Conversational Aspect-based Sentiment Quadruple Analysis

Abstract: The rapid development of aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA) within recent decades shows great potential for real-world society. The current ABSA works, however, are mostly limited to the scenario of a single text piece, leaving the study in dialogue contexts unexplored. To bridge the gap between fine-grained sentiment analysis and conversational opinion mining, in this work, we introduce a novel task of conversational aspect-based sentiment quadruple analysis, namely DiaASQ, aiming to detect the quadruple of target-aspect-opinion-sentiment in a dialogue. We manually construct a large-scale high-quality DiaASQ dataset in both Chinese and English languages. We deliberately develop a neural model to benchmark the task, which advances in effectively performing end-to-end quadruple prediction, and manages to incorporate rich dialogue-specific and discourse feature representations for better cross-utterance quadruple extraction. 221. TOE: A Grid-Tagging Discontinuous NER Model Enhanced by Embedding Tag/Word Relations and More Fine-Grained Tags

Abstract: So far, discontinuous named entity recognition (NER) has received increasing research attention and many related methods have surged such as hypergraph-based methods, span-based methods, and sequence-to-sequence (Seq2Seq) methods, etc. However, these methods more or less suffer from some problems such as decoding ambiguity and efficiency, which limit their performance. Recently, grid-tagging methods, which benefit from the flexible design of tagging systems and model architectures, have shown superiority to adapt for various information extraction tasks. In this paper, we follow the line of such methods and propose a competitive grid-tagging model for discontinuous NER. We call our model TOE because we incorporate two kinds of Tag-Oriented Enhancement mechanisms into a state-of-the-art (SOTA) grid-tagging model that casts the NER problem into word-word relationship prediction. First, we design a Tag Representation Embedding Module (TREM) to force our model to consider not only word-word relationships but also word-tag and tag-tag relationships. Concretely, we construct tag representations and embed them into TREM, so that TREM can treat tag and word representations as queries/keys/values and utilize self-attention to model their relationships. On the other hand, motivated by the Next-Neighboring-Word (NNW) and Tail-Head-Word (THW) tags in the SOTA model, we add two new symmetric tags, namely Previous-Neighboring-Word (PNW) and Head-Tail-Word (HTW), to model more fine-grained word-word relationships and alleviate error propagation from tag prediction. In the experiments of three benchmark datasets, namely CADEC, ShARe13 and ShARe14, our TOE model pushes the SOTA results by about 0.83%, 0.05% and 0.66% in F1, demonstrating its effectiveness.

222. Entity-centered Cross-document Relation Extraction

Abstract: Relation Extraction (RE) is a fundamental task of information extraction, which has attracted a large amount of research attention. Previous studies focus on extracting the relations within a sentence or document, while currently researchers begin to explore cross-document RE. However, current cross-document RE methods directly utilize text snippets surrounding target entities in multiple given documents, which brings considerable noisy and non-relevant sentences. Moreover, they utilize all the text paths in a document bag in a coarse-grained way, without considering the connections between these text paths.In this paper, we aim to address both of these shortages and push the state-of-the-art for cross-document RE. First, we focus on input construction for our RE model and propose an entity-based document-context filter to retain useful information in the given documents by using the bridge entities in the text paths. Second, we propose a cross-document RE model based on cross-path entity relation attention, which allow the entity relations across text paths to interact with each other. We compare our cross-document RE method with the state-of-the-art methods in the dataset CodRED. 223. Ultrafast Electron Diffraction with MeV Electron Source from a Laser Wakefield Accelerator

Abstract: MeV ultrafast electron diffraction (UED) is a widely used technology for ultrafast structural dynamic studies of matters in numerous areas. The development of laser wakefield accelerator (LWFA) envisions great potential of advanced all-optical electron source based on LWFA in UED applications. We experimentally demonstrated that an LWFA-based device with a miniaturized permanent magnet beamline can generate and manipulate electron beams suitable for UED. In the beam transmission, the LWFA electron beams with intrinsic short duration stretch due to energy spread and then are compressed by a following double bend achromat. The optimized double bend achromat can make the beamline isochronous such that the arrival time jitter induced by the shot-to-shot energy fluctuation can be eliminated, and allow the advantage of the natural laser-beam synchronization for LWFAs to emerge. With the energy filtering, the beam energy spread can be reduced to 3% (FWHM) while a sufficient amount of charge (11.9 fC) per bunch for diffraction is retained. Start-to-end simulations showed that the bunch length reaches ~30 fs (rms) with the same experimental configuration. Clear single-shot and multi-shot diffraction patterns of single-crystalline gold samples are obtained and the derived lattice constant agrees excellently with the real value. Our proof-of-principle experiments open the door to the detection of ultrafast structural dynamics using MeV LWFA beams, and pave the way for the UED applications with sub-10-fs temporal resolution., Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: The physics potential of detecting $^8$B solar neutrinos will be exploited at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), in a model independent manner by using three distinct channels of the charged-current (CC), neutral-current (NC) and elastic scattering (ES) interactions. Due to the largest-ever mass of $^{13}$C nuclei in the liquid-scintillator detectors and the {expected} low background level, $^8$B solar neutrinos would be observable in the CC and NC interactions on $^{13}$C for the first time. By virtue of optimized event selections and muon veto strategies, backgrounds from the accidental coincidence, muon-induced isotopes, and external backgrounds can be greatly suppressed. Excellent signal-to-background ratios can be achieved in the CC, NC and ES channels to guarantee the $^8$B solar neutrino observation. From the sensitivity studies performed in this work, we show that JUNO, with ten years of data, can reach the {1$\sigma$} precision levels of 5%, 8% and 20% for the $^8$B neutrino flux, $\sin^2\theta_{12}$, and $\Delta m^2_{21}$, respectively. It would be unique and helpful to probe the details of both solar physics and neutrino physics. Abstract: Lithosphere is an outer rigid part of the terrestrial body, usually consisting of the crust and part of the mantle. Characterizing the physical properties of the lithosphere is critical in investigating its evolution. By modeling mass-related loads within the lithosphere, physical parameters such as the elastic thickness of the lithosphere can be inferred from gravity and topography data. In the impact basin region, however, the low topography-gravity correlation and the sharp change in admittance from negative to positive within a narrow spheric harmonic degree make this model inapplicable. In this work, we incorporated mantle uplift structures commonly formed in impact basin regions into the lithospheric loading model. The crustal-mantle boundary of this mantle uplift structure is inferred from the global crustal thickness model. The gravity anomaly of the deflected lithosphere is calculated at the surface and crustal-mantle boundary, then the theoretical gravity admittance and correlation can be compared with the observed data. We sampled parameters using this mantle loading model at Argyre and Isidis basin on Mars with a novel crustal thickness model from the InSight mission. Our work suggests that proper modelling of the impact-induced load is critical to understanding the physical properties of the planetary lithosphere in the basin region.

226. Antibacterial activity and mechanism of Stevia extract against antibiotic-resistant Escherichia coli by interfering with the permeability of the cell wall and the membrane

Abstract: Natural plant-derived compounds with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity have become an effective strategy against multidrug-resistant bacteria. The present study was designed to compare the antibacterial activity of six chlorogenic acid (CA) isomers extracted from stevia and investigated the underlying antibacterial mechanisms involved. The results indicated that isochlorogenic acid C (ICAC) exhibited the strongest antibacterial activity against the tested bacteria, especially E. coli, at a 2 mg/mL minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and 8 mg/mL minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). At the MBC, ICAC inhibited 72.66% of the clinical multidrug-resistant strains. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that ICAC induced considerable morphological alterations in E. coli ATCC25922 and C4E2. The significant increase in the activity of extracellular alkaline phosphatase (AKP) indicated that ICAC damages the permeability of the bacterial cell wall. Additionally, the intracellular membrane (IM) permeability and the content of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a main component of the outer membrane (OM), were determined. The significant decrease in LPS content and increased leakage of intracellular proteins and K+ from E. coli indicated that ICAC could induce the exfoliation of OM and disrupt IM permeability, resulting in the loss of barrier function. The uptake of propidium iodide (PI), a compromised cell membrane nucleic acid stain, and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) further demonstrated that ICAC disrupted IM integrity. Moreover, the bactericidal effect and damage to bacterial microstructural function occurred in a dose-dependent manner. These data demonstrate that ICAC has excellent antibacterial activity and is a promising approach for overcoming the antibiotic resistance of pathogenic bacteria.

Abstract: Abstract Background Hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the stomach (HAS) is an extremely rare and unique malignant gastric tumor with a significantly worse prognosis than non‐hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the stomach (non‐HAS). The present study explored the clinicopathological features of HAS and non‐HAS patients to provide insights into HAS treatment strategies. Methods From December 26, 2023, we performed a comprehensive search of the PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase.com databases for relevant studies. Two authors independently screened the studies, evaluated their quality, extracted data, and performed the analyses. This study was registered with PROSPERO on January 2, 2024. Results Nine retrospective studies were included for analysis after screening 833 articles. A total of 350 and 924 patients were enrolled in the HAS and non‐HAS groups, respectively. Abstract: We present a study of chemistry toward 294 dense cores in 12 molecular clumps using the data obtained from the ALMA Survey of 70 $\mu \rm m$ dark High-mass clumps in Early Stages (ASHES). We identified 97 protostellar cores and 197 prestellar core candidates based on the detection of outflows and molecular transitions of high upper energy levels ($E_{u}/k > 45$ K). The detection rate of the N$_{2}$D$^{+}$ emission toward the protostellar cores is 38%, which is higher than 9% for the prestellar cores, indicating that N$_{2}$D$^{+}$ does not exclusively trace prestellar cores. The detection rates of the DCO$^{+}$ emission are 35% for the prestellar cores and 49% for the protostellar cores, which are higher than those of N$_{2}$D$^{+}$, implying that DCO$^{+}$ appears more frequently than N$_{2}$D$^{+}$ in both prestellar and protostellar cores. Both N$_{2}$D$^{+}$ and DCO$^{+}$ abundances appear to decrease from the prestellar to protostellar stage. The DCN, C$_{2}$D and $^{13}$CS emission lines are rarely seen in the dense cores of early evolutionary phases. The detection rate of the H$_{2}$CO emission toward dense cores is 52%, three times higher than that of CH$_{3}$OH (17%). Abstract: Emotion cause pair extraction (ECPE), as one of the derived subtasks of emotion cause analysis (ECA), shares rich inter-related features with emotion extraction (EE) and cause extraction (CE). Therefore EE and CE are frequently utilized as auxiliary tasks for better feature learning, modeled via multi-task learning (MTL) framework by prior works to achieve state-of-the-art (SoTA) ECPE results. However, existing MTL-based methods either fail to simultaneously model the specific features and the interactive feature in between, or suffer from the inconsistency of label prediction. In this work, we consider addressing the above challenges for improving ECPE by performing two alignment mechanisms with a novel A^2Net model. We first propose a feature-task alignment to explicitly model the specific emotion-&cause-specific features and the shared interactive feature. Besides, an inter-task alignment is implemented, in which the label distance between the ECPE and the combinations of EE&CE are learned to be narrowed for better label consistency. Evaluations of benchmarks show that our methods outperform current best-performing systems on all ECA subtasks. Abstract: Event extraction (EE) is an essential task of information extraction, which aims to extract structured event information from unstructured text. Most prior work focuses on extracting flat events while neglecting overlapped or nested ones. A few models for overlapped and nested EE includes several successive stages to extract event triggers and arguments,which suffer from error propagation. Therefore, we design a simple yet effective tagging scheme and model to formulate EE as word-word relation recognition, called OneEE. The relations between trigger or argument words are simultaneously recognized in one stage with parallel grid tagging, thus yielding a very fast event extraction speed. The model is equipped with an adaptive event fusion module to generate event-aware representations and a distance-aware predictor to integrate relative distance information for word-word relation recognition, which are empirically demonstrated to be effective mechanisms. Experiments on 3 overlapped and nested EE benchmarks, namely FewFC, Genia11, and Genia13, show that OneEE achieves the state-of-the-art (SOTA) results. Abstract: Deep learning (DL) has made significant progress in angle closure classification with anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) images. These AS-OCT images are often acquired by different imaging devices/conditions, which results in a vast change of underlying data distributions (called "data domains"). Moreover, due to practical labeling difficulties, some domains (e.g., devices) may not have any data labels. As a result, deep models trained on one specific domain (e.g., a specific device) are difficult to adapt to and thus may perform poorly on other domains (e.g., other devices). To address this issue, we present a multi-target domain adaptation paradigm to transfer a model trained on one labeled source domain to multiple unlabeled target domains. Specifically, we propose a novel Multi-scale Multi-target Domain Adversarial Network (M2DAN) for angle closure classification. M2DAN conducts multi-domain adversarial learning for extracting domain-invariant features and develops a multi-scale module for capturing local and global information of AS-OCT images. Based on these domain-invariant features at different scales, the deep model trained on the source domain is able to classify angle closure on multiple target domains even without any annotations in these domains. Abstract: Dense gas is important for galaxy evolution and star formation. Optically-thin dense-gas tracers, such as isotopologues of HCN, HCO+, etc., are very helpful to diagnose excitation conditions of dense molecular gas. However, previous studies of optically-thin dense-gas tracers were mostly focusing on average properties of galaxies as a whole, due to limited sensitivity and angular resolution. M82, a nearby prototype starburst galaxy, offers a unique case for spatially-resolved studies with single-dish telescopes. With the IRAM 30-m telescope, we observed the J = 1 - 0 transition of H13CN, HC15N, H13CO+, HN13C, H15NC, and SiO J = 2 - 1, HC3N J= 10 - 9, H2CO J = 2 - 1 toward five positions along the major axis of M82. The intensity ratios of I(HCN)/I(H13CN) and I(HCO+)/I(H13CO+) show a significant spatial variation along the major axis, with lower values in the central region than those on the disk, indicating higher optical depths in the central region. The optical depths of HCO+ lines are found to be systematically higher than those of HCN lines at all positions. 237. Highly Efficient and Selective Extraction of Gold by Reduced Graphene Oxide

Abstract: Materials that are capable of extracting gold from complex sources, especially electronic waste (e-waste) with high efficiency are needed for gold resource sustainability and effective e-waste recycling. However, it remains challenging to achieve high extraction capacity to trace amount of gold, and precise selectivity to gold over a wide range of complex co-existing elements. Here we report a reduced graphene oxide (rGO) material that has an ultrahigh extraction capacity for trace amounts of gold (1,850 mg/g and 1,180 mg/g to 10 ppm and 1 ppm gold). The excellent gold extraction behavior is accounted to the graphene areas and oxidized regions of rGO. The graphene areas spontaneously reduce gold ions to metallic gold, and the oxidized regions provide a good dispersibility so that efficient adsorption and reduction of gold ions by the graphene area can be realized. The rGO is also highly selective to gold ions. By controlling the protonation process of the functional groups on the oxidized regions of rGO, it shows an exclusive gold extraction without adsorption of 14 co-existing elements seen in e-waste. These discoveries are further exploited in highly efficient, continuous gold recycling from e-waste with good scalability and economic viability, as exemplified by extracting gold from e-waste using a rGO membrane based flow-through process.
